Human meat obviously.
Well they can’t eat humans anymore because of the treaty.
But soon they’ll run out of seperatists…
Perhaps this is not a topic entirely fit for lore, but see it as the sequal to the ‘6th playable race’ topic. Try to describe the professions well.
1. Battle-bard: Light armored. Able to use instruments and entertainment-based skills. Gives decent boons to the troops and summons mystic forces trough songs to attack their foes. They are able to make ‘bridges’ with the profession mechanics buttons. These bridges are used between skills: when a skill is followed by a bridge and another skill, the combination will change the effects of the last skill. That way your skills will get stronger when you form combinations and melodies. Also able to use off-hand weapons in the main hand (like the warhorn.)
2. Shaman: Light armored. Uses the forces of nature to strike their foes. Conditions and boons caused by skills depend on the types of enviromental energy present. The Profession mechanics show the kinds of enviromental energy nearby. Also able to comune with spirits and alter his body to gain the powers of the spirits.
3. Samoerai: Heavy armor. Expert in every weapon with sharp edges (including bows). Doesn’t swing his sword at anything that moves like the warrior or the guardian, he mostly singles out one enemy. He waits for a foe to strike: if he blocks at the right moment, he responds with a devastating counter based on the type of attack the enemy trew at him. When he counters one foe that’s in a group, he’s able to do a quick chain-attack striking lot’s of foes individually.

I think the main reason is because trahearne replaces your compagnion from the order you’ve chosen. I did get a bit attached to Tybalt from the order of whispers. When those compagnions die, you get trahearne, even when the wound is still fresh. But we cold-hearted gamers aren’t supposed to care about the loss of a virtual character, we’re to cool for that, so we cover it up by saying bad things about trahearne, that kitten leafy know-it-all who intends to save the world from an undeath dragon…
Been on my mind for some time now, how about a bard-class in future updates? Instruments like weaponsets, boons to support the troops, summoning magical forces and muses to aid in battle… I know it doesn’t sound like a class made for battle, but give it some thinking.
I’m lvling a norn engineer with grenade kit as main weapon. I like the double damage and AoE, but not sure if a build like this could work. So that’s where you come in.
I think grandmaster explosives is obvious to get the grenadier trait, but don’t know what else could work. Grenades can inflict a lot of conditions, so firearms perhaps?
I’m also using mines for utility, because they’re awesome and easy to knock your foes of their feet when aproaching.
I’m currently using healing turret and rocket turret, although I’m not sure if I’ll keep them. Don’t have an elite skill yet, but it will most likely be the supply drop, since the other elites are fairly useless and the norn-elites don’t fit in with the class.
I’m mostly walking around with the grenade kit, but keeping dual pistols for secondary.
Help me out, tips and insights go here!
I’d say Tyria exists within a part of the mists, or a universe equal to the mists. If the rotation of the moon and sun don’t follow the same mechanics as those of a round planet, a discworld would be possible. The old christian version of the discworld was surrounded by water and had a dome around it to keep the water from falling on their heads. Since we know the mists are there, I’d assume we aren’t surrounded by water but mist, hence the strange physics.
I’m a bit confused about the Maguuma jungle. I know it’s mainly the western part of the world where the Asura and Sylvari live, but it seems like Mount Maelstrom is also part of it? I haven’t been to sparkfly fen much, but it’s also considered part of the jungle. Yet there is an sea between these regions… Southsun cove isn’t part of it, yet it’s right in between. Was Orr a part of the jungle before it sank? How does this thing work?
Rouven, thanks to you my mesmer has been restored to his former glory. You have my eternal gratitude.
The Norn may have muscle but lack tactics, technology, strenght in numbers…
Thanks guys. I’d say the heritage mask would be suited, too bad I can’t obtain it…
The high-lvl acolyte mask is awesome, but a bit un-jester-like. I could settle for it though
One of the many things I love about mesmers are the typical masks. Foolish as I was, I discarded my starter gear, thinking I would find other cool masks, not being aware of the existance of transmutation stones (it was my first character.) Now I’m looking for other suitable masks.
My character’s name is Leonard the Jester, so I’d like to give him a jester-like apearance (the harlequins smile was ideal for this…) Currently wearing the low-lvl acolyte mask, the round one.
Any tips and insights welcome.
What do you guys think is the best civilization/race, based on culture and economy rather than skills and questlines?
I think the Asura are the current winners, but will be triumphed by the sylvari at some point.
The Asura’s civilization is peacefull and based on understanding their surroundings and improving their lives. Their technology exceeds all other races and every decent race uses their technology at some point. Their religion can explain everything without using the existance of gods. They are present in the world economy trough the Asura gates. Best of all, they intend to grow their civilization alongside nature, without harming it (like we should do on earth.) The only setback is the corruption in their government by the inquest, but this does benefit their general knowledge.
Sylvari are potent to become the master race in Tyria. They’ve only been around for 25, yet they have a capitol and are present all over the world. The dream is a better alternative to our genes, instead of giving characteristics to future generations, the dream provides the entire knowledge the race has gathered and also gives them direction and purpose in life. Imagine what greatness they would achieve in another 25 years. The only problem is that we don’t know yet how the nightmare court and the 6th dragon are linked.
The Charr have a great industrial economy, but their entire civilization is based on war. Our history has shown us cultures like that tend to collapse rather fast…
Humans fail on all fronts, they’ve lost every recent battle they had and even their own religion has abandoned them.
Norns are awesome, but they are just a bunch of drunk vikings.
We know to little about the Tengu and the Largo’s, although they might become the new playable races in the future.
Skritt are dumb, Grawl are still cavemen, Jotun have become cavemen once more, Hyleck are primitive, Quagan are only refugees… Anything else?
(Dragons and Godlike-creatures don’t count.)
My favorite: “More knowledge for me!”
When discovering land, it has a nice maniacal touch.
To change things up a little, I’ve recently started using a warhorn with my sylvari warrior. And boy, does that thing sound lame.
I do hope ArenaNet will change it in the future. How about something that realy sounds like a horn when you blow it, instead of a conch shell. It would be even better if nearby players could hear the sound echo. (For example: like how the the horn of Gondor echo’s trough the woods when Boromir makes his last stand in LOTR, or how the hornblowers drive Theon Greyjoy to madness in game of thrones.)
A warhorn isn’t just a magical tool to amplify your skills, it’s supposed to be heard from miles away, show courage to your allies and strike fear into the hearts of your foes. Large battles would be way more epic with real, strong warhorn sounds.
Who’s with me?
