Anet didn’t even try to balance WvW. We all need to accept that.

YES. I love Portable camps…they make for a nice area to chill and hangout for a bit, enjoy the scenery, chat with people…and idk what Deboog is talking about, cause the camps would in no way support AFKers, seeing as if someone wanted to go afk, they could just do it without a camp and achieve the same effect…

He edited it. It used to say something about leaving your computer. I don’t have a problem with the idea anymore.

I almost have to agree with you with removing levels. In a game like GW2, the only point in a leveling system tied to base stats, and different leveled areas is RPG consistency. That said, I have no idea why you WANT to not be downleveled. What’s the point of playing a game if it takes absolutely no skill? Anet wanted to make their game require thought, as opposed to being rewarded for mindless button pressing in low level areas. Besides, with high level armor it is very hard to die in low level areas.

- No same sex marriages.

In b4 flame war. I would remove this before people start getting mad at you. Besides, sense virtual marriages are meaningless, there’s no reason to not allow same sex marriages, for both serious and for the lulz purposes.

Agreed. When you are looking over 15 items at once, it’s nice to know what to do with them without having to hover over each one individually.

Anet would never SUPPORT going afk. Camping seems like it could be a cool addition, but not as a way to leave the computer. Just log out. Problem solved.

What is the recommended starting lvl

It really depends on the class, and how much you are okay with being slightly weaker. As a Guardian, lvl 20 for my traited ground targeted consecrations was huge.

Norn can jump just as well as humans. The problem is that their model is really big and it makes it hard to judge jumps. I have yet to find a vista that requires a full on jumping puzzle, only mini jumping puzzles, but I’ll take your word for it. Try giving yourself swiftness. It can help with a lot of jumps.

WvW: Gold should NOT be tied to PVP.

Actually, it makes it better to play with a low lvl character. I could lvl a guy to 30, and WvW with him for cheap instead of my 80….

I do agree with this. I would make a separate currency for WvW. So the bags dropped there drop a currency to buy siege weapons, and it also has a chance to drop siege weapon blueprints. And remove repair costs. Having to run 1/2 of that huge kitten map is plenty death penalty for me :S

With that money, you can buy siege blueprints, upgrades, and even weapon skins, or armor skins, pets, etc. A whole new array of things. So you cannot just come into PVP with lots of gold and setup 10 trebuchets at a base with 20 catapults and 100 arrow carts, and all the castle upgrades (which could happen when we are all 80 and have more gold), but you have to earn it in WvW before you can use it.

Yes, it brings more currencies into the game, but I think it’s for the best.

Nice idea, but Anet will never do this. They are hard struck on connecting WvW and PvE. Besides, what would you do with the mats you collected in WvW? Would they sell for gold, or WvW money?

WvWvW isn’t supposed to be fair, Anet said that very often. I think it’s okay. I love that Gold is actually meaningful in this MMO, unlike other in which it’s just some useless accumulation of something.

EDIT: I also think it’s good that lowlvls are discouraged to join WvWvW.

Low levels are discouraged enough with the terrible armor they have. Gold should be meaningful, but not in PvP. The ultimate point of gold in an MMO should not be to decide who wins in WvW.

+1. In small, casual guilds, often leaders want EVERYONE to be able to invite anyone they want. You should not have to hope an admin is online for you to whisper to get into a guild.

Melee PVP combat is HORRIBLE

in WvW

Deboog.1847

How about this… You just suck. There is nothing wrong with melee combat in this game. What probably happened is somebody beat you, you were too immature to consider it was your own lack of skill that lead to you being defeated, and then you came to cry on the forums.

This forum needs a upvote and downvote system that closes threads below a downvote percent threshold so threads like these are swiftly taken care of.

You really shouldn’t hate on others just because you haven’t experienced the same problem. I don’t see a problem with melee in PvP, but I can understand OP’s point. Range has a lot of advantages, and for some classes melee is absolutely terrible.

More on the point, OP you told us nothing. What class are you? What class countered you? Why can’t you just turn the camera by right clicking, or was there another problem?

There is a serious problem with having to pay gold for armor repairs, siege, and upgrades in WvW. Supply, not gold is supposed to be the driving resource in WvW. Forcing players to spend gold in WvW accomplishes only one good thing: It prevents players from mindlessly placing siege that will never get built, or order pointless upgrades with bad timing. There are many disadvantages to using gold for this purpose, and many other options that accomplish the same thing.

Thanks to siege costing gold, low level players are driven away from WvW, players have to grind money to burn on WvW to do well, and often how well a siege works is directly related to which side is willing to spend more money. You have no idea how many times I have seen players single-handedly turned the tide of a siege by setting up a trebuchet nobody else was willing to buy. WvW is supposed to be about teamwork, strategy, and fun. Forcing players to grind up money to do well is none of these.

The jumping puzzles are a step in the right direction. They allow players to compete for free siege, adding a way for players to earn siege without blowing money on it. I have also gotten siege from loot bags. Anet needs to expand on this, letting players get siege equipment as an event reward. This would additionally give players an incentive to do the PvE dynamic events that never get done. Finally, you should no longer be able to buy siege from vendors for gold. This would make siege a unique reward from doing well in WvW. You would see someone in a golem suit, and imagine the epic siege he participated in to be rewarded with a golem suit, not how much money he burned.

As for upgrades, players should be allowed to vote on what upgrades a keep is undertaking. Votes to not upgrade at all would be favorably weighted to prevent noobs and trolls from getting excited and upgrading when stockpiling supplies would be better. Forts should never be maxed out on supplies, waiting for someone to decide to burn money on an upgrade.

Armor breaking from kills by enemy invaders should be removed. In PvE, if you die, it’s your own fault. You were in a high level area, or you played badly. Armor breaking is a punishment. In WvW, when you die by being zerged, it is not your fault. You should not be punished. Simple.

ABOUT THE MONEY SINK ISSUE:
sPvP is not a money sink, and for good reason. In PvP, weather serious or not, nobody wants PvE currency to define the outcome. Anet should not have to undermine WvW just to create another money sink. In regards to WvW becoming a safe place to earn money without punishment, Anet could remove PvE content from lootbags obtained from invaders. Only badges of honor and siege could be looted. Players would still be able to obtain gold from events, and PvE items by killing mobs, all of which risk death that breaks armor.

Nice idea. I think if Anet added this to test it, they would see what the masses wanted. If people swarmed to no-downed servers, they could flat out remove it from sPvP.

Guardian is ridiculously overpowered.

To OP, yes. Coming from a Guardian, Guardians are overpowered and Necros are underpowered. Most classes are somewhere in between, but you managed to run into one of the biggest gaps in power in the game. Sorry bout that. Imo lots of people on here are butthurt that you are insulting their class. Rather than think about how to fix the brokenness of Healing Signet they defend their own class without having tried Necro. Guys, let’s be honest. Guardian can heal ridiculous amounts, practically CC lock someone, and give every buff he has on himself to allies. He needs some weakpoint.

AGREED. Anet, in PvE, you punish people for dying. In WvW, you cannot control when you die, so you are essentially punishing people for playing WvW.

You are rewarding so shallowly for completing a zone, why should you care? I enjoy jumping puzzles and vistas. Having them count towards zone completion helps immerse you into the game, challenging you to climb mountains on your quest to map out every point of a zone.

How to fix the dungeons in GW2

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Deboog.1847

This seems like a great idea. Players would be punished less harshly for learning how to play, and more harshly for dying in a serious dungeon run. I think it would be a little too harsh to force players to start the dungeon completely over. Maybe there could be checkpoints. Anet already has a system that allows players to restart instances without waypoints in TPK, they use in in personal stories. It would be great if Anet added that to dungeons.
