To be frank, it does. It implies that you’re in WvWvW for a reason not intended by the designers AND of no assistance to your world. Try PvP.
Maybe youre to busy dry humping some gates to realize this, but PvP happens in WvW… So ill stick with what I enjoy thanks. SPvP is watered down garbage with no diversity, ill pass.
The most important part of the buff is the points on staked player.
If you are in a Borderland you will be wanting these points for your team.
Don’t forget this, if you get the buff taken off you will not be supporting your server.
Seriously, when will people get it through their thick skulls people play PVP games for the PVP. something that takes skill and timing. Its why dueling in UO was so popular and gw1 lasted so long. Zerg v Zerg and PPT running requires no skill, is no fun and doesn’t do anything for the continued future of GW2. Even with adding new content to WvW weekly people will get tired of it and search for something new. Siege warfare is not the end game. Its quite frankly the most boring part of this game and the week when siege was bugged was the most fun anyone had since release.
This next week will be the end of GvG as we experience it today (not willing to say that the scene will be dead but who knows what might happen!?) At any rate lets make this last week one for the books! I know my guild GF of ehmry bay NA is putting challenges out to all comers and already have confirned upcoming matches vs [Agg] and [ARK]. Sure this game type may be called WvW but that doesnt mean there isnt an abundance of non WvW related activites that take place here IE people grabbing Poi, SPs, gathering nodes, doing a fight club, trolling around with a tonic, etc etc. None of these things contribute to your PPT which you seem to have such a massive erection for. I don’t see how having a GvG is manipulating WvW to anyones advantage.
You can get SPs, POIs, and gather nodes while participating in WvW. Most of them are at, or very near, other objectives. Getting POIs and vistas usually involve capturing the structure where it’s located. This is also a very short distraction for a single player, not 40-50 players distracted by a large scale battle. I can mine a node in a matter of seconds, how long does a GvG take?
Those were simply examples I gave. You also have people roaming for fights that arent taking objectives which also uses up slots in your precious queue as well as people randomly dueling etc. How long are those people going to sit in a BL and take up a slot that one of the mindless zerging sheeple could occupy? So a GvG takes approx 1 hour, and the moment its over those people involved shift focus to either roaming and supporting the WvW war effort or they log off.
If each server has 1 stack of bloodlust, it should not adversely impact gvg in a meaningful manner
yes it will require some co-ordination cross servers to make sure that the buffs are kept that way during the gvg ie notifying server commanders that a gvg will be going on from x til y and the buffs will be reset, and returned to the way they were pre gvg event when it is finished
but if guilds want to gvg when the new content comes out then they are going to need to communicate with their servers so that those who are in there to enjoy wvw can help accommodate those that wish to gvg
I love gvg but people who are in wvw to take objectives etc etc shouldnt be forced to focus their efforts on keeping the buff just so someone can GvG.

That is exactly what it is. This is a small part of the community with some very vocal members that seem to think their needs are more important than want Anet or the majority wants. I do agree that the upcoming bloodlust buff is bad for everyone, but core problem is the players expecting WvW updates that cater to something that was never supposed to exist.
GvG doesn’t bring anything to WvW other than entertainment for the guilds involved. Having the ability to disable the bloodlust buff would be pointless for a WvWer. There is no reason why I would ever want to intentionally lower my character’s stats for WvW.
Anet made their stance on the guilds’ lack of a role in PvP clear long before release. Why would they want to make changes to encourage GvG matches that can negatively impact WvW?
I can respect what you GvGers have created, but some of you need to understand that what you’re doing is using a game mode for something it is not supposed to be used for. You can’t expect Anet to cater to your community when it brings no benfits to, but can potentially harm, the much larger WvW community.

Anet really needs to address this. It’s a community made PvP arena that’s somewhat underground, and has that many people interested in it. If they made it official only more people would join in. This has never happened in such a large scale in any other MMO I’ve played. How can they just ignore it?
In all honestly it’s amazing it even works now. Though at anytime people can mess up a GvG, it rarely happens. There’s nothing from stopping the people watching from jumping in, or the other people on map coming to screw with it, but it doesn’t happen. In general It’s respected by players and to me that level of cooperation in a online game with little to nothing being said is amazing and demands attention from the devs
I do agree that Anet should embrace the idea. There is a community with a strong desire for it, and they should get a dedicated place to do this. Some of the GvG community needs to realize this, though. Stop worrying about so staunchly defending your presence in the WvW maps, and push for your own game mode to be added.
If that does get added, you’ll have a place to do GvGs in peace, and still be able to WvW anytime you want. It’s a win for both sides of this.
The real problem is that 9 times out of 10 the devs completely ignore the player base whennit comes to things we would like (unless its PvE related). Not to mention even if they did decide to finally make a place where we could GvG, we are SOL in the mean time.

I don’t do that though. I used to roam a lot in small groups and solo. But then I realised it’s really nothing else but trolling rookies and avoiding enemy zergs, perhaps flipping some camps and killing a couple of cows. Pointless when you find even fights against skilled opponents much more easily from fight clubs.
Well my good man, i can’t argue against that. Some of the best fights ive had in this game have been at fight clubs.

GvGers follows the same principle as PvE Raiding in other MMOs, follow the lead, spam AE, rely on mass boons from up to 24 allies… Sorry thats`s not PvP, try gain, when you`re capable of focus targeting, assisting, interrupting, communicating key skills, etc pp. You GvG guys amaze every day… an endless stream of tears and whine combined with an absolute deluded ego that`s blind for reality.

Are you kidding me with this post? You realize PvP stands for player vs player right? In a GvG players are fighting other players therefore it falls under the realm of PvP. Just because its something you dont enjoy some how makes it a less valid form of PvP? How about you take your kitten poor attitude towards other players and the game modes they enjoy elsewhere.

We have WvW raids every day for 4~ hours…so do most GvG guilds.

Every GvG guild I have come across regularly raids in WvW. My guild GF, NS, kitten , SIC, RET, Agg, vH, Omen, EP, Rekz, qT, AoN, and the list goes on and on and on. Just because your personal experience was poor doesn’t mean thats the way it is across the board.

Upcoming match for my guild starts at 3 AM GMT! This is the #4 slot NA vs the #14 slot NA (hard to get top gvg guilds from our current server Ehmry Bay). At any rate im excited for it and hopefully some others on here are as well.
As an ehmry bay player, when im not busy getting a 200000:1 k/d off SoS while fighting zhaitan I enjoy mocking people because their server has Aussie peak coverage. And if im not doing that well then Im probably just doing what I can to stroke my flimsy ego. Im also probably running away from things because im a GF necro and this WvW enviroment is big and scary for little asurans like myself. It’s not an easy life, or even the best one, but it’s all I got people…

Yeah, Never happened. The only people who beat us even numbers (was a 5v5ish I do believe) was WAR on BP, and we played that one pretty poorly. Kept single streaming in on them and dying like n00bz =\. For the most part “EVEN NUMBERS” doesn’t exist in this match up. It’s small group vs large group. Large group vs Larger group. Massive Group vs an entire BL… etc. This romantic notion of an even fight should be pushed out of peoples minds. kitten doesn’t exist. (Save for a random 1v1 you might have.)
EDIT: Not trying to take away from WAR in this statement. They played pretty kitten well in the instance im talking about.
I’ve played on both US and EU servers and the style of play is very, very different.
In US, the PPT meta rules and it’s what most of the top servers care about (thank god my server loves open field combat and PvP instead of PvDoor!). Capping camps before the tick, havok squads, scouts babysitting structures and exploiting your opponents coverage gaps are fundamental aspects of the meta in US. It’s kinda sad when an enemy zerg with equal or greater numbers run away from fights because they “contribute nothing to the score”. In US you get all the metagaming stuff like spying and sabotage as well. You can find fights going on in all corners of the map.
In EU, it’s all about the fights and the zergs. Almost to the point that you lose fully upgraded keeps because no one scouted it and you’re outmanned in your home map but have a queue for another map. The fights are awesome though. In Seafarer’s Rest, the militia are almost as coordinated as the guilds and even militia zergs play like Red Guard. Heck, every single guild in SFR (and most of our opponents) plays like Red Guard. The zerg fights are really fun when both sides are skilled and organized. Most EU servers prefer running one huge zerg per map with perma swiftness to cover all ground instead of multiple smaller zergs like in NA.
The above is just a generalization based on my experience. It’s not to say that NA players don’t like the fights (there are some…) and that EU guys don’t scout or run in multiple coordinated zergs (I have seen them do it during peak prime time and on reset). Some select NA servers can field gigantic zergs that put the EU ones to shame.
WvW in a US server is like fighting in a war.

Out of curiousity. If anyone has played on botg EU and US servers would you care to shed some light on the differences between the two? I’ve heard US prefers to butt hug towers(generally personal experience) where as EU is more about the open combat and GvG
AR and BP are so boring.. i’ve been PvEing all week. I feel ashamed.
Then stop roaming in 10 man groups and make 2-3 player group like a man.
Seriously tho, Before getting into this match up, I was looking forward to fight BP again and the new Ebay.
I thought Ebay had a lot of roamers, including GF, Sekz, PK and more.
But sadly it was all lie!!!
Sekz are a zerg. Each time I had the pleasure to fight them, it was like 20 vs 3. So I never got to fight them in small skirmish. I fought an Elementalist in BP low land once from Sekz, but I was running my confusion build so he died, as confusion is OP in WvW.
I thought Sekz had some roaming team? Where are they?
PK is another zerg. I have yet to fight them in a small group. Just yesterday, they actually stopped, stacked then charged 20 of there player just to kill me and a warrior. I doubt you needed to stack for that, or maybe we were just at the bad place at the wrong time.
And finally GF, the only guild that looks like a roaming team. But they are more of a Zerg buster team. They are too many for our small group, yet they aren’t a zerg ether. We had some fun fight with them, but I have to bring more people to be on equal footing. We actually helped WAR fight you guys yesterday and it was awesome.
This week is so zergy since the patch. Good thing st least we can see them without culling.

It has been a long time since I saw a server that could have so many people in a map! And you use them well too! I’m not sure how we are still holding only 10k behind
I think your best feat is to be able to load 2-3 large guild in the same BL. Meaning you can achieve attacks from multiple points, and add a lot more strategy.
Been a really cool match up, I hope we can keep it close so we can play 2-3 weeks without being bumped in the snore fest that is tier 6.
I didn’t find many roamers yet! I think I’m ether unlucky or I don’t play in the good time.
I walked upon two guys from GF, a mesmer and a warriors. Sadly I was really bored and was using a 3 turret static discharge build (oh my). Was still a nice fight, but let’s just say it’s not the most useful build for roaming.

Possibly me! I usually use my mesmer for roaming around since my necro and warrior arent the greatest classes to use for it =( my necro is by far my favorite but i always get mobbed on by like 5+ and dont have any real good escapes to deal with it

I’m originally from HoD pre-release when we were untouchable. That’s exactly what my group of people ran on a regular basis, and quite frankly it was silly seeing how potent it was. I know you’ve been on the receiving end of high stacks of confusion, you made a; “nerf this” thread about it.
I had a group of people I convinced to play GW2, who ended up quitting because of stupid queue times, and the glaring reality that GW2 was not ready for the eSport scene. They all went back to play competitively in the games they made a little bit of money in like SC2, LoL, and a couple FPS games.
So being stuck alone, and solo I transfered to Anvil Rock so I didn’t have to deal with the queue times.
I didn’t start that thread on confusion, I participated in it. The discussion was about GF/ECHO. I’m not sure why you are bringing up things that they don’t do. They don’t do 25 stack confusion bombs. The most I’ve seen them stack confusion to is 8 on an initial hit. They are not running a full confusion bombing group (they run a fairly balanced group), so why even bring it up?
From my experience, with 10-15vN fights heavy-hitting direct damage has been more effective than trying to set up a confusion spread. Yes, a confusion spread is devastating when you execute it but it’s harder to setup and not as reliable as a direct damage bomb, IMO.
I think confusion is much better (and probably too good) in smaller scale fights like a 5v5. It’s just not reliable enough for fights against 15+.

To all of the Ehmry Bay that were in Eternal Battleground for the last few hours, amazing fights. I can’t remember the last time I had a fun long fight like that. First time commanding in eternal, couldn’t ask for a better time! Oh and to the Devona’s Rest in there, the times you showed up, even though you were outnumbered, were fun fights as well. Finally ran into ADBStyNoQQ, you guys know what you are doing and i give you props for running into our zerg and trying to take us out. Looking forward to more fun fights out of you all!
