A whittling ranger becomes viable by forcing his opponent to whittle
Heylo, My experience is jaguar shreds things and is very helpful. I just wanted to point out a pve solo use of stealth I sometimes use.
PvP as a focused pet is toast 6 seconds of stealth on your pet while it keeps doing damage is great. It’s CD’s aren’t bad either.
If we get any more weapons honestly I’d prefer we get the hammer…if only for nostalgia’s sake. Bring back the bunny thumpers!!!
MMm hammers, I love hammers…..A nice two hand axe wouldn’t hurt my feelings either.
functionally you do need to create differentiation between classes and within the adventurers engineer’s fit rifles alot better so I really don’t see us getting them.
You have bow, pet has aggro, you drop traps pet goes stealth, mobs run over traps while pet keeps dealing damage while no longer getting hit. It makes a higher damage pet more survivable while maintaining pet damage.
Of course if your using a SB and want the backside maybe you don’t like this.
Jaguar stealth to haste also seems to unload better than just haste no stealth but that could be rnd chance.
The challenge of sword is it is designed as a low skill weapon. It’s design is about keeping you on a target automatically in autoleap pilot and giving you auto evades that don’t involve using dodge.
Now we all know being glued to a target is bad so we develop work arounds. Turn off auto attack. OK this lets you control swing and gives you control while maintaining the easy leap to target functionality of the 1 chain. Largest downside is when you use a haste your finger better be real fast.
Anyone saying it’s a high skill cap weapon is off target it’s not. It’s a I don’t know how to stay on a melee target with a melee weapon skill that hinders those who want more control that you can work around to get proper functionality.
Did not understand what’s good in this “interrupt” trait? It just makes it possible to attack while interrupt … no?
When you interupt an opponent’s cast time for lack of a better word it gives you and your pet an instant extra attack(Facing rules apply as well as interupting them). Obviously for the pet that means it has to be in range but for you you are in range (stability is a pita obviously). It can only occur every five seconds so it essentially requires you to spot the wind up and interupt your opponent to get the extra attack. Greatsword has 2 interupts (KB and daze stun) Longbow has 1 in the knockback. And your pets to get the opponent to burn the stun break. Wasn’t able to determine if pet stuns were triggering it but really not necessary with f2 predictability having 3 controllable interupts and a 5 second CD on weapons is all you need. The pets added CC is alot of disruption and damage mitigation and positioning potential regardless.
Builds pretty much 100% on you to react and position. Wasn’t a quick kill with all the dancing positioning dodging. Sort of a dance like a butterfly build with controlled uppercut potential.
I thought the 20% chance only applied to multi-target shots. Single arrows should apply regen 100% right?
Different shots have different %.
Longbow 3 and 4 are 100%.
Shortbow 3,4,5 100%
Dagger – 5 100%
Axe 4 – 100% 5 Whirl 100% (On a reflection of missile I think however)
I agree it’s a bit low but using 30 in skirmishing to get the extra hit for you and the pet of interupt every five seconds, using two heavy interupt pets (I liked Spider Wolf for the range start) and working it with Longbow in a more balanced damage defense build it’s pretty durable in the non competitive environment and you apply large amounts of disruptive CC to your target between GS/LB and pets. Seemed to work better with a big snare(I like frost trap to extend CD’s and larger snare%) to keep your pet on target and ease positioning more reliably. More of an outlast build unlike some of the quick burndown options available.
Swords big problem at the moment is it’s animations locking you out of dodge even if you take it off autoattack. PvE work not a big issue, PvP annoying.
GS dodges on demand and interupts/controls and for now that’s it’s advantage. I’ld agree it could use more damage but there is definite fun potential with it in hotjoin.
Was playing around with this build;

Durable, burst potential highly finite, enjoyable 1v1. Condition removal from gear(triggering elite longbow crit or elite activation.) Crit coming from regular weapon swaps. Would love to see the damage buffed a bit however.
3) Spirits aren’t bad… there are 2 main ways to use them 1) use them for their passive and place them somewhere that they wont be fought that much or 2) use them for their active and/or natures vengance, and put them in the thick of things, both work really well even with no traits, i personally prefer the former but i will use them for the latter when the need arises.
I think what people find frustrating is if you make them mobile they become less valuable because they die if sneezed upon. Basically your only points in them should be increasing the proc chance and possibly active effect on death since they will die. Stow them within@ 600 radius out of LOS likely AOE area of enemy. Because lets face it if the enemy spots em the extra HP doesn’t matter nor does it if they are following you.
In defensive positions they can be helpful.
It’ld be nice if their AOE radius could be increased and CD reduced. I’ld find that alot more valuable than moving with me as weak as they are. Perhaps have the actives generate a combo field.
I’ve seen the vids that led to their adjustment and understand how OP they were in beta but they are more than a bit frustrating now.
axe/torch to Sword/Axe using fire trap / poison trap(no combo field) and torch field waterfield.
the sword axe conjunction gives you a leap-Missile and whirl on demand.
Flaming axes from the 2 skill through a fire field is kinda cool looking but don’t think it really does much.
you can also switch pets to a drake and hope for the tail swipe blast finisher when it comes active just don’t hit your f2.
The sword/Axe weapon combo gives you the most options of triggering your combo field as well as makes gathering 2-3 mobs to a spot with your pet easy. I kinda found PvE levelling with a bow boring this aoe method I find somewhat fun.
(Not saying it’s the most effective but it AOE’s stuff down pretty well. If you switch pets losing the masters bond benefits in PvE isn’t recomended on anything but easy.)
You get a PvP system that is based on skill not time spent. For some that is a huge plus because that means winning proves ability and losing proves lack thereof.
A true competitive environment.
Some people want other systems and every other MMO offers them.
