Nobleese Oblige [Nob] is currently recruiting people for well… dungeons and WvW!

We are a casual guild, we don’t require rep and are looking to grow in WvW. However, we have a lot of PvE players and are one of the oldest guilds on the server. We are still a smaller guild (although getting bigger), so I wouldn’t be able to guarantee that at any one time you would have 4 people to run dungeons with, but I invite ya to check us out and see if you like us.

WvW wise we have a small nucleus of players that play together often, and ironic enough a warrior is just what we need! So I hope this sounds interesting and I would certainly be happy to provide more specifics later.

I’m not sure if you would be willing to transfer, but if you are at all interested, [Svrn] on Eredon Terrace sounds a lot like what you are looking for. [Svrn] is a zerg busting crew that usually runs I would estimate about 15-25 just about every night. They use teamspeak and are a coordinated, focused group that really does wonders for ET. At the same time though they are relaxed and are just a good group of people.

Personally, I really enjoy playing on Eredon Terrace but as it is now its not exactly for everyone. I’d warn you that it is quite a challenge but we have a great community and are trying our best to get back up the ranks.

While Eredon Terrace might be the furthest away from t1, you might find what you are looking for on ET. While we certainly aren’t a glamorous server to be on, we are all quite friendly and believe it or not have many outstanding players.

All of our guilds focus on having fun first but these guilds still try their best at the same time. We do have competitive and focused guilds but even they are a blast to run with as they crack jokes and mess around with the best of em.

I’d warn you that playing on ET outside of primetime (5pm-11pm pst or so) can be quite rough but we are trying to fill the coverage gap in any way we can. What ET lacks in numbers, we make up for with strategy and just darn good pvp players. from 2v5 to 15v30 or further we win a frequent amount of these fights.

One thing you won’t get a ton of as well I’m afraid is large server fluctuations but if you want a server where 1 player can make a dramatic difference and do it while relaxing and having a good time, consider ET.

Noblesse Oblige means a couple things to do different people but we go by a more general definition. Our definition of Noblesse Oblige means those more fortunate are required to help those less so. We are a casual guild and pretty much do it all although I mainly do WvW. Historically we have been a PvE guild so we have many PvE players though. Size wise we are pretty small but have grown some.

Voice chat wise, we don’t use it a ton for PvE but I always use it for WvW. Gotta have teamspeak to be competitive in WvW!

Its not that bad and you have to realize if you are a guild considering transferring somewhere, 5 coordinated players can wipe our competition. We do it all the time.

Win those outnumbered fights and people love to join ya and your guild will grow stronger.

In fact… Organized groups can mop most of our oposition, because this oposition isn’t used to see ET fighting back with a strong force… We can see that when Svrn and EoH are on the field.

But just 1-2 guilds alone cannot carry a server to victory (Not even CoSA was able to carry SF by itself). We need more blood so this server can go back to life again.

Yup. I mean can you imagine? just one more guild like EoH and Svrn show up and we would be in such better shape.

Nobody is suggesting nothing be done to help ET. We’re saying that a knee-jerk reaction solution like server merging is not the best option available. It’s an extreme option that should only be used as a last resort. Myself and others have suggested plenty of ways to help ET (and other t8 servers in specific) gain some population with any luck (free tansfers for t8 for example, permanently). That said, if those don’t work then more extreme measures may be considered, and then and ONLY then will I be arguing nothing more should be done for ET. The sad fact is, in a fairly sandbox mode, some people/groups will be less fortunate/successful than others. I don’t want my server to got through drastic changes because SOME people on ONE server in gw2 are discontent with WvW atm.

I appreciated what you are saying and I’m very glad the majority of servers are content with their status. I hate the idea of a guild bailing on any server to help us which is why I’m very focused on trying to get new players into WvW.

The only thing I disagree with is you kinda missed my point I think. I mean no disrespect but servers aren’t disconnected in the way you describe. ET goes down any further than it has, the whole system will be drastically worse off. If the try hards of ET finally get fed up, then the next to “worse” server becomes the next ET and so on.

It will be no fun for Ebay, Kain, AR etc to play us which will expedite the WvW collapse by incentivizing people on those servers to move somewhere where there is actually a 1v1v1 component and fights.

If any server is down for too long, your server, no matter where you are will fall too.

I’m not advocating for a server merge, but peeps gotta realize WvW as a whole is a community.. its not just on a server wide basis. This is why to me, the WvW community as a whole needs to look down on guilds transferring away from low pop servers and commend those like Svrn who did the opposite.

Maybe thats too theoretical, which I grant you, but its frustrating to me that people just disregard ET and think everything will be fine for them if ET falls any further. Lastly I’ll add, the more balance we have the more players we will keep in WvW as it will actually be fun for new players and keep experienced players involved.

I agree almost 100% with what you’ve said pretty much. I’m just here in this thread advocating we discuss less drastic measures before merges (e.g. scaling server transfer costs, bottom server in t8 or all of t8 itself gets free transfers, maybe t7 gets something like 400 gem transfers, then increase by increments of 200 each tier you go up).

I would like any help we can get but I fear that with que’s getting shorter and shorter in higher tiers, there will be no incentive for people to come to lower tiers, regardless of transfer costs.

One suggestion I had would be to make siege timers 3 hours on lower tier servers… I mean that may be kinda a nice reason to come to ET. I also think maybe some better rewards?

I’m with you, lets not do anything drastic but something appropriate should be done and it will need to be less drastic the quicker that change is done.

All we need is a little bit of help. We have been abandoned before and honestly I don’t want a guild to have to do that to their current server in order to help us. At the same time, I kinda don’t want a server merge either. Ack! that’s a pickle!

I don’t have a great suggestion or solution but in my humble opinion I would like to see something done simply for the sake of the people I play with. We really try and I personally would like to see our guilds see some of the fruits of their labor from time to time.

1:5? Our numbers have increased, but they haven’t increased THAT much. We can pull everybody that is in our guilds/on our friends lists in if we need a brief surge in numbers sometimes, but if we are 1:5ing you then you are fielding fewer people than before.

Although this past reset, we did have more people on EBG than I’ve seen since we lost all of our WvW guilds – it was good to see.

Also: necessary considering the populations of the two servers we’re up against lol

Provide incentive like some have said for lower tier servers.

Easy things would be:

1) Increase siege timers to 2-3 maybe even 4 hours for said lower tier servers

2) Lower max players per map (as previously stated)

Harder things:

3) Make more breakout like events but for defense. This would be very tricky as I wouldn’t want it overdone but just something to make it possible for underpopulated servers to make something happen. You can imagine something like “Call for Help” which could be an upgrade for a keep that could spawn extra guards or spawn bazookas that would last a short time to help delay assaulters. Something to this effect.

4) Everyone improve their gaming and sporting spirit. Maybe all of us stop just all joining one server or one zerg and just roll over people. Maybe have the desire to play a game with parody.

Not sure if its the same guild but I had a lot of fun running with AKD before they transferred away from ET. I was a noob so I’d often mess something up but they were always quick to tell me to stop!

I have to say I am so impressed with everyone who played on ET throughout season 2.

Everyone who was a consistent contributor stayed positive and considering MASSIVE number discrepancies we won many fights.

Props to Svrn, EoH, TAC and all the other guilds that grew during the season. You guys made something happen from nothing.

[Svrn] is an awesome guild. They are all really friendly and willing to help out whenever they can. Svrn answers the most calls for help on ET and just about always when you need to wipe some bad guys, call the big guns of the server, Svrn. They will get it done right away

If your at all interested in transferring servers, [Nob] Nobleese Oblige on Eredon Terrace can be the fun and helpful guild you are looking for. Nob does it all and can help show ya around. We are currently trying to get a coordinated/competitive WvW crew going but have usually been a PvE guild.

ET is a fun server even though our ranking might make that seem to not be the case. Everyone counts on ET and because we are outmanned often we have some great pvp players. Playing on ET is tough though and will make you a more skilled player. Apparently on other servers as well the WvW environment can be toxic and a great thing about ET is thats just not the case.

Nob is historically a PVE guild although we are now trying to develop a strong WvW component. Well if you are looking for a challenge in a friendly environment, ET might be the place for you to be. My guild, Nobleese Oblige [Nob] is recruiting people for WvW but we are somewhat in the early stages of trying to become a coordinated, strong WvW guild. Nob has historically been a PvE guild although we are trying to get more involved with WvW (I have pretty much always just played WvW though).

So we might not be entirely what you are looking for but I completely agree with your number 3 point and the goal of trying to always improve. The cool thing about playing on ET is almost everyone is very friendly and we have pretty good cross map communication. We consistently win outnumbered fights, and have some really solid guilds that are getting stronger. Playing on ET can be tough though, especially during off hours. So if you play like 5pm-11pm PST you can have a ball here.

Consider Eredon Terrace.

In terms of starting a guild, ET can be exactly what your looking for. We certainly have some organized WvW guilds but at times when these guilds aren’t in full rally mode, we lack leadership. Because of this people will rally to you more easily than a higher tiered, more organized server. You wont be fighting other commanders on ET as we are extremely friendly and always do our best to help each other out. We also have some outstanding pvp players and can pack a serious punch.

One thing about ET that I think is really cool is that if you were to transfer here, you will 1) make a huge impact as everyone on ET counts and 2) will help gw2 as a game overall.

More on 2) By transfering to lower performing servers, you can help provide the parity neccesary for games like this to be fun. With EoTM (and just in general) I don’t see a good reason to be on a pvdoor ktrain server. Do you like playing say basketball 9v1?

As someone who still really enjoys WvW, I have a couple thoughts.

More servers, not less. The bigger a server is, the more opportunity for trolls and bickering as a server becomes a big city instead of a small town. More servers also provides more opportunity for more match ups (good for tournaments, breaking stale match ups up, etc). Smaller servers make is easier for new people to get involved as the atmosphere is more friendly (and players are needed more). The bad part would be splitting up communities and maybe not being able to defend everything as well but that might be a good thing. Oh, and expanding servers would give a PR boost of sorts as it would appear GW2 is expanding.

Take a census of the past month, find the smallest server and split the servers up until servers are similar size. You could even make it to where half of NA gw2 servers are large (like maybe what they are now) and then half do what I said a sentence ago with the hope that all kinds of players can play the style of WvW they want.

They’re moving in exactly the opposite direction of what you’re describing. I don’t think they learned anything from the disastrous effects of lack of community in EoTM (and PvE megaservers). They are extremely likely to move towards consolidating servers (probably using the megaserver/EoTM model).

Well if what you say does indeed turn out to be the case, I will hope for the best.

I still think WvW is great and overall works well (infrastructure, limited bugs). Right now the only thing holding it back are just too tough of odds for some servers and PPT hovering at the top of your screen 24/7 (obviously, right?).

I think it makes sense considering each type of gameplay to run megaservers for PVE but the opposite of megaservers (be community oriented) for WvW. I think community oriented WvW has a better chance of happening with smaller populations.

As well as this, I don’t see why we couldn’t for a week or two every month or so have servers team up and play together against the gold league.

So imagine this:

-9 Servers remain relatively large (in case players like being on a huge pop server)
-All other servers are adjusted to be the size of the smallest current server (obviously increases amount of servers total)
-Once a month 6 servers are merged into 3 servers and play in large servers to decrease stale match ups in the large league.

More servers also provides more opportunity for more match ups (good for tournaments, breaking stale match ups up, etc). Smaller servers make is easier for new people to get involved as the atmosphere is more friendly (and players are needed more). The bad part would be splitting up communities and maybe not being able to defend everything as well but that might be a good thing. Oh, and expanding servers would give a PR boost of sorts as it would appear GW2 is expanding.

Take a census of the past month, find the smallest server and split the servers up until servers are similar size. You could even make it to where half of NA gw2 servers are large (like maybe what they are now) and then half do what I said a sentence ago with the hope that all kinds of players can play the style of WvW they want.

On the guild front as well, [Nob] is recruiting more casual players for WvW. Great guild for newer players (we are very happy to show new people around) but certainly anyone is welcome.

Siege timers should be longer for lower population servers.

It would increase incentive for transfers to lower population servers also which is a good thing. Obviously if it encouraged people enough to where that server would to be too large for the timer increase that would be awkward but WvW needs more balancing in that regard. Although I very much enjoy playing on an outnumbered server, obviously many don’t and there’s not a great reason currently for people to play on a low pop server.

If not siege timers maybe something like better loot or something like that for low pop servers.

I’m sure this has been brought up a thousand times but I’m still curious if anyone would ever be in favor of an idea such as this.

So pretty much as they title says, perhaps once every two months or based off of feedback, we could have a week or two where two lower tier servers fight together against a couple of higher tier opponents. Obviously there are some logistical challenges of such an idea but it doesn’t seem undoable to me.

The goal of the idea would be to accomplish what the Spring Tournament wanted to be about (or so I assume), that being to have some “fresh” match ups. Obviously the problem with the Spring tournament is the WvW ranking system is pretty darn accurate, and a lot of servers have found themselves more than once outclassed.

Last thing I want to say again is I certainly wouldn’t want this to be a super common thing and I wouldn’t want it to be a “stepping stone” to a WvW megaserver mess. I simply think it could be interesting and fun.

So I know you said t3-t5 range but you really ought to consider ET. We have a battered but not broken foundation and we consistently win outnumbered fights. When I say consistently I think it’s due to showing the capacity to win 1:3 ratio type fights. We have a lot practice fighting outnumbered and I think a lot of us enjoy it. Add all this up And I sense a huge upswing on the horizon for us.

I love my server, ET. I’m still a relatively new player and I love being apart of consistently winning outnumbered fights.

All we need is seriously like 5 more people during nights and point totals would be drastically different.
