Guild Wars 2

I just want to say welcome to the game! I came from WoW myself and am perfectly happy with the change. My favorite bonus in GW2 vs WoW: NO LOOT DRAMA! Love it.

GW2 is just so open. You can level all the way to 80 in a starter zone if you want, or go out and explore. It’s so flexible.

I just thought it was nice that we have some variety now. I was getting tired of hunting down 15 different types of mobs everyday. It wasn’t hard; just annoying to me.

Is anyone else curious to see what winds up on the daily list each day? I think it’s a bit funny to see the difference each day. Better than the same thing every time.

If all you want is the looks, then that wouldn’t be an issue I guess.

That was…. interesting? I like the reference though. It’s too bad no one is ever around to stop the assassination. lol

Ooh! That’s a good one! There is a town in Wayfarer Foothills where the kids throw snowballs around. Players can grab those up too.

I see it this way. I came from World of Warcraft. Server transfer there is $25. Any changes to your character other than name, $25. Not to mention the $15 every month just to keep playing.

Now flip side to Guild Wars. No monthly fee. The currency used to buy things can actually be gotten for gold. I’m not a heavy farmer or anything myself. I’m lucky to get 50 silver a day. Was I willing to trade two weeks’ worth of earnings to turn over into a useless Quaggan backpack? Heck yeah!

That $20 (average) seems like a lot when you just look at the price itself. But if you think about it the other way, it’s really not that much. It would obviously be worth it to you to cough up the dough. If you can’t do it right now, maybe just put in $5 worth of Gems when you can until you have enough to go where you want.

That’s how I would do it anyway, but that’s me. Or just farm my fingers off until I could trade in enough gold.

Oh, geez. Yet another thread that starts out normal, then someone pops in and starts an argument because they don’t agree. Everyone has opinions; no need to be rude about it. If the mods have an issue, they can move the thread.

I agree with Selebrity. I wish it would stay open. Too bad it doesn’t scale with the space available to it instead of seeming to have a set height.

Other than personal aesthetic issues, I don’t have a problem with the tracker. It doesn’t get in my way. I kinda like being able to quick click and see what I have left to do. A bit faster than having my hero menu block half the screen just to see what I have left to do each day.

You can always try finding a beautiful area (I found a couple so far) with a lot of hiding places and try a guild ‘hide-and-seek’ event :P If it’s just for laughs, it’ll sure be fun :P
Back in WoW, we did that a couple of times, and it was fun as hell :P All on vent and let the giggles commence :P

Hide-n-seek is pretty fun to do. I just wouldn’t recommend a really big area to do it in unless a LOT of people are participating. Otherwise it takes forever to find the first person.

No, the game is definitely not perfect. I won’t lie and say I don’t have my gripes. But even with those little gripes, it’s still a great experience.

Wayfarer Hills is your zone. Just by roaming and doing events 24/7 you can level faster than going everywhere and doing hearts/exploration, especially after they added a few new events.

Just doing the Maw is half a level.

Take care of Maw = 6 events
Go up north to the Dome = 4 events
Between those two while waiting is a series of wurm events = 3 events
And the escort slightly south of the Dome and north of the wurm chain.

Those all happen pretty regularly and are easy to run. My elementalist has pretty much leveled at least once an hour through there.

I use my grenades way more than the pistols, but they have their uses too. The grenades put on some decent condition damage. That way I can keep dealing damage while I switch to one of my kits to heal up an ally. Elixir R in itself isn’t the greatest option, but the toolbelt skill tosses a rez to a party member. I can bring them back to life without having to stop healing or dealing (damage).

People use other music all the time. As long as you don’t make money off of it, it shouldn’t be a problem.

I’d be happy with just some kind of opacity setting. Mouse on, 100% opacity. Mouse off, whatever you want. That would be cool. And modular so we could keep our bottom bars and minimap at a higher opacity.

I never did like the whole “10% more damage to this” or “20% less cooldown on that” mess. That’s about 25% of the traits, give or take. Just add those in automatically, and traits become much more unique for everyone. Not “I have to have this many points in such-and-such so I can cast whatever more often.” It would allow more freedom in the trees and less must-haves.

If that makes things too overpowered, then lower them to say 5% more damage and 15% less cooldown. Either way, they’re annoying to have as traits.

I really hate having to go to say master on something to get the 20% reduction on a weapon, but everything else before that I don’t need. It’s a pain.

The “Prelude” could be like a prologue in a book. A lot of stuff may happen before the real story begins. We’ll just have to wait and see. Who knows? We may have a bigger chunk of the story next week. Okay, maybe next week is being too hopeful, but you get the idea.

Dodging is easy once you get the hang of it. Find a wurm that doesn’t spit things at you, let it go underground and tunnel to you, wait about one second, dodge, and evade pops up. Done. Of course trying to get that 15 times if you don’t always have good timing can be a pain. As long as you move just before the wurm pops back up, there will be no damage from the thing at all. You can run circles around it for hours.

The message suppression keeps people from posting those annoying — = and whatever other character pictures they make. Those are irritating. lol

But I do see the point with needing to relay information in WvW or even in dungeons. Maybe Anet could implement some kind of suppression lift in WvW and dungeons. That would make sense.

I don’t think it would be such a good idea to give Asura their own personal customizable golem. What would the other races get? They would have to get something equally custom built. Otherwise Asura would have an unfair advantage.

Back on the human thing. If in all other MMOs humans are the race chosen the most by players, wouldn’t it be wise as a company to spend a bit more effort on humans? Is it right? Not really. But it makes sense at least.

The uncommons are still on the bodies I think. The chests just hold the “good” stuff. At least that’s how it’s worked for me.

I have to say that I would feel the same if PVP got their own dailies; I barely even stomach WvW for the monthlies. Playing against other players is just not for me.

If you’re wanting tips on camera angles and such… Well, just play with the camera. You can make your character “disappear” by backing them against a wall or tree, then zooming in all the way. You can slightly alter the camera left or right too. The free camera option is pretty good to attempt action scenes with; just make sure to turn it off before actually playing the game again. With cropping and zooming on video editors, it’s possible to get what you want easily enough. My husband and I haven’t been all that creative on camera angles and such yet, so our videos aren’t very good for that right now. But the music videos I linked have some great examples.

And I will stop rambling now. lol I hope at least some of this helps.
