How horrible am I going to die in PvP with this build.

I just spent like 40g on my ’Berserker’s’ armory and now it’s looking like a huge mistake.

I’ve been reading the forums a lot and by the sound of it I’m going to get thrashed in PvP. High damage warriors aren’t viable in PvP (So I’ve heard over and over.)

As I said, I’ve got full exotic Berserker’s armor, putting me at roughly 2.2k Power, 55% base crit chance with 105% crit damage. My toughness is just a hair above 1k. My armor is roughly 2.1k. I have 19.5k Health.

I use a greatsword and dual axes (Likely to change one of these.)

My skills are Mending, Dolyak Signet, Frenzy, Endure Pain, and Signet of Rage.

My traits are 10/30/0/0/30. I used to have 10 in Defense for Sure Footed, but it doesn’t work, so I switched to Strength for the bonus health.

I guess my reason for posting this is to find out if I can salvage a build using this gear and be viable. Would I be able to switch my traits around to become more durable, and still maintain high damage? If so how? What skills should I dump in favor of what other skills?

It seems that the only defensive ability you have is endure pain. That’s just not enough.
I generally can’t understand how people can stand being so soft and squishy. In WvW you will die to aoe attacks constantly and therefore be a complete waste of space.
Furthermore, the build is overused and therefore also extremely predictable. If you want to be an offensive, but extremely squishy warrior, go ranged.

Dual Swords/Rifle Cond. Build?

Why would you roll a human female if you can’t stand the noises she’s making?

Hammer PvP? Really???

in Warrior

Chipster.6713

I go sword/shield + hammer. Sword is for mobility and bleeds.
My usual tactic is this: Shield bash -> switch to hammer and 5, 4 , F1, 2.
Pull that combo off any squishy and they won’t touch you the rest of the match. Get the 15% stun duration on your hammer and remember that you deal more damage to stunned opponents.
This isn’t hurr durr faceroll like the greatsword and you won’t deal as much damage. But you’ll be able to handle a lot more situations and controlling your opponent. The best part is that I rarely die when I’m using this setup.

The tricks is to run with sword’n’shield. The leap and cripple are just amazing to closing the cap and they rarely expect you to pull out a hammer after the shield bash.

Are Charr Really Atheist?

I quote:“Atheism is the denial that gods or higher powers exist”
What do you mean denial? If I’d say: “people who believe in religion are in denial that they believe in something fictive”, would you be offended by that?

So what would the 2H Axe skills look like?

F1: Thief killer. Instantly slays any thief profession, destroying all of their armor in the process
Adrenaline Stage 1: Force a disconnect to all live streamers who play thief
Adrenaline Stage 2: Clear all forum posts on the thief forum
Adrenaline Stage 3: No thief on any server can stealth for 10 minutes.

Just kidding In all seriousness I like your idea. What do you think would be reasonable cooldowns to those skills?

Like ^ said, sword/axe or greatsword. You want the mobs to die fast.
Make sure you have a rifle on switch. That weapon has saved my behind so many times

Shield on a charr. It's floating..

Chipster.6713

When I have a shield equipped and it’s on my back, there’s a HUGE gap between my back and my shield, so it’s basically floating. It’s not only very noticeable when I’m looking at him from the side, it’s also when he runs on 4 legs, which he does most of the time.
I’m normally not petty with a lot of things, but this one really irritates me. At least they could close the gap a little bit, so that it’s not hanging that far away from my charr’s back.

It takes just as little skill to counter a thief. Blind or a slow+dodge roll away would counter the signet backstab burst. The key to stopping a BS thief is to dodge the initial burst and then kite him at <400 range with a constant cripple. No real way to close that gap, unless he wants to HS spam nothing, or risk using Shadowstep only to get knockdowned/stunned after using the ability.

Considering he’s an engineer Smoke Bomb from the Bomb kite is a pulsing AoE blind. Toss that down and you won’t take any damage. Toss down a cripple, and you’re kitting the thief easily with swift+vigor.

Pressure always makes you play hectic. This is most likely a case of shock at the burst + old man panic under the pressure.

He’d be dead before he could even cast that elixir..

In which order would you place each profession atm?

in PvP

Posted by: Chipster.6713

Chipster.6713

People know 1 or 2 specs for each profession, because they saw them on youtube. If they started toying with things by themselves, they would see a lot more potential in each profession.
This is just bogus. Most people have no idea what all professions are capable to do. When you say Warrior, they think “GS hurr hurr”, when you say Thief, they think “omg heartseeker spam”.

I would make the list like this:
1. Players who know how to combine Professions into a great combination and knows that the game is about teamplay.
2. Players who constantly think of how to improve their profession and learn what it is truly capable off.
3. Players who copy > paste a spec they saw somewhere else and think that they instantly become good players by doing so.

Why do we have such weak downed skills?

in Warrior

Chipster.6713

you kidding me? warrior has vengeance, best skill ever. You can get the sweet vengeance trait and it is totally game changing

warrior downed skills are top tier unlike the class itself lol, the single target KD may be a bit weak but veng + sweet veng makes up for it

Please tell me which class will you kill within the 15 seconds. Apart from a ranger or a necromancer and I still have doubts about the former.

Will you kill a mesmer?
Will you kill a thief?
Will you kill a guardian?
Will you kill an elementalist?

The thief and mesmer can buy 5-7 seconds only when they are downed, let alone when they are alive.

Game changing, sure, when you play against dummies. Or against an engineer I guess. And I’m fairly certain I’ve seen an absolute zero of them so far in spvp.

Now, let’s talk about group battles. There you have plenty of chances to get a kill if you use vengeance and fast kill someone who’s on low hp. I’ve done it lots of times.

The absolute worst downed skills in the game are the ones elementalists have

What poizie said. Hammer is really awesome against thieves, since you can keep them locked down while you beat the :::: out of them They usually initiate with huge burst and you should use ignore pain/shield block while they are doing so.

Hey nice build. I’ve tried working with a sword bleed spec, but could never get it to work.
What do you think of switching the 5% damage signet in your sword with a 10% cripple duration? Seems to fit this build.

Btw tried it out today. The damage is simply amazing. I’m roaming with a thief friend of mine and we’re demolishing everything we face I do miss ignore pain though

Help me with my trait points!

in Warrior

Posted by: Chipster.6713

Chipster.6713

You won’t be getting the shout heal for a while, but try to go to Mists. There you can tinker around with your spec all you want to get an idea for what you want to do.
As you just said, banners, heals, defensive.
30 points in tactics causes your shouts to heal, put some in defense and tinker around with the rest of the points There is no “This is the only right spec to use”. I have every confidence in that you will learn which traits/abilities that suits you the most

Warrior class is poorly designed and forces you into specific specs/stats to be relevant.

Your lvl 36 elementalist does not crit for 2k autoattack. That’s just bull….

Warriors are boring... You cannot disagree...

in Warrior

Chipster.6713

Actually, we can disagree.

I play a Sword/Axe – Longbow Warrior and I love it. It’s not boring to me at all.

Warriors are easy to pick up and play, but that’s just how they are. There’s nothing wrong with ‘easy to pick up, difficult to master’.

Also, Greatsword and Rifle aren’t the only good weapons out there, you just have to know how to use the other weapons… -_-

You clearly havnt tried pvp then.

Also, the warrior is easy to pickup, and theres not really much to master about the warrior, thats the problem… its too easy..

PvE, WvW and sPvP.

You can wreck people with Swords, Shields, Hammers, Maces, etc. The only weapon I have trouble with is the Warhorn.

I’d say that the Warrior and Ranger have a very similar skill ceiling. It’s not easy to become perfect at playing a Warrior or Ranger, but it’s not as difficult as, say, a Mesmer.

I agree with you on the warrior and ranger part, but LOL at the mesmer part. Have you tried one? It’s not harder than any other class. I’d say it’s even easier. Especially in PvP.
I’ve tried all classes and the only one that requires constant focus is elementalist. But that’s just because they have to work 5x times as hard, only to produce 1/3 of the warrior’s damage.

how am I getting aggro if my dps is so bad

Underpowered Traits and Skills

Lets face it the thief has the weakest downed state in the game

I stopped reading there because it simply isn’t true. Elementalists have the absolute weakest downed state. There’s no way to interrupt finishers and the 3rd downed skill is simply a worse version of thieves’ 2nd downed skill.

New players avoid Elementalist.

Chipster.6713

I’m split between the “the class is good, the class is bad” part. Sometimes I struggle a lot more than should be needed to, other times I feel like I’m wiping everything out with little effort. Depends a lot on the mob type and how tired I am, I guess.. and the players I meet in sPvP.
I do agree with OP that new players to the MMO genre might have more trouble with elementalists than with other classes. But mostly because of the quick element swapping that is required. Without my multi button mouse, I would never have even considered this class.

Why the Elementalist is Underpowered

in Elementalist

Posted by: Chipster.6713

Chipster.6713

I don’t think that Churning Earth is bad. There’s nothing I love more than just run into a heat of battle, channel it and watch it crit for 6k thus clearing all enemy illusions, roots etc. Especially in tight spots like “hence” and “mine” it’s just perfect and one of my favourite skills in the game.

As for mist form, it doesn’t say anything about clearing conditions. It’s a very strong skill for PvP. More than that actually, it’s the one skill I could never change on my PvP bar.

If I should find something that clarifies Elementalists as underpowered, it’s the water skills. I barely ever use them, the heals are so tiny and the damage is not worth noticing. If it wasn’t for the chills I would never use water.
