How does Radiant Fire work when you don’t have a torch equipped?

It just…does?

There’s no torch really involved in the animation. You just get blue flames around you and apply burning to nearby enemies.

edit Note from the wiki: Zealot’s Flame will trigger regardless of weapon used. However, when wielding a torch, you will gain access to the Zealot’s Fire sequence skill as if you had cast Zealot’s Flame from the skill bar. The two versions of the skill use separate cooldown timers, making it possible to use the sequence skill twice in quick succession.

To each their own I suppose, but I think this is way more fun and engaging. I’m not sure how people think this is more of a grind than the original method.

I loved the first collection, and how the tasks you are doing relate to the overall theme of the weapon. For those complaining that there is no story, did you read the text for the collection?

I’m now working on building up the required materials to craft the first version of the pre cursor and while it will take a considerable amount of effort, I much prefer having these smaller milestones to aim for than just “grind 1000 gold”

In my opinion, the biggest mistake they made with the original Legendaries was making the pre cursors tradeable. I am very happy to see that they fixed that with the 2nd gen weapons. Now when you see someone with H.O.P.E. or Evermore, you’ll know without a doubt that they earned it.

They have completely shifted development away from the original dungeons.

For the foreseeable future, fractals will be the go to 5-man content. No specifics on when we will be getting new fractals have been announced.

Raids will be out in a few weeks (no official date has been given)

Seriously though, I was basing the new content on the fact that levels 51-100 didn’t exist prior to HoT.

Now I do agree that its not very satisfying still having the same fractals after 2+ years, and I think they really need to address that if they want people to continue playing fractals. Adding a Legendary collection is nice, and I’m looking forward to working my way towards that but they really need to add fresh content and do it soon

I think we can agree that as a business, their main goal is to make money. Their strategy for doing this is to make a game that people will pay to play. In HoT, they have added incentives in the form of more features and rewards to existing content.

If they don’t make it more appealing to buy and play the new expansion than why would anyone bother?

I don’t think that the ability to continue playing a part of the game that was part of the core experience should be penalized just because of a revamp that really wasn’t new content.

Nothing is stopping you from continuing to play the existing 1-50 fractal content. Levels 51+ are HoT content, which you can technically still access, albeit with greater difficulty, but the fact that you are even able to do so seems generous to me.

As for the ascended salvage kit, the only purpose that serves is to provide mats for the Legendary pre cursor crafting which is also HoT only content, so there is no need for f2p players to have access to it.

There’s nothing new about fractal 51-100 aside from the numbers. The agony ticks are higher, but it’s still the same tune. Even the instabilities are from previous instabilities, just moved around. Unless you consider more HP new content?

I was talking about ascended salvaging. I was just referring to infusion extraction to upgrade my agony resistance.

If you pay for a season’s pass at Disneyland and suddenly they told you that you can stand in the line, but you can’t ride the rides until you ‘upgrade’ your pass because they decided to let people go around twice. That seems hardly fair. I think if you’re familiar with fractal content you can see right away this is hardly ‘new’ content. I guess they’re very generous that they even allow me to log into the game since I only paid for the original.

That analogy doesn’t work. It would be more accurate to say that you bought a season pass for Disneyland which included the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and MGM studios. Then they later came out with the Animal Kingdom, would you expect to have that included in the old pass? No, that would be ridiculous, its a new attraction so you need a new ticket.

Now, you can make the argument that the new fractal content is not worthwhile content and therefore you don’t want to pay for it but that is subjective and something we must individually decide for ourselves.

I have been agonizing over my traits and can’t choose between Zeal and Radiance. I have a hard time letting go of the Virtues line, especially with how good SJ and PW can be.

Seriously though, you’re acting like you can’t even play fractals. I’ve did a few runs this weekend and felt suitably rewarded for my efforts and I haven’t put any points into the fractal mastery.

wouldn’t guild activities within the guild hall be universally more fun (for the whole guild) if the entire guild could participate? Do you think they could be less fun when the whole guild can’t participate in a guild activity because some don’t own HoT?

If people who haven’t purchased the expansion feel left out because they can’t play the content in the expansion there is a simple solution…..buy the expansion!

So I’ve been playing my warrior for the past two weeks and I’ve discovered a build that is super fun and satisfying to play. I’m currently just using it for map completion, as it is a “for fun” build but I want to get yall’s opinion on it and see what areas I could improve upon and if its worth investing in the gear I would need to make it the best it can be.

Its alittle unorthodox I know, but hear me out. Reasons why I like this build:

1) I’m working on my Mace weapon master
2) Its very satisfying using my stuns properly to interrupt an enemy and I am further rewarded by several of the traits
3) Physical skills are alot of fun
4) Near 100% uptime on Weakness and Vulnerability
5) Reflection on block is pretty sweet
6) Between timing blocks and interrupts, it is a very active and engaging playstyle

I’m torn on what gear would be best for this build. Should I stick with the tried and true Zerker stats and treat the confusion as a nice bonus? Should I double down on the confusion since I would get 9 stacks with each interrupt between traits and perplexity runes and go for Sinister? Or should I split the difference and try Celestial?

Like I said in the beginning, this is mainly a build for fun, but I’m hoping that this build could be useful in HoT when we have more enemies with break bars and control could be more useful than it is currently.

I didn’t like the fact that personal rewards were tied to individual event completion. This encourages a selfish play style where everyone just does enough to tag an event and then moves on to the next one. I’d much rather see rewards tied to map-wide completion so that the focus is on us coming together to defeat our enemies, which is the strength of the dynamic event system.

I’m ok with the event being as short as it was, and I’m ok with how the rewards were priced. However, I’m not ok when the two are combined. The combination of these factors made the whole event feel very grindy, with very little reward to show for our efforts. My advice for the future would be choose one or the other. Either have a short event with reasonably attainable rewards, or a longer event with harder to earn rewards.

but other classes don’t give up a trait for it – they get it in their minor.

All the minor traits that apply to dodge either get a very small benefit or a rather long cooldown on it.

I mean their class mechanics.

Chronomancer’s Continuum Split
Dragonhunter’s New Virtues
Reaper’s Reaper Shroud
Tempest’s Overloads
Herald’s Facet of Nature
Berserker’s New Burst Skills

all of these are available to them through the first minor trait. compare this to an extra 50 endurance… it’s not exactly comparable…

(also, before you say an extra 50 endurance is a big thing, we used to get a trait which refilled 20 or 30 endurance on dodge roll – effectively giving us an extra 50 odd endurance. so we get an old trait, while other classes get stuff like Reaper Shroud or Continuum Split…)

Those classes are also stuck with those options that Anet decided for them. Thieves get to tailor their new ability to fit the given situation. That seems like a pretty big deal to me.

I’m not going to argue against the ascetics of the warhorn since that is so subjective. It sucks if you aren’t a fan of it from that point of view so hopefully the next elite specialization will be more to your liking.

What I would like to discuss, is the idea that another off hand is a bad choice because the dagger and focus are already good options and the current main hand weapons feel lackluster in comparison.

If their goal is to provide further build diversity with these Elite Specs (which I think it is) then they need to be very careful about which weapons they add and when they add them. Adding a new main hand weapon that clearly outshines the current choices would be counterproductive to their goals, because everyone would just be running that weapon all the time. By giving us another (hopefully good) option for off hand, that will actually create more interesting choices for us, as there shouldn’t be one weapon that is always superior.

Try greatsword + sword/torch or greatsword +scepter/torch.

Mace is actually a better option than 1h sword if you spec for Symbolic Avenger.

Its a close call but I’d have to say Snowden is my overall favorite map followed closely by Diessa. I love exploring the ruins of Owl’s Lodge and reading the lost writing there. In Diessa I love everything about Meatoberfest and of course the Cow Cannon

Proposal Functionality
Let us unlock the ability to create our own shard/zone for any of the activities within the game. Would hopefully work similar to how we can unlock Teq, and the Worms

I’m so happy this change is being made—the existence of Server Chapters has adversely affected my guild, which is cross-server, for a long time. I’m thrilled to hear these limitations will become a thing of the past. Thank you!

I have a couple of questions regarding how the creation of a unified Guild Chapter will be implemented.

  • Will existing Influence, Merits, Consumables, and Unlocks across all Worlds be merged into the new unified chapter?
  • How will Guild Banks from different Worlds be resolved and merged together? In order to avoid items/gold being destroyed, will guilds have to empty their guild banks in preparation for a merge?

Depending on the size of your guild, it can be a real pain to keep track of active members without that information.

Thanks for the thoughtful comments and honest criticisms regarding the story instance. We tried something new this time by putting a lot of character moments into a single area, but also by allowing folks to advance their LW progress while making the scenes available as optional story bits. We realize that for some players who haven’t met these characters before, there was a lot of “catching up” to do, but we hope you found it entertaining. The fact that many of you are speculating about where these characters are headed in the future makes me smile. Thanks for that.

You guys really knocked it out of the park this time! Keep up the good work.

I like the idea of Ranks being used as a long term goal for SPvP players. A big improvement in my opinion would be to smooth out the reward for rank curve.

Currently, you only get rewards for every 10 rank ups. Due to the nature of the ranking curve, this means the time between rewards grows exponentially. How about giving us a reward every two ranks? Not only would this lessen the dry spell between ranking up, but it would help differentiate between people in the same rank bracket.

For example, you could let us unlock different variation of finishers at different rank levels. Or perhaps break up the armor rewards between different rank levels.

As someone who has been farming silver doubloons in the JPs for about 6 months now(I am a little over a 100 now with four alts farming) , I would be extremely kitten ed if Anet suddenly decided to change the requirement to be Platinum doubloons.

I think just allowing us to upgrade copper doubloons will be the easiest and least jarring approach for them to take.

It is a build that WoodenPotatoes made, and it appeals to me because I’m currently bored with D/D (just got to 60 on my Ele) and was looking for a change. I’m also not crazy about the LH because my main is a hammer guardian and I was hoping for something different with my Ele.

Anyway, he claims that the combination of Fresh Air with Electric Discharge helps to offset the Scepter’s lack of sustained dps. Do you think that to be the case? If not, is there a viable way to use S/F in a dungeon without having to use LH?

Thanks for the tips, I have been working on leveling my ranger and am loving Beast Master. With the 15 sec pet swap I have been able to solo a couple of champs with ease.

I have mainly been using the cats but I will have to give the wolf another try. Using the Moa in WvW sounds pretty sweet too.

Suggestion: Ascended Gear/Slot Change.

Well if you bought the recipe from the trainer (I think that is how you get it) you won’t be able to make it in the discovery tab since you already know it. Check under jewels in the crafting tab
