That would have been back in the day of the Queensdale champ train and so people were obsessing over getting level 80 loot from all their champ boar kills. With the train nerfed these areas are mainly populated by lower level toons and no 80s whatsoever, so that request doesn’t even have much effect on the game anymore. World boss event participation has plummeted with the HoT release and most 80s are only in new regions or SW. My point is that I think it would greatly help the current mess of leather and cloth prices on the economy if the drop rates of these lower level items would be increased. Damask patches have royally skewed the numbers.
This is a song I will never stop singing.
I’m tired of having boy-band male humans and crappy customization options, but nothing will be done.
@mtpelion
I didn’t realize I could get a combination of level 80 drops and lower level drops in a lower level region, so that is good at least. Overall though, the number of times I salvage thick leather, silk, or leather from these regions is still staggering, so I’d say this “combination” is still pretty low. I don’t have a problem with these lower level mats having value in crafting of ascended gear, but the problem is that the supply doesn’t match the demand in the game and so these prices are skyrocketing. I realize a ton of money is made by flipping on the TP, but preserving the ability of some to flip for a profit shouldn’t be the basis for having ridiculously low drops/ability to procure an item in game. There are plenty of other things to flip. One cured thin leather square shouldn’t cost 13s79c on the TP:

Removing the SKIN restriction between professions for armor (maybe weapons too) would massively increase the customization and overall customer satisfaction of the gw2 playerbase.
Too true. The lack of current customization is depressing. But, as usual, ANet will do nothing because of “clipping issues”. They still haven’t even fixed the broken monk outfit. I’m becoming very disillusioned about them every increasing customization options for armor.
Second this. Leather mats are ridiculously overpriced right now and there’s almost no way to get them in-game short of wasting a character slot on a perpetually level 40 toon who will be used expressly to open chests and salvage.
Something needs to change.
So I’ve noticed that ever since maxing all my toons to 80, all I ever salvage from anything ever is … mithril, thick leather, and silk. I suppose rarely I’ll get an orichalcum or ancient log. In a game where I need tons of lower level mats to make ascended gear or legendaries, this is incredibly frustrating. Even when I play in lower level regions, say 40-55 or something, all I loot is level 80 gear and (wait for it), that salvages into just mithril, thick leather, and silk.
This has been an issue for as long as I can remember, and nothing has been done about it. I shouldn’t have to waste a character slot on a perpetually level 40 toon just so I can loot/salvage lower level gear.
Please ANet, do something about this. I’ve got a few ideas to change it, but if anyone has others please post them. I’d really like this to change.
-Low level regions drop loot within their stated level range, regardless of character level (world bosses will still only drop level 80 gear as the only exception to this)
-Decrease the number of lower level mats required to make damask/elonian leather, etc.
-Fractal items can drop at any item level (ascended drops would still obviously be 80)
-Have merchs in game who set a going rate for certain mats (e.g. merch sells linen scrap at max price of 2 silver or whatever) – this might kill the TP for that mat but at least it would clean the inflation of it
Or something. I’d really like to finally salvage something other than mithril, thick leather, and silk.
Oh my gosh I logged in just to tag this. I completely agree. Bring back resurrection booths from GW1! Accessible only to the dead, if you’re alive you pay for a WP. Problems solved.
Not to forget that the Destiny´s Edge group consist of an official traitor and turncoat, a mad smurf scientist, an isolationist with a family problem, a hotheaded xenophobic kitty and a naive salad traitor girl.
I would not trust one of them to get my laundry, not to speak of a makeshift army.
That’s all fine and true, but I have legitimately never hated an NPC as much as I hate Trahearne. I know I don’t speak for everyone, but I loved feeling as if I was actually accomplishing huge things in the game (such as in GW1, when the player is the one who “saves the world”), rather than just sitting in the back watching some NPC I hate get all the awesome rewards (Caladblog) and credit. At this point, I know ANet isn’t going to suddenly make my character the center of attention (even though that would be cool), but I would gladly settle for a new NPC to take the place of Trahearne, who I want nothing more than to see turn traitorous Mordremoth minion and die. Knock on wood, but I don’t think ANet could make a replacement NPC for him that I would end up hating more than I already hate Trahearne right now.
Oh thank God. I was living in fear of STILL not being able to have guild hall.
I heard a rumor on the forum (don’t remember which thread), that there would be a minimum guild member requirement for guilds to create their own guild hall. Can anyone tell me if this is true or not?
I sincerely hope not, as I am a member of a small person (9 total) guild 0.0
Thanks!
I mean this isn’t something like one race gets magic bonus, another gets archery ect meaning if you go X class you must go Y race or be kitten, even if its a slight kitten .
This is more along the lines of what I meant. I don’t know if any of you have tried TERA (I did for a very short amount of time), and one of the (only) things I really liked in that game was how they gave each race a buff that didn’t screw over the other races. This is a link to some of their “race buff” examples.
http://tera.wikia.com/wiki/Racial_skills
Some of these would be bad (less stun damage, etc.) but others would be nice. Maybe free tele to racial capital, faster gathering based on race, less falling damage, etc. I was thinking more along the lines of buffs rather than skills
So I know we already have six racial skills to choose from based on our toon’s background, but I still feel a little robbed of the culture my toons should be wielding. Is there any chance we could get some nice racial buffs in HoTs or a future patch? It couldn’t be anything crazy that would ruin game balance and force everyone to play one race over the other, but I think it would be awesome to have a constant, passive effect based on your character’s race.
Maybe something like:
Sylvari – red insects/plant mobs (excluding Mordrem/events) are turned yellow
Norn – permanent speed boost in all Shiverpeak territories
and so on. Just nice, little buffs that remind you your race is different from the others.
It probably would be a lot of work, but if they’ve managed to do it with guild emblem design (as mentioned above) I feel they could do it with this too. Including strict parameters for submissions would also help weed out less serious submissions.
Yes please!
There was the guild emblem design contest not too long ago (results are coming in soon)- so A-net are up for player designed stuff.
I think I remember seeing that somewhere and I love that they seem to be – so please, please, please, ANet, let us throw some fun designs at you! =)
Not to mention they changed the appearance after players had bought it, causing it to look like a bell after the fact

So what’s the big deal with this extremely underwhelming lvl1 armor looking armor skin anyway? This was one of the most basic crap armors as monk in gw1, so why do ppl bother here. It looks kitten even if they fix every bit of it. Also, the females had pants.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Gallery_of_female_monk_Labyrinthine_armor
actually it’s based on the Elite Woven armor.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/File:Monk_Elite_Woven_armor_f.jpg
Yeah. I worked mad hard to get that elite armor in GW1 – and I was looking forward to it in GW2 when I saw the data mine. Then I realized it was just another costume. And then I saw how their patches screwed over my guildy, and how they still haven’t fixed it. Plenty of reason for people to be upset.
I think it’d be cool. I’d definitely like to see other things done first (Monk’s Outfit fix, etc.), but it would be nice to have backpieces included in the select screen, seeing as they are part of the toon’s gear and appearance.
I’m just going to bump this thread because it would mean a ton to me to see ANet respond/incorporate this into this game. It is way too annoying to swap builds right now.
This has long been a sore point of mine, and it’s only been made even sorer with the Monk’s Outfit. I can’t believe that players paid gems for something “top-of-the-line” in terms of appearance, that that purchase was bugged on races, then altered in appearance, altered again, and is still ultimately far worse looking than the original. I sort of hate ANet’s entire costume idea. It’s a lazy escape from releasing armor skins in game, and the worst part is, they aren’t even delivering quality work for the price of gems.
Open world currently is a joke. At level 80, all it is really, is an impediment for getting to dungeons and world bosses. Most players run by at maximum speed ignoring everything around them. Every monster is bypassed, most stories completely ignored. It is completely non-immersive.
This is way too true, and I agree on all points. A separate “Level 80” world map would be great, and there’s so much potential. A separate Cursed Shore anyone? I remember Trahearne telling me some lie about how Orr was going to be remade in one of those final story episodes and I remember being mad excited, and then there was no change. I think it would be amazing for maps in the world to be altered for you and other players that have completed personal stories/reached level 80. It would actually make me want to do my personal story and finally add something somewhat “end-game” for level 80s.
So I’m just remembering all the great skins present in GW1. I think it would be awesome to bring back something like that for GW2! A ton of great designs got submitted by players, and some beautiful weapons were made from them (the draconic aegis and the froggy scepter just to name two). Especially with HOTs on the horizon, I think this would be a great way to amp up even more excitement for the game, as well as bring in some fresh skins!
And who knows, I could be getting ahead of myself, but I think a Design-An-Armor-Set contest could be even better ^.^
I could definitely go for some more customization options as well. I know it probably won’t happen, but clean slate faces with no makeup and a separate tab for makeup customization would be great Some time I love a face and the sliders I can work with on it, but the make up is just awful.
I’m just remembering how great some other MMOs did it – Aion’s character creation for example.

It’s interesting and I’d love to know the answer but I’m afraid ANet will never revisit UW/FoW due to the inclusion of new playable races (norn, charr, sylvari, etc.) and the difficulty of all these colliding gods.
Thank you all for the posts – they were informative and more helpful than the reply I got to the ticket To clarify again, I do understand why ANet can’t get involved in guild issues, I was upset because the responses I got seemed to be pretty generic and made me feel as if they hadn’t fully read the ticket. That aside, I do appreciate the advice you’ve all given. It was for personal and sentimental reasons we wanted the tag/guild name back, I didn’t realize it was possible to change guild tags? I’ll look into that more in-game. I opened the thread mainly to see if there were any other in-game options open to me that I had missed.
Thanks again for all the feedback!
Why don't you add character voice variants?

Honestly, I’d be fine with either one. I don’t care if they hire a new VA or just make a pitch slider. Just please do something, ANet.

I’m tired of my female norn sounding like some sort of angry cave troll – especially with the groaning when she falls. Give me just one extra voice option for each gender/race and I’ll be happy.
I second this. Even just a second voice option for each race and its two genders would be great. Set it at 400 gems and I’d buy it. Two new voice options for each gender and you can just take my money, ANet.
Shoot. Well thanks for the update on outfits VS armor skins. Guess I’ll just keep my fingers crossed for unique pieces in HoTs -_-
I want to start by saying I love this game and appreciate all the work that’s gone into it, but I’m getting really upset with the perpetual flood of costumes in the gem store. If any devs read this, I do love the costume visuals they’re coming up with … but that’s where it ends. The Exemplar costume is beautiful, I love the throwback to Elite Kurzick Mesmer armor from GW1. I love the monk costume. But why does it have to be a costume? I don’t want to spend my gems on a cheap overlay. Why can’t it be an armor skin that I can pick parts from to wear? When we buy a costume and have to throw on the whole thing and look exactly the same it loses the individuality and the customization of the game. I realize it requires more time to mesh individual skins to prevent clipping. I’d be willing to pay extra gems to have an ARMOR SKIN option for Exemplar and Monk costumes, I really would. I’m done buying costumes, being happy fo 30 seconds, and then seeing someone else in the exact same thing. Please give more armor skin varieties in the gem store. If I’m spending real money (or game earned gold), I want it to be worth it. I, and a lot of my friends in game, have decided not to buy anything else from the gem store until there’s a change. I really believe making costumes individual skin pieces would be a step forward for guild wars in ending the monotony of current in game skins.
Honestly I’m upset by these birthday gifts too. I realize there’s a lot going on with HoT coming out soon, but it can’t be that difficult to just come up with some variation in presents. GW1 birthday presents were perfect, I would welcome ANet even just copying the same idea. Please stop with the Mini Jenna. Please stop with level 20 scrolls that don’t stack. Just give me a random, trading post sell-able mini and I’ll be happy.
Yeah seriously. Why is this not available to players?
I know I’m not alone in being frustrated with the new trend of ANet releasing select armor skins only in the gem store or, even worse, making gemstore outfits the new trend to replace creative, piece-by-piece armor skins altogether. The Silverwastes was a nice change with the addition of a new armor set, and I’m more than happy with it only being available to those who finish the quests and the living story. This is a nice step to take away from outfits, and I hope ANet sticks with it. Piece by piece armor provides variation and custom appearances that outfits can’t.
What I don’t see them changing is the creativity of the armor. I’m sick of any medium armor character being stuck in a trenchcoat and pants, regardless of gender (with possibly one or two very costly Tier 2 or 3 Racial Armor exceptions). Where did the variety of GW1 go? Even if ANet can’t find the time to think of new concepts, I’d at least settle for a re-hash of the old. The Elite Kurzick and Vabbian female mesmer armor sets (Elite Kurz: “http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/File:Mesmer_Elite_Kurzick_armor_f.jpg”, Vabbian: “wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Mesmer_Vabbian_armor”) were always favorites of mine, and rangers in GW1 could actually choose if they wanted pants, a skirt, or a trenchcoat (“http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Ranger_armor”).
I’m tired of my characters looking like leather blobs and, it might sound petty, but I’m tired of ugly armor pieces too. I know ANet can do better. I’ve seen it in GW1. Why can’t they step up the game, or at least match it, in GW2?
I’m new to the necro profession, as the GW2 necro is very different from the GW1 necro I’m used to. Does anyone have any good, stand-alone necro builds? I’m tired of the Hover in the Back with a Staff While the Group Does the Work technique.
So far, I’ve been running Staff/Scepter+Dagger and focusing on Condi armor
