Scarlet Stomp is extremely annoying

in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

Caveth.3268

You can also use mist form on an Ele while doing the stomp when you see the orange circle. It’s pretty much easy mode rather than having to continuously watch that cutscene for each attempt to learn when to dodge.

Presumably the Necro elite Plague would also work.

Unlike other classes Necros can’t stomp while in any transformation. However if you follow Dulfy’s guide it should still be possible for necros.

You can stomp players with Plague form. Start the finisher and then use plague while in the finisher animation.

It doesn’t work on Scarlet, though; she just removes your stability and knocks you back anyway.

Caveth.3268

“The mysterious and ancient Wardens guard the areas of Cantha…”

I don’t think Maguuma will have Wardens, seeing as how it’s not part of Cantha. However, Wardens I suppose could be related in some way to the Sylvari and there are other wardens in Maguuma; or perhaps those Wardens moved to areas of Maguuma in the past 250 years since gw1.

Caveth.3268

Currently the event is bugged and the knights don’t give you the buffs you need when you kill them. So I’d advice waiting until ANet fixes it, currently no one (in overflows at least) can’t get to the Scarlet’s airship phase.

Not that it would matter even if it was fixed. Killing 3 legendaries on an underpopulated overflow is still impossible.

Just craft the spineblade back piece. The basic one with no upgrade whatsoever. And enter the purple portal.

This only grants you entrance to the very last part of the story, while skipping the actual battle. So to do that, you still have to defeat the Assault Knights.

I just did the instance, and yeah… it skipped some pretty important story parts… I don’t understand why Arenanet would gate the end of the entire season 1 living story behind zerg content that has to extremely organized. It’s so stupid. I’m probably done with GW2 after this season of the living story. What a disappointment.

Caveth.3268

At the top of the hour, every hour, three assault knights spawn in Lion’s Arch which you have to kill. Kill all three of them, get all three color buffs, and you’re able to go through the white portal. After that there’s a hologram and i’m not sure what else other than that the ending is awesome (I used the purple portal which skips you to the ending given you have the spinal blade pack and doesn’t require the assault knights to be killed)

So arenanet expects me to defeat 3 legendarys with the very few people in the overflow maps… We couldn’t even defeat one of them in the oveflow – how the heck can we defeat all 3? I don’t understand this event at all…

Just give greatsword to necromancer so i can use twilight.

That’s like giving necro a hammer. It just doesn’t work.

I think you just lack creativity. Mesmers shoot pink laser beams from extreme range with the greatsword – it’s easily possible to think of cool ideas for necromancers to channel magic through a greatsword or hammer.

Caveth.3268

Even if Scarlet got a Wyld Hunt, I don’t think she would follow it. Or at the very least, she wouldn’t admit she is following it.

“Sapling?” Serimon said. “I’m here to help you acclimate. To help you understand your place in this world and identify the purpose Pale Mother has given you.”
Her eyes remained fixed on on the complex living dance of the forest. “I’ll find my own place, thank you very much. And it’s hardly ‘my’ purpose if someone else gives it to me.”
Serimon’s face soured, but he kept his soothing tone. “You’ve awakened with a wealth of confidence,” he said. “But don’t presume too much. We all make choices in life, but sometimes choices are made for us. Especially we children of the Pale Tree. It is the way of things.”
“The way of things?” Ceara smiled. Serimon’s world was so clearly defined for him. He would never challenge it, never test it, never seek to redefine it.
She laughed merrily and said, “Thank you for attending my awakening, mender. But where my life is concerned, I will be the one who chooses.”

Caveth.3268

kralketorik used to be a “mountain range”

You realize that this “mountain range” separated two zones that used to be probably roughly comparative to ONE zone in GW2… Plus we do not know how much of him was revealed, was the beginning and end the top of his head and end of his tail? If so I’d say he’s comparable to Zhaitan today…

Zhaitan isn’t very big at all; he’s not even remotely close to the size of a mountain range. Zhaitan is around as large as the special airship they used at the end of the Arah story mode.

Caveth.3268

Proposal Overview

  • Sentry Turrets (that reveal enemies on EotM) and/or the Observatory should be on every WvW map.

Goal of Proposal

  • Helps players scout for enemies attacking their structures – replacing the need for a player to stand in a tower all day being bored out of their mind as a lookout.

Proposal Functionality

  • There should be an Observatory on every map that can be captured.
  • When captured, players on the server that captured it may place Sentry Turrets to track enemies on the mini-map. Or, the Observatory itself could track enemies within its area of effect.
  • Perhaps place multiple Observatories; each one would allow coverage for a different part of the map. A good number would be 3 to 12 per map, so that one doesn’t cover too much of the map by itself.
  • Observatories should be places that are easy to capture; likely without walls or gates. This would help players quickly take them out to sneak around and capture more important locations.

Associated Risks

  • It may become very hard to sneak around to capture places with small groups.
  • Even with a large zerg, an enemy may always be ready to counter if they can see you on their map at all times.

Under Lion's Arch

in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

Caveth.3268

The Depths were not ‘under Lion’s Arch’, exactly – you could also enter them from Cantha and Elona. So they covered all of Tyria, presumably.

Those depths in Cantha and Elona weren’t really canon. They were only placed there for people who only had Nightfall/Factions campaigns and not the original Prophecies – and needed access to the Eye of the North areas. The real story is that it was beneath Lion’s Arch.

Caveth.3268

I normally don’t use minions unless I go to a low level area. I did end up using them once in the latest patch though… The minions ran around in circles and did nothing. Also, I always have those annoying Jagged Horrors popping up.

Additionally, my jagged horrors get hit by AoE’s and will run off to attack whatever hit them – without me giving any sort of command for them to do so and without me getting hit by anything myself. I am tired of being put into battle by stupid minion AI from jagged horrors running off to kill things that I didn’t even aggro.

CDI- Fractal Evolution

in CDI

Posted by: Caveth.3268

Caveth.3268

Proposal Overview

  • The rewards in the fractals should be completely overhauled and increased.

Goal of Proposal

  • Encourage playing fractals at higher difficulties for increased rewards.
  • Give all players realistic goals to work toward in the fractals.
  • Make an unlock system for fractal rewards.
  • Allow veteran players to also gain new rewards from fractals.

Proposal Functionality

  • The amount of gold given at the end of fractals should increase by 1 per 10 levels. This will help reward players doing the incredibly challenging high level fractals at 50 (and perhaps 51+ in the future).
  • Fractals should award players with consumable items that grant permanent agony resistance on their account; it should work like Luck to magic find. It would have diminishing returns, but would still help increase agony resistance and allow them to play alt character in fractals.
  • There should be a non-random unlock system for armor/weapons. I suggest allowing the player to choose to unlock one reward on their account every 10 fractal levels; this would work just like achievement chests – allowing the player to withdraw the reward again whenever they please. Things available to be chosen should be fractal armor, weapons, tonics, etc.
  • Automatically increase fractal level once a certain number of fractal players reach the highest level. Creating an automatic system would keep the fractal progression going while players continue to progress, and help keep high level players at an equal level so they can continue to find groups easily.

Associated Risks

  • The rewards may be too high if fractals are exploited. (This problem can easily be hindered with daily timers on rewards)
  • Players who already have fractal weapons may feel betrayed or no longer special. (Simply put – they aren’t special; they are lucky. There should be no regret for Arenanet in creating an unlock system that rewards player skill and hard work, instead of just random luckiness. Regardless, the players that already have a fractal weapon should have it unlocked on their account to be withdrawn again whenever they please. There are still other rewards they can unlock with this system anyway.)

CDI- Fractal Evolution

in CDI

Posted by: Caveth.3268

Caveth.3268

Proposal Overview

The way agony and agony resistance works should be changed; it should stop scaling at a certain level and other things (like Mistlock Instabilities) should take over to make it challenging instead of a gear check. There should also be a way to gain account bound Agony Resistance (similar to the way Luck to Magic Find works).

Goal of Proposal

  • Make it easier to use multiple characters and to gain more agony resistance.
  • Make fractals based more on skill level than on gear checks.
  • Avoid the eventual fate of future high level fractals (like 100+) being a dungeon that takes hours to find a group for, if you ever find one.

Proposal Functionality

The Fractals of the Mists is heavily gated by the amount of Agony Resistance you have.

At higher level fractals, this means that you have to get your character fully outfitted in ascended armor/weapons/trinkets and infuse it; then, you need to get the agony resistance items and place them into the armor. This is a problem that makes it nearly impossible to use multiple characters in the Fractals at very high levels, because of the amount of things needed just to survive the agony alone.
Eventually, the amount of agony resistance may get higher with higher level fractals. It’s already hard to find groups for high level fractals, but eventually it will be nearly impossible with too high of agony resistance needed.

  • Proposal Part 1: I propose for there to be a way to earn account bound Agony Resistance that you earn simply by completing fractals, by spending fractal relics, or by getting consumable drops. It could work the same way as Luck works for Magic Find; it would likely have diminishing returns, but would at least help players get other characters into high level fractals.
  • Proposal Part 2: Additionally, agony should stop scaling at a certain point. The thing that should continue to scale is Mistlock Instabilities. At Fractal Level 100, the agony should reach its ultimate tier. Starting at Fractal Level 111 and each 10 levels after that, there will be an additional Mistlock Instability. Level 111-120 will have 2 instabilities; level 121-130 will have 3 instabilities, and so on.

This will make it so that skill is the main factor in the challenge rather than gear gating. It will also fix the problem where players just choose a certain level and just use it to level up because it has an easy instability; instead, there will be multiple instabilities that create unique challenges at every level and none will be truly “easy.”

Associated Risks

  • At really high fractal levels the Mistlock Instabilities may become too numerous and make it nearly impossible to continue.
  • The rewards associated with very high level fractals may not be worth it unless they’re reworked to match the incredible challenge associated with it.
  • The powerful instabilities may drive players to find exploits to beat fractals rather than trying to accomplish them normally.

Caveth.3268

The guy killed an Elder Dragon. The least Anet could do for him was to offer some vacation time.

HE did no such thing…zhaitan was brought down by a group of 5 random ppl throwing yellow confetti at him for 15mins.

But in relation to OP-this is another problem with this living story thing (which people who cry about ‘immersion-breaking’ race/faction change option ignore I might add -__-). Where exactly does it fall within the story? If you level a new toon now and hit lion’s arch you’ll see the destroyed architecture but everyone continues like there isn’t toxic miasma around (right down to the little kids playing as destiny’s edge). Also what about the order of whispers? Didn’t they pride themselves in knowing everything? Yet some plant caught them off-guard and their long time arch-nemesis, the Vigil didn’t even ridicule them? Although that contradicts what eventually happens in the story, it can be explained by saying only small groups still have animosity towards each other (similar to the rebel groups against the charr-human alliance).

I’ve learned to stop trying to role-play and immerse yourself in this role-playing game as you’ll just cause yourself frustration and confusion…in the meantime, here have some loot and be merry. I am of the firm believe it would have been better if they remembered this was a mmorpg-a persistent world shared by millions of players rather than trying to craft a single player game with co-op elements (story-wise).

The final fight with Zhaitan attached. (comic – spoilers)

If you see the crosses swords event at the camps, that means a defend even has already run and failed – you’ll have to succeed the recapture event before another defend event will start. If you are seeing it work out differently, let me know!
  • 5 – Rubble Piles will offer Found Heirlooms only once per day.
