The premier “competitive” game titles have some sort of ranking system that lets an inidividual know how they compare with others in the game. It is asinine that Areanet has not implemented EARNED BY TIME PLAYED. This means, a player that has 10 wins and 1000 losses, will surely be a higher rank than someone with 200 wins 10 losses. How are we to compare ourselves to others?
Most people that play PvP are competitive by nature, and the current system doesn’t alow for long-term competition (climbing elo-ladder). Instead, the competiton ends when that individual match does. I understand Anet wants to keep game casual, but would a rankign system really deter and upset casual gamers? I doubt it.
I recommend an ELO system similar to the one in WvW, but for individual players in sPvP tournaments. Even if they only apply it for paid tournaments, I feel it would be a great addition

Are you out of slots? If not, why not make both and take turns playing them? One or both has a chance to win you over that way.
For the record, I have had a lot of fun with both Necro and Engi.
i’m not out of slots but I just want to pick one so I can hit 80 as fast as possible. I’ve played both in spvp and still cant choose
thanks for your response, I like the idea of necro for wvw because you can keep the life bar up on mobs. How was leveling up in wvw (if you went the route)? I found the thief really sucked before i hit 80
Deciding between Necromancer and Engineer for my next character. I currently use a thief and I love him. I like him because he is strong solo/small groups. Solo is important because my computer is trash so I opt out of zerging most of the time. Which class do you think would be better rolling with 1-6 people flipping supply camps? Who do you guys who have both 80 think is more fun? Any other roaming classes you would suggest for me? thanks
(questions for wvw)
i like to combine it with basilik venom… A shame there aren’t more elites on short CDs
the inquest hood from CoE looks pretty cool, its a hood with a scorpian-type mask
Is insanely powerful, it is the best skill to bring if your goal is to down people 1v1 as quickly as possible
I’m new to gw2, I’ve been playing about a month, mostly thief spvp. the 5 skill with dagger off-hand Cloak and daggers seems weak as hell and a waste of 6 initiate unless escaping. vulnerability is a paltry 1% damage per stack, and 6 initiative for stealth for a few seconds? Am i missing something here? I never use it when running d/d… what am i missing?!
The only thing I HATE about GW2 that I forgot to mention is that there is no click to move option (which was standard in GW1). Idk why this is not included….
Had this game for a week and this is the first mmorpg that doesn’t feel like a complete grind. Experience for exploring new places? Brilliant. XP scaling with levels is cool too. You can basically do whatever you want in PvE without feeling like you are wasting time and missing out on experience. I love the events and haven’t even tried dungeons yet (i’m a level 23 thief). sPvp is fun as hell too., although another map or too would be sweet I haven’t even played WvW yet, but many people seem to like that better. Anyway, I just wanted to say how thrilled I am with GW2
