The ‘Commander’ abilities suggest some kind of skill in leadership and tactics, but at present they are a sign that the people that have them either:
a) Milked their guild members for money.
b) Have no life and just farm all day.

c) Bought 100g from Arena Net (by buying gems and then using the black-box “currency exchange”).

I was going to add that to the list, but thought that nobody would be stupid enough to think that spending around £183 on Gems to convert to Coin is a feasible method.
Seems I was wrong…

The ‘Commander’ abilities suggest some kind of skill in leadership and tactics, but at present they are a sign that the people that have them either:

To most people 100 Gold is a huge amount of money, and hardly anyone has a large guild to exploit, over 12 hours a day to grind Orr, and/or is stupid enough to bot.

Though, the people who DON’T do these things are often the ones highly suited to being Commanders.

Commanders should be elected by the players of their World, not dictated by unfair circumstances.

My proposal:
~Have a point tally of a sort, that players entering WvW can view and use to vote for the person that they want to be one of the multiple elected Commanders for their world.

~One vote per person.

~The multiple people with the most votes to their name gain the right to become Commanders.

~Players can change their vote to another person, so new Commanders can be made should the current ones become inactive or turn out to be not as good. A players vote gets reset at the start of the next World match-up.

~A player who is a Commander for an extended period of time will eventually become ineligible for the Commander role for a while.
This would be so the Commander line-up changes occasionally (the same people doing it all the time can become a bit stale), and to give other people the chance to become Commander and prove themselves. Also to aid the point below.

~Limit the amount of people from the same guild than can elect the same player to be a Commander.
This would make it harder for the big guilds to just get their own way anyway, to help stop the big guilds on a World from effectively declaring sole ownership of the ‘Commander’ ability, and give the normal population more of a say of who they want to follow.

Advantages:
~Due to the dynamic nature of such an election system, we would be able to elect new Commanders for when there are none currently in WvW, so we would be able to have someone with Commander abilities on the battlefield at most times, even outside of peak ‘Zerg’ hours

~Give the Worlds that currently have very few Commanders a fighting chance.

~It would help solve the ‘Mega-zerg’ problem.
A World being able to give Commander abilities to multiple people that are most voted for would mean more Commanders on the field, so there will be more ‘mini-zergs’ which would spread the players out more as they will have more ‘Oooh, shiny blue thing!’s to follow, instead of just one which is where the unstoppable and somewhat game-breaking ‘Mega-zergs’ are formed. Of course they will need to come together some times to take certain difficult objectives like keeps.

~An idea would be to have the amount of Commanders made in this way scale based on the amount of people currently in WvW. Again, this would help spread people around the map more.

~It would help with the ‘Player Culling’ issue (were large zergs don’t appear on-screen until they are already dancing on your corpse), for the reasons explained above.

~It would solve the following issue.
If nothing does change and the current system continues, then a whole new problem will arise as time goes on as WvW will end up with what will seem like everyone being a Commander, and the ‘Commander’ ability will lose its meaning and worth
More and more people will eventually become a Commander, due to the natural process of time going on and more of them coming into use, then by probability, more bad Commanders will arise.

Disadvantages:
~Might get abused by large groups of people banding together to influence the voting poll.
If this does happen, things will only end up like how they are now with the big guilds, so we will be no worse off than before.

~Commanders will just join together to create a ‘Mega-zerg’ anyway.
Same as above, will be no worse than what is happening now.

Like anything this will need testing/tweaking before it becomes safe to add to the game.

If nothing does change and this continues, then a whole new problem will arise as time goes on as WvW will end up with what will seem like everyone being a Commander.

TLDR; WvW Commanders should be elected by the people of their World, not bought.

Siege in WvW is just not complete without:

~Ladders: For invaders to climb, and that defenders can push over. Cheap to buy and cheap to build, but very easy to destroy. Destroyed once pushed over.

~Siege towers: Extremely slow moving, expensive (1 or 2 Gold?), lots of supply required to build, requires multiple players using it to make it move (i.e. pushing it), once it reaches a wall it drops a ramp from the top of it that lands on any section of wall in front of it. Stairs spiraling up the inside used for access.

~Fire braziers: Placed on walls and automatically acts as a Combo Field: Fire to anyone standing close enough to it. Extra damage to wooden targets (siege towers, ladders).

~Throw players into enemy bases using Trebuchets: Yes it sounds ridiculous, but also like a lot of fun. Perhaps they get put into some mini armoured golem dropsuit thing before getting launched, so they don’t just die from the landing impact.

Though, fun and feasible are often not the same thing, and many of the ideas we are having the devs will have already thought of.

I can confirm this.
Somehow ANet have changed what would be the Major Rune of the Noble into a Minor variant, meaning there is now 2 of the same item, despite the cloned one still costing 30 CM tokens.

I was in Fireheart Rise, and could have sworn that ‘Raw Candy Corn’ flashed up on my screen somewhere.

I am pretty sure there is an internal cooldown on combo finishers in combo fields Arcanorum Ignis. But I am not 100% sure. Casting both the arcane blast and wave at the same time do not provide both combo finisher buffs. Although, if I am wrong, then I guess we can add that to the list of bugs.

I urge everyone who sees this thread to at least post ‘I agree’ or something similar so ANet can see how much this feature is wanted.

What we were discussing over at GW2RP was having some kind of ‘Bot poaching kit’ players could use to hunt bots with.

We got the idea from how seeing as the bots just pick up anything nearby when they kill something, and that dropping items such as Fireworks or a Box o’ Fun, etc. near them makes them lose the use of their normal weapons and they die, or run around helpless, that ANet should give every person a free, unlimited bundle item that they can drop on the ground near bots for them to pick up.
Perhaps have these items ask the person a timed question when they pick it up, if they don’t answer, they get logged out.

ANet, please actually take these ideas into consideration and do something about this problem and not hide your head in the sand, as the current bot situation is becoming very frustrating for your decent players.

I agree. GW1 guilds had this ‘Last logged on:’ feature, which made keeping track of the inactives a doddle.

Now, it needs a ‘Last represented:’ thing to show how long ago that person represented your guild. Maybe have it only visible to people with sufficient rank in the guild.

Yea, for a game with such little endgame, things like RP become increasingly prevalent.

I’m not sure where but I recall overhearing about how Guild Halls might have chairs you can sit on and more interactive objects. One can at least assume Player Housing will have these things.
It would probably be too much work for ANet to go through the game again redoing chairs and such to be considered worthwhile.

Eles were often the main DPS profession, and they has almost no party support skills.

Looking at this seemingly endless list of problems it’s not hard to see why Eles are generally regarded as the weakest profession in the game.
Come on ANet, this is pathetic… It seems like they have a grudge against Eles or something. Most of these are stupidly simple issues that look like they would take 15 mins to fix all of…

But back on topic…

Evasive Arcana:
After dodging, the resulting spell in any attunement creates a blast combo finisher. Its doesn’t say anything about it making a blast combo finisher in the tooltip.

Fire: Flame Burst, normally not a combo finisher.
Water: Cleansing Wave, normally not a combo finisher.
Air: Blinding Flash, normally not a combo finisher.
Earth: Only the Churning Earth skill is actually meant to be a blast combo finisher.

I’m not sure if this is intended, it is sure nice to have more combo finishers while using a staff, but still might be a bug, if only a tooltip bug.

Conjured Weapon Questions

I think conjured weapons are almost useless in practical applications and I very rarely find myself using them.
They don’t deal any considerable damage more than my normal weapons, have no bonus stats of their own to compensate, and are nowhere as versatile as having 4 different elements.
Would I rather have access to my normal 20 weapon skills, or 5 crappy conjured ones?
Of course the 20…

The type of dual-wielding you had in mind would be cool, but only Earth Shield and Flame Axe would benefit from this.

My suggestion would be that conjured weapons should be swappable to during combat, like any other profession can swap weapons, but only if we have a conjured weapon active.

Update:
Still having problems. Now I’m getting the (Code=7:11:3:189:101) error, still getting DCed every 5ish minutes.
I live in England and my ISP is Virgin Media.

Also on a possibly unrelated note, sometimes when I do get disconnected from GW2, my whole internet goes down too for a few minutes. I’m almost 100% sure its not my internet connection or anything wrong on my end as this only happens with GW2.

I log in and can play for up to about 5 minutes, then BAM!
‘Network error.
(Code=3032:1002:3:4350:101)’

This started yesterday I think and cant seem to fix it.

Tried the /clientport 80 in the target line thing.
Forwarded the relevant ports.
No antiviruses running in background.
Internet works fine for everything else.

I live in EU so I don’t think I’m having the problem you guys seem to be having with ISPs in NA.

Same here. Can’t say a thing. I’m guessing this is ANet’s way of trying to deal with the bots, but it doesn’t really work.

ANet have been quite stupid about the LFG issue in this game. GW1 had a really good LFG system. You said LFG, LFP, LFwhatever at the start of your message and it would automatically put you onto the list of ‘Looking for…’ people in the Search window so you didn’t have to keep spamming. Why this has been removed I cant fathom but I do hope they put it back in.

These stairs aren’t used for access to the top of the wall, they aren’t actually part of the wall so don’t get knocked down with it. This stairs/ramp section is behind the wall and is used to get to the ‘upper’ section of the courtyard area, nothing to do with the walls themselves. See the 1st part of the image.

Ok, so last night while waging a mighty siege against the Ring of Fire-held Stonemist Castle, spending about an hour trebucheing a single section of fortified of wall, we found that once the wall fell, we could not breach to the inner courtyard area due to the stairs that ran along the inside of the wall blocked the gap that was created by the destroyed wall.
This made a lot of people, in particular the trebuchet operators, rather annoyed, and we dubbed this the ‘troll wall’.

I took some screenshots and arranged them below. On the last image showing the map, the red circle is the section of wall.
Stonemist here had the Fortified Walls upgrade.

Ignore where all of the player icons are going, they are going in another wall section we knocked down, which was fine.

ANet please recruit this person, you would be idiots not to.

I agree 100% with what had been said.
Getting insta-killed more times than I can count on my fingers and toes then having to fork out the repair costs is not what I came to this game to do.
They have always been boasting about this ‘we just don’t want players to grind in Guild Wars 2’ notion yet here we are with individual enemies taking several minutes to kill and some bosses taking up to 20 minutes of facerolling.
I get a lot more frustration and boredom out of the game than fun while doing dungeons in their current state.
I try to explain or gather other peoples opinions on these matters while in-game but most often people accuse me of trolling or being a noob and just barricade themselves behind walls of ignorance and simply refuse to accept that there may be a flaw with what they have been tricked into believing is a ‘perfect game’.
