Hello,
With the recent announcements of core game going free-to-play, two keys that I bought during 10€ sale might be pointless. I have initially bought those keys for my friends, but due to real-life activities they were yet unable to play the game (they haven’t even registered accounts).
I would like to ask if there is really no way to refund those 2 purchases as they were never used and core game being free-to-play? Or I should use these as alt accounts or give them to my friends to make their game full?
Thanks in advance!
Also Desolation here.

Fighting one world for almost a month is ‘indeed very engaging’.
Can confirm this. Everything has begun lagging when Seka joined our map.
This issue is already known as there are a lot of threads on this particular issue, so feel free to voice your thoughts there!
If people are struggling to complete living story because of that, I suggest to find an empty map and taxi people who want to finish the event there. Disrupting other people’s farm for the sake of doing good won’t yield good results either – the event will be farmed on more maps because no one knows when it’s going to be ‘fixed’ (read: nerfed/ruined).
Let me quote one user:
This conflict demonstrates the problem with vigilantes: They’re often worse than the problems they claim to solve.
If the people trying to disrupt these event farms really believed they were making the game better then I could understand their self-righteousness even if I didn’t agree with it. But what I’ve seen is clearly trolling and totally indefensible.
Anyway, I suggest this thread

An Engineer for me. I can do everything I want with this profession with a complete change of playstyle whenever I feel bored my the current one.
Why does it matter so much how other players play the game? Every time one of these farms comes up most of the toxicity arises when people intentionally antagonize the farmers. Why are you there in the first place if you have no interest in farming? I’m not gonna buy LS as an excuse since “usual toxicity” implies regular attendance.
Personally I can’t stand prolonged guard staff spam so I have zero interest in open-world farm. However, that thought process of “I don’t like how that player is making gold, but Anet won’t do anything about it so I’ll take matters into my own hands” is exactly what drives people to grief dungeon sellers. Nobody except Anet has the right to tell people how to play the game. A fix will come if it comes but until then you’re just as guilty of generating toxicity if you go out of your way to hassle those farmers.
I second that. Everyone chooses how he wants to play. Of course something has to be due to Living Story, but it also shouldn’t be a simple ‘champions won’t drop anything’. In that case, it would be infuriating to many. Maybe either completion or fail gives an opportunity to play the story, or respawn rate is much lower at succeed than at failure.
It have been already suggested, though, but: make event succeeding much more rewarding, for example, move event respawn from fail to completion.
It is indeed a very big design flaw.
Greetings!
After completion of the Triple Trouble event only a large boss chest spawned, and lots of participants, including myself, hadn’t received The Wurm’s Golden Chest. Note that it was my first and only wurm done today.
It may be only the Crimson wurm that is currently bugged, however I can’t confirm that.
That’s awesome :o I would like to have one :P
Couldn’t say better. They have done great job with this, I’m definitely impressed. If we continue to have things like that…Well you know.
This is great.
If you like almost every MMO, you should know that there is more beyond lvl 16 and that the start of a new character can be the most boring because its lacking skill choice.
Try to get to lvl 80 with a character you like to play. In that progres you earn enough skillpoints to choose the utility skills you want to use, not all have a huge cooldown.
Besides utility skills you also got traits wich you can tweek to your liking. At lvl 16 you haven’t unlucked a lot of traits, so there is not a lot of room to play.Get to level 80 and learn the profession and after that look back on what you wrote.
I must admit that instead of going through the leveling process to unlock core skills and something along those lines feels incredibly awesome to me. In WoW Wrath of the Lich King I once wanted to try elemental shaman and I had to reach level 75 in order to unlock Lava Burst, elemental core spell. All of this just to learn that their PvE rotation was: apply DoT → Lava Burst → Lightning Bolt x4 → apply same DoT → Lava Burst → …
---
To OP:
Read what I’ve just listed above. Also, you’ve got lots of utilities and traits to mess with when you reach the required level. With the system we currently have in game, you can create every single profession (read ‘class’), level it up a bit and try their skills in order to decide which one suits your play-style.
If you won’t like how any profession plays, then, unfortunately, the game wouldn’t be enjoyable.
P.S. Try Engineer and experiment with it. You can have 1 or 2 main weapons with 5 skills + 4 kits (read ‘utilities’) which replace your 1 up to 5 skills (e.g. Flamethrower . That way, you can forge your own way to play as Engineer or follow someone’s build.
i dont cry for attention, i didnt even know people knew me. LOL u think making a complaint is asking for attention? well arent u easily subdued.
I am sorry to say, but making non-constructive “feedback” (complaints) on forums hardly helps you.
Depends on how you define help. Clearly he seems to be getting off on everyone talking to and about him so yeah…
Probably yeah.

its disgraceful to even step foot in that man. over 2 years and u still got these people doing the same thing? REALLY??? is that even allowed?
Sometimes I occasionally log-in and play PvP just for fun. Sometimes I don’t. Lots of games besides GW hold my interest, and even in GW I just do whatever I want to do at that particular moment.
A suggestion: try other build? Professions?
It kinda works like Steam Overlay, which is completely fine. I suppose it’s okay to use this overlay.
That’s incredible… >_>
This one for me:
I believe that 200 gem price is pretty much reasonable & completely justifiable, and, as was mentioned above, will stimulate ANet to produce higher-quality content.
pure speculation below
Since I was browsing few other topics considering ‘Story Journal’ question, it let me to think that:
a) both open-world events and story instances will be available in these episodes due to the megaserver. People will be matched with other people if they, for example, choose ‘Escape from Lion’s Arch’
b) episodes may be like a bundle of 2+ releases. An example may be: “LS1 Finale Arc: Origins of Madness, Edge of the Mists (story pieces), Escape from LA, Battle for LA”; “Southsun Arc: Secret of Southsun, Last Stand at Southsun”; “Flame and Frost Arc” and so on..
Which also leads me to believe that next releases will be similar to the first Halloween, but with bi-weekly progressing. Imagine it starts with “Brisban Arc”, which is going to last 3-4 releases. I would be speculating that each of those releases won’t be sold separately, but instead in one ‘bundle’.
Just my two cents.
Big thanks to our Deso commanders, guilds, players! Glad I’m the part of such a strong community

Sky?
I think…
I went there without any knowledge, joined random commander which said needs melee, followed him, killed the boss when everyone was at 5-10% (people said they will tell us when should we land the last strike) and got gold at my first try in the new Pavillion. It didn’t force me to cooperate at the high level, I didn’t have to use teamspeak and was just relaxing after a tiring day. And I must say I enjoyed it. Watching people cheer in the chat every time we get gold makes me feel cozy inside, even though it’s not hard at all.
Note: I randomly joined a random instance of the Pavillion and randomly people began speaking about tagging, etc. No prior coordination.
Sometimes I swap my ‘red eye’ to Gas Mask.
I really do wish there was an instanced way to visit LS content because I spent most of the last year AFK due to RL. I would just like to be able to see/play some of it.
ANet once stated that they are considering options to make LS and PS replayable. Guess it’s gonna be Soon™ Valv—ANet Time
Also, some pieces of advice to Icykold:
you don’t have to follow a certain pattern of leveling in zones. Stay in one zone as much as you like. Experience gain is still the same. And I suggest venturing between major regions: from Queensdale to Wayfarer Foothills, to Caledon Forest, to Metrica Province, to Plains of Ashford. Explore, make your own adventure. Don’t follow a path.
It sounds to me he clearly doesn’t even want to enjoy the game, so please stop reporting me. =]
As for leveling. Complete maps, do hearts, do personal story, gather everything.
Whatever you do this game yields XP, so it shouldnt be an issue.
As for controls, this is the smoothest game i’ve ever had. WoW compared to this is really sluggish.
If i were you, i would avoid WvW until i get more game experience to see how things works, but seriously you won’t miss to much if you wait with that till lvl80.
Don’t worry, I understand you
First of all, please excuse Dalanor for such a harsh comment, as our community generally don’t really like World of Warcraft players because in general they want to find ‘another WoW’ to play in-between, but rather leave disappointed ranting about how this game is a ‘huge fail’.
Well, I can’t help you with controls, because to me everything felt just right since the beginning.
If you want to enjoy playing Guild Wars 2, you have to get rid of WoW mentality. It’s just a game, a very fun game which parts you can enjoy with your newfound guildmates or your own friends. I would like to ask you: have you been researching on what this game may offer to you? Because you might get disappointed if major points of this game is not for you. I, for instance, don’t like simulators that much, thus I just don’t play them.
I mentioned getting rid of current ‘WoW mentality’. It means: 1)do NOT ever rush to level 80, because level is pretty irrelevant; 2)we don’t have tiers of gear to chase each major patch (there are no raids btw); 3)it’s a GAME, not some kind of use-common-MMO-things MMORPG, but simply a game – it shouldn’t keep you occupied in it for eternity. It’s more like: play a few hours, have some random fun, maybe do some organised things, then logout and you may play other games or do your IRL things… Keep in mind, you’re not paying a subscription.
Exploration in this game is very rewarding. To level up, DO NOT go from heart to heart, from story mission to story mission. Instead, you may even turn off those things from a map and just go explore randomly! You’ll find random people with whom you can role-play, do events, explore things (Tyria is filled with tons of small details and you must decide whether you want to find them or not).
Edit: as runeblade said, there’s not some kind of carrot-on-a-stick for you to play as devs intended. Make your own goals. In WoW, most optimal way to experience the game is: gain level 15 -> go to one place and spam automatic Dungeon Finder -> grind some quest till level cap -> get X tier of gear -> go raid/PvP -> get Y tier of gear -> go raid/PvP -> get Z tier of gear -> go raid/PvP -> buy expansion -> grind to next level cap -> get N tier of gear -> go raid/PvP -> …
Here, if you want to do 100% world exploration – no problem. Finish personal story? Okay. Get tons of gold? Sure. Farm for gold or flip on the trading post? If you prefer. Go to PvP from level 1 ’cause you like PvPing? Why not.
Make your own goals and it will be one of your most fun and best experiences.

Guild Wars 2 is a very good game. I heard about it only 4 months before the release and it immediately captured my ‘gaming desires’.
After playing One-Massive Multiplayer Role-Playing Game-Which-Title-Should-Not-Be-Said for almost 7 years and witnessing other random MMORPG’s (free-to-play included) which felt extremely poor to me, I’m extremely happy that I’ve found this game.
As my experience in Guild Wars and my knowledge of it’s lore is non-existent, I was reading wiki and watching videos explaining the lore non-stop (thanks, WoodenPotatoes!). I am the person who likes exploring and experiencing everything what a game has to offer (not every game, but most RPG’s, MMORPG’s, RTS’es), it was a blast to go on an adventure here. Those little details in Tyria are incredible. I was stuck in Ascalon for a big chunk of my gameplay doing world exploration and just wandering in caves, ruins, occasionally finding jumping puzzles, mobs with chests, diving places.
Then I was invited to join Victory Is Life Eternal. Events, dungeons, missions, just chatting with them is so fun! Guilds are required to enjoy this game to it’s full, I must admit it.
Of course, there are flaws in this game, but instead of ranting about every single thing, I’m instead getting used to what’s already in the game without any high expectations. and may post some feedback sometimes, but mostly discussing in the Lore and Class forums.
And of course, I am hoping that this game will achieve a lot in future.
sigh
Why again?
If that were connected to mordremoth then that would confirm the nightmare court’s connection to the dragon. Or they just really like the same designs.
It should be noted that we don’t really know what Mordremoth’s corruption looks like yet
I guess Mordremoth’s corruption looks like the image below.
I would presume, summoned husks and shadow of the dragon should definitely be connected with the elder dragon’s corruption.

Megaservers are really good, because: it’s a Massively Multiplayer Online game and you will see lots of people wandering around doing their own things, grouping up for boss fights, roleplaying, chatting, doing other things. And it really feels great. From a player perspective (new and old players alike) this social improvement will adjust leveling experience of main and alt characters. Random encounters while on an adventure are also a major addition (help random group of players, venture forth to do more events, meet more people, group up, kill some champion events, chat underwater – that was what I’ve seen not long ago).
However, ArenaNet should seriously consider replying to critical suggestions and feedback on Megaserver structure on forums. A lot of things have to be vastly improved and issues have to be addressed in order for players to be able to enjoy Megaserver technology properly. I am talking about Guild Missions in particular.
This topic was raised quite a few times before the Suggestions forum was trashed. Maybe some kind of poll would help: Would you like to see the login screen from Guild Wars 2’s BWE make a return?
I once emailed ANet about this… It seems that if we get enough attention from the playerbase, they will consider enabling it.
The reply I’ve received:
Hello Kirill,
Thanks a lot for taking the time to share your ideas about Guild Wars 2.
I understand you wish the old login screen back. We have found that the best way for the development team to gather and review player feedback and suggestions is through our official forums. We ask players to post their ideas in our Official Forums, within the Suggestions sub-forum located here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions.
Members of the Development Team read the Suggestions Forum daily, and while they usually cannot respond to individual suggestions, the fact that team members can review those suggestions in a public forum helps them gauge the level of interest in a specific idea, and also allows other players to discuss and offer feedback of their own.

Exactly same problem with Guild Missions of Victory Is Life Eternal [VILE] on Desolation.
It’s a total mess as we can’t coordinate and co-operate, can’t complete missions properly, people are not getting rewards at all.
Megaservers are great on paper but are a mess in reality.
What is good
While exploring and leveling, it’s incredibly nice to see all those random people running around, helping and co-operating.
What HAS to be changed/added, which things should be addressed
Guilds are suffering because of this. Our guild recently couldn’t organize well for the missions and we had to re-complete them for quite a few times to get them done for majority of our playerbase. Also, Guild Challenge couldn’t be even started properly, as everyone was in different servers, making taxi the only way to organize somehow. (EDIT: Was writing this post while we were doing Guild Challenge. Halfway through the mission it was completed somehow then no one got the reward. Fix it asap.)
Suggestion
Add manual selection of servers to go into and an ability to create instances for guilds.
All we have to do is wait. Maybe it wasn’t Mordremoth’s corruption after all. Maybe someone intended to wake him and suddenly Scarlet appeared. Maybe all of this was planned. But I like the idea that there’s someone other than the dragon who was behind all this.
Hi!
In my opinion, this release was amazing! Rallying with others to prepare to fight knights feels awesome, so is the battle itself, the final instance, cutscenes and, of course, music – it is just epic. I would like to thank you, ANet, for bringing up this whole fight with such an epic melody!
If someone wants to hear the full ‘Battle on the Breachmaker’, it is on the ArenaNet’s official Soundcloud page or you can Google-Youtube it
Once again, awesome epilogue overall! Cheers!
After seeing every possible thing and knowing almost everything about the WarCraft lore and setting, after thousands of those quests (reading the quest description included), thousands times of Azeroth exploration and countless amount of dungeons/raids only to get another expansion to do the same thing another countless amount of times,..
…this beautifully-crafted and unique world of Tyria is a pearl on it’s own to me. Unfortunately, I wasn’t playing Guild Wars 1, but how gorgeous and marvelous this world feels to me isn’t to be described by words. Gameplay also feels very fluid and smooth to me. On the bonus side, I can focus on exploration, lore, adventure and gain levels for that easily without any leveling in mind.
Just awesome.
“I swear, cubs these days.”
“Kitten’s got sword, too. Back off!”
And also you’ve got very strong points. I would like to see how this discussion proceeds…
Considering that someone said about Living Story ahd ‘Game of Thrones’ TV show comparison, people will mostly think about the new dragon, see all connections to support these thoughts and BAM, it’s nothing like we were expecting. I’m thinking myself that it may be something related to the previous Guild Wars and not entirely a dragon. Or maybe something that is both from the original GW and a connection to the elder dragons which are currently the main threat to Tyria. Maybe even Zhaitan, but with an epic battle in the end
Or Primordius. Or Mordremoth. No one can be sure about that. They can do literally everything about the transition to the Living Story Season 2.
I have always wondered why the charr are played less than other races…
Their personal storyline is so kittening awesome. Each of their legion feels unique. It gives a feeling that you’re really a part of their culture and society.
After this picture: link
I fell in love with those new faces
1)Tengu
2)Kodan
3)Quaggan
—-
But knowing that quaggan won’t happen (:D), maybe Dwarves and their awakening?
I personally don’t like to make ratings, but a simplified one won’t hurt:
5/5 I liked how the name sounds, like something quiet, yet deadly. Like a knife in the dark, single precised blade hit or a bullet out of nowhere. I bet he’s a thief, engineer, or even a warrior.
Aidan of Ascalon (currently Anryck Edgesight, but I’m going to rename him) – a noble adventurer, willing to help those who find themselves in trouble. He uses his dignity to overcome troubles, because serious, thoughtful demeanor is the route to success. Though his warband has suffered many losses, with the help of old friends like Reeva, he was able to restore it. He has traveled on many lands, shores, caves and mountains of Tyria, yet he still hasn’t seen it all. Adventure awaits, when the danger is, this charr engineer, a proud member of Order of Whispers and Iron Legion, will not sit back in the corner.
I have created a charr female thief three times, but each time she got deleted cuz’ I ended up not liking how I named her :P Next time that I’m going to create a thief (after completing the stories of all races, including my main charr engineer :P), it’s definitely will be a female charr with white skin and black stripes, it gives an impression of a white tiger awaiting to strike. On the bright side, voice acting of a female charr is so fearsome and brutal…Just awesome.
tl;dr; I love charr. Ferocity-aligned female charr thief is surely a character I’d like to play.
I kept faith till the last moment, Desolation! I just knew you could to it, my fellow comrades! Congratulations to all of you: commanders, guilds and players, be you from Deso or from any other world!
Too bad can’t play now, but in heart, I’m always with you guys!
~Anryck Edgesight, [Victory Is Life Eternal]
Yes.
/15characters.
I’m not sure about Desolation, but each time I log in and see that Teq is up, overflows are instantly made for him.
