What's the Revenant Race gonna be?

Charr as well would be my guess, based on the fact that Rytlock is the “first known” Revenant and that he is a Charr.

Coincidentally Charr is also one of the ones that doesn’t have two classes on the screen already. Making the other likely option Asura… Somehow I don’t really feel that combo.

I’m hoping for some weapons without a “sheathed” model, but rather, that get summoned out of thin air when you draw them, with wicked effects for putting them away and calling them of course ^.~

Even so i’m more hoping for legendary armour pieces that will give your character effects like Liadri, or some more subtle ones, assuming you can dye em….

Now I feel like designing one of each weapon… nuh.. dont >.< too many achieves yet to get.

if you can’t see them while they’re sheathed, it would create an advantage in wvw and pvp where you won’t know what build your opponent is probably running based on their weapons

Not nessecarily, youd still have a footfall and or other effect that could persist. Which is often far more obnioxiously obvious than… well the weapon itself.’

For instance: I recognize Kudzu by the footfall LONG before I notice the weapon

Revenant Race-Specific Skills

I don’t think Sylvari would get Glint. They’re more likely to get Ventari, Ronan or, more far-fetched, one of the firstborn that is already “out of the running”. And then Ventari would be more likely… Since I distinctly remember Ronan as… unimpressive.

That is of course, assuming Rev’s don’t just get to skill swap for racials, which would be a lot easier to realize than essentially doubling/adding 33% to the amount of work they’d need to put in the class, due to having to balance all the skills, coming up with them, making assets etc. Thus more likely.

Also, it might make picking a certain race too important.

None the less, I do like the idea.

I have the exact same issue. I am signed in to the regular news letter and have received those in the past.

I have tried to sign up to receive a confirmation letter on several separate occasions on 3 different browsers, (Chrome, FF and in a desperate grab IE). I have considered it might be because my email is doesnt have one of the most popular @somethingorothers but that doesnt really make sense as it should give an error if the email is considered invalid… Unsupported scripts should be ruled out over the different browsers I tried.

Can’t really imagine it’s anything but a server side thing, perhaps a conflict with our current signups to the regular newsletter (I dare blatantly presume these are separate newsletters… some people don’t enjoy “keeping posted” as it taints their view going into an expansion.) Even so I hope this issue will be resolved soon.

Most definitely my favorite minigame so far. Even as a ghost I don’t get bored since i figured out how best to handle it (karka arent as good as they seem) and I don’t have to worry about people banding in groups as everyone is everyone’s opponent. The commentary can make me grin like a charr even when I’m having a bad game. By far my top vote for best minigame so far =)

Actually I think it will provide more insight into the “steam” creatures.

Still want Abaddon more.

#AbaddonWillFeastOnYourEyes

Insight into steam creatures is given in one of the asura backstories =) they dont have much to do with thaumanova at all, but ill leave it to you to roll an infinity ball Asura =)

I prefer to have adventures that center around the truly epic threats, rather than be sidetracked by missions that deal with cleaning up political messes and investigating corruption in the political system. Seriously, we get enough of the latter in real life and not enough of the former. I don’t need to see art mirroring life in my game too.

You’ll get plenty of both regardless of who wins, including the political ones. We know hardly anything of Magnus but that’s who put Kiel forward. how much has truly been epic the last year? With Kiel constantly telling us to solve her issues? It will be no different. Now Evon is the kind that is likely to cause real epic issues say, by importing a box of corrupted Istani Djinns. Remember what a pain they were without being corrupt on top? Yeah… chuckle Besides, whoever wins is like 1 in what.. 10? votes on the counsel? Actually might as well vote Kiel so she’ll be too busy to be in our way and bore us to death. Leave Evon to make worse trouble for lack of occupation besides striking shady deals =)

I disagree. With Kiel at the helm our upcoming adventures are likely to focus on external threats. She’s a soldier, and her eye (and stories) will be aimed at real targets and larger threats, rather than self-made ones.

With Gnashblade, there’s no doubt in my mind that story (and our time, and development time) is going to be “wasted” on his political ambition and schemes. What do I care of the Black Lion Trading Company and its interests? I had enough of that type of “adventure” with Minister Caudecus.. which, frankly, really wasn’t all that exciting the first time around.

As for Magnus the Bloody-Handed.. I disagree about hardly knowing anything about him. Then again, I’ve been following the novels. If you haven’t then he might seem like a stranger to you.

I have, in fact, read edge of destiny, but it seems to me he had ample reason to act nice and amiable. Don’t presume you know a person off one account. Also, you don’t have to do what someone tells you, unless you’re a sucker for achievements, like me. We all understand that Evon wants to infiltrate the counsel for his legion. Now, I can’t pretend to know Malice Swordshadow but the Ash way is, to me, the most appealing way =)

Alright. So far this is the only way todo it.. Although if you make a mistake, you’re dead.

I’ve done this as a guardian berserker build, using my scepter mostly.

Thanks to this guy for showing me a good way to solo it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ETCj0Tsj1AI

-1 not sure all classes can stunlock and 2 shot mobs at the same time….

they can’t. I’ve spent close to a day trying T4 yesterday and had another few attempts today. (phantasm mesmer (zerker) and steal(th) thief (zerker), not buying another set of gear on my other 80s just to have a weak shot at it)

My reason for voting for Evon is simple; He makes me smile, with his witty/snide comments and his nigh-on sadistic ways (popping Karka on a bunch of people he crammed onto an island? oii!). Kiel is too… formal and doesn’t really tug any of my heartstrings. Getting that guy on the counsel will ensure chaos =)

Because voting for politicians who put themselves ahead of the people they represent has been working out so well for us in real life. I know when I look towards Congress, I’m thinking “Wheee! Fun stuff!”.

Let’s get some of that into our gaming too!

Ok, maybe not.

Actually, issues and puzzles to solve are exactly what you want in your gaming experience ^^ It would be very boring if you logged in one day and found Kiel had solved all your problems for you, save the one where there’s still 5 dragons. But you need to wait at least another year for that expansion to come out.

Besides, there’s a difference between Charr morality and Human morality. Evon might think of his own benefits first, but I doubt he’d actually do much to kill off his customers. It would ruin his business.

My main issue with it is that it isn’t hard its punishing in that one mistake, or even no mistakes, can cost you all. It is too much, too random. There doesn’t really seem to be a strategy or timing that one can learn to make for a sure win. The veterans are too tough to take down in the 30 seconds between runners and their health scales up too rapidly to justify taking multiple characters. Leaving you with an army of unbeatable, ever stunning, ever confusing, ever disabling mobs. There comes a point where there’s so many conditions you might as well just take your hands off the keyboard and just die.

There are several ways in which this can be adjusted to be made doable. I just hope it will actually be picked up upon.

Honestly I could care less which fractal comes out of it. both are interesting and I like to imagine research on whichever fractal will somehow influence the world. For instance, we might find out the thaumanova reactor still isn’t safe, or Evon might catch a hint about margonite ships and suddenly we’ll be sailing all over the place with exploding reactors and/or crazy ships that can get us places we haven’t gone before.

We might not get both fractals, but in the end, we can always read about what we don’t get.

Those Little Things

A few days ago I got the silly idea to try and complete the drinking achievement. I went to an NPC and purchased 2000 drinks, one by one and realized this was actually quite odd. It was almost the equivalent of walking into a store, grabbing a keg of the shopkeepers finest ale and saying “this one” only to pay, turn around and repeat the process about 1999 more times. Now, one can imagine this quickly becomes tedious, so I did it while reading the forums, laughing at the Evon vs. Kiel conversations. Then I drank the beers one by one, while reading, but this made much more sense. I cant drink 20 beers at once, but the question is;
Why Can’t I purchase multitudes at once?

That’s right, purchasing multiple items at once is a simple, but big miss. I have 7 ways of accidentally linking what I’m buying, but I cant buy multiples?

The same goes for voting, I have to cram slim pieces of paper through a hole one-by-one, having saved up 250 and spend perhaps 2 minutes clicking while I hope my mouse doesn’t break again. The slit in the box however, appears plenty big to take perhaps a stack of 25 or even 50 of the slips at once.
Why can’t I just turn in multiples of items like these?

It would be so much less tedious if I could.

Now of course, such simple misses get a ball rolling when pointed out, and it didn’t take me long to find out a few more sneaky things-people-miss about this game I’ve scarcely heard bad comments about before. It started with guild missions, really hard to manage at the moment due to several of these little misses that make leading a large group difficult unless you have, at some point, splurged 100G on a commander’s tome, and even then isn’t easy. Let’s assume someone who has no commander’s tome.

-They have to have trustworthy, competent people running the second, third, fourth or even fifth group, people that wont leave anyone behind and that clearly communicate when something is amiss
-They have to know, of each member, whether they are actually at their desk. One person neglecting to read the chat can stall a whole “raid” for a long time.

These are problems, but they have simple solutions;
-Them buying a commander tome, or a larger form of group that doesn’t come with a symbol over your head would solve problem 1. There would be 1 communications channel that linked all members of said group.
-A ready check command would solve problem 2. Yes, slightly immersion breaking perhaps, but quite needed when trying to oversee a large group of people.

Why is there no larger group type?
It could be a research, something you could invest some of those points slowly building up on. No symbols, no big flaring peakitten to draw half a map to your position to potentially even ruin your guild’s experience. Just a larger group, and a channel.

Why is there no ready check?
It seems such a simple thing to have, just a way so people that don’t understand your language know exactly what you want to know, or as a check on large groups, it is just really useful.

Of course, I met more people, telling me of those little things they missed, and I shall write the things that stuck with me here.

One person told me of the lack of officer chat. Now, I don’t hold any such rank, but I find from previous things that such a tool is nigh-on a necessity to be able to quickly consult all your officers in a large guild.
Why is there no officer chat?

A tool that is oh so important when it comes to quickly deciding whether to give that long time troublemaker a firm boot under the behind among other things.

This of course led to the lack of being able to make a personal channel, other then a guild, that you can always see. A channel for instance you could call “Fractals40+Club” and invite all people that you know do level 40+ fractals, so that you can easily invite people you know already are good players. Or call “WorldEvents” where people call out any big events that are starting (Yes, sites do this, but it involves a second screen or tabbing around a lot, though I have a second screen, not everyone does and to them it’s quite an annoyance as I perceive.
Why cant we make channels that, unlike another guild, are always visible?

As you can see above, there are quite a few things such a thing could be good for. If there are worries too many channels would be made, you could, perhaps add a “communications master” type NPC that lists all existent channels, so people know what already exists, and charges a few silver coins to create a channel. Perhaps on the condition that you must pay another silver each month to keep it. This so that unused channels don’t need to remain in any database beyond their use. Channels could be open or have a password so that people can join them with restrictions.

I’m sure there are more such small misses, and feel free to append this thread if you found one of these little comforts or simplifications you miss =)
