@Xsorus; I guess my build wasn’t so special after all haha. Never seen your vids before, great minds think alike

so this is what I’ve been using lately. I was bored and looking for something different and it’s been surprisingly successful. Your goal is to play smart and daze often.
There are a few synergies here. You have reduced cooldowns on both weapons so you can daze more often. The asura racial here actually triggers the GM skirmishing trait which is nice. I sometimes swap out the last BM trait for the pet specific ones; if I’m in a group I’ll bring some moas, you can give your party a huge vigor uptime with them. Solo I’ll sometimes use the spider/dog one with a cave spider and a wolf or fern hound, but you can easily use whatever pets you want.
Feels food to swoop on in, hilt bash someone and follow up with a massive maul. My only gripe is that the attack of opportunity granted by moment of clarity can easily be lost with the sb, it’d be nice if the effect lasted for 3 or so attacks or something. Your pet will always make use of it though. As should generally be the case with any ranger build, you’ll be hard to kill.
Anyways, maybe someone else will find this interesting. If you do try it, let me know what you think. Peace
Lots of immature posters in this thread. Hope this change goes through
This has been going on for a long time for me. Guild wars 2 causes severe lag across my whole system. It happened with windows 7 and again with windows 8. I can play other games online without a hitch but GW2 will even cause me to drop my network connection altogether.
you hit the nail on the head when you said the time investment is getting out of hand. I don’t see myself playing this game for very much longer in it’s current state. Grind for gear to not be the weakest link in my group? Sorry, too familiar. This is what I was trying to get away from.
At least there are some good games/dlc’s coming out this month.
maybe you should quit playing it. I don’t really care either way. These posts are so whiny. Take it at face value, play if you like it and don’t play it if you don’t. Just quit with these doom and gloom posts
if my group is heavily support/control oriented I’ll use this build, no reason not to, although my go to set is full clerics/shouts/hammer
for making a great game
why do you not believe we will see fixes when the devs have said recently, on multiple occasions, that fixes are in the works?
or you could just find another group, go do something else or visit the guild recruitment forums to find a guild that actively does dungeons. Basically anything other than trying to stir up internet drama.
I hope we get to see more stuff like this in the future. Best feeling I had in a mmo was reaching the top of that tower!
if you change the end game focus to raiding then it devalues everything else, that’s just how the mmo mentality works. Thankfully, GW2 is trying to break that mold by providing a little bit of everything with an emphasis on having fun whenever you’re playing your character and not having fun whenever you’re just “end gaming”
Play with an ele and blast finish their water combo fields. Thieves can do a pretty crazy amount of healing with a water field and shortbow. Find more ways to heal.
If you think it’s dumb to have to have someone else around for this to work, you wouldn’t heal without other people there in wow either so it’s no different
wow, the majority of posters in this thread need to relax. I play a ranger too and of course I can see what’s not working properly, but you should play the class because you thematically enjoy it and not because it’s the fotm/quasi-op class.
calm down and let Anet do their job. They said change is coming and they even told you when it is coming, that’s more than enough information.
Here is what the devs have said repeatedly in the past. The one time event is just that. My guess is that the mad king appears andc something cool happens. There is no achievement linked to being at that one time event. you don’t miss anything you can’t YouTube later. The phase then lasts until the end or the 4th phase if there is one, I can’t remember exactly
Its completely up to you whether you spend money anymore. I dont know why this post warrants a whole thread to itself?
He wants his post to be seen. His point doesn’t warrant an entire thread to itself, he just wants it to.
And the only thing that I think ANet should have improved upon for this event is say that there would be “A small chance” for a skin rather than “A chance”
There is a reason lottery tickets and casinos don’t state the odds on their games when you play them. Figure out how much you are willing to spend and spend it. Welcome to the real world.
That feeling of getting to the top, honestly, is worth it
This challenge is utterly perfect for the whole Mad King theme. I hope it never changes
entitlement, maybe
Anyway, I agree with the OP. Anet gets it, they stuck to their vision and it shows. Kudos

let’s not forget the score of useless skills GW1 had as well. Not saying GW2 is “perfect” but let’s take off the rose coloured glasses
well, “Shake it Off” breaks stuns, also if you don’t like “On My Mark” You can run “Fear Me!” if you’re afraid of thieves stun locking you. You can also switch to rifle if you haven’t and toss them away/cripple them. They pistol whip and use something, you break the stun and fear them and depending on the situation you can run or initiate them while they have an initiative disadvantage
do you understand how gold selling works? They use the hijacked accounts of normal players in addition to hundreds of other accounts that they have networked. When an account is hacked they don’t just take it over and play for the lulz. They sell all the gear and incorporate it into their network.
It’s virtually impossible to track every account. I don’t think that you guys realize how large of an operation it is. Banning an account does nothing, it’s like a hydra, 2 more come up in it’s place. Would it be fair for John Doe who had his account stolen by a gold seller to have his account perma banned? You have to cut it off at the head which is what the DR system is in place for. It’s better for it to bump up against players at first than to be lax to gold farmers/sellers first, trust me.
I use sword/wh with rifle offset and it’s amazing. perma swiftness and good mobility, works in pve and pvp.
That….didn’t help at all, regardless of what you guys say now it was admitted before that the system is bugged, I understand the need to stop botters but your methods in doing so are hurting the player base….I feel restricted in some ways knowing I can’t go to a level 80 area kill mobs in hopes of getting some decent mats or loot. So yeah this isn’t fun at all.
how did it not help at all? He explained why the system is in place, that it is too harsh for people who want to farm and that they will be adjusting it. What did you expect?
I would much much much rather play a game for an hour or two a day and have fun while doing whatever else I wanted with my time in real life/in game than grinding for a few hours for a bracer that I will just replace (wasting all the time I spent to get it) in a couple months.
lol, sword + horn trumps GS any day of the week
Having a guild helps. I’ve never had to wait outside of a dungeon for more than 10 mins to find a group
Why endgame PVE feels like a boring standstill (and what can be done to fix it)

Dgenerate, you serious with the “good games don’t thrive off good gameplay”? Did you even read what you wrote?
Players who can’t get a sense of enjoyment from the act itself rather than the reward will not be happy with this game, it’ll never be what they want. Comparing the design philosophy of this game to wow is comparing apples to oranges.
Do you realize that you don’t have to level in the zones that your personal story takes you? If you’re level 40 and finding the content difficult, go to another race’s 25 zone and finish that. You’ll get a few levels out of it, karma, and lots of skill points.
I can see where you’re coming from, but you’re only level 19. Combat gets more interesting when you have all your slots unlocked and a few traits unlocked. Combat in GW2 is fun because you can customize how you fight.
You have to find out what makes combat flow for you. Personally on my warrior, I use a sword+horn and a rifle. Even though my rifle is my “off set” there are lots of times I use it more often than me sword in an encounter. Since it bleeds, it’s nice to open with it, use the most damaging abilities, switch to sword and close the gap with the leap and keep stacking bleeds. Combined with the traits that give +bleeding duration and +damage to bleeding mobs, it’s very effective.
You don’t have much to play around with at 19 but it does get better. That being said, if you’re bored you might want to try a different class. I had to do that until I started this warrior, and some of the combat I’ve experienced in this game has been miles above anything wow had to offer in the ~7 years I’ve been playing it.
It’s kind of lacklustre. The poison ability has a built-in dodge which is handy, and the animation is pretty slick, but the throw is kind of weak. Having another ranged ability take up a slot on a dagger is kind of a waste, to me anyways.
what about the people who enjoyed Mass Effect, endings included?
if this game doesn’t meet your personal tastes in games then you don’t have to play it. I don’t see how this is a hard concept to grasp. You’re not paying a monthly fee, you can always play when you’re not bored of it/they introduce some changes you find interesting.
“Hold the Line!” has no audio component for female sylvari, male norn and male human
As the topic says, the guardian shout “Hold the Line!” currently has no audio component for sylvari females
I guess it’s busted for sylvari females then :/ shame
So unless there’s something I’m missing, “Hold the Line!” is the only shout I’ve encountered that has no audio component, at least for sylvari. Not sure about other races. Is this intended? I understand that it’s a minor issue, but it seems strange and kind of breaks the flow for me.
the carrot in this game isn’t anything “tangible” in game, it’s how you have fun playing your character rather than gear/being uber powerful. Also, there is a strong pvp presence in this game (much more so than wow) that is intended to keep people interested. It’s not wow and whether that’s a good thing or not depends entirely on your own personal tastes.
To be honest I am glad there isn’t spectacular loot and I’m glad this isn’t going to be a carrot on a stick where end game content ultimately winds up being a few dungeons that you run over and over just to get a few pieces of gear a few points better than what you had before. I don’t subscribe to better gear being “content”, and lets be critical when we talk about memorable boss fights, when was the last good one you had? I have to go back to Karazhan myself. Everything else has been lackluster, even Arthas.
mine would be c’thun. Content in wow was fun the first time I did it. Doing the same thing every week, exact same mechanics, rotation etc.. it’s very boring; ok the tank split mechanic is this, dps has to avoid x while killing y and the healers heal. The end. Every time. For a piece of gear that makes a marginal difference.
It’s relaxing to be able to play a game and have the actions be the fun part and not the loot. Playing games for the fun of it should be it’s own reward, not phat loots.
