the problem is daredevil the new elite spec is all about Not stealthing…. but due to theifs being so underwhelming damage and defensive wise out of stealth its doing very very very poorly in pvp.
How is everybody feeling about it? at the moment im enjoying the spec but compared to other specs is really lacks purpose in a group. Aswel as that i think for sush a high mobility squishy spec with no stealth the damage is just next to nothing compared to other classes/specs. What you guys think? Also the AOE from volt/5 could be a bit bigger.

Man the amount of effort the devs put in for you guys and you just stomp it in the drain with posting 1/10 reviews to force there hand….. They are most likely discussing it….. i actually cant believe how toxic these posters are….
Theif needs some condition protection or something… was playing mine 2day and a gard and only one gard hit me with 10 burning stacks ….. like wtf just one shot me. If anything its all together just too squishy and with the new daredevil (none steath) spec they are just a bit toooo squish even with 3 dodges.
Damage output from shortbow……
Neither…. I dont think either of them fit as a melee wep. No idea why they released another caster staff when they just implemented 2 melee staff users.
Dam i wish they made a staff for melee>< I mean its okay but it just doesn’t feel like a melee staff. Much disappoint
If only…… When i go from playing my theif and jump on a nerco or my ranger the damage the kill power its insaine….. even considering theif is spose to be a good 1v1 class.
I dont want to reroll…. please make us viable compared to other specs.
Making the new Legendarys requires PvP, now I know I don’t need to even bother with it.
Isnt guild wars focused around pvp? I have no idea why people hate fighting players and prefer fighting computer AI… Will always blow my mind
really expected a melee staff but it looks like its just another caster staff. I’m gonna play a rev and a daredevil with staff so much disappoint
I hate deathmatch far more…… when it comes to unranked its very really i get into a game where its a close match its easy you win or you get completely stomped. My only hate with skyhammer is how buggy and poorly designed the jump pads are.
Seems to me whilst playing the beta majority of daredevils i talked to really disliked or felt that dust strike (4) was underwhelming/lacking something.
If we cant replace it with something more useful could we get perhaps if you use it in melee range something else happens aswel as blind like stack of bleeds or a daze or something even if used at range slows for a couple of seconds etc.
Daredevil and staff are awesome and the devs did a great job developing it, but dusk strikes performance does seem to be a bit off.
Good changes. kinda wishing that they removed number 4 ability and replaced it with anything else though.
I dont care much for mounts. Getting flying in wow didnt change my experience and getting a mount just let me explore faster. But as for guild wars (everything end game is instanted/teleport here and there) i dont really see the need for mounts other than perhaps wvwvw PVP.
I also come from 9 years of playing wow. Just stopped playing a couple of months ago after getting no content/balance etc. I love this new style of MMO combat i am realllly enjoying it and i love the interaction with the devs and the community as you just dont get that with blizzard and its devs.
WoW is good when it comes to ranked and organised PVP and rewards as GW2 doesnt have any ranked or organised pvp (separate queues,) I mean you can queue as a premade on ranked but there are no new rewards. Also i like arenas (premade 2v2,3v3 etc).
Lastly the one thing i really liked about wow is the server locations. Texas is really outa the way and atm im sitting on 200 ping (im in oceanic) usually get 140 on west coast server.
But guild wars is just a new fresh game with plenty of opportunities a great community a great dev team and i have high hopes for Anet and its future implements whether its guild wars or another MMO.
They just feel like they take too much damage compared to other classes. I know they are suppose to dodge etc but even leveling it just feels like im 1/4 a class,.
Petless ranger spec. I love using bows but i hate dealing with AI and having my characters power split like that. So atm im playing a warrior.
Elemental enhance spec so like melee elemental, using fist weps or something.
Scrapper is my least favorite elite specialization if compared to others. The abilities are Okay but the way the spec has been designed i dont see it working out great compared to other specs in PVP. With the main 5 abilities on the hammer i kind of agree with everybody else just damage is low, auto attacks are boring, 3 is not accurate etc. Gyros are underwhelming and other abilities even if the gyros are buffed will be better. I also dislike the traits as the only real thing you can bring over to other specs is the adaptive armor. Other than that its a huge letdown in comparison to the other elite specializations.

As somebody in oceanic with 250 ping…… im realllllly excited and happy about this. The devs at arenaNet are the best.
Im in oceanic sitting with 250 ping, the only reason why im going back to wow when the legion expac comes out. Guild wars is great but the lag is just too much of a big deal considering the server is in dallas no east/west coast servers, plus the way abilities are in this game (no global cd, which is good but means Lag is a bigger factor). I share your pain friend
Inspect…. being able to see a players gear
Not sure if that counts as a option though…
I like this game heaps, but i think after legion comes out ill go back. Only due to the fact PVP is too limiting with 200-250 ms (playing in new zealand)
Just a question for Anet or anyone who has found any peices on Information on it….
Do we have any upcoming or possible changes to address Network and connectivity for people playing in countries outside of america ( server for guild wars located in dallas). For the upcoming expansions or even the expansions after the next.
Cheers
Hey community just giving a short feedback of my personal experience .
Background – 8 years xp of Wow and aion.
I originally made a “good list” but it just went on too long. This game is just fantastic, its the new generation of MMO, with graphics, leveling choices, story decisions, great puzzles, epic world bosses and these insane graphics. Plus i was super surprised at how having 40+ people in one area spamming abilities wouldn’t crash the server! when i played wow if we got 40 people pvping in one area the server would lag out and any more than that it would actually crash the server. The main thing is the community, i haven’t played a game with a community this great in a while, and on top of that the devs actually communicate with the player base with ideas, changes and problems. (you will never ever ever see that on wow) after being apart of the wow community for so long i thought most devs avoided communicating with the community.
At the moment i cant see any really bad aspects (at my stage of playing), but here are just some little things that caught my eye:
This game is just awesome and i wish 3 years ago i purchased this instead of world of Warcraft Mist of Pandaria. The only thing back then the lack of a free trail which i think for a game like this was sort of needed due to there being only a couple server homes(Dallas,Germany) and the graphic quality. It was a bit too risky to buy a game encase it didnt run on my machine or if it lagged too much(oceanic player). Perhaps in the future of anets game even having just a test client for ping/graphics for players to test there machines/lag on. As i know plenty of people that just didnt risk paying it upfront due to not wanting to risk it.
Just a comment on the lag, coming from world of warcraft with global cool downs before they implemented oceanic servers playing on 180 ms on west coast servers didn’t cause too much problems due to the way abilities worked. However in guild wars there is no global cds or any big implementations to help with lag ( i dont think global cds would fit into a game like this, it would ruin the idea) but due to the fact i play in the oceanic region connecting to a dallas server sitting on 200-250 ping, pvp can be very very very difficult to even land abilities and makes some classes like theifs near impossible to play well.
Also the difficulty on the first couple of world bosses (as i haven’t fought later world bosses yet). The shadow like boss was epic but the difficulty was a bit on the easier side. This was to the point where most players just tagged it and AFK’d in front of the boss. There was no dodging or watching for mechanics like dungeon bosses the only thing i found that can really get you in trouble is if you agro one of the elite adds and you don’t kite it and stand there.
Lastly i think some incentives for ranked PVP or adding in some new rewards to push the growth of competitiveness in ranked PVP would do wonders. I was really surprised when i did ranked PVP that i gained no extra rewards than the normal pvp queue…
This game is one of the best MMOs i have ever played…. i even think this is better than wow. This is coming from a wow player of 8 years….. The only thing is i will prob play wow legion when the patch is released because im a oceanic player and 220 ping is just too restricting in pvp and on wow on there oceanic servers i get 30 ping. Other than the lag this is my fav MMO atm.
I’d hate to break it to you, but no Aus/Oceanic server I’ve ever seen every stayed populated for more then half a year. Aus doesn’t have enough density of players in any single game (except for maybe WoW) to sustain a server dedicated directly to them. And a Pac Rim server suffers from the same language problems as EU/Asian that potentially compartmentalize them, instead of promoting group interaction.
While I agree that the mega server should open across regions, the reason for the barrier is ping. So unless they lift the region restriction for PVE/PVP, an oceanic region would only compound the existing problems you’re seeing with Coverage.
What kind of changes did you play and how old where they?
I have played on Wow oceanic and League of legends Oceanic both big games and the community is massive….. I wouldn’t underestimate the potential of guild wars now that its free to play. The only games that have had failed oceanic servers is when the game has failed and is actually dieing …. Aion etc…
But then again the people arguing against this dont have 250ping. Having to connect all the way to the middle of the USA even on a good internet on my country is a pain.
Ummm oceanic wouldnt just be for australia…. i have 11 friends myself that play in new zealand just one group of them, then all of asia that are around the oceanic line. Plenty of people i tell you!
So without talking about the strength of abilities(balance changes inc).
The revenant is good fun. I find the shield/mace combo has some great abilities and is fun to use. Having another melee staff spec feels great and as a supporting role its looking good. Two handed hammer is a little bit weird, the auto attack feels a bit underwhelming abilities bit too slow for my taste. Other than that the animations are looking sweet! (greatsword??? )
The only thing that is a bit off-putting is the loud growning when swapping to dwarf stance. I can see some of the stance voice overs getting annoying after a while.

Has there been any news on a new reward system for ranked PVP?
Or will it be the same and have no rewards for rank etc.
Thanks!
Thanks for your help, hate this ping.
Right now here in New Zealand our government is laying down fiber everywhere, I have it in my area and do have it myself. That being said it’s not the quality as others have mentioned it’s the distance.
Every Halloween playing that minigame they bring back I always see it, it’s very bad. You hit a skill and if you are the same hp as your oppnt and both fire a skill off at the same time, who do you think is going to walk away the winner? As an engi main I see rubber banding a lot too with enemy npcs if I use the flamethrower skill 3 (knockback) and then try the skill 2 (an explosion) the enemies suddenly appear right in my face and as such my shot fires past them and the explosion totally misses.
It’s the same playing COD on xbox or any other FPS. Actually it’s funny when we hear Americans crying on xbox about hit markers. Because for us EVERY hit is a hit marker. If we do manage to get lucky and get into a hosted Aussie or NZ game when we don’t get hit markers it seems weird and we think there is a glitch or something somewhere lol.
As for if we need servers here or there I’m not too worried myself as I will stay on my server regardless. When I used to play Runescape people asked them for Aussie servers for a while too until they decided to test them. I was actually testing them myself for the makers of that game and they took a lot of our feedback seriously. But the first phase of testing did not go so well as the Aussie hosts were just bad at the time. It wasn’t until 1-2 years later they finally got them up and running at a decent quality. I believe they have maybe 5+ Aussie/NZ servers now. Funny enough however I always found I had the best ping from the UK servers over American, and even in some cases the Aussie/NZ. Not sure why as they are totally the other side of the world, maybe it was just the quality of the hosts.
Do you PVP? because in wow going from 180-200 ping to now 30 ping was game changing…. And wow had global cds and lots of code in place to counter lag…. where guild wars does not.
Yall are constantly hitting the gaming community up for servers. Start building better telcom cables. Hawaii did.
Australia and New Zealand….. regardless of cables are pretty far away from dallas…. just sayin
That would be awesome…… there are so much oceanic players atm. Not just auzzy but NZ and all the asia/oceanic areas……..
Hey crew! I am a big pvper and i just brought the game to try it out(not knowing there was only US and EU servers). However im having big issues with ping. I live in new zealand and get 200+ping and find it very difficult to play a elementalist for reasons i’m sure you will understand. (long delay on casts, hitting AOE, using abilities at a good pace (no global cd)).
Can anybody that is like me sitting with 200 or so ping recommend a class that isnt as dependent?
thanks!
Thanks for your help mercury! I have actually just brought it, however if the servers are on a bad side and i get to 250-400 ping i can take advantage of the refund 30 day policy. I’m sure it will be alright i’m just crossing my fingers.
Hello guild wars crew!
I come from World of Warcraft in search of pvp content. I’m based in new Zealand so usually with 30 ping on oceanic and 140 to west Servers back in the day (on wow). What kind of ping can i expect or will it limit my performance in ranked/(what ever competitive pvp is in this game). I didn’t originally buy it due to there being no oceanic or west servers so i am interested if anything has changed during the last couple of years.
Thanks!
