I’ve mastered 4 different crafting disciplines so far and I agree with the OP that the cost of materials versus the value of a finished item is out of sync.
Other than experience gain, a player is better off buying all of the gear from the Trading Post than trying to make it themselves. There’s a fundamental problem with the system when a player must be forced to spend more money to make something than just buying the finished product out-right.
Even when you consider Exotic gear at level 80, the cost to reach that point plus only buying SOME of the materials exceeds the cost to just buy it directly on the Trading Post.
I’ve bought gems in the past with no problems. Today I have tried two different CC’s and even PayPal but every single purchase fails with a nondescript error message.
I’ve got a support ticket in but the first response was unhelpful because it was just “oh, contact your bank to find out why it was declined”. Now we’re talking about three different financial institutions all blocking payments from NCSoft?
Has anyone else had a problem purchasing gems today?
Yes, the invisibility bug and hacks are making a mess of WvW. I am willing to wait because GW2 is a fantastic game with a solid foundation — but these problems are really frustrating and unacceptable.
Personally, I am very surprised to see an MMO with flying/speed hacks — seems like they would have built the server-side code with better checks to prevent this kind of hacking.
Fix: de-select “Been There, Done That” achievement.
Mesmers — the first class to get nerfed.
Prior to Oct 7, I would only encounter the invisibility issue a few times per day … now it’s almost non-stop during large-scale battles or when two small forces meet.
Question: how long until USA guilds intentionally re-roll on EU servers so they can night-cap and vice-versa? Answer: it’s already happening.
The only way I could see them balancing it is to restrict each world’s queue to be close/relative to the world with the least amount of players — but that is never going to happen.
There are multiple speed/teleport hacks being used by several groups of players. This cheating needs to be stopped and bans issued swiftly or GW2 will quickly be labelled a cheating paradise like DayZ.
Yeah, it’s wrecking playable of the game because a few guild members get in after 5 minutes, then 75% get in after 20 minutes … the remaining 20% never get it at all, even after hours of waiting.
They said the know about the problem, but they haven’t said when it’s going to be fixed. NOT ACCEPTABLE.
The WvW queue system is broken/buggy/unreliable. Many of my guild members queue … some of us get in, some of us do not. Some people wait for HOURS in the queue and never get invited … others wait 5 minutes and get in.
When will this be fixed?! I find it absurd that it’s been over a month and the problem still hasn’t been addressed.
Personally, I think the solution to the problem is to just remove loot items from WvW and replace it with a point/currency since Badges of Honor are used the same manner anyway.
You remove loot drops and add coins and honor currency for every kill … then players will be buying gear upgrades on the trading post, thus making the economy more healthy in the process.
Unless they can make the items magically appear in my inventory/vault, I don’t see a whole lot of other options to make it any less cumbersome.
CAN WE GET AN OFFICIAL RESPONSE PLEASE?!
My point: we shouldn’t be required to spam the “F” key while fighting if we want loot.
Picking up loot bags in WvW combat is problematic … I lose so many loot bags because I’m focusing on fighting and moving rather than trying to pick up loot bags.
So, I think I speak for the majority of players when I say that looting in WvW could be vastly improved.
Can we get an official response to this problem? Is this something we can expect to be fixed in the near future or is there no plan to change it?
I’m pretty sure the “???” achievement has something to do with the holiday/Halloween stuff they have planned.
So, I just completed the “Been There, Done That” achievement … went in, selected it … but since there doesn’t seem to be any way to turn on nameplates, I can’t even seen it myself.
Does anyone know how to make it so you can see your own title?
Also, I haven’t seen any other players with an actual title in their name. For example, I would expect to see the following format:
Player Name [guild]
<Title>
However, the only thing I have ever seen on player is a gold start next to their health bar.
Any help here would be much appreciated, thanks!

This is a good idea … but if you joined a server that didn’t have WvW queues, you wouldn’t have this problem … come to Darkhaven! We need more WvWers!
Well, that someone is wrong because I have completed everything in every zone except the WvW zones and I’m at 97%.
I think most players have suffered from accidently buying a Karma item … could you please add a confirmation dialogue to Karma-based purchases?
When searching for armor, it’s often a very difficult to sort through all of the armor Light/Medium/Heavy armor sets when you’re only looking for, say, Heavy. Please add a filter option “Show Only Items I Can Equip” or a further restriction to limit the set to class of armor.
Thanks!
It would probably be a completely different group developing a mobile or web app because it’s different technology.
I think it would be fabulous if there were a mobile app or web-based WvW map that was in real-time. Many gamers have multiple monitors and it would be nice to be able to view the overall status of the war without having to open the in-game map.
The ability to complete exploration of the four WvW zones is based purely on server’s ability to progress/capture … why is an individual achievement based on the server’s ability to work together?
Please remove WvW zones from World Completion requirement because it’s not balanced.
Hard-mode games are starting to make a resurgence … look at Diablo 3 and DayZ! We need more perma-death games!
It’s October, and this problem still isn’t fixed yet.
The community has been patient but the rate at which the broken skill challenges and events are being fixed is unacceptable. ArenaNet has demonstrated that they are capable of committing resources to get these problems correctly in a more timely fashion but we haven’t seen that since the week of release.
We’ve been dealing with this problem for three weeks and it needs to be fixed. If ArenaNet isn’t willing to invest the resources to get this problem fixed sooner, the players need compensation for these GAME-BLOCKING problems.
This is STILL BROKEN. Honestly, this level of game-blockage after 30 days is totally unacceptable.
This renown heart is too hard and requires too much time investment to complete. The number of Seekers needs to be reduced by at least 50%.
Can we get some kind of update on when these will be fixed? Many, many, many players cannot progress their completions of areas or skill points because of blocking.
This, to me, should be one of the highest priorities because it affects the most players.
I’ll get right to the point: the mob density is far too high in zones without renown hearts.
I play a Ranger and mobility and range is a key component to my profession’s ability to survive. However, the design on these higher level zones seems to go against most of the innovative combat mechanics created for this game.
PLEASE — reduce the mob density and respawn rate in these zones because it just isn’t necessary.
NPCs do it because that’s what MAKES SENSE. A downed player is the easiest possible target — play WvW or sPvP … a downed player gets swarmed by every nearby enemy player.
It sucks, but the moral of the story: avoid the downed state.
I, too, would be in favor of daily restarts to mitigate the problem until there is a fix — I’ve been trying to complete several areas for a few days but cannot because of broken event blocking.
The obvious solution is to fight at ranged, but what if you want to play melee? Many people roll warriors, guardians and thieves because they want to play at melee. Why should they be denied their play style choices for a certain boss? A player should be able to play how they want, and the dungeons and bosses should still be accessible to them if they can play well.
I think most people get what you are saying, but what ArenaNet is doing here is nothing new. I have never played an MMO that allowed every player to employ the same tactics for every fight.
Ranged classes can make the same argument — there are certain bosses/encounters where they just can’t stand back and blast away from ranged without getting attacked or fend off a bunch of adds without using point-blank attacks.
I say this with the utmost respect … you’re complaining about the fact that every profession has DIVERSITY — every class has ranged attacks. ArenaNet is teaching you to use them — you SHOULD use them because they are part of what makes your profession what it is. If you only want to use melee, then only use melee … but don’t complain about the fact that you can’t just stand close and swing when you have the tools to adapt to the situation.
Did you try to take the supply camps near the keep/tower you were assaulting thus starving them of repairs?
Yep, but you can’t do anything about 40 players all carrying supply on themselves. One person can bring a downed wall back up.
I would also like to see a cooldown on the portals … defenders can run in-and-out too often, which tips the balance heavily. If they run outside, they shouldn’t be able to re-enter if they have used the portal in the past 30 seconds.
These huge keep/tower standoffs aren’t fun. The main problem is that walls and gates can be insta-repaired after they are downed.
Once a gate or wall is down, there should be at least a 10 minute cooldown until it can be rebuilt or it should take at least the FULL AMOUNT of supply to get it back up again once it reaches zero.
Overall, I am less-than-impressed with WvW because the only way to make real progress is to zerg and the game rewards turtling. There is definitely a lot of tweaking needed.
