I also one of those who was “unable to grasp this high concept”, but I still think it’s not very exciting. It does sound bland and somehow makes me less excited about the guardian’s elite spec. (However, the mechanics and the longbow are sexy.)

Actually, it is not doable right now, at least the Unforgiving Infiltration since the challenge mote is bugged and never spawns. (Not that I’d have any clue where to find it as I’m doing it the first time, but I should stumble upon it, like I did with the others.) This frustrating since it’s blocking me from that particular set of Luminescent skin, and the corresponding Ascended Sinister trinket.

It’s easily watchwork because it’s the only tool that adds loot to the table.

I own the Molten pick which is absolutely inferior to the Watchwork pick due to the the worst design philosophy implemented by Anet to date. Only 1 pick gives extra loot and yields the equivalent of Ori from any node.

All picks should drop sprockets or none should.

Good point. However I’d say that all picks should drop something that fits in the theme of the item. The molten alliance minig pick could drop molten/destroyer slivers, bone pick could drop tier 1 to tier 6 bones based on the node and so on. Maybe this idea would be a bit overkill, but doing it in a balanced way would make sense.

The same old “we want to concentrate on the expansion” excuse. Sorry but been there, done that. I spent 7 years in GW1, and that include at least 2 years without a major update. The excuse was: “we need to concentrate on GW2”. It was still a bit annoying, but there was no cash shop at that time – at least not to this extent.

So now that is a cheap excuse. I was in a love/hate relationship with SAB, bought the continue coin, but never finished it (yes, I suck that much, but that’s not the point). I cannot see why it could not be a permanent feature as it is so popular among players. I’d say I’ll never buy gems for cash again but I know I won’t be able to control myself when that Balthazar outfit hits the gemstore.

Other than that we can keep waiting for an expansion that is released after 3 years, to (hopefully) kill the second Elder Dragon, and there are like five more. We don’t know their plans, and strategy, but now I’m worried about the future of the game I love.

Agree. This is the reason why I stopped playing for a while, apart from not being able to keep up with the Living Story S1 and the bi-weekly updates. I do like the concept of the ever changing world. And there are occasions when the not so pretty was changed to something beautiful (Crown Pavilion). I’d like to see more of that, and I’d also love to see Lion’s Arch back to it’s former glory.

We’ll have some new armor skins, in the form of Ascended Armor (I have no idea when they’ll be added). If it’s visually appealing or not? Well that’s a completely different story.

I hope it stays. The daily skill point “node” for the meta seems awesome as well. The question is: will the Quartz Crystals make a return? I missed Bazaar of the Four Winds, and since it was only a temporary content (I’m not a fan of those) where you could acquire Quartz Crystals, it does not make any sense that this is mentioned.

I love the skins, they are awesome. I was hoping to get the armor of the Bloody Prince, and also the armor of The Mad King as well. No luck for me it seems. Apart from that they are truly awesome.

It’s still close to impossible so it should be nerfed WAY more instead of making it HARDER. IMO the timed aspect should go for good and a personal instance would also be awesome. If I wanted to play a racing game, I’d play GRID2 not GW2.

I enjoyed the jumping puzzles so far (not that I did all of them but those I did were awesome), but not the holiday ones. The fact that Anet fails to see that GW2 never ever needed timed jumping puzzles is most discouraging. If I want to play a racing game, I have plenty of choices.

So even though the idea and the environment is awesome, the flawed design kills it for many people. I sincerely hope that the player feedback will be considered in the future events, so we won’t have to face timed jumping puzzles ever again.

As a side note for the “omg so easy, make it even harder” crowd: I played plenty of Tomb Raider games. Pixel perfect jumps and so on. It was hard yet satisfying, but that was an andventure/platformer with controls tailored to that experience. Please keep that in mind before asking for harder jumping puzzles.

Go to a dungeon, earn your gear…

First off all, it won’t be your gear. We are not suggesting the fractal items with the same skin to be sold at vendors, but some generic skins with ascended stats.

Secondly, this is not wow. I’d go to FOTM, but I’m not really into pugs. Even if I wanted to, I guess the expectation would be big scale + full exotic + asc gear. Since I have never been there I have no big scale or asc item. Guess what? That narrows down my chances to get a group for it. I guess I’m not alone with this.

When it was announced that GW2 was employing a real economist to help manage the economy I have to say I was a little bemused.

Ah, well, that would explain it. Nobody better than an economist to ensure that no one can make a dime.

In that case they’ve managed to simulate this aspect of the real world quite well.

I’ll let you decide if it’s a good or a bad thing.

Either way, the amount of moneysinks in this game is too kitten high. (Yes, I wanted to meme that here, but was not sure if pics are allowed in this forum.)

Waypoint costs never should have been implemented to begin with. Free travel all the way.

I was thinking about that also, but I’m not familiar with the exact stats of Ascended items, so I assumed that they can come with identical (but improved) stats that we can produce, + the infusion slot. But if this is the case then we essentially killed off runes?

Btw “difficult to code” should not be an excuse. This is not the 7 year old GW1 with a small Live Team. The game is 3 months old, fully backed up by multiple teams.

The transmutation stone reasoning is valid, but my approach would stop Anet pricing ugly looking Ascended items like t3 cultural sets.

This is the main point of the issue. Max gear to be easy to obtain. Just like the main philosophy of GW. It seemed to be the case in GW2 also, but nowadays? Not so much. I still hope they’ll prove me wrong, and it’ll just turn out that we were impatient little kids.

I agree with the OP completely but I would implement it differently.

There should be some new vendors introduced that are able to upgrade your Exotic gear to Ascended tier for a reasonable price, 1-10g a piece. Keeping the skin, the stat combinations, but upgrading stats and adding infusion slots. This way the easy to obtain max gear status quo remains, while the cooler/rarer skins are still something to work for/brag about/sell for tons of cash (oh wait, you can’t – that also needs to be fixed).

Of course this system would be there also if/when Anet introduces new gear tiers. The vendors would be able to upgrade n-1 tier items to n tier items (where n is the currently obtainable highest tier gear). Also, this would not be exclusive to the highest tier. Let’s say if from 3 months now there are new tiers, you would not have to own the second best set in order to be able to obtain the best at that time.

Your exotics could be a starting point to upgrade to ascended, then ascended +1, and in the end ascended +2. But what is important is it to have a set and reasonable price.

This should be capable to satisfy both the “OMG GEAR GRIND IM LEAVING” and the “I WANT MOAR SHINIES/ENDGAME” crowd.

There is a trade option between players and that’s the Trading Post. Convenient, easy to use and fast. I mean FAST.

I remember when in GW1 I spent valuable game time standing in outposts spamming WTB only to not have my needs satisfied if the other player with the item I sought was not there. It was based on supply and demand, but you also needed to be at the right place at the right time. This only for a WTB situation. Let me not explain the hell that WTS was. The TP eliminated this hassle for the better. Hooray for that, and a big thumbs up. I mean BIG.

The other points are all good and will be implemented in time I assume.

Magic find is a pointless stat, there shouldn’t any player-side modification to drop rates. Players should be focused on playing the game and having fun, not worrying about whenever they have enough magic find to get good drops from what they are doing right now. Even on food it is a loss of stats, because there is much more useful food out there that can add very useful buffs instead of MF buffs – but MF buff is pretty much all that matters on food. The most expensive food is the stuff that gives MF – and that alone shows how stupid this is.

Its not a matter of choice. When MF is in the game what it tells all the players is this: Use MF or get less good drops. Thats not a choice. Thats forcing everyone to use MF or get less good drops. Some people don’t care and are willing to sacrifice the opportunity for better drops in favour of actually having useful stats fitting for their build. Most are selfish and care for their own drops above everything else, including their buddies in the party.

When Magic Find is in the game it makes players feel that it is mandatory to use it in order to obtain good drops. This is the bottomline, the main reason why it has to be removed. To take this pointless headache away from us and let us focus on whats important in a game: having fun.

Now with this I can fully agree. Not like “evil non contributor” bs that others would like to claim.

I think its amazing that you need someone else to present math to explain common sense. Try taking off one or two of your gear pieces and fight one veteran or champion mob. You don’t even have to be in a dungeon to do that. Try that again with all of your gear on. See if that makes a difference vs a mob that would normally nearly kill you in full gear. Magnify that difference based on how much more difficult a boss or otherwise difficult mob would be in a dungeon if you were the last person in the party standing while your teammates were rushing back from a WP in a dungeon. You are now the difference between that boss resetting and going back to full health…which means your party has to repeat that entire boss fight. Say its not even a possible wipe…say you just get one shotted by a boss in a dungeon due to low vitality or toughness. The difficulty of a tough mob or boss increases dramatically when there is 1/5 or greater less dps or less targets for it to switch between (meaning it may focus on the remaining players more often..giving them less time to get that heal off of cooldown). These are all logical things that do not require some from of proof to understand. Yes, the same difficulty increase can occur because someone just fails to dodge or has low vitality due to a glass build…but why allow extra, intentional handicaps as well as the inevitable player errors.

Well, since I loved the first GW because I did not have to care much about gear and statistics and because it was mentioned countless times by the devs that even green gear is capable for finishing dungeons, please forgive me that I don’t care about the numbers. Not that it would be useful to care, because it does not really have any sense anyway.

Btw telling me not to wear full armor and trying to take on a vet/champ is common sense, yes but far from proof. FYI I soloed a Champ Risen Juggernaut in Sparkfly in my rare MF gear today.

Logically you’are right, but in theory if everyone was good, nobody should have to run back to a boss from the waypoint… Not to mention that I asked for the actual amount of the setback measured in time.

On a side note: so neither power/precision/crit, nor power/precision/cond are good enough now?

So… Now we’re talking about morals? That’s… astonishing. Btw thanks for the heads up that from now on I should never ever try to get into a dungeon group because I’m (and many others in their MF gear) clearly a useless leecher contributing nothing to the group.

I’d still like to see actual figures of this less contribution due to gear. So guys in MF gear are a setback (but I bet you’d be glad if someone in full MF actually showed up when you already wasted 30 mins finding the last guy for a dungeon run…), but to what extent? Tell me the numbers, but not statistical BS and percentages. Videos of 3 dungeon runs. Same party members, same dungeon. 1st run – 5 dungeon gear. 2nd run – 4 dungeon gear, 1 MF gear, 3rd run – 5 MF gear. If the difference between completion times (aka effectivness) is greater than 10 minutes between the first and second run, and 30-40 mintues of the first and third run, then I hereby promise to get a second dungeon set, and never go to a dungeon again in MF.

If the numbers are like that or worse it would be useful as a “why not to go magic find frenzy in dungeons” tutorial.

You are admitting that you are leeching off of other people’s work.

Please tell me how can you consider using MF gear leeching? Geez. It’s not like we wait in a dark corner until all our fellow party members kill stuff and bosses so we can grab the phat lootz.

In GW1 in FA, when people were fighting others and guys just sit on the starting points because it’s still free faction for them, now that was leeching. How on earth can you compare that to using different gear?

I could say that you could just get some MF gear also and go into dungeons. You’ll probably say that you don’t want to do that, because of this or that. You have the right to do that, and I’ll never complain about that.

I for one don’t want to waste inventory space and money on other armor pieces simply because my rare MF gear is more than capable to get the job done.

Also I don’t think that the “reduced contribution” would add hours to dungeon completion.

You claim that it’s not as effective as other gears. (I did AC in green gear and nobody gave a flying kitten about it, yet we succeeded.) But let’s say you’re right and it’s not really as effective. Result? I go out and kill mobs a bit slower, and in return I got the chance for better rewards. Still can’t see the problem with it.

Also please don’t act like it would be impossible to do any dungeon if one member of the party is in full MF gear. It’s clearly not, even if all party members were in ful MF gear.

not everybody play dungeons either
as far for wvw achivement it takes 30 minutes to make 50 kills
but it take 1 day or 2 to make dungeons

I’m happy that it takes only 30 minutes for you to get the 50 kills. Not everyone is in the same boat. It may be easy for you and it may be impossible for others. I for one find the whole WvWvW very confusing, and not really fun but that’s another topic.

The thing is: WvWvW (aka PvP) requirement was never needed for the montly, ever. Now we have PvP monthlies, yet it remains. It should go imo.

You’re right on that, however differentiating A as PvP may hint that B is PvE (since they’re like opposites). Or to put it this way, it may hint that B is in fact not A (which is PvP).

Well, adding additional weekly would not be bad. The more active players have a chance to get additional rewards. Those that have less free time during the day can make up for it anytime they choose to. Also it would be a nice plan b until (if ever) they remove World Invader kills from the monthlies.

It’s a win-win as I see.

Last time I checked World Invaders were characters controlled by other players. Therefore this can’t be considered as PvE since killing other players is involved. The area may count as PvE, I won’t argue about that, but the required activity is PvP imo.

I agree completely. I was very happy when I saw that now we have PvP Monthlies/Dailies. Just to realize that the WvWvW invader kill is still there. Makes me sad.

If WvWvW participation is THAT important, at least change it so killing hostile NPCs at camps, towers etc COUNT for that.

Not to mention how puzzling the fact that there is differentiation between PvE/PvP Monthlies and yet the PvE Monthly STILL has the PvP element. /sadface

It was a response to Belmont who still believes their might be a recipe for it.

Because there should be a set recipe since, like forever? The reason why I feel that way has been expressed countless times. I’m still having a blast and one day I’ll have an Eternity. That day is nowhere near and I’m fine with that.

If in the end I’ll have to buy the precursors from TP, so be it. But I still won’t feel comfortable giving that sum of money to someone who is Blessed by Fate.

There is a preview option actually. If the item is linked in the ingame chat you can just right click on it, then preview. This applies also for armor/weapon vendors.

Zone completion is like 3 silver. I can farm 1 vial of blood which sells 42c +..why would i complete a zone that takes ALOT more time to do.

Gendarran Fields yielded 24 silvers for me, and thre random items. I’d say that’s decent. Altough I suspect that the reward scale with the level to some extent.
