{SN} Sentimental Nightmares
Darsveth, Warrior – Dexter Oliver, Thief
I’d like to see something like this. I’d take it a step further and allow selecting major traits and skills as well: a loadout selection.
I wouldn’t mind seeing a trampy thief once in a while lol.
Options are good. Reality is a drag.
Excellent idea!
I ran across a guildie in a lowbie zone last week, and we just ran around destroying mobs. It was fun, and I wonder if I’ve missed out on other times like this because a guildie wasn’t in my field of view.
When I loot a Black Lion Chest I feel happy for a few seconds. Then I remember that I’ve never gotten anything cool out of one and how hard it is to find keys and I try to forget about it.
A nice solution would be better loot and finding more keys in the world, but maybe it’s too late at this point. If loot suddenly improved, people who’d opened chests last week might feel cheated. If keys suddenly started dropping, people who bought keys with gems last week might feel cheated.
If they want to solve the problem of the worthless BLC, I think they might have to add a new chest to loot and new keys to open them.
I came to this game knowing nothing of the previous lore, and while I’m no lorehound, I try to pay attention as I go. The existence of deep lore enhances the gameplay and story-telling.
I honestly did not know that Divinity’s Reach was supposed to be multi-cultural. I wandered around, impressed by the size of the place, but I would not have known about different races in different quarters had I not read this forum post.
During character creation, it would be cool if after you selected human, you could then select a race of human. Maybe this already exists. I don’t know because my character is Norn. I actually chose him because I wanted a warrior and I knew nothing of the lore to base a human selection appearance.
Maybe Ascalonians have infiltrated and dominated DR somehow?
I do think that NPCs and characters that have differing appearances makes things more interesting. I also wonder if NPC appearances might be based off of the majority of PCs created on a specific world, since specific NPCs apparently look different depending on the world you’re on.
I’ve been staying away from WvW until I get more expendable cash. I find WvW too expensive at level 40ish.
Does anybody else feel this way? Does it get better at higher levels?
yeah, I suspect it has something to do with an event later this month. I’m kinda glad, since I play rather recklessly
I think it would be cool and useful to have a button with a dropdown list to select a saved loadout. A player would equip weapons, select utility skills and activate preferred major traits then save the setup as a loadout. Then you could change certain items in that set and save it as a different loadout.
I think this is different than saved specs because you wouldn’t respec traitlines with points. The only thing changing in the traits is which majors you have selected. Then depending on the situation or group makeup, you’d select which loadout you want to use.
I currently find it very time consuming to select individual items for loadouts.
I’d like to be able to set a nickname for players in the guild panel, both from the main page and the Roster page.
I think this is an excellent function in the Friends List.
I’d like to see a separate button used to pick up banners. Very many times I’ve accidentally picked up a banner spamming F to loot.
I’m not “sad” that players do this. That’s just how they want to play it. This game is good for me because I’m a plodder. I like to get 100% map completion & check everything out — if it’s cool, I stick around, if not I move on. I find myself sticking around a lot in this game. I outlevel areas in other games, which is why I like the downleveling in this one. No monthly fee is good too, as I don’t feel like I need to play excessively to get my money’s worth, and it doesn’t feel grindy to me.
My only concern about others rushing to 80 is that I’m afraid a sizable portion of the population will evaporate. Maybe they’ll add some level 80-only content for the people who want to play it like that; maybe a dungeon that takes advantage of the karma sink or something.
It made me sad that the youtube video was prefaced by an ad for WoW MoP
To me, the human dance is the best one. Asura was ok, but the movements all seemed too small or something, which maybe makes sense, but it would have been nice to see something bigger.
I don’t like the others much. Not a huge deal, since they’re just fun additions, but still.
Lichy’s idea of buying dances with gems is awesome — I would buy one if I liked it — heck I would probably buy the human dance for my poor, sad Norn.
I’m glad to see confirmation of the Bear Form weakness; I thought it might have been my imagination.
If the form must be weaker than our standard character, it would be nice to get something else to compensate us, like removing conditions, boost health regen — something else to encourage its use. Otherwise, it’s just a throwaway vanity skill.
I appreciate the rules against swearing. Occasional use is fine, but it’s just annoying when it clutters the chat — even with the filter on. I kinda wish they would substitute “kitten” instead of the dashes because I think that’s funnier and it usually disarms the rest of the comment.

Give banner owners a new skill when someone else grabs our banner: Detonate! and let it blow up the banner, the carrier, and any enemies around it.
I’m using FF 15.0.1 and it appears to be working correctly for me. This is a new install, and I don’t think I have any addons installed with it.
I’ve been seeing this sort of behavior on occasion. Today, Game Bugs is in German.
I’m wondering if maybe the down-leveling is taking us too far down. Through this thread so far, it looks like some have tried PS instances early or at-level, but I think most have had trouble after being down-levelled. I’m going to try to catch my PS up to my level to see if that might help.
Yes, I’m a warrior who still runs into trouble in the PS occasionally.
I had a very frustrating time with Sabotage as a warrior. I’m sure that some of it is my lack of skill, but I died sooo many times before finally completing it. I think maybe the personal story instances are a little too finely tuned.
Sabotage was so frustrating! I’m also a Norn warrior. My main weapon is usually 2H hammer, my off-spec is either a rifle or axe/mace combo.
I got downleveled to 26, then they send wave after wave of level 26 mobs at you, four at a time. The NPC companion that accompanies you helps, but once you die, she can’t stay alive by herself. I rezzed at a checkpoint and went in using axe / shield, but that only made me survive a little while longer — I was able to take out ONE of the mobs by focusing fire on him, then rez at the checkpoint again — do the same thing, killed another while in a downed state that made me pop up again: burned all my cooldowns and took another one out.
I think it would help if the mobs were not the same level as you. I think this one is too finely tuned.
I report & block them all. I really appreciate that you can do this from the right-click menu in chat, and the new report “!” in mail.
I was wondering how some of these people had hundreds of achievement points, but when zannX pointed out that they’re using hacked accounts it made more sense.
54! See, even this old fart can keep up with the “fast paced” gaming!
I know, its just not the same as it used to be, back in the day video gamers had to walk back and forth to levels uphill both ways in 3 feet deep snow- and they liked it!
lol – I’m an old fart too (50) and I can tell you, my first “video games” didn’t even have levels; just a couple of white paddles and a square ball on a black background after you plugged the console into the back of your 40-pound television.
. . . and we _liked_it!
I appreciate that the OP took the time to explain why he didn’t like the game. There’s nothing wrong with that, and I like reading opinions from different viewpoints. Bashing him for it is just a waste of resources.
I think the Dynamic Events tell a bit of story, but I don’t know if this is the depth some people crave. There is lore in the game. It’s not my thing, but I think some people are into it.
I think maybe tactical play might be what’s lacking for some people. WvW has been a bit of zergfest, but I think strategy is starting to emerge. Maybe if the OP hasn’t left yet, he could try different objectives in that mode of play. I’m looking forward to the longer reset-times for WvW, as I find the daily resets a little anti-climactic.
thread +1
I haven’t tried a dungeon yet, but I’ve been reading what I can find on these forums. I’m not looking for a walk-through, but the advice gleaned from various viewpoints is nice.
I really like not needing the trinity. I didn’t find the requirement fun at all and eventually stopped running dungeons in WoW.
I would like a few buttons for different specs: not even for traits, but for loading different skills. There are so many skills that I find it time-consuming to select them.
If we can’t “stay logged in,” could we maybe get an option to save our password? I’ve read that saving your password is more secure than entering it every time — don’t know how accurate that is, but it’s certainly more convenient.
On the plus side, now I have my password memorized
I like the system as is. I haven’t noticed that I’m OP once I’m down-leveled with the exception that I think my crits hit much harder.
Maybe the prevalence of butter is one of those in-game hints at some future, massive event.
My suggestions:
more cowbell
Awesome game! Here’s some things I love about it:
There’s more, but the list is composed of what I consider revelations. Keep up the good work, and thank you for making a game that’s fun to play!
Interesting how some would prefer some sort of regulation to “stabilize” market prices. Financially, a thing is only worth what someone else is willing to pay for it. I don’t think that regulation would benefit more than a small percentage of sellers, and would artificially inflate prices.
Crafters may not be making a large profit, but they are gaining levels while crafting, enabling them access to rarer recipes. These recipes can be used for items in shorter supply, so can support a larger profit margin.
I like that the market is world-wide. It keeps the servers all on the same footing and helps prevent gouging.
Once you get past a certain level (don’t remember the number), you gain a Trait Point each level. From your Hero Panel (“H” by default), you select the Skills & Traits tab (2nd one down, on the left) and buy skills & traits.
Skills are additional abilities that go into your 6, 7, 8, 9 slots. 6 is always for heals. Once you purchase the skills, you can select which one is active with a drop-down (actually “up”) menu from the main interface.
Traits are a little bit trickier. Before you can assign any trait points, you have to visit a trainer for your profession (Guardian) and purchase an Adept book. Once you activate this book, you add trait points with the + button beside the desired trait line on the Hero Panel.
Each trait line enables certain perks once you put 5, 10, 15 etc. points into it. You can hover over the perks to see what they are, but the 10-pointers are selectable — you get to pick specifically which perk you want from a list.

Thanks Asum!
I’ll be glad when the wiki has more info on it
I’m considering buying another bank tab, but I’d like to know exactly what I’m going to get before doing so. When I purchase another bank tab with gems, is it just a tab that I have to add a bag to or is it another 30 slots of banking space?
They are all inspecting your gear and silently judging you
I lolled
I saw an ANet member in Hoelbrak a few days ago. I watched him for a few minutes, expecting I-don’t-know-what, but when he didn’t do anything cool I went about my business.
Can you imagine trying to relax and play for a while with that tag? I’d probably just open a window for guild chat and ignore the rest. Though, if I was an employee, I’d like the ability to occasionally show up as a god-like character and grant boons or something.
I love the revive ability of this game: one of GW2’s many fun innovations. I try to say thanks when I’m revved, but in combat it’s sometimes difficult to get it typed out — I revive every chance I see.
I’ve really enjoyed my warrior. I always hesitated rolling a warrior in other games because I hate to tank. This game allows me to bash things & not worry about the tanking responsibilities. I have not tried the guardian (yet).
I’m with ChiefWilliams on the hammer. Love the hammer skills, but I don’t really like the Greatsword skills of the warrior. This is probably just a personal preference.
