I believe the match-up would be quite different if BPBL didn’t had that connectivity issues. It’s just sad that no one can do kitten there because of lag and dc’s.

There is no doubt it affects the match, but I wouldn’t be so sure that it is in our favor. We rely a lot on quick reaction forces and I can tell you right now that our commanders are very hesitant when it comes to taking their forces off another map to come and rescue BPBL because 3/4 of the people attempting to zone into BP are going to have a client crash and some of those people are going to leave WvW for the night.

You should password protect your TS though. It will keep most of the spies out, and the trolls, griefers, etc. We set things up so until you are verified as a BP player, you can only enter the lobby and (I think) a couple open PVE channels. All your commanders and guild leaders should have the ability to verify players. Oh, and be sure and include a pop-up welcome message telling players that until they are verified they can’t swamp channels, who to talk to to get verified, etc. so you don’t have a huge, confused, angry player base.

Thank you for this. We know this is how SBI runs their ts as well. The people in charge of our ts are primarily PVE and when we bring this up we get mostly ignored. Hoping they might change their minds soon enough…

Actually, this is a traditional Borlis Pass maneuver. The hold an enemy Hills keep at all hazards move. We’ve done it many times before, usually to SBI. Its why they hate us incidentally. As for cheating, don’t kid yourselves. I am the Sylvari Bronze Knight you no doubt saw at many of your camps trying to stop that waypoint construction. Me and many others went to a ton of trouble to complete it and we did so fairly, and our sentries have been sitting on it since to watch for golems.

Like I suggested many times: a very easy way to solve this, is make objectives less worth (PPT wise) when their are lesser enemies in the zone.
So a zone with both enemies having queues (so full) you get the normal score for objectives you hold. Having almost none enemies in the zone means you get almost 0 points for your objectives in the zone.

I like this very much, but I would tweak it slightly to have the comparison be total players in wvw vs. total players in wvw. Here is why.

Say servers A and B have the same number of people in wvw. Server A is kicking tails in server B BL. To relieve pressure, server B sends a team to go flip camps and towers in server A BL and force server A to either send some people from server B’s BL back to their home or lose points. In your system, B would get no points for the flipping but B would get full points for flipping them back, despite both populations being equal.

If a server gets PvDoored at any time of the day simply because they refuse to put troops in a particular BL, well they should lose points. It’s really PvDooring when the opponent is severely outnumbered that you want to avoid.

BTW, you would also have to have some sort of running metric regarding average number of people in the zone during the tick period or kittens would port large zergs out of WvW just before a tick period ends and then port back in once they had gained a giant chunk of score.

But you are on the right track.

However, it was talked about openly in your TS by the guy who was doing it, while he was doing it, so some people in the attacking group probably did actually know what was going on. But, I will admit, some probably means less than you could count on one hand, so it’s not all that likely that CD had a server meeting and decided to do this. We get that.

Just try and understand that this has such a huge affect on both the outcome of the match and the battles in the individual BGs that people are extremely upset by it. Anet needs to immediately do something about it because it could very easily completely kill WvW. Imagine a world where in every match up there are a dozens of trials spread across all sides of all maps racing to eat supply, abusing people in map chat, laying down troll portals in front of gates, calling out false scouting reports, keeping their own team informed of every opponent’s move, etc., all with the people being trolled unable to do anything at all to stop it.

I hope you never quite understand how angry people are, because if you do it will mean it has happened to you.

Even if it is an ex-CD player griefing you guys, that doesn’t entitle you all to make sweeping generalizations of an entire server of thousands based on the actions of one person. If someone from CD did transfer over to BP to greif, that doesn’t mean CD is some nefarious server sending out spys and saboteurs because it can’t win on its own. I know one can’t just assume this was planned by the group trying to take Bay for 4 hours, but it can’t help but tarnish CD’s reputation in our eyes and made for a bad ending to what was otherwise a very fun and hard fought night.

I have been defending the BL on more than one evening when the topics of conversation have been the kids high school (or even college) graduations, second marriages, vacation properties, bad backs, bad knees and the general annoyance of not being able to punish one’s body like you can in your twenties without paying for it.

I for one would love to see a debate between YB and BP on who is the more mature server! Please commence!

I couldn’t give two craps about beating a server with higher ranking. I am still playing this game for one reason: fights. The PPT game is old and worn out. It’s you guys that actually care about PPT, not me. Beating a server with higher ranking doesn’t even mean anything except that the other server’s coverage is in flux. So the former. I would love to see the former.

So you will beat your chest all night about beating a server that is a full tier and a combined 9 ranks below its opponents, but you don’t care about PPT.

I think the fact that you can’t actually beat ANYONE who is ranked higher than you leads to your disdain of PPT far more than any love of a good fight. I mean, how good a fight can the doors put up anyway?

Just use a pencil and paper. It’s not that complicated. Does a game really need to keep track of everything for you?

Anytime there is a list of things you need to tick off, you should be able to see what you have and have not completed in the achievement panel.

Why? Because it is that complicated because it isn’t just a sheet of paper. It is just one sheet of paper for this event, but there are all kinds of achievements where you need to just keep a list: all the dungeon path completions, diving, all the map completions, etc. in addition to things like the event. You will end up with a binder full of instances of “1 sheet a paper”. Frankly, the achievement panel is crap compared to other MMOs and they really should fix it.

I will remember destroying 3 BP golems because their PUG zerg didn’t take out out our hot oil while attacking KBL Bay on Sunday…plus that gave me extra time to switch channels on TS and call for reinforcements

Needless to say, 5 guys from Kaineng held out long enough for reinforcements to come in against 20-30 BP. Again, no notable organized guilds were a part of this group so I’m assuming these guys were just bored and said “lets take KBL Bay for the heck of it” and yes, KBL Bay was upgraded then so it bought us a bit more time. Last night however is memory I would like to forget since i only saw map updates from my phone, but my guild mates painted a pretty good picture of the a$z rap1n6 they got last night.

Defense is often thankkitten ring and unprofitable compared to being on the attack, but those times when a small group turns back 4-5 times their numbers are priceless!

FYI when looking at the breakdown of scoring this match you see a lovely trend.

Ebay was in the lead until Monday am when BP/Yaks got to PvD us.

Again Ebay was winning until we all log off on the weekend allowing PvD to take place.

Couldn’t even PvD Ebay on the weekend and had to wait until the work week started.

This is a quote, including the caps and the bad grammar. Sounds pretty serious to me.

There are a couple things you have to realize.

First of all, it is a parody of a quote from the leader of Reks threatening to transfer from EBay if they lost to BP. It wasn’t serious. People on our forums, where it was posted, understood this while perhaps someone who was just passing by for the first time might not.

In all fairness, he has no control over how bad EBay was last week.
