I think we’re going to get past that Tengu wall, or we’ll be using the new boats that have been coming into Lion’s Arch, we’ll get on the boats to the Sea of Sorrows and possibly meet up with some Tengu or Largos, then beat up some deep see dragon or something equally as cool, I did see a poster with the picture of a Leviathan or a Kraken, so…
I’M SO EXCITED!
I support this suggestion! +1
I would love legendary armour, BUT, it has to look extremely cool, just like some of the legendary weapons.
Thanks for the awesome backgrounds!
I fully support this suggestion, there needs to be more achievements, more rewards for achievements like titles, and more titles. Make the titles stand out more too, and allow us to show our own name and title and/or guild name above our heads.
I think they’ll build it under construction, and then it will be completed once Wintersday starts and then we’ll have Wintersday decorations on it.
I don’t understand all the constant negativity and WoW comparisons. Adding mounts to GW2 does not mean it would have to work exactly as in other MMO’s.
Think of it this way: Would it be cool to ride around on your very own Dolyak, or skeletal horse? Hell yes!
Would it break the game? Well that depends entirely on how the team would implement this feature. And you can be sure that they would not add the feature unless it worked with the rest of the game. In other words, let Anet worry about balancing issues. And keep the ideas coming.
What kind of mounts would be fun?
Moa Bird, Dolyak, Necrid Horse, Bone Dragon, Drake…
It would also be interesting if mounts some how encouraged other players to have benefits from it as well. How would mounts work with other players?
I’m glad you see it like I do.
Mounts are awesome, they make your character look unique and some of them can be really great looking. Also, they could link it to achievements, get 50/50 mounts and get this legendary one, it would be a drive to play the game more, I love collecting stuff like mounts, I had tons in WoW.
“We have decided to develop and include the Chronomancer and the Summoner in the initial release of Guild Wars 2.”, GW2 is released and I don’t see either of these, so?
I just think it was a conflict of information and confusion, I don’t think we’ll see either of them, but the Chronomancer is always on the table, although I still don’t expect any new class’s.
But I want my Chronomancer =(
They have said that they are not releasing the Chronomancer.
I could have sworn this was in regards to GW1. I don’t remember seeing anything about GW2. If possible link the official statement, so I can get sad momentarily and then continue living without false hopes.

can a moderator please close this thread. the devs have already said no mounts so why the big huhar. and if you don’t like it, then don’t play simple. but as i’ve said in a previous post about mounts. it’s to do with the LORE!!!!! they were not in guild wars lore. so why invent them just to make some people happy. no thank you. it would ruin the game in my eyes and no doubt many other peoples eyes too. so plese can someone put and end to this mount nonesence. thank you.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Summit_Beastmaster
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Dolyak_Rider
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Necrid_HorsemanYep, never have any form of mounts ever been in the lore.
Speaking of lore, it makes a lot of sense to have miniatures.
I forgot about the Necrid Horseman and this guy too.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Banished_Dream_RiderAs we’ve already discussed, MOUNTS. ARE NOT. LOREBREAKING. The Junundu also have been mentioned, just to cover that base.
Please know wtf you’re talking about before you keep repeating what’s been said and proven to be false.
So they’re lorebreaking? No. They’re not. Please see above.
It would clutter the game? No. Please see suggestions that would not allow mounts in cities, and the fact that, what are you expecting people to parade around on? If you want to talk about lorebreaking, it would be any mount that’s big enough to be a “clutter” problem.
It’d become a pay-to-win speed boost from the gem shop? Uh, no? Why would you even think this? Nobody, as far as I’m aware, is rooting for mounts to be restricted to the gem shop. That would be stupid, and if they end up in the game it isn’t going to be through only gem shop purchases. That’s just. I can’t even.
Mounts put a stop to character interaction? Let me tell you, through all the years I’ve played WoW, having a mount was never a reason to ignore someone. It was because I was trying to get somewhere, and mount or no, I wasn’t going to stop. These statements are just getting ignorant and desperate now.
People seem to think that just because they’re content to farm up a dungeon armor set and be done with it, means everyone should be. That’s not the case, at all, and it’s pretty oblivious and selfish to refuse to see otherwise. Some people like to collect everything they possibly can. Mounts wouldn’t be overpowered, they shouldn’t be restricted to only some players (with the exception of having to complete something to get them, maybe), they shouldn’t be in PvP/WvW or cities. They also shouldn’t be limited to just the roads in other zones.
Keeping to the roads would be a pain, both for the devs and the players (because seriously if I want to run in circles on a mount I just got, I want to run in circles sporadically, not on a path).
TLDR: Please stop being so close-minded, you’re not benefiting anyone. Not even yourself, despite you refusing to acknowledge that.
Possibly the only majorly smart comment here, well done.
Some of the reasons for being anti-mounts here are so stupid.
‘Urrm, it will make people ignore each other and not do dynamic events.’, well, that’s just rubbish, if anything it will make us go to dynamic events and the things we normally do quicker.
The statements here are getting desperate, big time.

I like the idea in my head, but I’m not 100% sure how it would all work in-game.
Still, would be nice, would give way to some great roleplaying too.
Guild capes, anyone?
I also support this suggestion, let us stamp our guild emblem on whatever chest we have.
I support this suggestion! +1
I don’t think it changes a single thing.
-race choosing guide-
No offense direngrey, this IS great information, but you’ve posted that atleast 5 other times as well. Maybe keep it until somebody asks what the next race might be?
Understood, that’s fine, I just like to voice my opinion, it really bugs me when people think that something’s going to happen when most likely it won’t, I prefer to tell people like ‘Listen, not gonna happen, this is more likely.’.
Sorry, anyhow.
The Tengu are the next race, they have a certain guide and a few questions they ask when trying to choose a new race, the Tengu fit all of them and much more than all of the others. They are hinted on ALL the time in-game, and many of us would like to see them in future expansions.
These are the questions that ArenaNet ask, and this exact post can be found from an ArenaNet staff member at http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/2094-room-for-future-races-and-classes/page__st__60#entry89820.
The Tengu fit them all, look at the answers.
Is the race visually and culturally interesting (are they cool enough to be a playable race)? Yes, as they are one of the most wanted races to be playable. Their culture, though not expanded as much as the playable races, has good detail, though they could easily be expanded more.
Do they provide us with a different sort of archetype that is currently not in the game? They can play as the previously oppressed and the widespread race – very similar to humans, though, but they have many differences, mostly in culture, such as being territorial. They could also be expanded to be more different from humans and centaurs in terms of archetype – since (from the player’s point of view) the only similarity between the three is being pushed out of their previous homeland and being wide spread.
How difficult would it be to implement the new race from an art/animation standpoint?
The race is very humanoid, so the only difficulty would be figuring out which ones, other than that, it would be as hard as new animations for any of the current races.
Can we write a compelling story for them? What is the lore impact on making them playable?
This depends on where the Tengu are from. Canthan Tengu would be easier to write a story for them, than Tyrian Tengu. And affiliations would, at least, be limited to just 2, instead of 3 or 4 like the current five races’ affiliations.
Does the new race provide us with the opportunity to make cool skills and abilities?
That would depend on how far the race evolves and advances. And how the lore on them is expanded.
Nels the Cornwhisperer, you sound pretty certain, almost as if you work at ArenaNet, oh wait, you don’t, whoops!
I guess the only way is to wait and see, I’ll be sure to send you a message when they add a new expansion without new class’s.
Please, I would love mounts, they make your character unique and stand out and make traveling easier if you don’t want to pay for waypoints, it gives a nice incentive too.
I’m getting extremely tired of seeing silly topics begging for new classes to come, like Monks and Druids.
If they did add a new class it would completely unbalance the natural order of it all, every class you can try to add and think of already falls under the family tree of other classes. Don’t add a Ritualist because we have necromancers, don’t add a Monk because we have Guardians, don’t add a Berserker because we already have Warriors.
We have enough.
I’m almost 100% certain that the only thing they will add in the future is new explorable areas, a new race (Tengu), and new weapons.
Why add new weapons? Well, because it’s better than adding an entirely new class, why add a Druid to the game when you can give a Ranger a staff?
Before I get hate about the Tengu suggestion, the chances are it will most likely be the Tengu, they have a way of deciding on how to add new races, and they have stated before that new races are coming in the future of GW2.
If you don’t believe me, read this : http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/2094-room-for-future-races-and-classes/page__st__60#entry89820, and see how the Tengu fits all the questions more than all of the others.
I hate the sound of this, it is truly awful.
I hear his jokes are to die for!
(I hope somebody gets what I just said…)
I just got the title, very proud to have it after all the time and effort it took.
Got to say, absolutely loved this event, every single bit of it.
ArenaNet have done me and most of us proud and I can’t wait for Wintersday.
Now, let’s look at how many Emissary’s of the Mad King we have!
Log in and back out, I have the title.
I highly doubt they will add new classes, they will most likely add new weapons and give classes more weapons to use. Why add a Druid when you can give a Ranger a staff?
I support this suggestion, it would be a nice little feature. +1
I support this suggestion! +1
Your Mad King says… COWER!
[Clicks cower]
I’d like this option too, I like to know what it looks like when others target me.
1.) Give us plain capes and guild capes, or even let us make our own.
2.) Give us a skin collection place where all of our previously used skins are saved and ready to be taken out for use.
3.) Bring out more interesting and better gear.
4.) Release way more titles, they are lacking seriously, not even one title in the Slayer section or Weapon Master section, example : 500/500 kills on trolls would reward Troll Slayer.
5.) Make our titles stand out more.
6.) The Guild symbol on your chest shouldn’t be stuck to that awful beginning skin, let it be put on whatever our chest gear may be.
7.) Let us change our account name, character name and appearance (not race).
8.) Allow an achievement comparison option like in World of Warcraft, you could right click them and compare, if you can’t compare then it takes away lots of motivation.
9.) Bring an inspect option in, and a preview option on the trading post.
10.) Give rewards for certain titles and achievements, it drives us forward to do hard tasks, example: Miniature Collector, collect 54 miniatures, reward us with something amazing, like a very unique miniature. Staff Master (5000 killing blows), reward us with an awesome staff.
11.) Bring more achievements, I hate to compare but this is what WoW done right, 1400+ achievements, all of them bringing unique titles, gear, mounts and so much more, they all even had little icons for them, it was just a nice thing to do, but now we have no major motive to collect these achievements.
12.) Let us show our own name, guild and title over our heads, it’s a nice little feature.
13.) Let us shift + right click people’s names in chat and be told their name, guild, race, class, level, guild and zone.
What’s the point, just auto-walk if you can’t be bothered walking, it’s going to take way longer and it won’t take you to your destination.
Very silly idea in my opinion.
Got it, 4:00 PM.
I found that, I’m just awful when it comes to time conversions and all that.
The title says it all really.
Anyone?
Yeah, so we should be able to transmutate gear of other classes, but only if it makes sense. Soldier professions can transmutate heavy, medium and cloth gear. Adventurer profesions can transmutate medium and cloth gear, and scholar professions can transmutate cloth gear. Otherwise you’d get elementalists wearing huge plate gear, which wouldn’t make sense, but a warrior for example can wear light gear because they can already wear heavier stuff.
You don’t even need the entire title to be over people’s heads (that may clutter the screen).
You could simply have a badge for each title and be able to display 1 badge at a time (much like the explorer icon).
That sounds pretty good, having badges underneath people’s names when you target them, it could replace where the writing usually was, but instead you could have a nice little badge like the explorer one, I dunno how they would make all of them individual though. You could also just show all the titles in badges.
Target character > See coloured badges under name (Each badge represents a separate title) > Hover over badge and it tells you what it’s for.
I like it.
This is how I think it should work.
Soldier profession : Wears heavy, medium and cloth gear.
Adventurer profession : Wears medium and cloth gear.
Scholar profession : Wears cloth gear.
You may be thinking that the professions who can wear more are at an advantage, but this wouldn’t be the case, it would purely be cosmetic.Soldier profession : Wears heavy gear.
Adventurer profession : Wears medium and heavy gear.
Scholar profession : Wears heavy, medium and cloth gear. Now how do you feel about this? Thought so.
Hahahah, nice try at mocking me, I don’t and wouldn’t feel upset or discriminated against if that was the way it was. But, it would never be that way, because someone who can ONLY wears cloth does not wear heavy gear, logic dictates that someone who can wear very heavy gear can obviously wear light gear. Many MMORPG’s do this, so it’s not as stupid as you may think.
They will tell us at what time it will take place tomorrow.
You should see their name, guild, and title above their heads.
This is how I think it should work.
Soldier profession : Wears heavy, medium and cloth gear.
Adventurer profession : Wears medium and cloth gear.
Scholar profession : Wears cloth gear.
You may be thinking that the professions who can wear more are at an advantage, but this wouldn’t be the case, it would purely be cosmetic.
Okay, let’s have a discussion about gear and professions.
Thinking about it from a logical perspective, a man or woman that wears heavy armour, can also equip leather and cloth gear.
So, this is how I think it should work.
I want my Human Guardian to be able to wear a nice blue hood, so he can look a bit like a battle-mage. I think it would be great.
Hopefully some of you have similar opinions, but if not let me know.
I love nothing more in a roleplaying game than a nice battle-mage, the heavy armour, the mace and shield, the light blue hood, it’s just brilliant for me.
I’d like to wear my gear whilst having it, so it’d be nice as a skin.
You could use the skins you already have, it’s just that heavy classes can’t wear other types of gear unfortunately.
Thanks, and hopefully some others want hoods too.
I just want my guardian to be able to wear a hood, and I’m fine.
That and more skins, of course.
I’m in favour of this suggestion! +1
Okay, I’m a level 80 and wearing some of the Norgu’s light exotic armor, it cost me around 20-30 gold in total, but I managed to obtain it with the money I made from selling Arachnophobia. Now, I’ve got a nice dye scheme, that’s all fine and dandy.
But, the amount of people that look just like me is a real shame, so many people wearing exactly the same gear, and it’s not like I can change it to something completely fresh either, the skins are pretty disappointing, and I don’t feel unique, nor do I stand out as an individual.
So, my suggestions as to how we could feel more unique.

13.) Let us shift + right click people’s names in chat and be told their name, guild, race, class, level, guild and zone.
Thank you for reading, and if you have any suggestions of your own on how we could feel more unique, feel free to comment and I can add it.

I made this suggestion back in the beta phases, guess they didn’t take a shine to it.
I’d love for fishing too, but, not sure that many people are bothered unfortunately.
Guild capes are one of the main things I want, yes please!
(As long as you let us dye them, change the borders and design it)
I actually agree, I think you should be able to transmutate any type of armour irregardless of your profession. Is it just me who loves battle-mages in RPG’s? Heavy gear, blue hood? I think it’s awesome, I’d love to do that.
I’d like this too, I’ve seen this suggested many times, whether they’ll implement it or not, who knows. They don’t seem to take on-board what most people suggest, we’ve been suggesting stuff in the beta phase and it still hasn’t made it in.
BLTC preview was suggested way back, so was this very suggestion, loads of stuff were, they’re real slow by the looks of it.
