“I wasn’t directing my response at you—it was directed at everyone who seem like they’re screaming “No!”.
The only “argument” someone could come up with would be because having mounts is fun, it adds more creativity to the game—there could be a questline to get a mount based on your decisions, it makes it quicker to travel across the lands rather than wasting gold on the waypoints, and most of all, it’ll make the nay sayers mad.”
Fair, sorry for assuming. But yeah, you have the right idea. Not all will agree but if enough people do than they might be added. I’d be all over having to do a questline to get a mount.
“Becuase I like them” is a good argument, lots of people do. ANET would listen to that.
I don’t have any friends that play this game who are overseas, but I have played games with friends from Europe and have had to pick server regions and it is not fun. Picking between who you want to play with is never fun, and I believe the spirit of the server share was so everyone could play with their friends without servers locking them in place. I know it’s probably very technically complicated, but I agree, we should be able to join our friends overseas.
I never said I was against mounts. I said I was against people using really poor excuses to have mounts. Someone comes up with a great argument for them, than I bet ANET would listen. If people keep trying to use the “every mmo has them” excuse they probably wont. You want mounts? Make a good argument.
Mmmm, I’d be all over that. It would be great to be able to have your whole guild in on something. Or well, either that or a cluster of mayhem which can be fun too. And the whole dynamic thing seems to be their theme. If they can manage it, than awesome!
(now if crafting a legendary were more dynamic…)
Rangers can use the most weapons am I right? Why not give them the whole shebagn, rifles, pistols, hammers, mace…make em weapons experts too. That would be kind of neat.
So, what I am getting here is, you want the end story to be in the story (which is your own private instance), with your friends with you, killing Zhaitan…that’s um…that’s a dungeon my friend. Unless you don’t want your friends with you. I don’t see Zhaitan being defeated with just you, I mean, I for one expect other players to be needed to take him down. What is the difference between a private instance and a private instance that happens to be a dungeon?
Oooof, yeah sounds complicated =(
Yeah, your analogy was pretty bad.
I apologize for my ignorance, but what is “culling” exactly?
Saying “Oh every mmo is the same why not make them all the same forever” is really not a convincing argument. Ever.
All I am saying is the game doesn’t need them, seriously. Cute and fun as they may be, I never negated that. And using other games as a reason to allow them is NOT an actual valid argument. You should be thinking of why it would be good for the game, not others.
So why do you want to keep the trend up?
Fair, but I guess you haven’t been there with only 2 other people at the Temple of Grenth actually making a dent in him huh? Overall I guess it depends on what time you are on. Not all events are press 1 to win. I’ve done a lot with only a few people where we had to be very careful and coordinated and it was challenging and fun.
This game is not any of those games. Same point about WoW goes to those as well. Your argument is invalid. Stop trying to make this game like every other MMO copycat.
Player housing would be fantastic. I’ve yet to see a situation where it would be a bad idea, and some level of customization would be great. Now, as much as I LOVED playing Skyrim: Hearthfire where I had to craft everything in my home…I’d rather not do this here on top of trying to craft a legendary. It is a nifty idea but I am not sure how popular it would be. Instead, ANET could make certain features unlockable or buyable in the GEM store. In the holiday events we can have fun craftable decorations available (like the toy pets). It would also be neat to have a private place to hang out with other players, just for fun, and even show off trophies or armor/weapons you happen to like the design of.
Yes, the pop up is annoying. It also is delayed. i once got all the way to the crafting station and went to craft, not knowing why I couldn’t until I exited out and say the stupid popup. GAH. Small complaint but it is the little things that make you wanna rage ><
I think there already is raiding, in a nontraditional sense. The real time events in Orr ARE the raids. The only issue is not allowing more than 5 people into groups to be able to keep track of each other (well you can but it costs way too much gold). All those large events at the temples? Those are the raids. This is raiding in GW2.
I can understand wanting something that feels a little more concrete, but I personally like it as is. To each their own and whatnot.
I’d like to see a nature based class too, where ranger is more hunter/beastmaster which is cool and all but not all out plant nature-esc. I would however like to see a whole new class on the subject, something released at a later date. That would be neat.
I understand the spirit of what you are suggestions and I approve, however I feel that adding ranking would turn this game into a quick DPS/gear snob fest. Next thing you know people are gonna get kicked because their dps is marginally not as good as the others.
Yeah, I have to say that would be really nice. Also, give us some customization options for our screen! Sometimes people just wanna place things in a different spot…
Yes, mounts can be fun and they can add the element of collection to the game. My husband actually stopped playing because he couldn’t collect his “shiny ponies.” But you know what? I’d rather see them do other things that would add a lot more fun and emerson. To those comparing this to WoW, stop. Right now, just stop. This is not WoW. Deal with it. Just because it works in WoW does not mean it is right for this game. Your argument is invalid.
Guys, the monthly achievement is just a challenge like anything else in the game. You do it for the reward at the end, mystic coins and karma. There are other ways to get both, like doing the daily which is far easier. You don’t even have to DO the jumping puzzles, just find them. What is the big deal here? No one is punishing you or preventing you from getting anything you couldn’t already get by other means.
I’m glad I’m not the only one confused by this. Thanks all for the suggestions!
I’ve been crossing my fingers for Skritt as a playable race next in line for development since I began playing! I am all on board with this.
Yeah I don’t get that either. I mean, they can even add another row and it wouldn’t hurt. Small gripe but it is one I think of every time I log on.
I like what League of Legends did, allowing people to rate each other either positively or negatively depending on how they play. Each player with very high ratings them get a mark next to their name and kind of automatically earn the trust of the team. Maybe it could be adapted?
In general bad mouthing in online games is an overall problem with the culture. It’s hard to change, but it doesn’t mean we should say that’s how it is and give up.
I respectfully disagree. I have no problems finding what I need on the map. On occasion that last point of interest will be difficult to see but I think of it as part of the challenge of getting zone completion.
And by Hoply 3 do you mean tank/dps/heal? I disagree with that too. The amount of cooperation between the classes and everyone pulling their share has been a fantastic experience for me in the game. Losing one person in a dungeon isn’t devastating like losing a tank or healer in other games, and that I approve of.
Well with that option i also hope there’d be an option to keep them all anonymous because I like the anonymity. It gives the game a certain feel, like in real wars how often did the enemy know your name? Most likely they didn’t. It’s the whole “faceless enemy” thing. I dunno maybe it’s just me but hey, I guess options would be nice anyway.
Spending money on gems kind of the point. It’s how ANET gets money for the game. How else would you suggest they make money other than forcing a subscription? They can’t make this game awesome on peanuts.
I don’t get it, isn’t the whole point of the profession having a pet? That’s the only reason I made my ranger. I guess I am in the “strongly for” category?
I guess my question is, what is it about ranger, other than pets, that you really like that is key to the profession that other classes do not have? I am genuinely curious.
I’m currently at an extended stay hotel for a while and have no control over the wireless. Nothing has changed, everything worked fine since launch until, yesterday. I have no idea why but now I can’t play the game for more than 5 minutes before I get kicked.
Granted I am playing on a different internet access than usual and I had to confirm in my e-mail to allow my account to play here. Still, checked the firewall, nothing. There’s no Norton on this computer, just Microsoft Security Essentials. Tried restarting as well, didn’t work. The front desk says there is currently absolutely nothing wrong with the wireless, apparently I’m the only one having this issue.
Running on Windows 7. This is my husband’s computer so usually he plays on it but he’s been getting the same issues too on his account so I doubt it’s because I’m logging into a different location.
I did try as many of the suggestions as I could (can’t do anything with the router or wireless) and nothing’s worked. If anyone has any more suggestions that’d be wonderful. Also I really hope that AreaNet sees this and responds. From most of the comments it does seem like it is an issue on their end but even if it is not maybe they can do something about it regardless.
Oh yeah, also I play from the US.
