Had to hunt it down but here we go.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Share-your-data-about-perceived-strange-drop-behavior-here/first

I’d have to hunt for the six or seven threads that prompted Anet to make that one, but hey after 31 pages.

I honestly believe that some accounts are flagged for better drops that others upon creation.

They say they didn’t do it that way, but it also took six months of proof being posted daily before they admitted to a bug in people being flagged for loot.

Source?

Edit: Oh. If you’re going to link Final Rest then you should know that it didn’t drop at all prior to when they fixed it.

Check these forums, unless Anet deleted it, it should have a red tag and over a thousand replies.

Something was happening, people were getting flagged with DR and it wasn’t turning off for them ever.

Eventually Anet did actually investigate and find a problem, but only after months of proof.

Do you not remember? The topic was on the front page for months.

How do you know ANet didn’t start its investigation pretty quickly and just waited for enough data to make sure they had the only cause for the problem and the correct cause and not just a band aid fix?

Because it went.

Day one red post “There is no problem”

People started posting evidence .

Day X red post “Guys really there is no problem”

Even more evidence posted.

Day XX red post “Okay we will look at it.”

Day XX+1 red post “Okay you were right there was a bug, we are correcting it”

Are you all ready for your once a week chance for a random piece of legendary armour?

Once a week if you complete the instance, you two could have a one in a million chance of getting one of eighteen pieces of armour, which may or may not be one you’ve already picked up, or completely the wrong weight for your main!

But don’t worry even if you don’t get the armour, you too can take home a wonderful once a week prize of two yellows and a green!

Hey all,

We understand that there are many opinions and suggestions about the game versions and the pre-purchase program. We will continue to read your thoughts and thank you for sharing them.

Easiest fix I can suggest if you aren’t going to split the HoT purchase into separate GW2 and HoT codes, would be to have it add a character slot if applied to a pre-existing GW2 account.

Because otherwise it looks like you’re thanking us for paying you twice, by giving us less.

I kind of started the day outrage surfing, essentially laughing at all the kitten kids going crazy with their overwrought sense of entitlement.

Now though, now it’s just kind if dirty. Is this really how the world works now, where people riot over someone else getting a gift or over not being given enough gifts themselves?

I am only sad.

There is nothing stopping Anet giving everyone who buys HoT that extra GW2 key, people could use it for laurel farming, as a chill out account, give it to a family member, whatever.

It is a pretty crappy move for Anet to thank you for paying them twice, by giving you less.

That leaves the question:
Why do UK based players pay 111,52€ whilest the rest of the EU pays 100 flat rate?
If anyone has any answers to this, please enlighten me.

I have no idea, it could be our currency conversion currently to Euros.

It says that it costs £79.99 which translates to 111.5 Euros. If they charged us flat out 100 Euros they’d have to lower the £ cost which would make customers in Europe buy it in £’s rather than Euros.

We always get scammed in the UK, Australians also get scammed. Don’t worry too much about it.

We pay Tax up front in the UK, other countries get it added on afterwards.

Australians though just get scammed.

Are the codes separate when you pre-purchase?

Do you get a code for GW2 and another one for HoT?

Or is it only one code that combines both?

Because a third account would be useful.

You do not get 2 codes, the free account vanishes forever the moment you apply your expac purchase to an existing account.

Thank you for the info. Now that I know that, I won’t be pre-ordering then, and will wait until there is a sale so I do not feel like they are ripping me off in exchange for me supporting them by buying their game.

It isn’t a reward for Beta, what has happened is that collectors edition accounts got flagged as ‘beta accounts’ by Arenanets system, and when it came time to turn off their Beta access, they discovered the previous version of their account type was no longer something Anet could flag kitten they became heroic edition owners instead.

Tragedies happen everyday you can relate any tragedy to video game content. It’s just that the media decided to cover the plane tragedy extensively that everyone knows about it. I don’t know how you people get by in your daily lives if something that lasts a day in a video game provokes anger out of you

When 9/11 happened, Konami reworked the entire ending sequence of Metal Gear Solid 2 to avoid references to the Twin Towers.

A week after a mass murder by airplane, Anet could have not had an April fools where you get victory music for crashing and dying.

Timing is a key part of comedy, but it seems Anet have no understanding of timing, nor tact.

qqqqq I losing

must be because enemies are cheap, nothing to do with me~

Just like in League of legends there are some classes that are simply numerically better for different situations.

Unless you think say a warrior that can build a crap tonne of toughness so he doesn’t take damage, vitality so that even if he takes damage he can soak it, and condition damage to damage you.

‘But wait’ you cry ‘Condition damage bypasses toughness’.

Indeed it does but a warrior can build so that not only can he cleanse all the conditions on him by shouting, but also that the shouts heal him as well.

There are just some builds that are legitimately throw your hands up in the air bull crap.

The problem with a Full Tough+Vit Warr is that he’ll hit like a wet noodle, and he’ll hit slow as well. He’ll be reliant on Cleanses and Boons to survive, too, because Warriors cannot heal up quickly. Constant application of Poison will disrupt his Healing Signet, Buffing yourself with Boons will render his bonuses moot because he can’t get rid of yours and without Stab, you can freely stunlock him to set up a spike. Celestial Engineer will wreck such a warrior easily.

My point is this: A Tough+Vit shoutheal warr is relatively harmless. Everything has a hard counter, as a team it’s up you and your mates to figure out what that is.

So you decide you can’t kill him and back away, so his team maintains the point, your team has to direct extra people away from other points to gang up on this one guy.

It is somehow not cheesy for one guy to tie up several members of the opposing team? By being unkillable unless focused down by a team?

I mean it seems the hard counter you are suggesting is to give the guy the point he’s defending or to weaken your attack/defense of the other points to take the one that guy is on.

I mean the build I posted has twenty seconds of stability, how are you going to stun lock through that?

I guess my point is if the way to beat a build is to ‘bring more people’ then I find it cheese in the extreme.

Can you define what you mean by “cheese build”, if you haven’t already?

Because by and large, whenever I hear that, the definition usually boils down to “Something that I lose against without changing my preferred build”.

It may be harsh to say, but I’ve found that several builds players tend to consider “cheesy” in pvp have very simple counters, be they [Sigil of Doom], [Retaliation] or [Not being a kitten].

Just want to make sure this problem is addressing builds that are, unequivocally excellent in PVP and cannot be beaten by any means, and not just qq over players not spoonfeeding you kills.

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fJAQJASTjMdU5ZnHmhwJaAjgCdqfCrgpAIdRs3HBA-TJRWwA7fCA5vEAA2fgRZAA

I’d consider this a cheese build.

Edit:

Requires conditions to eat through the toughness, but can ignore conditions almost entirely.

Shouts remove conditions and heal, gets a free use of three utility slot skills.

Hammer allows them to knock back and down to prolong the fight until their healing shouts trigger again.

Mad regen on the signet.

Longbow allows easy stacking of might while also denying the ability to fight on point.

It’s a tank that does damage and also heals itself.

Why not find a counter to the builds? There has to be one.

^ This.
If players are becoming so predictable then it makes it easier for you to gain the upper hand through creative counter builds. Period. You’re at an advantage before the match even begins.

Because for the most part by building to counter the Cheese build you weaken your own build.

Say your fighting a knock build, so you take three stability granting utilities. Well there goes your condition clearing ability.

That is assuming the cheese build has a counter that doesn’t require several people.

A cheese build I dislike is Knock back engineer builds where they either take bombs if they want to be tanky or flamethrower if they want to be offensive. Pistol and shield gives them a knock back, flamethrower/bomb gives them another. Two turrets in their spare utility slots give them two more knock backs (detonation) and the healing turret a third.

So that’s a build with five A.O.E knockbacks when not every profession has an easy access to stability, and even then by the time stability has ended they will have refreshed at least one of their knock back skills.

There are some builds that are pretty cheesy, ones that allow the user to reset the fight should things start going wrong for them., or be so immune to condition damage that you actually buff them by landing a condition on them, or have so much knockdown or stun that you’d need three sets of stability to even try fighting them.

When the only counter to a build is to change your build so that it can counter and only counter the cheesy one, then it becomes an issue that should be looked at.

The New Dailies -- Feedback welcome

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Cactus Brawler.7415

Cactus Brawler.7415

The dailies are far too specific they need to be generalised, take the pvp dailies.

Win a match? That’s fine that’s the goal of PVP after all.
Defend a point? Part of playing.
Capture a point? Part of playing.
Win as specific profession? Not great.

Why isn’t it great? Because usually two of the four PVP dailies are win as X class, which means unless you intend to play one of those two classes you can’t do your daily through SPVP and have to venture into one of the other catagories.

If they are going to insist on having two of the dailies be profession based, makes them either more generalised.

Win as heavy armour class.
Win as light armour class.
Win as medium armour class.

Or change them to be kill/kill as Profession so that either slaying or slaying as one of those professions counts.

Making people abandon their main PVP class just to get the daily done is lame and makes matches unfun.

Likewise in PVE less of the ‘Do events in this Zone’ crap, switch it to ‘Do events in this Region’ and less ‘Do this specific world boss’ change it to ‘Do a world boss’.

More emphasis on ‘Play how you want’ and less Anet telling us what to play each day.

From the sudden influx of red posts with even Colin himself replying, its obvious that anet is finally aware of the massive displeasure for this feature pack.

From what i can see, they seem to be indicating that all the kittenification
brought by the NPE is due to unforeseen bugs, and the actual experience
isnt what we are supposed to be encountering. (eg: You shouldn’t faceroll
everything by dancing lol! good vid btw)

Whether its really bugs or their realisation that no one like their feature designs,
and they are using “bugs” as an excuse to salvage the issue, I say give them a
couple of days to sort things out. Lets see how it goes.

To anet: Whether it is really bugs or not, the QC for this feature patch
is pretty much non existent. Hope we can look forward to a less clusterkitten
experience in the future.

You do not think that ‘this’ speaks volumes for Anet as a company, that their big ‘feature’ patch could be bugged to this level, speaks poorly on them for Q.A assuming they actually did any of it.

I can not see how any of these issues could not have been picked up during any reasonable Q.A cycle.

Anecdotal this may be, but it is one drop in a moderately filled bucket that clearly dumps onArenaNet the fact they most likely had too many playtesters who had preconceptions about how MMOs should work, leading them to cater far too much to traditional MMO fans.

I feel like they could do what they did to the Spider. Downgrade the champions to Elite. Over in Kessex Hills, upgrade a few to Champions. =)

This is a good idea. Remove champions from all 1-15 zones by replacing them with Elites. Just relocate the QD train to Kessex or the like. The train runners can have their mind numbing farm and the starter zones can be free of it.

Why make the 1-15 zones play any differently from the rest of the games, for example take a look at traits, you unlock them at 36 but wait some of them require you to do something many times higher in level.

Or you can pay cash and skill points?

Lucky the train bags drop skill scrolls and coin right?

I do not share your viewpoint on this. You make it sound like Queensdale is the standard for every other map in GW2, that it should be held as the example for new players. Starter zones should be areas for learning the basics of general PvE, gradually learning. Not – Champ Train 101 or bust!

What standards of PVE? You mean auto-attacking mobs that are no longer a threat because everything got a nerf to make up for the fact players have less stats till end game?

Or you mean the stack and auto-attack basics of PVE which you learn in the train anyway and will use in everything from dungeons to the latest living story content?

God forbid there be content that’s hard enough you cant simply mindlessly zerg it. Teq is easy enough as it is. If you want to beat it, you’d look up tips on how to beat it, and you’d devote the necessary effort to try and coordinate. If you dont want, or refuse, to do either of those, you wont beat teq, simple as that.

Oh, duplicate thread by the way. I doubt the one already dealing with this issue has even left the first or second page.

Now lets say I do that (I have by the way) that doesn’t mean anyone else on the map I’m randomly placed on, has done it.

And given what servers I play on, even if I was so driven that I would commander up and explain, it might just put me on a map where people don’t speak my language, or even the same language as each other.

Content like this shouldn’t be open world, its its content that relies on other people not screwing up it should be instanced, so that you know people can learn it and do it like the raid its supposed to be ~_~

Why make the 1-15 zones play any differently from the rest of the games, for example take a look at traits, you unlock them at 36 but wait some of them require you to do something many times higher in level.

Or you can pay cash and skill points?

Lucky the train bags drop skill scrolls and coin right?

Exactly, if they wanted something ‘super hard’ (It isn’t but it needs the right people) they should of upgraded the Claw, at least that ones in a level 80 zone.

With the way they’ve destroyed leveling, the train is the only real viable way, and at least there is less running than the EotM train.

What I dislike about Tequatl, is that it can’t be solo’d.

No matter how perfect you perform your role in the encounter, it won’t matter if enough of the crowd are screw ups.

It’s not hard content (It really isn’t it has one new mechanic the drowning pool teleport, the rest have been seen before, SAB brought in the shock wave jumping, as did MF), it’s just a numbers game, have enough people with a decent build, and a bit of knowledge turned up?

Yes? Congratulations you win.

No? Too bad, there is no way no matter how hard you play, you will win.
