Players have every right to information
Blame the community, not Anet. That’s like blaming Anet for showing scores in WvW, It’s not like anyone is dumb enough to complain about that… right?…
GW2 is about doing content. Having to go all the way back to town to unload your collectables and junk takes you out of the content. It’s a big reason why the game is the way it is.
Then Anet should add more vendors. That would solve the problem.
Accessing the trading post from anywhere breaks the economy. Imagine I am doing a dynamic event, and my inventory just filled up. I need to quickly clear out my inventory. I have one of those high value, non-collectable gems, so I quickly open up the trading post to sell it. It so happens that nobody is buying the gem, and there is a bit of a queue of people selling. I don’t want to be stuck in the queue, and I don’t really care about how much money I get, and just want to clear out my inventory, so I undercut the lowest seller.
Now imagine 1000s of people doing this.
Welcome to the wonderful world of an economy were people can sell things with no effort.
Good thing Anet didn’t let you see his name. Otherwise you would be assaulting him with complements like this one.
Good job Anet.
Arrow carts. And more arrow carts.
I have to agree with you. People who are defeated should not get to pop back up in seconds because they have 50 teammates right behind them.
By zerging, I do not mean being part of a big, fair fight, I mean running around in a large group overrunning smaller objectives so the enemy has no chance to defend itself.
1. You will get more xp, loot, and karma. Zergs can finish events incredibly fast, and so you will be able to steamroll events.
2. You run no chance of dying. If your group is big enough, and you don’t go for any major objectives, you won’t die. You won’t have to repair your armor. Yay.
3. You aren’t rewarded for helping your team win. So you get some buffs, big deal. Xp, gold and karma more than make up for a 10% chance to crit in crafting.
4. No need to pay for siege upgrades, or anything that will help you keep point! You WANT the enemy to take points so you can take them back!
5. Badges of honor up the wazoo! If every fight is tilted in your favor, think about how many kills you’ll get!
But in all honestly, Anet you need to fix this. From a practical, looking to be rewarded (yes I know Anet has a “everyone <3s our game and doesn’t care about rewards”) standpoint, there is no reason to play WvW in small groups, or do objectives that are appropriate to group size. All small objectives can be taken with a speed proportional to group size.
Agree 100%. The only thing stopping players from setting loot for a copper is vendor prices. There is an economy for crafting, exotics, and runes. Nothing else.
Community definition of exploit: Do something that makes me jelly.
Some of these ideas are really nice, like donating for upgrades, making the commander book cost badges, but others are ridiculous. NO WAY should teams be given points for killing the other team. WvW is about objectives, and you shouldn’t be rewarded for going around sweeping random players.
Please stop complaining about exploits if they are not based on a glitch in the game. It’s ok to complain about things like nightcapping, but complain to Anet. Don’t start a flame war trashing the server using these “exploitative” tactics.
Exploits (That Abuse Glitches)
– Using loopholes in system to hack (flying around map etc)
– Hitting with AOE through walls
Not Exploits (No Glitch Abuse)
– Nightcapping
– Invisible armies (even intentional use; abusing bad computers, bad internet connection, or even a bad client is evil, but perfectly fair)
– Mesmer portals for ANYTHING (unless it involves going through walls or something else glitchy)
– Environmental weapons
I think the solution is to force players to watch a tutorial video on WvW. I’ve seen many new players have no idea how to play WvW, and gravitate towards mindlessly smacking themselves against a keep door.
Atleast 2 servers can team up to fight the strong one so that they can try to be equals as 2v1.
What do you think would happen if it was 1v1 , strong vs weak?
In 3 way fights , atleast weaks have opportunity to be strong by making alliance.
It’s pretty hard to make an alliance when you can’t talk. I guess we can use emotes as sign language -.-
With 3 factions, the bottom 2 will fight, because the top faction is too powerful. This makes the top faction even more powerful, and the next thing you know the top faction controls 3/4 of the map.
+1. No idea why auto loot doesn’t actually auto loot.
No way. Anet needs to actually try.
There’s no way Anet didn’t consider this. I think it’s great. Players help players. Only try hards fight over the jumping puzzle, so portaling people to the end is just a way of saving everyone some time.
That is INCREDIBLY EVEN. Last week, Eredon had EVERY SINGLE point capped at one point, and the points were something like 300,000 50,000 50,000. This isn’t even bad. Quit whining that you are losing by a little bit.
NO player attacks should take out siege. IMO anyway. They have 5 or 6 types of siege each one should be an anti siege to the other(s). Building mass amount of sieges to have a couple ElEs walk up and mow them down in about a minute when no one is around is stupid and lame, and defintiely takes the impotance of them out of the game, or at least diminishes it.
They should have made siege stuff nearly impossible to take down with player attacks. If that means making them more to buy or cost more supplies than so be it, but right now siege stuff is basically useless and a throw away item. Even at the ‘cheap’ price it isnt worth it to buy one, unless you put it somewhere where no one can reach it at all, which for the most part means it snt going to be viable anyway.
Right now the only place Siege stuff is even reasonable is Stone Mist, and right when youre taking a keep and can place 3 or 4 down at the door knowing that you can kill the doors before the people inside can kill the siege. Anything else and its like throwing money and supplies away once it is targeted it is gone in less than 60 seconds. Its worse than a bad Nick Cage movie.
This might be ok if siege was balanced accordingly, but I think siege is already balanced as it is. The point of defensive siege is not to build it during a battle, but beforehand. How unfair would it be if you could hide behind a cannon blasting half the attackers, and there was nothing they could do about it?
This is a problem with the community. Not with the commander book. The commander book forces you to either be: A) dedicated to leading in WvW, or B ) have a giant guild backing you. Both are great qualifications for leading in WvW. If people think you are just being a rich show off, that’s fine. The block function exists for a reason.
IMPORTANT: By this, I mean pots of oil, and cannons. NOT arrow carts, ballistas, or anything built not on the edge.
I’m not complaining about difficulty in taking out canons and oil. I think it’s perfectly balanced. I just think it’s dumb that you have to use specifically AOE to attack defensive siege. It doesn’t add anything, and it doesn’t make sense. It’s really just a convenience issue. I don’t want to have to use my one AOE as a Guardian, look up at an awkward camera angle, and target the very tip of the wall. If we can attack wall siege anyway, why make it such a hassle?
THIS. When I have outmanned, it’s time to go do the jumping puzzle.
Agreed. No reason to take a supply camp with a raiding party if the zerg will take it back in 40 seconds on their way to a keep.
Looks like everyone is just mad. People will always kittenol in games. You can’t ban somebody for having fun at your expense. Otherwise, every player who fought in jumping puzzles would be banned.
If I’m scouting in WvW, and have all my armor off, I want to be able customize my underwear! +1
GW2 needs more relaxing things. Grinding mats is incredibly boring because not only are you doing nothing interesting, but you still have to pay attention to the game. Fishing would be a great addition.
Yeah. We also need to have a 2D sidecroller mode, an FPS mode, a racing mode…
Oh wait.
GW2 in an MMORPG. Why, and how could it be a moba?
Eles do ridiculous damage, and Engies can’t support at all. They need teammates to support them! I would switch the two.
Welcome to the magical world of the ballista and arrow cart. Use em.
It’s a server limit. If Aurora has 1000 people playing, it will not let any more Aurora’s in, regardless of how many Blacktides and Underworlds there are.
If you are being zerged with no defenses, it’s likely that your server still has slots on the map, your team’s zerg is somewhere else, or maybe they are just off being dumb and not playing the objective.
Anet needs to add REAL chat to WvW for this reason. No point having 3 teams if they all fight eachother. Teams need to be able to fight alongside eachother through communication.
Wait. You’re complaining that they attacked your towers? Do you understand the point of WvW?
So I thought pvp in this game was supposed to be skill based? What a joke!
in WvW

SPvP is skill based. WvW is strategy based. Sub 80 characters can carry just as much siege as lvl 80 characters. That’t what really matters.
It’s the same as in PvE, if you die a lot and don’t kill stuff/complete events, you’ll end up losing money. Why should it be any different?
Because in PvE if you die it is COMPLETELY your own fault.
They’re there to encourage you to not make dumb moves and die.
Another good thing to encourage you to not die is the Bloodlust rune. After building 25 stacks you will hate yoruself for being dumb and getting yourself killed.
I play WvW every night for hours, make tons of kills, and I think I die like two or three times a night.
It annoys me when we’re being sieged and players foolishly run out in front, kamikaze-like, and get themselves killed. Great, now we lost more #s to our defense and you have to respawn back at base and take 10 minutes to run back.
I should not be punished for not hiding in my keep, never venturing outside, and logging as soon as the door breaks. That’s the only way to ensure you never die.
Welcome to the wonderful world of the AAA GW2 community. Oh wait…
Obvious troll is troll.
This. It’s funny how 90% of the internet doesn’t understand sarcasm.
A) In an ideal WvW match, at least one map will be full.
B) Gold is a resource in WvW.
C) Gold can be obtained in PvE, without using up a slot in WvW.
So you can gain an advantage in WvW by playing PvE. Even worse, you can get an advantage in WvW by buying gems, but the fact that PvE currency is a resource in WvW is the root of the problem.
Armor breaking, siege, and upgrades should not cost gold. I’m not going to post suggestions, because this is not the suggestion board. I’m sure Anet can find better punishments for bad play.
You forgot the most important reason: it’s fun. Pissing people off with a knockback or just a regular attack that makes them fail the jump is a lot of fun. Though the most fun I’ve had was setting up shop at the very end and kill people 4-5 jumps away from the chest, you can almost feel the rage.
Actually I addressed that in the last paragraph. You are the scum of GW2. That’s fine. Nothing wrong with that. Everybody just hates you.
PvE has no place in WvW. I don’t think Anet accepts that though.
If it stops enemy players from obtaining more siege weapons that they’d use against my server. I will do it. It’s PvP. It’s competitive. Sorry.
I can grind mats in PvE for siege and get much more siege per day. You aren’t stopping me from getting siege, you are just making the game worse for everyone on the other server.
Title: Why Fighting in the Jumping Puzzle Makes You Look Like *an Idiot
Before everyone tells me to stop complaining about PvP in PvP, the WvW jumping puzzles are the only ones that gives siege as a reward, and can be redone every day. It is PvE content with unique rewards. Anet did not try to balance the jumping puzzle to be fair for PvP (as a Guardian I have all sorts of ways I can knock people off the edge without trying).
1) It doesn’t help your team. The imaginary uselessness of blocking off the opponent from supplies they can get anyway in PvE is not even remotely worth wasting time you could be spending defending a supply camp.
2) Free siege helps everyone in WvW. Would you rather have everyone get free siege, or have everyone have to grind to get siege? That’s what I thought. Let’s let WvW be about tactics, not grinding.
3) What goes around comes around. You may feel special about yourself because your group of 5 ganked one guy trying to jump, but sometime in the future you will be ganked by a group bigger then you. That is, unless we all agree to not kill eachother.
4) You aren’t even rewarded for it. You MAY get a loot bag, but chasing somebody into the water to have a 10% chance to get a medal of honor means you are wasting time you could be spending doing more jumping puzzles for medals of honor.
My point is, you are not rewarded for fighting in the jumping puzzle. It accomplishes nothing but stopping somebody from having fun. If you kill people because it makes you happy that they are not having fun, please stop playing GW2. You are a stain on the community.
If they made it where they weren’t repairable while under attack I’d be happier.
This is a good idea, but it would make poking the door with a stick every minute to block rebuilding a tactic. Still, I would love if Anet did something like this. Extra supply should not equal extra health.
I don’t think Anet will add moving siege. WvW is made so that siege has to be built on the spot, and building siege can be canceled by controlling an area. SALVAGING siege on the other hand, possibly with yaks, as you said, I think would be a great addition. You could get some of the supply back, the blueprint, and set it up inside like you said. Players could still attack the siege as it is being built, and you wouldn’t have useless siege sitting outside.
Why not just have it reset your personal story? Problem solved. As long as it gives you no xp or rewards up until the point you reached before you reset, I see no problem.
Honestly, Orb Bonuses and Outmanned bonuses need to be swapped. When I get Outmanned, I think, “Oh! Time to go do the jumping puzzle and grind some mats.” When I have the Orbs, I think, “Oh! Time to fight the other team.” It blows my mind that Anet created two separate bonuses, and gave both to the wrong team. Orb bonuses should work like the WvW server wide bonuses. If you own orbs, your server gets stuff. It doesn’t hurt balance in WvW, and orbs get to stay in in WvW.
Eh… I would not go for this. The game has a certain aesthetic with the classes, and this would break it somewhat.
An elementalist in full body metal plated armor. A warrior in a skimpy cloth outfit… Just does not seem to fit. I actually think it is a good idea that heavy users cannot wear med, or light armor.
I think that the penalty of charging for transmute stones would be enough to keep the archtypes. Besides, theme is not a very good reason to not let others get to wear the armor they want.
The only thing I want is a system where you can wear armour for your profession and below. If you can wear heavy you can also wear light. But if you wear light, you can’t wear heavy. I only want this for my Asura. He’s a warrior, but I think he’d look much better in robes
I think it’s a little unfair for light armour wearers though.
That’s hardly fair.

People will always get off on making others unhappy. I’ve never seen a commander in a jumping puzzle draw attention to it. Maybe this happens, but the more blatant problem is that people actually fight eachother in the jumping puzzles at all.
