Good to know!!!
I have an active WoW subscription, I cancelled my EQ2 subscription due to money issues.
I am going to get back into GW2… I only have a low level character.
I’m hoping that there will be others in starting areas?
Although I bought the game at launch I really didn’t start playing yet.
Also, I’m playing on OS X (Mac).
Behellagh, yes. I have been around for a while, yet I have always wondered this. Despite my being around, I haven’t invested much time into GW2 yet, although I think I should.
JustTrogdor, that is what I was curious about… the gems and such.
It’s interesting about the first two years of updates. I do remember some of those.
I just think it’s amazing that they can offer am MMO of this quality, 100% free to play, and continue to provide us with updates. For some reason I just get a bit skeptical with the “free updates” without paying a monthly fee. Just made me wonder how they can afford to do such.
I was curious how GW2 compared to subscription MMO’s, such as World of Warcraft, EverQuest, EverQuest 2, and so on.
I’m used to paying a subscription fee for new content updates, so all of this free to play online after purchasing the game stuff makes me curious if there are actually frequent updates that are of a positive influence, being that they add more to do?
How does GW2 afford to stay online like this if its free to play?
Makes perfect sense… Thanks for the input.
Either / or.
I guess what I’m wanting to know is when I can purchase the expansion, if I’m able to purchase it before it goes online.
Hi all…
When am I able to pre-order the expansion?
Well, I guess the question is what’s in the topic title.
I don’t have a lot of disk space left, so I am curious how much more disk space the game will need with the new expansion?
Thanks.
Hi all,
I’m curious if the expansion will be available as a pre-release, and what the projected cost would be?
Thanks again

I’d like to add that I got a student discount on VMWare, so I’m using it…
DirectX has no issues. It’s able to recognize Iris Pro and render just fine.
No lag at all. Yet again, I’ve allocated 8GB of RAM to the VM.

I’m familiar with parallels desktop, I just prefer VMWare.
Having no directx issues. Everything renders just fine.
MacBook Pro 15", Intel Iris Pro, 16GB RAM… My VM has 8GB of RAM and 4 cores assigned to it.

Hi all,
I picked up a new MacBook Pro on the 5th… 15", 256GB SSD, 16GB of RAM, Quad Core i7 with HT.
I already have a Windows 8.1 VM in VMWare Fusion for school, being a computer science major, I have a Windows VM for things such as Cisco Packet Tracer and some software development tools.
The VM has 8GB of RAM allocated to it.
Will I have better luck / compatibility while running GW2 under the VM, or should I stick with the “Beta” Client?
Thanks.
I don’t do PvP / WvW… just regular PvE.
Should I be able to see many other players in the starting areas???
As far as content, can someone inform me as far as what is typically added? I see that there are no expansion packs for sale – so what exactly is added for new content? Are new events, places on the map / zones, and various other things added?
Could someone please explain to me what is typically added during an update, as well as letting me know how often these updates usually take place?
Also, a “Very High” population… is it typically like that all day long? Does it often get higher? Lower?
Hi,
I am going to be returning to GW2 tonight.
I believe I play on Yak’s Bend.
Can someone give me some insight as far as player populations, what zones have tons of other players, where to go, what to do, and if it is a highly populated server or not?
I enjoy playing on high population servers, more people to group.
Additionally, are the servers ever at maximum capacity, like on a Friday or something, where there is a wait to come on?
Thanks so much.
I appreciate your input. I’ve been playing World of Warcraft, and it is as if everyone is at level 90 or higher now just due to the new content, and I’m no where near 90 on any of my toons, so I figure I’d give GW2 another shot.
Hi,
I see the Mac Tech Support section archived.
Does this mean that the Mac version is now better functioning than it was, say a year ago?
Meh. Sad to see that its still in beta, even though it uses that CIDR wrapper.
I mean, EA uses such wrapper for their games and doesn’t call it a beta release.
Just curious… About how many players are logged in at one given time?
Thanks for the input all.
I’m going to give it a shot.
Thanks. Seems most likely worthwhile to continue to play… I’m liking the no monthly fees…
I’ll give it a shot for a while and I am thinking I’ll probably like it.
Although – if there are no quests, how do you know how to advance in the world and to go to new areas and when?
WOW! Working GREAT.
Emailed support and even they didn’t seem to know to do this.
Hi…
I’ve looked around the world, and it doesn’t look like there are quest givers and direct quest objectives like in other MMO’s.
Can someone give me some feedback?
How nice of you…
Okay. Makes sense.
Hopefully it won’t be dying.
Hi..
Just was curious if there was an estimate as to how many players are logged into Guild Wars 2 at any given time?
Hi…
I’ve got my Magic Mouse.
I try scrolling in and out, and it seems to instead scroll everywhere around my character. Everywhere BUT in and out.
Any suggestions?
I made a typo.
I didn’t mean EQ2’s Mac OSX version. I meant GW2’s. Sorry.
EQ2 does NOT have a Mac Client.
I had meant that WoW has a native OSX cversion while GW2’s Mac OSX version is using a Cider wrapper.
I will probably have to dial down my graphics, for sure.
If it just runs too crappy I’ll simply just stop playing.
This clears it up so much.
Thanks a lot.
Hopefully will like it, save me my subscription fee for WoW, but at the same time… WoW has a native OSX version while EQ2’s Mac OSX version is using a Cider wrapper…
Intel graphics on my MacBook may be a problem, not sure yet :-/
Able to run max quality on WoW.
Thanks. I’m going to get back into GW2… Will hopefully save me my $15/mo I am paying for WoW.
Hi all,
I’m from the world of EverQuest 2 and a little bit of World of Warcraft.
Can someone explain to me the similarities and differences between those MMO’s and GW2?
Might someone be able to explain exactly what you do in GW2 and how?
When I tried it last it seemed like all you do is get the POI’s and find stuff on the map, and then find randomly located NPC’s who may or may not give you things to do.
I’m used to the type of questing system where you know a NPC will be around a certain area, they will give you a specific quest, you finish, you return it.
Can someone explain in detail how all this works in GW2?
Thanks.
Only thing holding me back is the Intel based graphics.
I’m aware of that.
Hoping that it will still run.
If not I’m going to WoW.
Great to here.
I’m downloading it now.
Dougiefresh, I have the same model as you… Should work fine, I’m hoping. ;-)
Just curious. Not sure if I should get into GW2 or WoW. I did buy GW2. Hopefully the Mac version will run and will be stable, otherwise I’m out of here.
So…
About how many active players are on GW2?
Sounds great. Downloading and installing… Will give it a try for a while before I make a final decision if I should play GW2 or WoW.
Does it at least play okay, or should I stick with WoW until a true native release is out for GW2?
I’m curious if the Mac version is even worthwhile playable?
I’m on a MacBook Pro, i7, 13", Intel HD graphics.
Curious if this game will run, I understand they are using a Cider wrapper…. but I’m still curious if its worth playing?
I’ve also heard bad things about the use of the magic mouses?
Hi..
Wanted to know if it is worth returning. I bought GW2 at launch but never really played it.
I might like to add that I’m on a Mac now.
I’ve been into World of Warcraft for two months now, but am very curious about Guild Wars 2 again.
I was curious… is it a very active game? Are there many players online all at one given point of time?
Is it worth coming back to?
Are there plenty of helpful guilds and players that may be able to assist a player that is essentially “new”?
Thanks.
Hi all,
I bought my copy of GW2 opening weekend but never took the time to really play it.
I don’t game much, but recently I started playing World of Warcraft…
People in my guild tell me that WoW is dying, and had a massive decline in subscribers – 11 million down to 7 million…
I wanted to know:
What is the approximate population for GW2 players? How many active accounts are there?
I have a took on Yaks Bend I believe the server is called. Is that a decent place to play?
In WoW I LOVE doing my quests and exploring new areas, and then doing quests WITH fellow guild members if they become challenging, such as if I start to die during them.
What is the same in GW2 and WoW, and what is different?
The subscription fee isn’t the problem, nor is it the reason I’m looking into GW2. I also realize GW2 is much newer than WoW…
My big concern / question I want answered is exactly what you do in GW2. I would appreciate it if someone actually took the time to spell it out to me, as far as what you do, objectives, basically what there is to do (in simple terms, well explained), and the such.
I would be VERY grateful if someone could take the time to explain this to me.
In addition, I wanted to know if the GW2 population is growing, or decreasing…
Also wanted to know if it is easier to get in groups in GW2 than WoW.
I realize I’ve been asking a lot, but I really wanted these answers.
I would appreciate it SO MUCH if someone could spell all this out to me.
Oh, Could someone also tell me if the knowledge is out there:
I read there are bi-weekly updates… Could someone let me know a bit more as to what is in these updates, as well as an approximate total count of quests in GW2?
I love getting on EQ2/WoW and just doing quest after quest… Wanted to know if you can do that in GW2, or if you do something different?
Are there even a lot of quests in GW2? I really enjoy questing, and questing with people in the guilds… Someone in GW2 earlier when I logged in prior told me that questing is not a big objective in GW2, and, the main thing you do is just do map completion. That really turned me off. I can’t imagine that is true – is it?
Thanks.
