Yes! Let me look cool as I die….not!
That’s not what I meant.
You would still retain the armour stats associated with your head gear. The glasses or the hat would simply replace it visually. It would be the same as choosing to hide your helmet in the hero panel.
Anet has been clear about their intentions since day one.
GW2 is a game based on skill, not time played. Just because you have more free time than someone else doesn’t entitle you to better gear.
That would be too big of an advantage given to the holder of a legendary weapon. You can bet if they implemented something like that even more people would start complaining that legendary weapons are too hard to get.
The weapons are not hard to get they just require time spent.
That’s the point…
If it was hard to get, but accessible to everyone, this wouldn’t be an issue.
The problem is that this isn’t the case. You acquire these items based solely on time played, and not everyone has the time to grind for 5 million hours to acquire these weapons. Therefore, they should not give any advantage to those that do have the time (because that would be unfair).
GW2 is a game based on player skill, not time played, and Anet has been very clear about this since day one.
they should also make upper/mid/lower head gear slots.
I find stupid that putting on glasses remove your hat.
Yes! A top hat AND sunglasses. Too awesome.
There is literally no drawback to having this option. Unless you consider more people using the gem store a drawback.
Nobody wants to look sexy?
It isn’t like you get some advantage from wearing this gear. Just add an option that let’s you replace your armour headgear (without sacrificing the stats) with stylistic headgear (similar to how you can hide armour headgear).
I guarantee that a lot more people would be willing to splurge on style gear if this option was made available (I know I would).
It would be too hard to balance that way.
If you want different skills, just pick a different weapon.
It is not the playerbases decition or opion to say it would be too hard to balance. This is the developers issue to reslove not the player base. Yes the players might have some insite but they are not solving the issue.
Just pick a different weapon… NO THANKS. I like 4 of 5 skills and just hate other weapons. Weapons are linked to multiple skills. Picking a differnt weapon bring you multiple new skills. You can’t just pick and chose what you like.
Options are a good thing!
But that isn’t the developer’s problem.
They’ve given each profession a variety of weapons/attunement/toolkits for a reason. If you get bored of one, you’re supposed to play another. There are more than enough skills to chose from.
You can’t just say “I only like the sword, so give me more sword skills”. You have more skills, but you have to be willing to use other weapons. That’s how the game was designed.
Slow progression is a good thing. What would not be a good thing is if the progression for you was caluculated slower then everyone else (and a good thing for you it is not). So this gives people something to achive if they want. Would you rather it be quick so you can cap out and thus not progress later? Probably not.
I played DAOC and RR13 (Realm Rank 13) took a long time to achive (I only got to RR 10). RR also gave awsome benifits (new set of skills to pick from). I was very glad that I was still making progress.
Using the numbers I provided, it would take 800-1200 hours just to reach rank 48 (my math could be wrong though, so correct me if it is). Isn’t that too steep?
It would literally take you years to get there, and that is just half way to the top!
I’m all for having goals, but not when they’re completely out of reach. I loved working towards prestige PvE gear back in GW1, but that didn’t take more than a few dozen hours.
I could understand if it took 300-400 hours to reach rank 80, but thousands of hours is way too much. There is no way GW2 (or any game) is captivating enough to keep me playing that long.

19k health and 2.1k armour is pretty glassy.
Don't see the point of the PvP gear in GW2, maybe I don't get the system?

I’m an FPS/RTS gamer and I couldn’t fathom playing a game that had gear progression. That has to be one of the dumbest ideas I’ve ever heard. No other game genre does it (and thankfully, GW2 doesn’t do it either). People should win in games based purely on skill, not hours played.
It would be too hard to balance that way.
If you want different skills, just pick a different weapon.
I’m currently rank 11 (almost 12) after about 30 hours of play time.
I typically earn about 150 glory (on average) from a single pickup game map. That is 600 glory for a full 4-map rotation. Assuming that every map takes 10-15 minutes to complete, we’re looking at 40-60 minutes to earn 600 glory.
This is fine at the lower levels, but already when you hit rank 9-18, that means 4-7 hours of grind per level (as you need 4000 glory to level up).
At rank 30-48 (where you need a whopping 45,000 glory just to move up a single level), it would mean playing through 75 full map rotations (or 50-75 hours) just to go up one level.
Does no one else feel this is a little absurd? At this rate, I can see maybe 1% of the player base hitting rank 80. The vast majority of players will give up long before that. I think that if you want to maintain player interest in the game, you should give them attainable goals. I understand needing to work for something, but this ranking system requires you to do nothing but grind for thousands of hours.
Yes, I understand that it’s just for cosmetics. My point is that people will continue to play a game “just for cosmetics”, but those goals need to be within reasonable reach for them to do so.
Also, someone correct me if my math is wrong (I’m not good with numbers).

I’ve been advocating for this as well.
The current downed states are completely unbalanced. You’ve got thieves and mesmers on one end of the spectrum who can keep teleporting around indefinitely and then you’ve got elementalists who can’t do anything while downed.
Every class should have the same skills. It doesn’t make sense that a thief can avoid being stomped multiple times, while a warrior or guardian (for example) can only do it once.
The cannon on “Raid of the Capricorn” seems to glitch for no reason sometimes.
The aiming reticle turns red sometimes (saying “out of range” even though it clearly isn’t) when pointed anywhere on the left side of the map (towards the “dock” capture point with the ship delineating the middle of the map).
This has happened quite a few times.
I never knew treb camping was so effective. Will have to try this. :P
About to hit 11 (I think I’ve played about 20-25 hours of PvP).
It’s taking soooooo long.
Glory gain feels very slow to me (I usually average ~150 for a PUG and ~250 for a tourny match).
Well, then im in a bit trouble as i like sPvP and WvW. This combination is probably not the best to chose
I’m in the same boat.
I don’t play PvE at all, so I’m at a pretty large disadvantage going into WvW at a low level.
Private servers and spectator mode are what I want to see added first.
Warriors are a melee class, foremost. The Warrior has two ranged options: rifle and bow. Rifles have low base damage and some rather poor utility. The #1 slot is a basic attack that does nothing but damage+bleed, #2 is a cripple, #3 is another basic attack with no utility, although it’s the rifle’s primary source of damage but easy to dodge when it starts, #4 is low damage and adds some vulnerability (5), which may get you 10-15 more damage a hit on average, and #5 is a short range knockback.
WRONG!
Warrior is arguably the most effective ranged profession in the game. Ranged warrior is actually the only warrior build I play right now.
The #2 skill coupled with “Leg Specialist” is deadly (even without it, a 6s cripple is an amazing skill).
Volley hits for fairly high damage. Every attack can be dodged, you just need to learn to use control skills.
The #5 skill is a “short” knockback? LOL? It has a range of 450, nearly twice that of “Kick”.
