Sorry if there is already a thread for this, but just wanted to make a topic for general discussion for our class.
So what are your reasons for rolling a guard (especially those that main it such as myself)? Just wanted thoughts of what it is about the guardian that brought u into the class. What does the guardian do that sets it apart from the other classes in your opinion, and what is ur favorite play style e.g(bunker,cleric/medic,balanced/roamer,DPS,)
1. I decided to roll guardian cause i have always loved heavy armor medics characters(such as paladins/white knights) and also loved being that support character that ppl realize is essential to any situation. Also i was drawn into the other things such as weapon capabilties i <3 shields lol if i had my way we would be able to dual wield tower shields and also dual lances, and maces are one of my fav one handed weapon choices even above sword. I was also impressed with a-nets version of a “focus” and how it is wielded with the guardian. Another reason is i love melee characters that wield mana/magic, so when i found all of these points were rolled up into one character i was head over heels for this class ^^.
2. The Thing that i think makes guards set apart is the playstyle of the class i have never seen a class that having even only 1 guardian can change the tide of battle with there heals/cleanses/numerous buffs/blocks etc. Guardians are also as i see them in my personal view are the defenders of justice and as i play in D&D i always play a Lawful good character when possible. They just offer so much to there teammates thakittens easy to see you hard work come to fruition. To finish as u can guess i love playing a battle medic class as this game doesn’t have a dedicated cleric class this is as close as u can get lol, well that’s about all i can think of right now how to get some opinions from you guys.
ah but u misunderstand my build its not bunker guard per say thats why it is my Tpvp build only cause it is used to keep my teammates clean and standing its not meant to fight 1v1’s i mean u can fight 1v1 and 1v2’s but u wont be able to win the fights due to it being a distraction build that buys ur team time to cap other nodes. I use this as a way of simply getting my team 500pts that it lol. plus to answer the shelter question i just dont think the reward is worth the skill, say ur at 25% health and and pop it to block a burst its nice to have the block but what does it get u, up to 40% O.o. Plus ppl are also not taking into account the numerous other blocks/blinds that we have so depending on just 1 move is 90% of the time not the case

I am one of the few guard that really hates shelter as well with this u can bring ur signet heal down to a 32cd!!! which is twice the heal while still getting to keep all the cleanses/heals of the meta i find this to actually bit a bit better at surviving. the weapon set is up to you actually, I just run scepter for some extra cc. I do find myself sometimes swapping out for mace if you really want those extra blocks/symbol for area effects for teammates

Its a slight change from the cookie cutter meta build, but i find i don’t need the extra 10 in virtues, and i can take the signet mastery as im like the only guard i know that DESPISES shelter i will never understand the 2 second block is not worth the crap! heal that follows with the signet mastery i can make my signet which is another con removal and have it only be 2 seconds longer than shelter while gaining such a superior heal.
eh 50% seems a little too much to ask for its a good skill especially for rezzing and such maybe just another 15-25% would be a fair amount. But i do agree with you
i agree completely and am i in no way saying guards are the key to victory. it just is always helpful i am curious as to if ppl are just getting bored with there toon or what lol
yeah not even in the slightest no one runs up to a guardian and says meh better not XD. the reason we are not complained about is the fact that if u choose to run the bunker shout build which is what i consider imo our meta build. If you choose to run that build you have like 0 dmg output to kill ur enemies its a pure distraction build. no one looks at a guardian and considers him a “threat to the health” they just really annoy you with cc and decent healing/tankiness so we are not op as it is balanced enough if we choose to go bunker we have to sacrfice like 100% of our dmg output to do so. i mean obviously over a long enough period hitting for small amounts will wear down a opponent and there has been sooo much added boon hate lately that were slowly losing our standing if anything lol
just been wondering maybe its just a low week but i have ran maybe 40+ tournies this week, is it really just or has the guardian population severely dropped. Now i main a guard cause everything about it is amazing but i get so sick and tired of always having to swap cause i have been going for champ shadow title but its almost been halted to a stop cause im freakin forced to alt cause everytime i play i never EVER get paired with a guardian and then i look across to see patch necros and a hgh engi and a mezzy and if i dont alt they will be given free reign to just sit there and have there way in the team fights. maybe i just have a had a unlucky week and this isnt really a problem in anyway and im not complaining i just am legitimately curious if we have had a small drop in play amounts??

R32 and i work tuesday-fridays 4pm to 1am C/S/T with weekends and mondays off so i have a decently flexible schedule and have a working mic and i don’t get raged after a couple of losses, can handle criticism especially constructive kind which i embrace so consider me ^^

i would trade out being able to use a greatsword which has no real feeling of ranger’ness for me, with a the abiltiy to wield a rifle were rangers/hunters we need a rifle lol.
I can only speak for myself as i find myself rocking scepter/shield, mace/focus with depending on situation i switch out my 1 set for a hammer for cc, but i think all to many times ppl will try to answer these question, with facts and match and science, which is always the right way, but no one ever takes into account that most players that use things that aren’t neccessarily as good as other weapons, if nothing more than just what is called “player preference” which means everyone is going to to run what they feel is the most fun or brings them enjoyment. You cant always judge a player because he might run a diff opinion of a build then you, because there will always be players that will play the game that some may find “politically incorrect” for no other reason than thats simply the way they like to play^^ in my opinion i have maybe only once carried a torch O.o? but yet i see alot of guards running it all i can say is to each his own.
lol i cant really comment on being kicked of any dungeons as how i have the luxury of a great guild that is active so i almostnever have to pug, but reminds of the time i was in a group of 4 warriors and me, MY GAWD i didnt even get to enjoy the dungeon as i had to spend my whole run rezzing those squishy guys O.O! and the gate bubble part were u all had to stand i was nervous cause only 1 warrior can do gate and i honestly didnt think the others could live the bubble fights and my assumptions were right as 2 downed but luckily warrrior finished gate in time. Don’t let ppl get to u if a warrior makes fun of you just challenge him to a duel he will back down immediatley XD

sorry to say i found out i have to work i wont be able to participate i would only be able to play about 4 hours and if we made it to championships again thats about to the time i would have to leave for work and i dont wanna ruin the synergy of the group so they have time to find a suitable replacement GL to you guys u can defend the honor i know u have the worst matchup possible with the necros Make me proud guys! glad to know we have ppl willing to step in and fill the roles when needed ^^
first we need details about to more about your build before we can help you and need to know your playstyle do you like bunker,zerker,knights etc. plus a tip is every dungeon requires a different setup may be minor changes but can make the difference
so glad to be apart of that was funnest thing i’ve ever done since Gw2 came out and my teammates were the best in the world to experiance it with i was the bunker guard “Danyyle” was amazing
Thnx for the answers guys ive read pretty much all of them all the way through and seems that spirit’s are not that great maybe im just a little better skilled with em then some others cause i do good in all phases but, math and science has been presented thats leaning me to something else lol. in PvP i will prob never change caus im all support/bunker/regen and theyre just to helpful. But PvE i actually think of going maybe rabid i always like the idea of cons over dmg.^^ But please keep the info coming even the random warrior banner over spirits debate XD which makes no sense cause i have no control over what banners can do sense i dont play warrior but its still helpful. I do have one defence though when in pvp ppl says they can be 1 or 2 shotted with aoe’s, ur forgetting they move with you and if u just dont stand in the aoe neither will they.

Just wanted to ask why it is that like 1% of rangers run spirits expecially in pvp. I know that that they have there downside but what build doesnt. I have found Amazing success with them fully traited in tpvp,spvp, and even amazing duel 1v1 success. I’ve heard alot of bad things in other forum posts and this last patch to me i can really feel a difference in them being even better. just wanted to kow if someone could point there finger on why there not so popular O.o? cause its by far my most survivable build ive been able to run along with about 2900 power which is respectable so its not like im not putting out damage on my bunker. (looking for real answers so if i know if im wasting my time or not not insults or trolling lol ^^ thnx for any help)
I dont understand ppl complain when ppl want a rifle on a ranger, but no one mentions the fact that we can wield a GREATSWORD wtf is with that? we wied what Gaurdian/Warrior heavy armor wearing, melee based classes, but its illogical to want a rifle i dont simply ‘want’ a rifle. I would simply suffice for a trade between the 2. —-———————>(Insert kitten Remarks Here)

yeah to each his own i guess everyone has different strategies, i feel like the point of this post has been lost lol, though i pointed out we had difficulties, the point was that free transfers was not a 100% positive effect on the communities
yeah i know were just gonna give in and probably merge with a larger guild lol. Like i said to me 85 is a respectable guild. We were actually decent at recruiting it just couldnt really offer any real incentive to stay due to not having everything unlocked and couldn’t offer the 24 hr buffs and stuff. We just realized in reality how many tagless ppl do you see running around anymore almost know one there was no real way to compete. Even a beginner never played before noob knows to join the guild with the most benefits.

Hey guys just created a guid yesterday thats going to be centered around Guardians only^^. Juts thought it would be fun way to commune and chat about guardians and learn from ur other guild members. I want to grow into a well known guild were all elite gaurdians come to have fun with other lovers of the class. this is not a required rep guild as it is more for fun and to just come and grab some guildies and do things such as dungeon runs, Fractals, PvP teaming, etc. This will be a across all servers guild that any1 can join if u have a guard toon. So come join in on the fun, and gather together and found out what it would be like to have a group of nothin but guardians! its mainly in PvP were all the trashing of the class. I just know some ppl and have been apart of instances were random ppl would call us garbage its mainly trollers i know but i still regardless wanna see this succeed ^^ 50 gaurds next to each other i dont think dps exist that would damage there health lol jk. #alldemboons

I Dannyle and a friend Lycasi have made a guild called Chibaku tensei(Pain) and have been around since about 1 week after launch we are based in Kaineng. But we have decided that having a small guild if about 8 or 9 ppl was fun but we kinda wanted to expand into a larger more respectable guild lol. We have gotten more dedicated towards growing and recruiting and have had reasonable success were now at 50+^^. We know that’s actually small but were are just getting recently into there growing stages. But on to the point i am throwing out a invite for any one, any level, new or pro alike to come join us:). As a former member of plenty of other so called BIG guilds i can honestly say that even though most ppl advertise as a casual or active and fun guild. But seems when u join its followed by a bunch of guidelines and rules like must 100% rep 100% of the time or face our wrath and get booted and then is usually followed by them slandering ur name and taking you to be the biggest kitten in the world lol. Well im here to say that we are a bunch of idiots that like to have fun and we play the game for the lulz and not the rulz. So if your a fan of The Anime naruto and u wanna come chat and have discussions and even if u hate it everyone is welcome:). We have RaidCall so u can get to know ur guildies and we have guild missions availible only bounties currently but most small guilds are size cant even say they have that. We are very experianced at the game and seems we have made a living off of grabbing the low level ppl and have great success in training them to 80. (I cant tell you how many of our members came to us lvl 10 or lower lol but through just a little time and effort most of them are 80 now or 60 or above. So if ur newer plz dont be shy we can help/train you if you wish. If your’e a pro player we need you more than ever as you can help us all pool our knowledge of the game together and help us with lowers. I will finish by stating that one benefit of being a lower sized guild is we have many oppurtunitys to rank up that bigger guilds just cant offer as everyone is is competing for them making it hard to have your efforts noticed. Our ranking system is not the average as we are i stated a Naruto guilds instead of the boring Member, Captain , Etc. We have Genin,Chunin,Jonin,Sannin, Kage and others hope this catches the eye of interested ppl. Just Pm Dannyle or Lycasi and we will get u in^^. Thnx for reading this even if ur not interested.
