Here goes my beef…
I don’t mind being dumbed/leveled down for lower level areas when I’m doing World Events and hearts etc.
What I do mind is being leveled down for my personal story. Here’s why I mind…
I died and was not able to complete my personal human street rat (teens level) story until I asked for help. I got the help and still 3 of us struggled (all three of us were leveled down). We did complete it though, but not w/o being in the fallen state several times.
I had leveled up because I though I would have better odds, but that was not the case.
Even if we level up and go back to our personal stories, it doesn’t matter. We will be leveled down.
So, I guess the lesson in all this is to somehow figure out what is the best way to play our characters ‘at level’ and use our ‘skill’ to win.
Even having to say that though, I want to know how this game is good for a noob? They haven’t developed their ‘skills’ in MMO playing yet.
dodging, rolling, etc. comes with practice and playing several games/MMO’s over time.

I’m happy to hear that dedicated and experienced players who have a trained and regular group are finding some challenge and fun in the dungeons.
BUT :
You all must remember that GW2 is supposed to be for every kind of players, not only very good raid specialists. Meaning that everykind of people should be able to get some fun in game.
While the challenging dungeons are great for some, i think that the other ones, the casual players, which represent in fact the major part of the population of a popular game such as GW2, should have access to some adapted content too.
Yes maybe we are dumb, slow, losers or whatever you think, but we are customers as much as you.
So concretly, keep the dungeons as they are for the ones who like it and can dedicate so much time and skill to it, but add an easier mode for casual players, with shorter sessions adapted to family life, with of course less reward etc…
WHY NOT GIVING SOME CONTENT TO EVERY KIND OF PLAYERS ? After all the dungeons are already here, it shouldn’t be that hard to add some easier modes, and yes some harder modes too if there are enough people enjoying it.

This is the kind of thinking that is practiced with kids playing sports in this day. You came out and participated and WHAM!!! we have a trophy for you at the end of the season for you!!!

Hogwash! As a child when i played sports if you didn’t play on a winning team. NO TROPHY FOR YOU! I played on some teams that were winners, and i played on some teams where we lost. Having done this i learned to win, and to lose.

What you must remember is you are entitled to absolutely jack nothing in this life. I for one am tired of hearing people that describe themselves as casual( mainly touted to be the MAJORITY…… so what, i say.) moaning about how it is unfair that they are unable to complete some form of challenge in a MMO game. In this game it is the dungeons, they are hard. And they very well should be.

It is this state of mind that has lead to the nerfing, and just plain dumbing down of the majority of all games of this kind that i have played. I’ve run into content in MMO’s i was not able to complete, that vary in reasons, and i either decided to fix whatever it was making me unable to complete the challenge or i moved on deciding it was not something i could get done.

Achieving goals that are out of reach for some, or most, is a MOTIVATOR for some people, such as myself. As my opinion is worth as much as yours (and be aware i am aware my opinion means nothing to 99.99% of everyone else out there) i say no, you cant have a free pass because your special, and need lovin because you find no enjoyment in running the dungeons in GW2.

I like the fact that this part of the content of this game is tough. My family life allows me to play these dungeons and complete them. I own a business, have 2 sons, 1 irrational female partner and a whole passel of house plants that want my attention every day, day in and day out.

So again, i for one think, if you want to do the dungeons, try harder, assemble a group that is willing to try harder with you and do what it takes to get it done.

Hopefully folks spending their time on these forums detailing how it is not fair there is no easy mode for you to play goes in one dev ear and out the other. As many in this thread have said, the lewts are dookie at any rate, and are not the motivation to get in there and get it done in the first place. Its called a challenge!!! Try challenging yourself, you might dig it.

Also, what i am saying here is not addressed to you personally, rather it is addressed to the frame of mind that wants this type of content( your post is just a very good example). Be assured they will give it to you at one point or another, because if you are the type that will vote with your wallet you can guarantee this company wants your cash and will remedy your woes!

The whole fact that this game just rolled out and already people want EASIER CONTENT PLEASE!!!!! compels me to come here and say to the Dev’s i think it should not be so. At the least not right off.

Badd is putting dollar bills in your pockets while you stand on your soap box! LOL

I didn’t realize this was the case with the friends list in game. I must admit it makes me a little nervous.
I’ve had bad experiences in other games with other players. Knowing someone could friend me and get my info w/o my permission doesn’t sit right.
I’m personally slow to friend people until I know I can trust them at least a little bit.
If what you say is true, it doesn’t matter how slow to friend I am. Anyone can friend me, watch my progress in game etc.
Why would they do that? Well, there’s trolls, player stalkers, gold sellers, and basically people that play the game to bother other people because that is what is fun to them.
This thread deserves several bumps.

Yes seriously Ian not powerful enough, I can only burst down 6 enemies 2 levels higher than me in 5 seconds with my double dagger fire build. It needs to be atleast 3 seconds… unacceptable!

Please consider that there are achievement rewards for learning all the weapon skills for warrior class. Two handed sword, Two handed hammer, Sword & Warhorn, Two Swords, Axe & Sword, Two Axes, Axe & Warhorn, Rifle, Bow.
Open your hero panel and go to skills then click weapons skills.
You will see how much you have filled in.
I play around with learning all of them.
Please Note don’t go into a storyline quest with a new weapon set you have not trained up to 5.
I tried that once on my Norn Eboni Daines and she died. Only being able to push the #1 key got me killed.
I switched back to what I had trained up and won the fight.

I’ve been the most successful when I make sure that I have both a melee and ranged weapon on me at all times.

I push the tild key to switch as needed during an engagement.

To OP – I read the wall of text and I agree with you.

In addition to that all of the items/bundles have been instanced in my experience for the most part, but there have been a few that were not.
It didn’t affect my game-play in a negative way though.

I love this game!

If you take the time to study the traits page in your Hero Window and how those traits compliment certain combinations of skills – you will see that the few skills given are all you need.
Go to the mists and play with the free pvp armor, weapons, and items (jewelry) vendors; combining that with trait options you can change as many times as you wish in the mists; and also combining with skill options that can be changed (played with) as many times as you like in the mists.
It’s like a puzzle, play with it until your toon is the fighter you want him/her to be.

Personally I prefer this new system. I don’t have to set up complicated macros. I can set my character up and go. I can even play my toon @ level 80 in the mists to get a feel for him/her right after creation. If I don’t like it, I can change it (for free!)

One of the aspects I really appreciate is the reward/achievement system.
There is reward for reviving a fallen player.
There are achievement bonuses for reviving fallen NPC’s and/or Players.
For the most part I have not been left for dead because of this.
When I played SW:TOR I was left for dead all the time even when some random player who came by could have revived me.
There was nothing in it for them to revive me. Now, in GW2 we don’t have to simply rely on people being ‘nice’ for nice sake. They will be rewarded for it.

Why not get a VOIP like Team Speak, Ventrilo, Raidcall, or Mumble?

LOL I’ve sent so many chat reports and in-game tickets about this very thing. It is very annoying. I’m tired of creating tickets about these people. They probably get banned, but then come back as a new person because it’s so profitable maybe?

It’s already there in your guild window. The small square to the left of the name of your guild members will have a dash through it if they are not representing.
When you hover over that square with your mouse it will say not representing if they are not. If they are, then there is no dash through the square and it says online/offline when you hover over the square.

Those are really nice. How do you make such epic sigs?

All of the following advice is assuming all bugs & glitches are fixed.
Press ‘G’ key to start a guild.

Choose your your guild name and the guild tag can be 3-4 letters long which will display next to your name as you play. This tag can be an acronym for the name of your guild or it can be any 3-4 letters that are creative and represent your guild the way you want it represented.

On my server I see some players with the guild tag [BEER] and I always smile when I see them. I don’t know if their tag is an acronym or not, but it’s definitely catchy.

Once you have started your guild pay attention to the green influence points in the top right corner of your guild window. Those are currency for your guild. You will use the influence points currency to purchase ‘guild upgrades’ in:

Politics
The Art of War
Economy
Architecture

For example: purchasing the upgrade to learn Politics level I enables you to purchase the Guild Emblem Template. At that point you can travel to the Guild Registrar to create and customize a guild emblem. There is one in Lion’s Arch @ the bank.
Next is Politics II so that you can purchase a guild armorer contract to put the emblem on armor etc.
Learning The Art of War gives you PVP boons in WvW.

Please note that each guild upgrade takes time to learn once purchased and will be placed in a queue for several hours even a couple days for some of them.
You can even purchase an upgrade to train more than one upgrade at a time simultaneously.

What is the best way to get influence points?
I have found that the best way to ‘earn’ them is to do the World Events.
If you have a group of 2-4 people already, go run some World Events and earn influence together. It’s a win win because you also earn Karma, XP, and game currency (copper, silver, gold).

I was eager to get all four upgrade categories up to level I quickly so I purchased GEM’s for $20 and turned them into gold to purchase influence points from a guild promoter.
That is another way to do it. I realize not all will agree with that method, but I am a little less patient.

You can edit the name of the ranks, add ranks using the ranks tab on the left and clicking edit in the top right.

In order to promote/demote someone in your guild ‘right-click’ their name and then left click the rank you want them to be.

If you are concerned about new recruits representing your guild before you have gotten to know them. There is an option to un-click the box under ranks where it says display guild emblem. This way they can earn the right to display it by earning the trust of their fellow guild members and leaders.
It helps to avoid having an unfriendly player represent your guild that could tarnish your guilds reputation.
