We should stop arguing and focus on what is really important right now.
CHOOSING FA’S NEW NAME!
I feel it’s important to celebrate fort aspenwood’s new era with a name change that reflects the new reality of the server. So here are my suggestions:

A) Fort Janthir
B) isle of Aspenwood
C) Maguuma
D) Bandwagon of Janspenwood

When you think you’ll find yourself free of IOJ, they all become FA…lol
Hopefully we’ll see some new faces on Dragonbrand.

Did IOJ guilds moved to FA?
I think I saw that IOJ guild which tried very hard to confusion bomb at FA today.

Good thing FA finally woke up, wvw was getting so boring, wish we could keep this kind of action for the whole week.

Don’t think FA was focusing IOJ, honestly. FA was fighting CD everywhere!
Anyway, no offense to both servers but I hope one of you goes down, just for the sake of having a new enemy. After 4 rounds fighting the same people, it does get pretty boring.

When Aspenwood got it I was like “OK we lost they’ll be able to defend it for a while!” but, surprisingly enough, we had it back 20 min later.

I think Hek is loving to respond to those flamers, I mean, if IOJ wants to be the magooooooOOoooOooma of tier 3 why shouldn’t we allow them?

This Ocean person is really mad at CD….. Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

I can help….. Cuz that was me on my gaurdian, and that was hilarious.

A little background of what happened before the video even. I started my gaurdian alt over the weekend but my frined, the tiny FA asuran thief that you can see in the video, has just fallen in love with playing thief and we both WvW together every morning so I figured what the heck, I’ll WvW with my gaurdian even though its only like lvl 25 or so.

Your charr buddy, he whooped my butt handily a few minutes prior to our dancing. So, having just died I respawned with my asura thief buddy and we went back to the tower where your zerg was assaulting but your guild was pretty much sitting on the rock. And i couldnt resist. I waved, he waved… and it was on. The armor came off, and as soon as I got on the rock and started dancing and wasn’t immediatly killed, I was having too much fun to stop. And when his charr knelt down, it just looked too cool to sit beside him, I was in pain from laughing.

I was surprised it went on as long as it did before someone killed me, but knew it was over as soon as the zerg came out of the tower. And I understand, you couldnt have your server finding out about his true FA love.

Thank you for the excellent video. I have checked this thread in the off chance that someone was recording.

Great night for CD, started pushing FA in EB, made it to Veloka with 10 ppl and held it for like an hour! Then IOJ and FA pushed our lands and we had a though time defending, after some deaths and amazing escapes from green and red zergs we managed to get our land back. Then wiped the enemies out of CD borderlands, got SMC and messed around a little at FA bl. CD is always strong after a reset, hopefully we can keep this up along the week this time…

Was the RET guild in the invunerable spot behind redvale refuge in CD borderlands attempting this a few minutes ago? That was quite a hilarious try! I kept downing that ele commander but she would mistform back to the invu spot… Hope you recorded that.

You have to be in a really asinine zerg to get kittened by this, I mean, even if you do get hit, one healing rain should be enough to get you back on your feet… Don’t think anet will worry about it.

I wouldn’t call this the beginning of the end, really. It looks powerful in the vids, but I’ve seen this live and all I had to do was warn my zerg about it, once people knew they started dodging, interrupting and stuff.. We could even kill the eles trying it because we knew they’d be throwing themselves on us. It’s a moderate risk tactic that pays off when you’re fighting unaware people.

Anyway, you can do that on keeps/towers in which doors have that little open space on top of them, since catas/invaders are usually positioned directly behind the door you can select and destroy them.

You don’t need to “place” the aoe for that skill, just need to have an enemy selected on it’s range. Every scepter ele uses this and quite frankly complaning about it when you’re using a cata behind a gate doesn’t really makes sense to me.

I usually log out every time there’s no one on our team around to rez me, and that’s 99% of the time. Get out of the keep. That arrow cart you just built in aoe range isn’t going to get you any badges. Those trebs hitting the walls down below 50% uncontested while some troll spams repairs after repeatedly telling them not to do it aren’t going to help you hold the keep. I don’t know what game you guys are playing, but mine is all offense. And logging out on down.

shed run into a HUGE mob of us, kill 3, and manage to escape while 4 others are about 1 hit away from death as well(this is every 30 secs or so!)… tho someone DID kill you at LEAST once, since i got a loot bag on ya

^ Don’t think the problem is necessarily with the people, but I don’t think ele sucks either. Thing is, it’s a difficult class in an environment of easy-peasy ones, playing elementalist isn’t always a joyride, add that to a few bugs and nerfs here and there and people will have some fair reasons to complain. My suggestion is for you to get to know the class better, look for guides and etc… That’s what I did in the beggining and now I find myself very often being the top player of a match, doing good at dungeons, etc..

This build is in no way overpowered, it has it’s ups and downs like any other build and, on top of that, takes time to master. I can log on my mesmer, copy any given build and do very good at it, the same doesn’t apply to elementalists, you have to actually PLAY this class to be good at it. Just look at how many details Excala goes into in this build’s thread: camera angles, terrain, timing…

In my opinion, overpowered is something that will get you excellent results without time, focus or dedication and that clearly isn’t the case with this build.. So yes, we may be top players in pvp/wvw now.. but that is the result of an actual effort.

If you’re playing bunker ele then killing 2vs1 isn’t really a problem, I’d say try to put them into as much conditions as possible and mistform away if things get VERY ugly.

Was just in pvp after the update, didn’t notice a big change for worst in this build… I guess staff eles got it worst.

I don’t see how this would harm the game, I’ve always wondered why we do not have it. You can say that I’m lazy, but this would make it way less annoying to change weapon.

200 condition damage is nothing. A single dodge into a fire field with Evasive Arcana will give you 105 condition damage and 105 power for 26-34s (latter with boon duration runes). In addition to the attunement specific Evasive Arcana effect.

But I could still stack might (17+) on top of all the CD I had (I was using an amulet of the shaman + some condition runes) and since I had nice defense and healing all I had to do to stay alive was remove conditions. It feels slow compared to the original build (swiftness and fury do not last as much), but the damage output was very nice, I was killing people with earth 1 spam lol, not to mention the amount of damage fire 2 was doing. But as I said, I couldn’t kite as much.

Your build is amazing! I belive it’s core (healing + boons + removing conditions) can be used in many other builds. Do you think the arcana evasive is really necessary though? I did some tests in which I got even more CD and it really speed up the killing, I was running 0/10/20/30/10 with different runes, I couldn’t kite a mob of thieves as I could when using your original build, but the damage done was enough to kill 3-4 players everytime I jumped into a mob.

I honestly like them, and I even shout some in real life when I want to create real awkward situations…..

Depends on what are you doing on your ele, really. Today I was testing a condition/toughness/healing build in pvp in which I just had to jump in a mob, use bleeding and burning skills and people would fall, killed a guard just by spamming earth 1! Sure it’s obviously better to run around keeping yourself safe, but it gets boring sometimes, so I guess an ele that stands still is perhaps a valid option… Or perhaps I’m just a Lola that doesn’t run.

But… it’s so empowering…-!

Thanks to DH and Yak’s for the fun this week, I’m glad that none of the servers gave up and we kept a good fight going on until the end! Hope to fight you guys again soon.
