I haven’t tested all numbers and everything, but it feels to me that damage is indeed bigger. Mobs die faster and when I was trying out hot-joins, people also died faster. Although, it may just be a coincidence.

I haven’t gotten to play it cuz I have school but update notes sounds like what I was hoping for ^^ open world tower with multiple levels and events while there’s instanced chambers to enter and a final story heart of the tower dungeon

Stairs, ramps, mazes, instance boss on top of it. Exactly how you wished Only problem that I’ve found so far is that the 3rd Level of the tower is a little bit crazy T_T

No I mean the ability to get the old launcher back. I put the command line in and…nothing!

That’s why this thread has been created.

Wiki says:
-useoldlauncher
Launched the game using an old style launcher which also allows users to see the old style login screen with music.
Allowed people to use the pre-July 2012 update launcher (which did not check hardware configuration and used a different set of logon fields); was primarily useful for people using Virtual Machine. Disabled as part of the August 21, 2012 update.

Because I haven’t seen any reaction to this question, I’ve recently sent a very enthusiastic message to ANet about the login screen. Development team may consider doing something about it if we have provided them additional feedback, and more precisely tell them that we want it back and why we want it back.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to share your ideas about Guild Wars 2.

I understand you wish the old login screen back. We have found that the best way for the development team to gather and review player feedback and suggestions is through our official forums. We ask players to post their ideas in our Official Forums, within the Suggestions sub-forum located here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions.

Members of the Development Team read the Suggestions Forum daily, and while they usually cannot respond to individual suggestions, the fact that team members can review those suggestions in a public forum helps them gauge the level of interest in a specific idea, and also allows other players to discuss and offer feedback of their own.

The team looks forward to reviewing your input and thank you for your very enthusiastic mail.

edit: I don’t see that the option of using the old login screen may bring difficulties to players.

Teq event no longer has a point?

in Living World

Posted by: Aidan.4602

Aidan.4602

That’s what ANet wanted, probably. Why all of the dragons should be killed by just staying there and spamming one skill? Lore-wise, gameplay-wise, mechanically-wise it’s a stupid concept.
Now, even from a RP standpoint, ‘champions of Tyria’ unite to destroy a dragon champion, who became stronger because of a currently unknown source (next Living Stories should explain that).
Two days ago I just logged in to my home server Desolation, when some of my [VILE] guildies said that they’re in Teq main and are willing to kill it. I’ve joined them, people were telling over chat to group up, take their positions and we managed to kill him with 4 minutes left. I don’t know if there was Teamspeak channel where everyone was, because when I tried to find it, I couldn’t. So it makes me question about people saying that: ‘Teq is useless now; I could at least kill him before the update; he’s a dust town; he demands tons of organisation to be killed’ etc. When I feel like I just want to participate, I go to Sparkfly Fen if someone announces he’s about to land, fight him, get my reward and feel epic for fighting him. Nothing bad here.
My opinion is that this fight is just right. He’s not meant to be killed 24/7, but if those ‘champions of Tyria’ wants to, why not then. From gameplay, RP, whatever else standpoint, I don’t see that it’s wrong. Also one may join high population servers and fight Tequatl as well.

What's your perfect MMO?

It’s hard to explain all my thoughts about a true ‘Perfect MMO’ for me. But anyway, GW2 holds that position for me right now, even though I regard it not like ‘GW2 is a MMO’, but instead ‘GW2 is just a great game’.

Need advice... Worth starting gw2?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Aidan.4602

Aidan.4602

I would say it is worth a try, this MMO feels very different from all the rest and it takes some time to get used to.

Once you get used to it though it is amazing, and content every 2 weeks (actuall content as in new dungeons and new places to explore that is playtime worth for many days) will keep you busy :P

But yeah, a positive responce from me. The game is good but these forums are full of people who just want to complain.
Complain about easy content and then complain about hard content. Have even seen people complain about too much content.

So yeah.

Few days ago I’ve seen topics such as “Why only new TA path in next patch?”
So, yeah.
People just love to complain, nothing new here. Been for centuries like that.

So how do we fix Berserker?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Aidan.4602

Aidan.4602

Without Holy Trinity it is gonna be hard to make all the stats viable, any body got any ideas?

The problem with thier stat system is that they made beserker and condition sets the only sets that actually modify abilities
the game is designed where ability use is the most important thing.
they reduced the amount of guaranteed hits (skillfull play involves minimizing damage through position, evasion, and preparatory skills like blocks, dmg cancels, etc)

this is why beserker is the best, its not because there are no other factors besides DPS, but you can avoid/prevent/reduce damage, support, and CC virtually the same as anyone else no matter what gear you are wearing.

on the opposite side, 70% of your skills are less effective if you dont have berserker.
as long as this is the case berserker will always dominate the game.

the only other sets that matter ability wise, are condition, and boon duration sets, however, a skilled team can already get max boons when they need to, and do like 50% more dmg without using any boon duration. Condition sets also matter, but conditions dont work very well on bosses, and work very poorly in events with more than 8 people.

the best solution imo?

make other stats effect abilities, and other game play related things.

toughness could effect damage mitigation/prevention stats;
endure pain could have a maximum damage blocked, or have its duration effected by toughness, or vitality for example.

vitality could reduce condition durations or mitigate condition damage, and effect some evasive skills

healing should be changed to an overall support stat lets call it newhealing;

new healing could give a buff to the effectiveness of all boons, and give everyone in the party a bonus as well.
say self bonus maxes at 20% bonus to boons and an overall party bonus to boons. A fully support focused player would make the other 4 players in his party get more power from might, more protection from protection, as well as buff himself.

these are just ideas, but the premise is that the abilities and skills you use need to be effected by more than just power crit dmg, and condition dmg. a berserker can support, avoid/prevent damage, and CC as well as any other geared player. Thats really the problem

You’ve got really interesting ideas. Be sure to send them to Arena Net, or something like that as they shouldn’t be left unanswered.

Ignoring the LS is making me happy

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I agree with you. I was travelling in one location for about 2-3 hours today. I just wanted to explore it fully, see what I missed. I took part in every DE when I was travelling, read every text, chatted with every NPC… But as for LS, it’s great when we have permanent content like Techwaffle (one of the best things post-release, really). I think Twilight Arbor’s new path is not an exclusion as it’s – a) permanent – b) do whenever you want to do it – c) maybe what I’m saying isn’t really true, but I hope it is.

Never enough of technology...

in Twilight Assault

Posted by: Aidan.4602

Aidan.4602

If there’s such things as elves, orcs, goblins, humans, dwarves, magic (& might), medieval-like world (no technology, but castles, siege weapons, etc.) – it’s called ‘high fantasy’.
If the world resembles 18-19th century and with high technology, but it’s all made from metals and the power source is steam (steam aircraft, steam weapons, mechanized robots), also there can be some sort of magic – it’s called ‘steampunk’.
If the world has unique races, which were never described (but they may be similar to described ones) in standard fantasy, uses magic, mystic things, at the same time uses both steampunk and medieval-like architecture – maybe it can be called ‘mixed fantasy’.

tl;dr| No matter how you prefer to call it or categorize, it’s still Fantasy.

Stale/Frustrating/Boring content

in Living World

Aidan.4602

Wholeheartedly agree. I, too, enjoyed things like cutscene with Logan in the bar as it was setting some sort of adventure and shady deal, which is kinda cool. Bazaar of the Four winds should have had Dynamic Events and a cool story connected with them and maybe news from Crystal Desert, but the area itself felt so nice and exciting. Tequatl Rising was a great patch and now it would be nice for them to connect it with other dragons’ lore; like why he evolved, how and who’s behind that (maybe Zhaitan isn’t fully destroyed yet and we’ll have to REALLY fight him some day).
It all would be just awesome.

Will LS ever be about GW lore or Tyria?

in Living World

Posted by: Aidan.4602

Aidan.4602

Also +1 for the term of “Random Story”. New content is always welcome, but content that has nothing to do with the game lore and with the game in particular shouldn’t exist. Remake Zhaitan’s fight, make it epic, add something very nice for us when we beat him in terms of plot, which promotes us to find other dragons, to venture into the depths of Tyria, to the highs of Tyria. Remake other dragon fights and make their connection between them and elder dragons they represent some kind of content: like for example we just finished Tequatl, he has something when he’s defeated, we get this item, it draws us to Orr again to activate a chain of events to venture to the Zhaitan’s Rest and search clues if maybe other dragons are somehow connected with his reign and he has a hint for us to defeat them. Then venture to fight revamped Shatterer to link the chain then fight Claw of Jormag. Penultimate should be announcement of new zones to fight Jormag and Kralkatorrik, maybe even jungle elder dragon.
All that was just my fantasy, but maybe it can help with some ideas.

The New Shatterer Fight

Aidan.4602

Good ideas, though. On paper, I’ve got a small plan:
-What if every boss’ difficulty is adjusted to match Teq’s?
-Then keep the same rewards?
-Then make them spawn at the same time?
People should split between the content and do whatever they like the most → 1. Less overflows – 2. More epic fights with dragons (they are DRAGONS, not butterflies; they should be epic, like Teq) – 3. Scaling of bosses should be taken into account if instead of ~200 participants, there will be between 50-100-150 per fight.

However, it’s just a plan on paper :P

Tequatl The Sunless - Engineers Role?

Aidan.4602

I’m currently on the defense of the turrets with Zerker items and Static Discharge/Rifle/Wrench build.
Engi can also fit in the main DPS stack with full power build and Grenades’ build;
Engi can fit AoE support in the main DPS stack;
Engi can def turrets with pretty much every build;
Engi can operate turrets like any other class.

4 out of 4 roles that engi can fit: def turrets, DPS, help DPS’es not to die or operate the turret. Pretty normal I think.
