#CRabbit: I don’t know what’s going on then…
I created my signet build for this reason: I tried to burst with Maul. I didn’t get the crits I was expecting so I made a spreadsheet do check my results. The number in this sheet are MUCH higher then what I see on my screen. It can be a Ninja-nerf or wrong calculation.
I have no idea now S:
#Prysin: Impressive number, TROLOLOL
But if you have a look at the picture you can see: he used EVERYTHING for that single hit… 3 signets, RaO, Stalker F2. Full BL stack and 18! stacks of might.
I don’t want to judge this playstyle, but I think it’s a ’high risk – sometimes no reward" situation.
Can you burst with Maul? Sure!
Worth it? I think no…
The 6335 is with traited Signet of the Beastmaster and using the Signet of the Hunt and the Wild… This gives a multiplier of 1,875 (1,5 and 1,25)
So your 13340 must be divided by 1,875 = 7115 crit
It is still not the number you mentioned in your original post, but much less then the 15k.
P.s.: that’s why I stopped playing power build. Heavy investment in traits and gear, sacrificing all the survivability for what? A 4000-5000 crit once in a year IF it hits at all???
No way! (:
I’m not 100% sure, but…
likely that your power is around 2000+, the formula counts with the Power from the Hero Panel, not with the attack (from the first column not the second).
I have a spreadsheet exactly for LB AA and Maul.
Entering your numbers but using 2191 Attack and not using the SoH and SoW bonus damage (also might, no ranger runes, no flanking, etc…):
Armor=2700, min: 3210 max: 3548 avg: 3379
Armor=3000, min: 2889 max: 3193 avg: 3041
Armor=3500, min: 2476 max: 2737 avg: 2607
SoH and SoW, 2700 armor (avg)= 6335

Yeah… I cannot wait… Patch date?
For WvW this is what I run now:
Bit of a hybrid I guess. If you don’t like the GS you can go with the SB. With the SB you can have poison, what my build lacks. You can also invest 10 points into the Marksman line instead of the NM.
(I do not sPvP, so I don’t say anything about that…)
I agree with Prysin too…
If this CDI is a waste of time than we can lean back and uninstall the game.
We [the community] did everything we could.
If ANET cannot solve the “ranger problem” there is no point to play with a game where the designers are incompetent and ignorant (at least for me…).
But I do trust…
Fingers crossed xOx
Give us the option to stow the pet in combat.
If the pet is stowed, the ranger gets one class specific ability of the pet as F2, and a slightly bonus to one attribute. Bear: 160 vitality, Drake:160 toughness, etc… The special abilities can be:
Your attacks inflict bleeding for 10 seconds (30 sec cooldown)
Your next attack causes blind (20 sec cooldown)
Your next attack puts you in stealth for 3 seconds (40 sec cooldown)
etc…
If the pet is not stowed it can uses the current abilities. The ranger looses the stowed boons and abilities.
Put the stowed and not-stowed traits in the Beastmaster trait line… Like: if you release your pet, you keep the passive boon for 5 seconds. Something like this…
Oh, and make the pet fire the F2 instantly, give them dodge or permanent AE reduction and basic 25% movement speed and increased range. Such you don’t have to change the AI code and you can make us happy.
Last night I was doing a bit of home defend, so I started to follow a commander.
After got beaten like five times I was like: “WTF is going on here?!?!”
It turned out that this is the commander’s first attempt to lead a zerg outside of his guild/friends.
And I thought: “Why not, we all must start somewhere…” So I kept following him and by the end of the night I started to really enjoy it. Sure he did some mistakes, like slightly misplaced ballistae, wrong positioning, attacking camps with 4+ minutes of buff on the supervisor. But nothing worth an uninstall
He did his best and I really appreciate his efforts. I did enjoy it and I’m sure the most of the followers too. Nobody was forced to come with us by the way…
(anyway he had a veteran wvw leader with him without tag just to help him to avoid the biggest mistakes but he let this commander lead us…)
And don’t forget you need the commander tag in PvE too…
Do you autokick every profession what has access to knockback?
1, Ranger
2, Elementalist
3, Mesmer
“It is as simple as pressing F3, wait 1 or 2 seconds and then use the signet.
The difference between the warrior’s and the ranger’s signet is that the latter breaks stun and is instant.”
Are you kidding , right… wait one or two seconds, and it is instant…
The pet is absolutely garbage, and any trait linked to the pet isn’t reliable… They are not useless every time just the time you REALLY need them…
You cannot tell me ONE single thing what other classes can’t do better (sorry 1500 range… so -1).
Solution: remove the whole bugged pet mechanic out of the game… make the pets on passive, and invulnerable. Only the F2 remains, and +20% damage to the ranger itself…
Problem solved…
Otherwise the ranger is a FUN class to play, but absolutely unreliable due to the kitten AI the kitten pathfinding, the pet’s nonexistant mitigation, slow reaction time and the fact that a pet cannot even hit a thing what moves faster then a continent.
Girls and guys, stop whinning!
Everybody will do this within 2-3 weeks… If you do not like to die and die again, than wait. ( I like this, I like the challenge
I will be there as soon as I can)
But get some vitality and/or toughness gear for the God’s sake… (ranger here…)
I cannot believe this….
The half of the 20-40 team dies only to looking at the red patches…
I was a bow-type ranger, but I love the GS now.
I am a ranger who gets into the heat of the battle with his two trusty pets, Mighty (stalker) and Condi (bear). They are there only to -if the time calls for it- give some motivation (might) or a few seconds of protection (50k HP bear with Protect me! is very handy). I’m the ranger, who engages from afar with a deadly hail of arrows, then leaps into the combat while encouraging his fellows with shouts. I’m a ranger who has no honour. Tricks and traps are all acceptable to bring down a foe. It needs honour to decide who has to die. After this decision was made the honour is not important anymore.
I am a ranger who stalks the land and uses everything for his advantage and accepts no rules. Rules are to protect the weak. But in the forest there is only one rule!
“The weak loses, the punishment is: death!
The strong wins, the reward is: may fight again!”
If the nature follows only this rule so must the ranger too.
…
I use 10/0/30/30/0 with GS as main, and whatever I need as a second… axe+horn or longbow. I like this playstyle and I think it fits into the “ranger” category. I never get blamed because of my pet or my bow (bearbow…). Basically I am the first who gets into the combat and usually the last one who drops
