Would You Still Play if There was NO Loot?

Hopefully “loot” doesn’t include all cosmetic progression, because a huge appeal of MMOs is the ability to flex your accomplishments.

Either way, I would focus more on the actual content and less on what I have in my inventory. I’d pay a lot more attention to my surroundings and actually take the views in as I’d feel a lot more at ease. Hell, I probably even would have bothered to complain about issues that are badly designed, like writing an essay on why the camera is utterly terrible in Guild Wars 2.
TL;DR version – Aimed too low, goes all over the place in tunnels and enclosed jumping puzzles.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Diminishing Returns affects the Mystic Forge.

POLL: Would you like level cap to be raised?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Deroy.2457

Deroy.2457

NO

There’s no reason for it.
Absolutely none, what-so-ever to raise the level cap.

Why make all of the old content even more obsolete by raising the level cap further?
Crafting and the dungeon sets have already been rendered utterly useless and obsolete thanks to the ascension set.

We want more content, more options – Not less, but newer.

You are now ArenaNet's lead designer.

I’m very much looking forward to see the changes in-game.
Couldn’t really find anything in the patch notes that irked me the wrong way.
Well, I was hoping for a character slot sale to come along with the update.
But I guess I’ll have to wait a while longer for that one.

Definitely checking out the prelude event first though.

Why does ascended armor need better stats?

But if that’s true, then under the old systems, rares were also redundant. And if level 80 rares were made the highest tier, level 80 masterwork would be redundant. It doesn’t matter where they set the highest tier, whatever is beneath it will be sub-par compared to it.

Unless we have one tier of gear, anything below it will be ‘redundant’, as you put it. So long as the bar is set, it doesn’t matter where.

Exotics are not as accessible as rares.

Basic 1+ || Coin / Drops
Fine 1+ || Crafting / Karma / Drops / WvW
Masterwork 14+ || Crafting / Karma / Drops / WvW
Rare 35+ || Coin (Cultural) / Karma (Cultural) / Dungeon / Crafting (Recipe) / Drops / WvW
Exotic 62+ || Drops
Exotic 80+ || Drops / Karma / Dungeon / Crafting (Recipe) / WvW

It’s worth noting that the player won’t make the next quality a standard immediately and will slowly dig into the next one. Exotic quality only become a players new standard once they hit 80.

68+ rares becomes the primary source of Globs of Ectoplasm once the player starts digging into Exotic quality. No, rares are not redundant.

The ascended gear was a bad move no matter how you look at it and the increased stat gap will do nothing but hurt the game and more importantly, its players. It will become just another barrier the players has to overcome before they can enjoy the game at its best.

One of the original selling points, at least to me and my friends, of the game was in fact the [mostly] horizontal progression and with ascended gear being added, it has been blown out of the water.

“LFM AC explorable, level 80/ascended only pls”

It really doesn’t, but then again why not? Really, so long as they make it just as available as exotics (which they are in the process of doing) it doesn’t affect the game either way.

If it’s going to be as available as exotics then there’s absolutely no point in having any level 80 exotics in the game. Exotics will be redundant.

I dread anything that takes the control away from the players.
The narrative of the colossus fractal is great.
If all of the story quests had been like that I think I would have enjoyed them a lot more.

However, another problem would arise and that would be repetition.
As you’d most likely be unable to skip a lot of the story sections.

APACB-Choir Bells doing something about it

Really? Just got to another spot or mute your sounds.
What’s being requested in this thread is utterly selfish and and a real kick in the balls for the people who own a set of bells.

The bells aren’t even annoying to begin with and the fact you decided to stay around and listen contradicts everything.

Poorly designed dungeon encounters.

I can’t be the only one who thinks that most trash and certain “bosses” have unjustified and unnecessarily large health pools. All-the-while requiring nearly no tactics what-so-ever.

Crawling through a dungeon feels like breaking a brick wall with a stick just to reach the end-boss on the other side of it. It’s not fun, it’s boring and a very tedious experience.

Oh, and this problem isn’t exclusive to dungeons.
A lot of the dynamic events features mobs with the same issues.

I’d really like to see all dungeons and most dynamic events re-balanced.
I’m not saying they should make the dungeons easier, I’m saying the developers should make it a more pleasant and better experience that doesn’t involve standing still for more than two minutes just auto-attacking.

Next gw2 Expansion Class?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Deroy.2457

There are no classes they could add. They have all the necessary archetypes in the game. Adding any more classes would just be redundant and cause nothing but balance disparity. Any abilities the developers designs in the future will fit for at least one of the classes that are already in the game.

If anything, ArenaNet should design new weapon types and class skills that fill up holes and roles currently lacking.

Friends and lower-level zones.

Alts won’t fix the problem at all. In fact it just further validates the point I’m trying to make as the content disparity is still there.

It just shows that most, if not all, zones with hearts can not be enjoyed with other players unless the respective players are all fresh into it.

Level Scaling should be optional...

Swing a sword well enough and you’ll feel powerful without any unnecessary stat advantages.

Besides, it’s not like any of the low level zones are challenging to begin with.
There have been so many times when I have fought a champion just to go AFK for 5 minutes on auto-attack because of their incredible and undeserving pool of health.

An issue I have with the current design of most zones up to level 60 is how very focused they are around hearts. Unlike dynamic events, hearts are not repeatable, so they may not grant a reward a second time. The completion of hearts are required to earn the exploration awards for each zone.

Now, me and my friends are all completionists, meaning that we’ll explore every nook and cranny of each zone before we move on to the next one. But, since I’ve already explored the zones my friends are playing through I don’t have much to do other than to ensure their survival, increasing their rate of progress and participating in a rare dynamic event from time to time. All-in-all, I don’t even feel like I’m playing the game at this stage.

Converting some, if not most of the hearts into dynamic events would solve this glaring issue. I just felt I needed to raise the issue, lest it never be mentioned.
