OR, and hear me out on this, they could just add a new form of currency that you can only obtain a certain amount of per week, make obtaining said currency only available through one piece of content and have said piece of content be completely out of the way and force players to grind out yet another unfun activity that they normally wouldn’t so they can keep up with the gear grind. That seemed to work so well with rings, amulets and accessories. And this way we can have all 8 of our characters fully geared up before gw3 comes out.
Haha
Again, like I said, my idea is that there is no increase in stat points, but the choice of adding an infusion slot to existing armor if you are someone who wants to progress higher up in Fractals
Or…do you want to be given 60 AR for free? :O

so instead of grinding a new set u want us to grind items to infuse armor, probably with rng drop rate, and to make things worse… in fractals???
No n.n
My idea is that it’d be something you aim TOWARDS, not any of that RNG (something which has seemingly left a VERY sour taste in your mouth)…
An item worth maybe 500 relics at the hub merch, which is then the key ingredient in the upgrade (plus shards, globs, etc…) +75 for the simple infusion, etc.
I have a better idea. A-Net should stop with adding any more ascended gear so we get to keep the same armor and weapons.
You misunderstood my suggestion!
The armor stays the same, only if you are someone who does alot of fractals, like me, you have the option to upgrade that armor to include an Infusion slot!
I would like ascended armor items just because of the facts that now my armor/weapons are exotic (orange) and my jewels are ascended (pink).
Would like to have them same color no extra stats required or maybe only Agony resistance so that we could go higher tier Fractals since thats about the only thing i do in GW2 xDedit: maybe put in an charactermark (like the map completion star) when u’ re full ascended that would be cool.
Yeah It’d work nice (my idea, I mean) if the upgrade caused the item piece itself to start having pink text

I actually like having the armor I want already and never having to worry about it again.
That’s exactly what I mean. Instead of giving us another tier of armor with slightly higher stats to grind for, just add the option for FotM frequenters to upgrade existing armor to just include infusion slots, etc. That way people don’t have to worry about grinding another set.

It’s not a big idea and has probably been discussed already, but instead of an entirely new armor tier being put into the game (thereby adding a “gear grind” that anet seemed oh so against), make it so the existing armor has to be ascended through use of the Mystic Forge (I guess, or something else they come up with), and then infused (not for a huge cost).
All it will do is add pink text and an infusion slot. Then for infused, add an inherent +5 AR, keeping the infusion slot aswell.
Keep the armor stats the same in my opinion.
Ideas?

School of thought #1: “I truly believe with every fiber of my being that everyone in the game is paying attention to my avatar whenever I’m around, and spending time + energy processing how cool my equipment looks. How can they not, for I am the center of the universe and the specialists of snowflakes.”
That’s a lot of judgement for one italicized paragraph.

Just an fyi to those of you with a vendetta against ANet about this…
The gem store and it’s products is NCSoft, not ANet. Stop being mad at the company that made the game…and better yet, don’t even be mad at NCSoft, because the cash that’s gone in to these crates (and other things) have given them enough to give the nod for a GW2 expansion.
If you don’t have a job and your mum is getting tired of you using her credit card, then just don’t go for these appearance-only items. You’ll live.Last i knew most of the profit from the gem store went to NCsoft and funded their other MMOs? But maybe i was mislead somewhere?
Yeah, the profit goes to NCsoft who then decide what to do with it. Because the profit from the gem store in GW2 was so good, they decided to use that money to fund an expansion for the game which I guess would in turn equal more profit?
You should read more closely. they already said that was a misunderstanding and no expansion is currently in the works.
In fact, if gem shop income is that good, then all that income will buy us is even more of the RNG boxes.
YOU should read more closely. I said that NCsoft said that profits were enough that they decided to fund an expansion, I at no time said there was one in the works.
And ofcourse more RNG boxes will come. I hope they do, too. More greatswords for me to collect.

Do you think that ANET had nothing to do with the gem store? that another company just randomly dropped in and started selling stuff? of course not. ANET has absolute say in this…
ANet DESIGNS the items that go into the store, yes. But the gemstore is hardly their jurisdiction. NCsoft is the development company and they are the company in charge of the gemstore.
Dude that’s like saying McDonald’s isn’t responsible for their beef patty because they don’t farm the cattle.
If it’s in their game, they’re responsible.
The gem store is there because the game was published by NCsoft. Anet designs skins, yes, but then they hand that over to NCsoft who then decide on a price/marketing and put it in the gemstore.
McDonald’s BUYS beef from where they choose to buy it, but the cattle farmer doesn’t decide how to market McD’s burgers. Unrelated comparison.
Yeah ANet of course has some say in the matter, but with this I assume they say:
“look, we want to keep getting money from this game, so you can fund us to create more content, so NCsoft, please, make money the best way you know how”.

Off the top of my head there’s only one fight in fractals where I use Wall and that’s to project the raving asura’s agony. It’s easy to dodge but I like to just slam those kitty golems as quick as possible at that point in the fractal.
In dungeons, I find it useful in speed clears of certain bosses (TA end boss) and some stuff in Orr, but I don’t keep it on my kit. I change to it when I think it’s necessary, but hey, that’s what is so great about being able to change your utility skills on the fly!
you dont take WoR for shaman/dredge?… really?…
Nope, barely need it. The adds in shaman are easy enough to burst down if people take the right weapons.
And where on earth in dredge do you need wall…
I don’t mean to seem like a scrub, but I’ve honestly never noticed a need for it!
Protect him at all costs.
Since we are throwing out ideas, Here is one. I think just being able to use our utilities during them would be cool. ( and they need to last a bit longer you barely use all 5 skills before its gone.) Utilities are a huge defensive boost to us without them we are a bit more vulnerable.
I still would not use it in WvW though sadly, zerg fights that T1 is. ide rather take 3 seconds of burst immunity and virtue refresh than a book ill get 2 skills off before it goes away from lag.
Yeah that’d be nice at the very very least.
Have you played Tome of Wrath in a burst build? It’s incredibly powerful in WvW. Not only can you easily critical hit foes for over 2k damage, while also applying burning, the visual aspect of the skill is also great for applying pressure to a zerg. When most players see a huge blue flame under them; they move.
I would like a longer duration on Tome of Courage, but that’s about the only change I want to see. When beating down a gate in WvW, you can single-handedly keep allies on rams at max health, when using Tome of Courage. If you have a handful of Guardians, you can take turns in healing, which is very powerful.
The only negative thing about the Tomes, is the fact that you only need two or three skills, and can almost completely ignoring the other skills. With Tome of Wrath, I only use Zealot’s Fervor and Conflagrate, and then sometimes Affliction if foes are running away. Judgment has a way too long channel time, deals no noteworthy damage, and will mostly get you killed. Smiter’s Boon doesn’t affect yourself, only allies, and while using Tomes you don’t need to go anywhere, so the swiftness is useless. With Tome of Courage, I only really use Heal Area and Purifying Ribbon. If there is a lot of damage on rams, I might use Protective Spirit for the 10 seconds of protection. Light of Deliverance has the same problem as Judgment; a too long channel time means it’s not worth using over the #1 skill. Pacifism is just pointless in a weapon set that otherwise don’t effect foes.
Honestly, the biggest issue with the Tomes, is that not enough Guardians use them. They are better then what they’re given credit for.
Can’t say I have, as a guardian I focus more on keeping stability/lines up, i’ll have to give it a try though

Not sure how many people feel about the current state of the Tome elites. I know Tome of Courage is decent in WvW but other than that they seem sort of lackluster.
I’ve noticed a few people on the forums in the past ask for the ability to play something akin to a “holy mage” build on their guardian, and really Tome of Wrath embodies that idea the most in my opinion. While our current ranged weapon state really isn’t the best (it doesn’t need to be, though scepter definitely needs a fix on the 1 skill), having the Tome elites (primarily Tome of Wrath, as Tome of Courage as a permanent “pack” would be 100% heals and would completely go against the ethos of GW2) as permanent packs could add ALOT of variety to Guardian builds.
Tome of Wrath’s skills wouldn’t even need reworks because with the current state of the skills (long cooldowns on 3, 4, 5, as well as the damage still not being all that overpowered, etc.) it would provide a viable ranged “dps” build for the Guardian and also quench the thirst some people have for their guard to be a “holy mage”.
Tome of Courage on the other hand should probably stay as is, unless people have any ideas re. that?
In my honest opinion this would be a much better solution to Guardians lack of ranged damage output then adding another weapon, eg. i’ve seen a lot of people ask for the ability to use a longbow on their guard (Still not sure if that’s a joke or not…)
Anyway, thoughts?

Also after reading over this thread and the amount of dumb kitten I’ve seen, allow me to please break this up with a neutral explanation
The game, stat wise, does not force you to go any further than CoF gear. Some people choose to get their exotics that way and are happy with it because they like the skins or are happy with it because their focus isn’t on the skins.
The game, skin wise, satisfies another community within the game. With that, there are many ways to alter the appearance of your quite easily attainable CoF gear. eg. I very rarely see OoW heavy armor or weapons in game, so if someone is about being unique and noticed rather than having something they actually like the look of, there are plenty of skins they can get.
However, this game isn’t either gameplay or aesthetics, it’s both. What GW2 ISNT about is stat grinding. With gamble skins like the SSC crates and F&F, 80% of the mad is from people who want the new skin right right right now so they have something that others dont so they look cool and like they mean something when they stand around in LA. They’ll say it’s game breaking for them, but when the next shiny toy comes along, they’ll be frothing at the mouth about that instead, and probably won’t even remember the last thing they wanted so badly it made them rage on the forums.
The RNG crates, while obviously irritating to a small minority, are staying. You might not get the SSC weapon ticket when someone else does, but next month you’ll get something that they don’t get. Stop complaining about not being able to have everything.
