With regards to the weapons being 200g, I don’t know if that’s true or not but that’s what most people in these forums say, I have 0 intention of getting them so I don’t know if that’s true or not but anything more then 25-50g for a single weapon I would consider it to be outside the reach of someone who plays PvP, most classes need at the very minimum 4 weapons to do PvP so unless you’re buying gems > gold I really doubt most WvWvW players can afford it just doing world vs world.

Back piece: Can you even get this one without doing fractals?

You can make 40 laurels in a month if you factor in dailies but if like you suggest you only play 75% of the time and thus miss a week out of every month provided you finish the monthly in the remaining 21 days it will take you 6 months not a year.

Not only that but you can also use guild commendations to buy some of the stuff or WvW badges and reduce the 6 months by much more then that.

As for crafting the weapon you dont even need to spend 25g just gather the mats yourself instead of buying them. it will take longer of course but you dont have to spend any of your gold except to buy some of the materials that are only available from a vendor. shouldnt cost more then 5g but i might be wrong

Can you get guild commendations by doing WvWvW?

The badges don’t make much of a difference, it’s only 5 laurels on the amulet and 0 difference with the other items.

Also whether you gather the mats or craft them ,you are still “buying” them, you either buy them with time or you buy them with gold, either way you are buying them, I don’t know where people get this impression of “I gathered the mats so it was free”, time is your most precious commodity by far and that doesn’t just apply in guild wars, it applies to every thing in life.

Really doubt Abbadons will win as it seems most people in this thread are saying they will.

Even though Desolation seems to be pulling ahead, it’s quite clear Gandara are stronger then us, and AM is very weak at the moment. Also, it would be nice if Gandara and AM stopped ganging up on us all day everyday.

Yeah part of the reason why I haven’t updated my system in like 4 years is all other games I play including the likes of Skyrim, CoD, WoW, LoL, etc, I get a steady 60 FPS so I don’t see the point in upgrading it. Heck some areas in WoW if I turn VSync off I get something ridiculous like 500 FPS. Not really sure if GW2 is not very well optimized or whatever, but I would hope someone with a BE Phenom 955 overclocked at 3.8ghz and a GTX 460 can still play it…

I fixed the problem, it’s a steady 60 fps again. I know the system is not that great, I bought it 3 or 4 years ago, I do want to update the Mobo and cpu but money is tight.

Thanks for your help. If any one is interested it was a temperature problem, I lowered the voltage of the cpu a bit and it’s now stable and 60 fps again…

I don’t know if any one can help me but my FPS has dropped massively since the patch.

Before on “auto detect” settings I had a pretty stable 60 FPS when there was nothing going on and about 20-30 FPS in events.

I now have 10-20 FPS all the time, even when I’m standing in a ghost town level 15-25 area with no one around.

Lions Arch is unplayable.,

Any ideas?

GTX 460
120GB AGILITY OCZ SSD

No I just hit 80 last night and I was interested in WvWvW but heard some bad things about Desolation, just wondered if that was the general community opinion or if I just ran into some “whiners”.

Any idea where the WvW community moved on to?

I think they should introduce Scythes in the game and Thiefs should be able to dual wield them, they should have a skill called Death Reaper:

Stealth Attack
The Thief comes from the Shadows and instantly kills it’s target. Unblockable.

On a serious note,

I loved the magic elements of assassins in Guild Wars, A/E Aura of Displacement Shock assassin was one of my favourite builds, there were a lot of Deadly Arts builds which felt very “caster like” which was also really cool, if any one remembers it was based around a quick succession of skills like Deadly Toxin + Impale + a couple of attacks and the Thief even used a Staff for the extra energy pool. Both these builds saw some GvG play so it’s not a crazy idea.

Oh also, not to bring the big bad wolf into the picture but who doesn’t remember Double Mace Rogues from WoW ?

Before the train became a thing- this is exactly what everyone did.

Now on the other hand you have a massive train of 80’s running through a starter zone and heaven help a new player who disrupts the train because
1 they don’t know it exists
2 they are just leveling
3 don’t know how the champs can be set off.
4 learn really quickly all GW2 is about is killing champs all day in rotation and that the people are really rude to new players.

So pure courtesy would be not to ruin a starter zone for low levels and to take your train to Frostgorge Sound

Team work and co-operation has nothing to do with it- easy lootz has.
I am 42 and this is completely toxic to the game.

I highly doubt a level 5 new Elementalist to the game can solo a champion like Troll/Spider, I mean perhaps they are mechanically gifted but I know I’d probably get 1 shotted if I was just starting the game and the troll champ came at me.

Well I was asking questions in LA and ppl said either Valkyrie + berserk trinks/weapons or All berserkers.

Because I want to do WvWvW and I’m new to dungeons I thought going with Valkyrie would be best to have at least 15-16k hp, all berserkers in PvE seems very risky and in dungeons I don’t want to get 1 shotted while learning the content. But now people here are telling me to go Soliders not valkyries, it’s just confusing

I’ll take 3 Soldier Pieces + all berserkers into WvWvW and in PvE but once I’m more comfortable in Dungeons I can buy the chest/helm/legs berserker slots but still use the soldiers in wvwvw ?

I understand that but what is the advantage of WvW specific armor and I looked at the Invader Weapons and the skins don’t look like anything special… don’t those blueprints go for coppers in the TP?

By the way on the subject of WvWvW, I have loads of badges from levelling there, what else can I buy besides armor, weapons and ascended stuff? Surely die hard WvWvW players must have thousands of badges and they dont need new gear any more, what do they spend it on ?

So what you’re basically saying is if I’m going to focus 100% on Dungeons/PvE then I should just go with Zerkers/Valkyrie but if I want to do some WvWvW on the side or some crazy Dynamic events then it’s worth getting some Toughness in addition to the Power and Vitality from Soldiers ?

Soldier is better? So Toughness > % Crit damage?

Is the only way to get this by crafting?

I was talking to people in game and they all recommended that I use Valkyrie Armor with Berserker Weapons and Accessories but I can’t find any besides the crafted one.

Do I just buy it and then use transmute stones for the looks that I want?

While I’m here, do you find this advice to be correct? I just got to level 80 last night and I’m interested in learning how to farm Dungeons and maybe doing some WvWvW if I’m bored.

25 conditions on a boss from a group of like 50 people? That’s ridiculous, that’s barely enough for 1 person let alone 50+ ….

Why do they only stack up to 25 on Bosses ?

And is it 25 for the whole group or 25 per person?

I’m level 78 at the moment and I don’t have a clue what I should be doing at level 80…

What kind of armor should I buy and what are things that level 80s do?

I was thinking about using a D/D + Shortbow Condition damage build, is that good ?

Also… I don’t really understand what traits I should be using, I’ve read a lot of guides on here and guildwarsguru but none of them are very specific, and people seem to just follow 1 or 2 builds and stick to that, at the moment I’m reading a lot of people are using D/P but I don’t want to use pistols.

Can any one offer some advice?

I’m thinking of slowly upgrading it because during events I get really really bad FPS lag, it’s not unplayable but it’s not smooth at all. I’m wondering, what does GW2 benefit more from, is it a strong CPU+RAM or a good GPU? I’m guessing it’s CPU+RAM but wanted to make sure.

What would you recommend? I think my CPU is currently at 3.2ghz, would overclocking it to 3.6ghz make much of a difference?

Sigil of Fire Greatsword sounds like something I can have a look at . I still prefer Sword/Sword or Sword/Pistol but I got used to Focus #4 and now can’t live without it.

I’m really hoping you can help me, I have started playing Guild Wars a year ago and I still don’t have a level 80 believe it or not but I think I finally found a profession I love, my highest level characters are my Level 60 and 66 Ranger and Thief and now my level 65 Mesmer, the reason I rerolled from Ranger is because I love doing Dynamic events but didn’t think he was very fun, same with the Thief where you just spam with your Shortbow, so I made a Mesmer and fell in love with it’s combat system and skills.

The only problem is I really struggle tagging mobs! By the time I do anything they are pretty much dead, and it’s not that I’m slow, I PvP quite a lot both in this game and League of Legends so my reaction times are actually pretty fast, I know this is a damage issue because my girlfriend is levelling a Guardian and her guardian is 10 levels lower then my mesmer and she literally 2 shots mobs that I have to use both my weapon sets to kill.

I have tried Staff and found it too slow, Greatsword is faster but doesn’t do enough damage either, I found Sword to be the best damage weapon but it’s melee so in events it’s not as optimal in my opinion.

Can someone please recommend me a build/weapon sets that really specialise in Dynamic Events as that’s what I love to do?

Also does any one know any good WvW and Dungeon guides a nearly level 80 Mesmer should read?

Can someone explain to me what best salvage kits are and for what?

For example:

Should I salvage blues/whites? What kid do I use for blues and whites?

What kit do I use for yellows?

What do I do with greens? Some people say put them in the mystic forge but I haven’t had much luck that way, or does that only apply to high levels ? I am only level 27

A mini guide would be really appreciated.

Please can someone help me, I bought myself this game and I bought my girlfriend a copy but we find this game is almost unplayable, we suffer from a lot of lag and delayed actions and we don’t understand why. We also play WoW and League of Legends and it’s absolutely fine there, 30-40ms in both games.

We live in the UK and our ISP is Sky, does any one know what could be causing this?
