Thank you both so much for your responses!
Like the title says; are mesmers able to read minds? I’ve tried to find any bits of lore that confirms it or proves it impossible.
Title.
It doesn’t make sense that we aren’t able to waste 10 continue coins for 50 lives, when they are just going to be lost as soon as we exit SAB and return to Rata Sum.
You do an awful job at explaining to the players when and if the content will be removed.
Add in a timer to the game for the living story content, much like how there’s a timer for daily and monthly so players know exactly when the content will be removed. If there’s no timer then the players can assume the content will be permanent.
Would be very, very much appreciated.
Make the content permanent, but the rewards timed.
That will please everyone.
GW2 isn’t dying, but it sure as hell ain’t getting better.
You might want to look elsewhere.
I have died many times from traps that shouldn’t have killed me for I was nowhere near them. I’ve had the floating leaves sink immediately after jumping onto them. Rocks manage to hit me mid-air, and a lot of times they simply ignore jumping up to attack me altogether even though I was well within range. I’ve had severe cases of rubberbanding (only happens in GW2), that moves me into traps after I’ve managed to slip by already.
And that isn’t remotely every issue I’ve experienced.
It was too easy! Tribulation Mode complete!

I’d like to know who thought it was a good idea to pay tribute to masochistic games like IWBTGG and BTR when you don’t have the engine to support it. Guild Wars 2 has very imprecise movement and incredibly wonky camera. More than half the jumps I’ve got my characters ’hind covering my entire screen.
Not to mention that the hitboxes are about twice as big as the actual models.
Triggering traps that shouldn’t have been triggered.
Guild Wars 2 has always been pay2win, though.
Why aren’t achievement rewards like King Toad’s Backpack Cover redeemable multiple times like Zenith skins? I see no reason why only the rewards from the numbers game should get that kind of luxury.
Well, that’s true…until the last patch, when you had to do 13 zone events in different zones. And a lot of people had trouble getting the Gauntlet achievements too.
I ignored the zone invasion achievements, but I managed to at least get 7/7.
It’s quite frankly something that shouldn’t have been made achievements because those kind of achievements are not something the player is in control of. The game is.
As for the gauntlet, aside from the arbitrary requirements of tickets it was fine.
Although Liadri’s blind ability was unfair as it’s an example of the game removing immediate control from the player.
Also if you don’t run to sites like Dulfy and want to play the content without doing it “efficiently” but actually figure stuff out, some of it could take longer.
Guild Wars 2 had a tendency to poorly telegraph everything in the game to the player.
So it’s not surprising when players run off to sites like Dulfy.
To be fair, most achievements that have accompanied the bi-weekly updated have been obtainable on patch day after about 4-5 hours of play.
Grind is good. Don’t like it? don’t do it
grind is bad.
Actually grind is good, but it’s supposed to be cleverly hidden behind good content.
Content Anet are incapable of delivering.
I find it funny how the public faces of Anet has been lying through their teeth and making false promises just around Guild Wars 2 more than Molyneux has done over the years for all of his projects.
Otherwise going back on their policies which were a huge selling point to most consumers according to some polls back before release.
They have yet to release a good dungeon or revamp one of the old ones so they aren’t completely terrible. Although the F&F dungeon was okay, but just one limited dungeon isn’t nearly enough to excuse Anet.
PvP is still a mess, WvW likewise.
And the gear treadmill they are implementing just add more grind without any new content. I don’t see anything good coming anytime soon.

There’s a difference in difficulty and punishment.
Dark Souls or XCOM are games I consider great and difficult games.
Because they telegraph everything properly allowing the player to sit back and study the enemy and hazard behavior.
Tribulation mode? It’s exactly the opposite.
Most of the time you’re exposed to invisible hazards, hazards you need to be exposed to before you are even aware of their existence. Also, most of the time objects you thought aren’t hazardous to the player, in fact is. It’s like removing the visual differentiation between 1up mushrooms and poison mushrooms.
If anything, Arena Net should be ashamed of themselves for stooping this low.
As it goes against everything in the book of good game design.
Then again, it’s in their nature to make the poorest decisions possible.
It was a chore in the beta, it was a chore when it was released and it still is a bloody chore. Why is it a chore? For starters, only three zones in the entire game have enough variation and contrast to provide the player with a feeling of wanderlust. Namely Straits of Devastation, Malchor’s Leap and Cursed Shore.
The three zones in Orr focus entirely around dynamic events whilst every other zone almost exclusively focuses on hearts. Yes, there are dynamic events in the lower class zones, but they are nowhere near the quality or the quantity of Orr.
I can wander around Orr and I’ll be guaranteed within a couple of minutes to run into something interesting to do. But whenever I wander throughout Kessex Hills, Snowden Drifts or the like I can wander for over half an hour and the only things I’ll encounter are the dreadful hearts.
And what purpose do these numbers called levels serve anyways, besides locking players out of content? Well, they do help us shape and make choices regarding our builds? A feature completely redundant thanks to the ability to re-allocate our trait points. And aside from the redundancy, exactly 15 (1+14) levels would have been enough to help beginners make a build.
This entirely linear progression is what’s hurting the game the most.
And it’s starting to look more and more like a treadmill by every month.
All ore veins.
Character bound.
Overpriced.
Every leaderboard tracking a video games’ stats is utterly biased and useless.
It’s not a welcome feature by any stretch of the imagination and is just taking up work force and bandwidth as far as I’m concerned.
Not even common sports and leagues are able to maintain a performance based leaderboard, what makes you think a team of mere developers are going to do it?
The leveling is why I don’t develop my alt characters.
When you’ve done every zone on your main it just feels repetitive to go through them again, and you ask yourself why it’s necessary.
It certainly isn’t to teach the players the mechanics of the game.
There are only three enjoyable zones in the entire game and they happen to be 70+, making the whole aspect of leveling even worse as you have to gain those first 70 levels before you get to enjoy the PvE content.
Leveling through WvW is hardly even a possibility.
My experience rate in WvW is about a fifth of my PvE experience rate.
And when I’m in WvW I pretty much tag everything with my AoE abilities, constantly.
There’s a difference between effort and luck. If it wasn’t luck but endless amounts of playtime that they had to go through to finally get it, isn’t that something that should be fixed?
Yeah, you are right.
And if I would have it my way I’d make it so that anyone who’ve beaten fractal 21 got access to all fractal weapon skins at the cost of some gold.
But since the skins wasn’t released in such a state, their worth would be undermined.
I would greatly appreciate it if we could get some more options and not just mere a horizontal position slider.
What’s the point?
Fractal weapons are just skins.
Adding another way to gain these skins would just undermine the effort of everyone who’ve already gotten the skins.
Defiant and Unshakable are undoubtedly two mechanics that are terrible.
They encourage spamming of your abilities rather than timing them.
Even then there’s no point in interrupting and controlling enemy foes that are unshakable. Because every encounter is simply too easy and relies on the health of the enemy rather than interesting mechanics.
I’m glad legendary weapons aren’t so easy to obtain anymore.
I pretty much see them everywhere nowadays, which is a bit silly.
Of course you’re gonna get burned out on a game, if that game is all you play.
I’m more interested in why people care to announce that they’ve been burned out on a game instead of just playing other games.
I honesty like the demand for warriors and mesmers.
Because it’s a great way to show me the mentality of players when creating a group.
Take your time and money elsewhere. I’m moving to Neverwinter Online.
A place where winter isn’t coming?
With the large number of posts regarding the PvP as part of the monthlies, I don’t think it was a minority. And they had already given way to a vocal “minority” of PvP players who wanted their own monthlies.
sPvP players having their own monthlies and dailies is reasonable, because they have a completely different set of progression laid out for them. WvW on the other hand is not PvP, it’s better to call it a ‘PvE race’ with enemy players roaming around.
There was no justification at all in taking out WvW from monthlies. It was only taken out to satisfy the lazy and “privileged”. As a result they also slapped two player demographics, (the WvW crowd and Jacks of all trades), on their hands and telling them that “WvW is bad”.
As we all know the world of of Guild Wars 2 features great aesthetics and plenty of sights to behold. But the game immediately discourages the player and slaps us on our hands as soon as we view it.
The immediate focus on our characters prevents us from seeing the world at our own leisure and instead we have to force it. I know what my character looks like, I’ve spent a ton of hours just looking at him. But I don’t know what the world looks like, because viewing it is an inconvenience.
I’d imagine that the view from screenshot 1 is how most of us play the game, the camera is in a great position, but the angle is terrible. In screenshot 2, the angle is great but the position is absolutely terrible. We need a middle-ground.
So, please, add a vertical camera values in the options menu.
Just like there’s already a horizontal position option for the camera.
You are not being forced into anything. You only think so because you refuse to make any kind of effort towards completing monthly.
You’re sounding just like those who demanded WvW to be taken out of monthly rotation. And the developers made a gargantuan mistake by giving into this demand from a vocal minority.
We’re gonna reach a point where they’re gonna hand us legendary weapons just for buying the game at this rate.
1. Form your opinion based on facts and your personal experience and not with second-hand information!
Reading these forums you will see a lot of lies and tinfoil hat conspiracies.
It’s best to take most statements with a grain of salt unless solid evidence is provided.
2. The combat!
While the ordinary holy trinity isn’t in the game, this game still has its three pillars.
Control, Support and Damage. While you may specialize in any of them, you will still be expected to fulfill each role, regardless of your build. Control and Support are both always more important than damage. Damage should be contributed while focusing on either Control or Support.
The sooner you realize this, the better player you will become.
3. Teaming up!
Finding a group without a global LFG system in place requires a bit of work and patience. Luckily there’s http://gw2lfg.com/ – A great deal of players use this to find groups.
-Players of different realms [servers] can team up in dungeons.
-American and European characters are unable to play with each other.
If you’re feeling lonely in the zone you’re in, use guesting to temporarily visit a high-population realm to test your luck there.

I want to see the world of Tyria not text…
Which will still be a pain in the neck until they give us the ability to adjust the vertical angle of the camera. For some reason the camera is pointing down on our characters rather than at our characters viewpoint.
Odd thing is though that his toughness is apparently higher than his armor stat
Now this is really odd, it was to my understanding that each point in toughness provides a point in armor. Meaning that this should in fact be impossible. Mayhaps there’s a bug in the calculations somehere?
Should be renamed “Weekly”.
To be fair, those of us who have it already, or are on the cusp, probably play a lot more than the average player. My buddy plays about three hours a night, five nights a week and ain’t anywhere close to finishing.
I’m not saying that it’s necessarily a bad thing that something requires less time to complete. I mean, nobody likes to ‘feel forced’ into doing something over an extended amount of time and considering the value of laurels, I’d say most people feel more than compelled to complete monthly.
I just find it odd that people have been able to complete what is supposed to be a time sink in 5 days. It’s like A-net is trying to create habitual routines in their players by providing daily and monthly incentives, but fail in doing so.
Killing the character would also destroy the soul? thus no more soulbound?
But the concept behind the soul is immortality?
Can’t destroy anything immortal, no?
Should be renamed “Weekly”.
I think it would be a rather logical decision to reset the home realm upon deletion of all characters. This would make it easier for new players to pick a realm of their liking and still discourage older players from doing so.
It’s not poor design – it is by design due to WvW. Otherwise bandwaggoners would simply delete to jump to the winning server.
Where is the incentive in deleting all your characters just to “bandwagon” onto top WvW realms? Surely you realize that almost all of the progression is erased by deleting the characters?

I think magic find should go, not on the basis that it’s a selfish stat.
But because in its entirety, it’s useless.
Sure you have have a few times more to earn some better loot, but you’ll be quickly neglected by the effects of Diminishing Returns after a few drops.
And a chance 1/5000 rather than 1/10000 isn’t really all that worthwhile of an investment.
It’s also worth noting that I’m running partial MF gear, and I find myself being one of the top contributors to group activities most of the time. Gear doesn’t matter, skill does.
I have a couple of friends who are somewhat interested as well. But they have bad experiences with previous MMOs in general so they’re avoiding the game by that basis.
I think a trial-weekend with some upcoming living story event would be great. With some limitations of course, to prevent exploitation.
I don’t even know how you could come up with the idea that deleting a character would suddenly make all their soulbound items suddenly not-soulbound.
They weren’t perfect because the fractal requirement restricted it to lvl 80’s geared enough to do fractals, meaning any newish player who didn’t play 15 hours a day wasn’t going to get the monthly done for a couple months in a row.
Fractals 1-9 are easy as cake and can be pretty much done with characters of any level and any quality of gear. The belief that you somehow need a level 80 geared out in exotics to do fractals (or any explorable dungeons, for that matter) is completely bogus.
Me and my friends have three-manned fractals on our level 20-40~ alts.
So I know this is in matter of fact and personal experience.
Any complaints towards the monthly and daily achievements are and were unwarranted.
Hell, they were pretty much perfect before the patch, now it seems a bit too easy and rewards players who simply don’t deserve completion to begin with.
The only thing that really feels like a grind to me is leveling up a new character up to 35.
Anything after that I can enjoy at my own leisure, but I just can’t seem to enjoy the first 35 levels because only by then do I have access to all of the features in the game.
I don’t think I’ve ever played solo.
Except for the personal story.
Piken Square [EU]
Tarnished Coast [NA]
I think the combat itself is fantastic.
The only thing that irks, and it really irks me, is the targeting.
This would have been fantastic and pretty much fixed my targeting issues.

Raids are stupid and artificial in difficulty.
Rather than requiring more teamwork they actually require less.
The average players performs less and becomes less vital the bigger the group becomes.
1v1 and 2v2 are not in the game because the game is not balanced around such encounters.
There’s no inspection feature so that I can sneak into dungeon groups with magic find gear.
The lack of dueling however is a bit weird as it’s the best way to teach other players to counter a class.
