Anybody have a score update?

There is no point, at all, in trying to craft anything unusual for profit for the TP.

I share your concern that crafting is not going to be a viable method of making money but I don’t think your options will fix things.

First of, I agree that having a preview feature would be great, I hope they add that soon. However, there has to be some sort of risk involved with selling which is why I don’t believe Anet will introduce any sort of refund or “uncraft” option. They are also against any way of transforming karma into gold, so that option is out.

Honestly I think it is a matter of just waiting it out. When people first get to 80 they want to get their exotics as fast as possible so I’m not sue how many people actually care about the look at first. However, once they have their exotics, there isn’t anything better to aim for stat-wise. At this point I believe people will start to care more about getting a specific look from their armor so hopefully this will provide a better market for people that can craft those rare pieces.

How long it takes for this to happen? I have no idea, but I wouldn’t give up hope just yet, just keep an eye on the TP.

Thank you very much for taking the time to post this, there is so much good information here. I especially enjoyed your suggestions of weapon synergy, it has caused me to re-evaluate my opinions on some of the weapons, and ultimately I think I’m a better player for it, so thank you!

Issues with 'Join In' and playing with party members

Hello, a friend and I are having trouble joining in on story quests. Before the update as of Sep. 10th we were able to join in on each other’s story quests as long we were in a party and on same server (Overflow or otherwise, joining same world server was not a problem).
When nearing or clicking on ‘enter instance’ there is no option for the other member of the party to join the story instance.
Server: Tarnished coast.
Location: Storm Bluff Isle, Demon’s Maw
Quest: An Apple a day and Mightier than the Sword.
Party Size: 2

Same issue…
Server: Northern Shiverpeaks
Zone: Gendarran Fields
Quest: Ever Vigilant
Party Size: 2, or 3

My wife and I have the same problem…

Server: Stormbluff Isle
Zone: Kessex Hills
Quest: Either of our personal stories
Party: 2

I think Flashing Blade would be OP if you added more damage, you already get a teleport and a blind out of it which is pretty significant. I don’t find the cooldown to be bad personally.

Don’t underestimate the power of blind, as guardians we have the lowest base health out of ANY of the other classes. To compensate for this, we have heavy armor but also a ton of ways to mitigate or completely avoid damage. With the sword/focus we have access to 2 blinds, 3 blocks, and 1 range reflect/block. Add on top of that our aegis and dodge rolls and it gets hard to even land a hit on us.

Centurion wrote a great article on how to maximize the defensive abilities of the guardian and turn them into offensive tools as well:

Dual wield 1h swords

Lol dual shielder!

nah Guardians don’t need to and shouldn’t dual wield if every one (or every profession/class) did it it would be boring and even more over rated well that’s just my opinion.

In addtion to the GW classes I feel that Guardians are based on on the D&D equivalent of Clerics but they are cool because they don’t actually follow a deity they just go out and heal their buddies and face punch what ever tries to hurt the softer magically delicious professions because that’s the nice thing to do when you have healing powers instead of trying to convert people or what ever. I think if they dual wielded it would break the aesthetic of the class that makes them defenders (one who guards, Guardians!!)

There’s plenty of ways to put the hurt on with Guardians for starters use Zeal to up your power. My favorite and general purpose set up for a guardian is to use a two handed sword or hammer if you really want to maim something and a mace and shield for when things get ugly and you need to ball up in defense mode.

I like the one handed sword but I’m having trouble settling on my offhand companion.

I love the synergy between 1h sword and focus: the double blind you get is great for survivability not even counting the 3 blocks you get as well.

I have also really started enjoying the torch for the extra dps, its nice to clear out a bunch of trash mobs and just looks awesome

I agree with Aven, DW just doesn’t fit the “theme” of a guardian imo.

I feel that the guardian can personify 3 different “roles”:

1) the defender – 1 h weapon and shield (or something defensive)

2) the zealot – big 2 h weapon like the great sword and hammer

3) battlemage/combat medic – supported with staff and scepter

This is just my personal take on how weapons fit the guardians “personality”

Zealot is where i personally think dual swords would fit. When i think of a zealous avenger i think of a being eather with dual weapons or a single big weapon. I’ve also see cases of the defender using two weapons to block and parry which in this game parry would be very on par with everything. Your not strong enough to block that giant but i can change the direction of that weapon which i think would be cool. Now i will admit the 2nd of those two would be closer to a blade dancer type. But still would fit.

Parry would be a very cool mechanic to add, I agree, though I still think it would fit better with warriors and thieves. The guardian supplements his/her weapon skills with magic ie: blinds, fire, bubbles. Parrying and DW require more dexterity to accomplish. That’s the way I see it anyway

Can someone help with a burn/blind build?

Here is something I threw together: http://gw2skills.net/editor/en/?fUUQRApd8flYgSDXGSOEm4Eh1DAeQ/VpIe17ShCfIA

You can change some of the traits to suit your personal taste but the main ones you want are: Fiery Wrath, Blind Exposure, and Defender’s Flame.

DF and FW are a great combo to turn your defence into a nice offence. With Mace and Focus you have access to 4 different blocks, and if you switch your heal to Shelter thats even more dmg.

I personally love the 1-hand sword, great mobility and a nice mix of defence and offence, and the torch adds more burning damage as well.

Hope that helps

Range with Gaurdian, does it worth it?

I love the Scepter/shield combo. The immobilize is nice in pvp for chasing down or running away, and it helps against tough enemies in pve.

The #2 skill is also nice to throw down on a bunch of grouped up mobs for some decent aoe damage.

The guardian is far and away more effective in melee range, but I think the scepter does a nice job of offering us a ranged option when we need it.
