This is a strong build, but that doesn’t mean the class as a whole is balanced. Most other builds are very underwhelming, with poor trait and trait line design to blame.

Can we remove the ability for these two to not go through the portals when they use there skill Mist form/The warrior one to rally him for like 15secs? I don’t how many times they get away when were near a tower or the citadel. The warrior one is not as bad b/c we can cripple them or even still kill them.

Downed or not, regardless of class, your enemy will always have the advantage fighting near their own towers. This isn’t spvp where everything is a level playing field.

What’s the difference between every other class (cept rangers that pew pew from the top) that can troll fight around their gates, then cheeze through their portal to heal? Just because ele and warrior can do it when downed doesn’t give them any significant advantage.

Keep in mind that glass cannon staff ele in wvw has a lot to do with your positioning , and when to move forward or fall back. Of cource you’ll be a juicy target if you roam alone.

I’ve died less built full zerk w/staff than a d/d bunker build, because you had to play smart. d/d can afford more wrecklessness :p (and more fun)

Alt -F4 FotM?

If a player uses a utility skill to stomp, that’s at their discretion and part of the game.

Alt+f4ing to escape being defeated is not part of the game.

Logout timer fixes this issue.

I’m sorry, please don’t try to play the L2P card. I can dodge every lightning ball and bolt. I can even come at you from behind when you don’t notice me, have complete control of the fight, stun you in between attacks, and still lose.

The problems:

1) DPS is significantly reduced against you.
2) Your HP regenerates rapidly.
3) Your DPS is on par with a glass cannon Mesmer.
4) Your mobility is second only to Thief.
5) Your sustainability is greater than a Necromancer..

All of these features combined makes the build too strong and too popular in WvW.

Sorry, your posts clearly indicate this is a l2p issue.

You’ve gotten replies explaining why your reasoning is narrow-minded, but you refuse to acknowledge them because you got owned in wvwvw by a d/d elementalist and came here to claim its OP.

If you actually played an elementalist, you’d realize more than half our trait lines and traits greatly lack design, so it would be wise to do a little more research and learn to be a better player instead of crying nerf for a specific build you haven’t learned to handle.

True – as of now, this gives zero penalty for death. This should apply for PVE as well – death should be punished, otherwise what’s the point of trying to keep your character alive? Suicide rush all day

Yes, it does show the individual’s character and it’s pretty poor sportsmanship. Generally no big deal; but for those farming badges, denying loot is an issue.

If these people actually learned from why they got downed instead of rage-quitting, they can become a better player. That’s what I do when I get downed, even as I watch them dance on my mangled body. More incentive to not get downed again

I understand this has been brought up before, but has there been any indication for preventing players in WvWvW from instantly closing their game, because they got downed? This is becoming much more frequent: over the past few days, I’ve had about 8-10 alt+f4ers every hour in WvWvW, and this denies loot drops.

This is not a big deal unless you’re trying to farm badges of honor (only place for PVT exotic jewelery), and the way these things are priced, every chance for a loot drop counts.

A quick solution to this is to leave the character in-game for 10 seconds whenever a player chooses to exit. This way, players cannot exploit their character out of danger.

The tooltips are known to be inaccurate, but there is possibility the finisher was removed. However, this change wasn’t indicated in the patch notes intended or not, and it was a leap finisher prior to this patch.

Magnetic grasp is listed as a leap finisher.

Not that it matters since it can be dodged by turning slighty left or right

More than likley because [SE] members are better known for their exploitation of WvW gimmics and running towards the “invunerable” gliches when they are being trageted.

That’s a pretty harsh accusation considering you didn’t provide any details or a video. I can easily generalize your guild as blantant hackers without proof, even though I’ve never heard or seen your guild before.

Report the player if they’re exploiting/hacking, and record a video if you want to be taken seriously.

Has someone tried a build with, and without using the arcane trait line?

I’ve had an elementalist since launch, got to 80, and I’ve never put a point in the arcane trait line. 30/30/0/10/0, and I do fine in PvE, and even better in wv3 (though I wouldn’t do that in sPvP). I find the cooldown for switching attunements with no arcana is enough time to cycle through your attunements without trouble. This probably wouldn’t work with d/d build though, but I find it works well for staff and s/d, and you get to see big numbers.

I don’t know how it is with the arcana trait line though. It may be better – not sure, maybe I’ll try it sometime. I’ve been successful without it, so perhaps it’s a preference of playstyle.

That’s odd, I’m having the opposite results with glyph of elementals. All 4 of them are great for what they do. Fire has awesome aoe, water elemental gives a nice heal and condition removal, air elemental is ranged, stuns, and is great against a heavy single target enemy, and earth has tanked for me while I pull a bunch of mobs for aoe, and buffs toughness.

I’ve also had times in WvW where in a duel situation, I’ve been downed, but my elemental finished my opponent as well while I mist form away. Perhaps, it’s not a super awesome elite skill compared to what other classes have, but it’s certainly not useless.

I use both since they’re great depending on what situation you’re in. I like mist form for relieving heavy focus on you and cheezing behind your allies. Armor of the earth is great for setting up meteor showers, esp in wvwvw where it protects you from being interrupted and getting shanked from behind by burst.

The tribal skin is available from karma vendors in a 40-ish level zone. I am not sure which zone, however.

Are you sure? I’ve looked all over the karma vendors but it seems the tribal light set is exclusive to pvp only (called masquerade there, different from the pve masquerade set). It’s too bad since the tribal set is one of the few light armors that doesn’t lopk like a ballroom gown.

because staff is way too dumb ? stupid casting time, stupid timers, awful dps which can be dodged more easily and you won’t be able to catch someone who is trying to flee with a staff not to mention you won’t be able to dodge as well

With that attitude, you will never improve. SuiRyuJin makes some very good points – elementalist is a lot about playstyle, and not purely on just the mechanics which you complain about.

How bout try to find a solution to your thief problem, instead of saying they aleays instagib you. Do you use cantrips like armor of the earth or fire cleanse? Those utility skills are a big kick in the nads for burst dmg, and clears/protects you from conditions and stuns.

I also run a berserker staff ele in wvwvw, and initially I had your issues as well. With experience, you will learn how to effectively position yourself any situation, and avoid being the focus target.

As some of the posts have mentioned, going glass cannon for wvwvw (staff specifically ) works well because of the sheer power of aoe in defending and attacking key points, as well as controlling large groups of enemies. I only suggest putting in a few Valkyrie gear pieces for vitality since stacking too much precision isn’t useful when you have a 45%+ crit rate.

Effective positioning comes from experience, and you’ll find you will rarely be a focus if you place yourself well with your allies. If you get snuck up on, you’d be surpised how the use of cantrips (mist form, fire cleanse, armor of the earth), disables, and water heals can do for ele survivability. Avoiding 1v1s (you will only escape, rarely will you win) and avoiding getting zerg focused is key to enjoying your glass cannon ele. Not to mention eles murder siege weaponry

For the elemantalist, having the quick glyphs trait does not affect the skill cooldown of glyph of elementals. The tooltip shows the reduced cooldown from 120 secs to 96 secs, but after the elemental dies (after its duration, and not killed by any other means), the cooldown to reuse the skill remains at 120 secs.
