You are not banned, just suspended.

You basically have to wait it out. There is nothing more you can really do. And the “my little brother did it” excuse is one they have heard millions of time, and it hasn’t worked with any of them, so i don think it will work for you.

It is also highly unlikely that this was mistaken identity. Your name would have be reported, and they would verify that you did break a rule before issuing a suspension.

And yes you can be permanently banned for multiple infractions on your account.

If the guy was streaming porn and you linked to his stream – you linked to porn. And potentially commited a crime where you live by providing porn to minors. Be lucky they only banned you and didn’t refer you to law enforcement like some companies do.

If you can log into the forum you can log in to the game. And anything less than 3 days is not way too long.

I’m sure if they were able to restore it for you, they would. Good luck finding anything better. This one little thing doesn’t qualify as poor customer service. Server crashes happen on other games too, and they roll back a lot more, and never return lost progress. ArenaNet has done a good job at keeping losses minimal, compared to what I have seen before elsewhere. If losing one little thing like that is enough to make you leave…wow…

Sounds like a really sorry reason to me.

Just remember if you get the refund, but then decided to come back you’ll have to start all over with a new account.

Its unlikely I will be coming back, yet have not completely made up my mind yet. I thank you for your time and the information.

There is a time window for refunds. I believe its 90 days.

You can add the name to your friends list and ask the person who has it if you can have it.

I seriously doubt that ArenaNet will delete someones character just so someone can get a name.

There is no phone support. If there was, I can almost guarantee you would be on hold for hours(6+).

Congratulations on implementing something so crucial. However, only one restoration?

I can totally understand the want to put limits on this, but only one restoration for the lifetime of the account? That’s a bit embarrassing, and I think it needs to be reconsidered. This game might live on for years to come, bringing a lot of dedicated players with it. They get hacked once after years of play, fine, but after a few more years they’re out of luck if they get hacked again, losing years of play? Things like that can really discourage someone from playing the game, and any other game run by the same company.

I hope this gets thought out a bit more.

Don’t forget, those who purchased previously had other opportunities: Beta access, Head-start access, digital items, the post-trial offer, event participation, etc. With each promotion there are different incentives.

As someone who has been supporting GW2 from the start, buys gems, active in telling friends, follows closely on status updates & even going out of my way to vote up the outstanding support from ArenaNet and their product (such as pushing for GOTY, etc)… this is a virtual slap to the face.

It’s things like this… the little things… that really make a customer feel like they got betrayed by the company they put their faith in.
“So what it’s just a hat” or “Yeah it’s just a virtual item that you probably wont use” – well guess what? So is EVERYTHING from the Gem Store that I’ve dumped more money into than a monthly subscription would yield. Does that mean I should pull my interest in virtual items?

It’s called DIGITAL DELUXE EDITION – If its a different promotion then call it something else. I purchased DIGITAL DELUXE and it should include what comes with the DIGITAL DELUXE edition. Because my Digital Deluxe did not come with the Wizard kitten

Flip that coin around and give the hat to the customers as a bonus for being a member of the Digital Deluxe Edition and you will get praised and may even encourage customers to upgrade.
However get stingy on those there from the start and these little things WILL eventually add up, because who really knows what the next Digital Deluxe Edition will include?

Whatever it is, this is the first step in the wrong direction from ArenaNet – no matter how petty it may seem, it always starts small… and gets bigger… I never pegged them as a company to do this kind of stuff, but as a consumer… it’s my guard coming up for a company I trusted.

I completely agree with this. Offering it only to new customers is a bad move on ArenaNet’s part. I have seen this stuff done with other games, and it drove people away.

Because you threatened a lawsuit, you just shut down all avenues of support from Anet, as now they will forward you to their legal team, and you need to deal with them.

But it sounds like your beef is with the retailer. If you paid via creditcard, you can file a complaint with your bank (if it’s within a certain time frame). I recommend you speak with your bank ASAP and file a fraud report with that transaction. At the same time, speak with the retailer directly. IF you have done no wrong, you should be able to resolve this issue of a refund directly from the retailer, or through your bank refunding your money.

If you did it with cash, your only option would be to talk to the retailer and work with them.

Threatening to sue to company will get you nothing, they are very well protected legally from people who want to sue just because they got banned. This is a problem with the retailer.

The game is exactly as advertised. That and along with the EULA, which you did agree too. You are not entitled to a refund.
