Legendary Weapons - an appeal to ArenaNet

Honestly as long as the new legendary weapons are NOT tradable on the TP, then I will take whatever they look like.
You do realize asking them not to be tradable is kinda stupid. It won’t achieve what you want. people will still buy all the mats for it on TP
As long as the precursors aren’t RNG I could agree to not having them on TP but if the :alternate method to get Precursors" is still laden with RNG. they better dam well be tradeable RNG =/= Skill so claims that Legendaries show off skill/mastery of the game is utter BS. it shows you either got lucky or did countless hours of grinding.

You know what I think would make good legendaries in gw2, from guild wars 1. the first things that come to mind are the magmas shield, obsidian edge(of course this would get some kind of aura), emerald- either blade or edge- one of them changed color in lighting, the obsidian skin earth staff(it had a floating piece of obsidian at the end of it), diamond aegis(this would definitely get some kind of aura too). I have more, but I can’t find them in my characters inventory, not that i ever had the emerald one, but there were others.
Diamond Aegis is already in game. I have it. in fact almost all the legacy skins are true legendary weapons.
Fiery Dragon Sword
Diamond Aegis
Mountaincall
Clawed Scepter
and the others
These are in fact weapons of legend.
The scepter was a gift to the hero that defeated Shiro
The Ithas Longbow. a weapon that belonged to Logan’s ancestor.
Mountaincall is a call back to Stormcaller
Fiery Dragon Sword. AKA I can’t believe it’s not Sohothin.
Spec, only 1 weapon, but how many skills?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Argol Vazin.3061
People are assuming that the specialization will only unlock one weapon. and a set of skills for said weapon.
I don’t remember hearing or seeing confirmation this is the case
now chances are this is the case but I like to think that specialization changes skills across all their weapons. perhaps even removing a weapon.
Do you think this might be the case considering some specs, such as mez. only get 2 skills due to having the shield as their new weapon. where as druid gets 5
whispers of "Cantha" in the HoT cinematic?!
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

It does sound like someone whispering Cantha, but it was probably complete accident generated by the various effects going on in that scene.
Thank you for being the first person actually listening to the whispering sound and not just blaming me to be crazy lol! I agree that it might be an accident, but we can all agree that is is a whisper there and I do strongly believe Cantha is a possible word: the whispering starts with a consonant, then an A vocal, then more consonant sound, and then an ending A vocal. That was the reason I suggested Cantha, because it matches that description (I couldn’t find any other “relevant” words that did right now).
Yeah it is dramatic whispering to emphasize the mystic nature of finding a golden structure, but yes it can be described as sounding like Cantha. or any over word or words that follow the same structure.
Specializations Change Class Fundamentals

well if you know druids from stuff like D&D. Druids still have pets. Wall of Fur is a phrase I have heard many times relating to Druids in Table top RPGs due to the animal companions and summon nature ally. I wouldn’t be surprised if instead the Druid pet is more passive and the new mechanic is wild shape
Outfits? F dat S.
… Unless it’s Countess Anise’s outfit. That’s the only Outfit I would ever actually buy with real money, especially if the male version is the exact same as the female version. C’mon ArenaNet, let my male characters dress in drag.
I agree whole heartedly…except the first part. I like muh outfits.
Some interesting suggestions. However, I think most weapons could be made to work with all professions personally. If they can make greatsword a ranged weapon for mesmer they can make a torch shoot water spells.
Another thing to consider is not just whether the wepoan would work aesthetically or thematically, but they stated that the new specializations will be filling a gap that the profession may have. As an example, the Thief lacks support compared to other professions, so their specialization may well be a more supportive role. As much as I think rifle would fit the thief, I am not sure it would make an ideal support weapon. But who knows, anything is possible.
I am intrigued by how the engineer will use the hammer. As the hammer is traditionally a controlling weapon and the engineer is already strong in that role, it will be interesting to see what abilities the engi hammer will provide.
My guesses would be as follows:
Mesmer: Shield = A more tanky control based role.
Engineer: Hammer = Not sure what role this will fill as the engi seems pretty good all round.
Ranger: Staff = Maybe more support and control? Not sure is I have not played ranger as much as other professions.
Necromancer: Greatsword = Might be a more direct damage burst role, as necros can lack in that regard sometimes.
Thief: Either Off-hand Sword/Rifle = I would guess a more supportive role, as they are pretty strong on the damage and control front, and can evade like no body’s business, so can be pretty tanky if built right.
Guardian: Longbow = Long range direct damage maybe?
Warrior: Staff (as a melee weapon) = Not sure what role this will fill, maybe support? The warrior seems pretty strong all round I think, though maybe less so in support.
Elementalist: Mace = Not sure why but I can picture the ele using a mace, but as they are pretty good all round I am not sure what role it will fill. Maybe more control oriented? To be honest, it is a very difficult thing to guess, but I am really looking forward to finding out.
definitely ele with Sword. considering Spellswords/Gish are a popular style and the dagger isn;t exactly the melee weapon I expected when I first played the game.
Actually ,Spear is the most used weapon on history of mankind….but sadly Anet don’t see it that way. I will be very disappointed if warrior don’t get spear or DH axe or at least a staff . Sorry but warrior is a MALE Class end spear is a must have weapon on hes armory . Spear is the first weapon created more then 5 mill years ago but i guess history don’t apply in GW2…..http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spear
Oh well SC is coming end my HYPE is over learning that warrior will get some junk weapon that probably wont even apply for a warrior..well to bad
This expatiation will make or break the game for me end so far …..no spear…no money
Have a nice day !
Um. WTF was with that uncalled for burst of “MALE class” nonsense. I mean I am not going to throw around the word sexism but seriously. that was just out of nowhere and uncalled for.
I will never understand why Developers do this.
Firth Bethesda teased us with Spears in Skyrim and now Anet.
Spears are the most common military weapon right next to swords. in fact spears saw more use due to their versatility. it boggle the mind that spears are often depicted as just a two handed weapon. or just a throwing weapon when it could be used 1h,2h and thrown.
The assets are in the game there is no need to make a slew of new skins. all they have to do is translate the spear from water to land. they could have a specialization to make use of this.
Warrior>Soldier, 2 handed spear
Guardian > Knight, Spear and shield
So I have gone to the locations that I was told I could find them. Metrica province, akk wilds and Brisban wildlands Koga ruins/shattered henge
I cannot find one anywhere. Akk wilds is the most promising but they are all hostile jaguars.
Can anyone point me in the direction of one I can tame. keeping in mind I am lvl 20
So I just whipped up this variant on Fresh air. this is for PvE mostly. I am sticking with exotics as they are readily available. I may also use this for fract.
Anyway the idea is to get decent DPS while keeping some survivability and exploiting the burning most enemies suffer. I may change my Grandmaster Fire to V to add to that.
Not sure if I should sac survivability for extra Crit.
I was going to add food buffs to the mix but decided I wanted the calculations without food and that in most cases I would have MF
As I said I might do Fractals. but I have on;y done them maybe 3 times so I have next to no experience.
you can preview it in the pvp lockers if you want a better idea of how it looks on your character
that doesn’t really answer my question, like at all.
Is it dyeable?
At the moment I am doing some HoM faming and got enough points for the Dragon sword. I then noticed the Icelord Diadem. It looks cool but I was wondering if it can be dyed. I really don’t want to farm for it only to find that I can’t match it with my outfits.
It’s like I said. it doesn’t really make sense in lore that they don’t use spears when they have a constant threat of Centaurs. I would like to see them charging into a wall of spears and locked shields. doubt they would act so tough after that.
Well the main idea of the Stance would be for tanking and yes, in WvW be a good tactical thing, building a Phalanx unit. Movement would be heavily reduced so you can’t zerg and you would get punished by AoEs. and you also have a very limited attack action, it wouldn’t be a constant spam, it would be a slow but steady stab. Advance and fall back would be a method of dodging without breaking stance. berhaps Advance gives some might, Fall back gives some regen to simulate pressing an attack or regrouping.
I just have this awesome image of Players forming a spear wall, moving towards the enemy with Rangers behind them ready to unleash volly. Can anyone tell I am a total war and Mount and Blade fan XD
Well as I mentioned. Spear and shield is one of my favouite weapon styles. it could be called Lance but to be fair. Spear should not be an underwater thing, that should be called a harpoon.
and I did mention that it would be for other classes, I was just too lazy think up class specific stuff.
well I have never played a warrior and had to Google what 100b was. but yeah the very reason I never touched Warrior was because of the lack of spear and shield combat. I am a very big fan of pole arms. It’s why I play a Lancer in TERA.
When I first heard spears where a weapon I was excited to make a warrior or Guardian for some fun Spear and shield action. but of course I was greatly disappointed.
I will base this on Warrior just because I can’t be bothered with others
When equiped normally, it would be a two handed weapon, when equiped with a shield, instead of the normal shield skills, you get special combination skills.
Spear and Shield .
1: Stab > jab > sweep. Sweep can hit multiple targets,
2: assault (just like Zealot’s fury)
3: Charge, holds the spear out and runs forward doing constant damage, does knockback
4: Spear defense. Assumes a defensive stance, reducing damage but reducing movement. (skill bar is replaced with 1 stab, 2 shield bash 3 fall back. 4 advance.)
5: Counter strike > Counter throw (Same as ranger)
may not be the best example of skills but still, give us some spear and shield love. In a world where war is a major issue, it makes no sense that everyone would be waving around swords especially against centaur. Centaur would lose their natural advantage when it comes to them charging at a phalanx.
Oh this brings me back to the days of early Dark souls. people crying for the fog ring to be removed. and let me tell you, Fog ring was OP. In a game like Guild wars 2, stealth is only a minor annoyance, it doesn’t completely negate a core game mechanic.
I have a thief, only lvl 9 so I have no idea how Traits really effect anything yet, but I do know that my only use for stealth is for ambush attacks, meaning as others have said. I would be in stealth for maybe a second just to get a backstab.
I feel absolutely ripped off. I got this game just before christmas, First thing I do, like many F2P MMO is go to the store and look for cool outfits. I got the wintersday outfit and then find that is is a waste of money, I never wear it.
Please let vanity items be used to place over armour during combat. I play a female elementalist. she wears dresses in combat already. so why can’t she fight in her wintersday dress
