I’m going for Carrion Accessories and Weapons and then Rabid Sets for Armor. Imo you need some balance between stats while keeping Condition Damage as high as you can.
This gets me around 18k HP. enough to survive wvw along with that toughness you stacked. Btw do you know which runes you are going to use?

I have not looked at runes yet but here is what I was thinking.

this is for WvW btw..

rabid gear (from dungeons)

carrion trinkets and weapons (from crafting)

sigil of earth (for bleed chance on crit)

runes (undecided probably something with tons of condition damage and not duration)

shortbow for ranged bleed/poison
sword/torch for melee poison/burn

survival skills: 3 out of 4 of the traps, all 4 are good but flame/spike trap for sure then maybe viper/frost trap for the 3rd.

Trapper’s Expertise/Trap Potency/Sharpened Edges traits. Maybe Keen Edge from power. Maybe some wilderness survival for increased survivability since i will be using close combat traps and sword/torch.

this looks good on paper, but is it viable in WvW?

I have no problem with all the FotM SB Rangers rerolling Warriors. Then maybe their forums will be flooded with whining instead of ours.

There are TONS of other Ranger specs that are all viable and fun.

Not really in pvp, pets are useless in pvp for the most part especially in wvw. And pets are supposed to be a mainstay strength of a ranger, with out their pet they are just a weaker version of a warrior that has better ranged tools/dps.

Without a pet let me know what makes a ranger a ranger.

Hogwash. There are PvP viable Ranger specs that DON’T revolve around SB. Second, pets are not useless in PvP despite what everyone says.

Try playing a spec focused around your pet and traps. You’d be surprised how much damage a pet can do to an immobilized/slowed opponent.

Again your assuming the opponent is stupid/bad.

Stun/snare breaks and people that kill/snare your pet.

If your pet cant attack or hit them you got nothing while they beat on you. Again your relying on a broken mechanic that requires someone to be utterly stupid.

You’re wrong on several levels. If you play poorly, yes, you probably won’t get much mileage out of anything but a SB build. If you’re standing around relying on your pet to do all the damage, then maybe the only hope for you WAS a pre-nerf shortbow build.

The strength of the Ranger class is it’s versatility. Not sitting around spamming abilities from one weapon and activating QZ every 45 seconds. That’s bad play.

If you’re playing against skilled players and you use your abilities effectively, you can play one of several abilities, including a pet focused build because your opponent is going to be controlled by YOU. You don’t sit around and wait for your pet to do all the work.

Not sure if you play a ranger but pets don’t attack moving targets that well.

inb4 “learn to cc” – not gonna happen with enemy unroots and condition removals.

there are no rich ori veins in game… at all… and should not be (at least not until 81+ locations introduced). If you’ve seen it – it was probably visual bug.

The only Rich Orichalcum Vein in the game is in the WvW Jump Puzzle at Eternal Battlegrounds.

the chest piece DOES hide the CoF shoulders, but if you unequip the chest you will see the shoulders.

another known bug since week 1 that anet does not care about.

I would be very happy if the longbow got a buff for the next patch, it really could be an amazing weapon if they took “40ms” off the current attack speed.

I just mined 3 orichalcum total from a Rich Orichalcum Vein inside the Eternal Battlegrounds WvW Jump Puzzle on JQ server. What’s up with this anet? Is this an attempt to slow down the progression towards legendaries? Or is it just a bug and you guys are already working for a solution for this?

Not sure what malice is, and that didn’t really answer my question on if I want more power for auto attack damage or more precision for bleed on crit (sharpended edges + sigil of earth) or a mix of both power/precision from carrion AND rabid.

I’ve never done a Borderlands jumping puzzle before. I heard you get badges from then, so I decided to try. I obtained both keys in the Kaineng Borderlands and tried to open the vault and it would not budge. This happened to at least 3 people I know of. I went to see if the Mistwrought Vault on a different Borderland was working, and it appears it is broken as well. I destroyed my keys from the Kaineng jumping puzzle and obtained new ones from Devona’s Rest Borderlands puzzle, and the 2nd vault wouldn’t open as well.

I’m not sure if it was working pre-patch or not as this is my first one on the Borderlands.

It was working pre-patch, of course the developers always break working things with every patch. Anything to slow down the progress of legendaries.

Door is broke on all 3 borderlands that I can access, JQ, HoD, ET and will not open for anyone with both parts of the keys.

Anyone have any insight?

Sigil of rage is not good on a crit build imo. The bleeds will lack condition damage.

I use sigil of perception in the mainhand axe and sigil of accuracy on the offhand horn for my crit build.

Debating on full Carrion gear, or Rabid armor set with Carrion trinkets. Not really considering Rampager unless you guys vote PRECISION over POWER in ranger condition skills, in that case I would consider Rabid armor with Rampager trinkets.

So basically would a ranger benefit from having more POWER from the Carrion armor, or having more PRECISION from the Rabid armor?

(This discussion is not about Toughness/Rabid or Vitality/Carrion), as either will help survivability.

Hey robert, you know what really sucks? When you do dungeon runs and as soon as the boss dies you get vote kicked.

I’ve been told that the warrior is the same as a ranger but without the pet and has a little better utility, have not tried one yet but soon I probably will stop playing ranger and try a warrior.

Never attempted 3rd path before today, but it was not bugged at all. Which part are you talking about?

We did not have a mesmer, we had 2 thiefs, 1 warrior, 1 guardian, and a ranger. And I didn’t record any of them, I don’t do that kind of stuff. Path 1 boss took hour-hour/half, but we finally just reset him and zerged him down to the ground with melee not even 25 stacks could regen his life.

Just did all 3 paths with a nice group, we stayed together after one path then we decided to do the other 2 paths. On path 1, the last boss we just dps’d him to the ground without targeting any crystals, magg path was easy like always just kite bomb room, 3rd path we did excellent the group instantly res’d anyone who went down and we pretty much “multibox’d” every enemy down with melee teamwork. Our group was incredibly sync’d by the 3rd dungeon, but these are pretty much not for PUG’s at all. Just wanted to post to let other know this is very very hard, but is possible. All together took around 5-6 hours. It will be shorter next time because we know the strategies.

Btw, got 60 tokens each time, other in the group got lesser/different amounts. I will attempt this again tomorrow and hopefully I get the same amount.

They do not stack, and you do not aquire the correct amount if you want to do 3x paths of all 8 dungeons daily you are severely punished. Yet alone I feel sorry for the soul who takes 750 of his old tokens and 750 of his new tokens and tries to purchase an item and finds out they do not stack/work together.

No but I get the “Invulnerable” when shooting them with the bow if I’m on a different surface, but still “eye” level with the enemy.

Anet does not have the ability to “restore” karma/gold or rollback anything, so they say, but they know how many items you bought for 60ish karma exactly and how many times you’ve exploited cof LOL.

I’d go for toughness. Defense is more important.

An example is Become the Bear – you get a massive HP pool, but it gets cut down VERY fast due to the form’s almost non-existent armor-rating.

very good example, i’ll try Knight’s trinkets before Carrion/Soldier/Valkyrie and see if I like it.

Specifically PvE, but I don’t really see the difference between pve and pvp in terms of should I wear soldier’s or knight’s gear in certain slots instead of berserker gear.

^ Cannot stow pet after fall damage or if pet attacks/gets attacked by something because you are “in combat”, another terrible gw2 mechanic.

Same thing happened to me, I put the pet away to do a jump puzzle so he wouldn’t draw aggro and first time I take fall damage or get hit he comes back out.

There needs to be a way to disable it if you don’t want to use it.

I went all berserker gear in every slot and I am a little squishy, sitting at 15k life at level 80. Also using Sigil of Bloodlust and Runes of the Scholar. Pretty much straight glass cannon.

First question, do I want toughness or vitality, or both?

Second question, which gear should I change out for Soldier’s, Knight’s, etc? Really torn between Soldier’s and Knight’s, anything else doesn’t really fit for a non-condition ranger.

Third question, would all berserker gear with Runes of Divinity be better and maybe switch both rings with Soldier’s and both earrings with Knight’s make me happy with the stats? I don’t want to lose a lot of damage but I want to take a few hits.

Not sure what the point of this thread is for but I will join you and say I have the 6-piece CoF Berserker armor and after they do some fixes to the dungeon and rewards I will be going for the CoF Rampager’s 6-piece set

Edit: I re-read what you wrote and from what I understand now bleeds cannot crit but you cause bleeds when you crit using sharpened edges and sigil of earth.

^ I went with a berserker set and thought about going for a rampager’s set instead.

This kinda steered me away from it and now I can focus on some type of defensive set like soldier’s or knight’s, thoughts?

I’ve heard of people finding the black moa in-game.

Why would you want precision over power when going condition? What good are the crits if you have low power?

I don’t think they will ban people for it, they learned there lesson last time when a bunch of people chargedback, and then they didn’t want Kripparian to make that chargeback video so they made things right.

I did not ask for a kitten restore, I want my serial key, and I want to know if my account currently has e-mail authentication activated on it. And if not, how do I go about adding it (it does not ask me to activate it when logging onto GW2).

I am with the Vigil and their set is Power/Toughness/Vitality and it is about 9 gold for the entire armor set.

You cannot craft Power/Toughness/Vitality?

It seems like everyone I talk to is using Power/Precision/Crit, is this the best?

I get owned in dungeons but I thought about switching to something with Toughness or Vitality, but not sure if I will be too weak going Power/Toughness/Vitality or if I should just pick Toughness OR Vitality.

Thoughts? Feel free to include weapon choices along with the certain stats you prefer.

I don’t keep emails after I read them, I figured I could view it on their official site just like every other major game. Didn’t think I would need it because I could digital download again, but I need to include the serial key when sending a support ticket.

I pre-purchased the game and just went on playing, I did not write it down because I figured I could view it somehow on here but I cannot find it. Can someone please help? I need the serial number so I can submit a ticket with a email verification concern, thanks.

The reality is that attackers are not using brute-force methods to obtain credentials. They already know the credentials, because they have them from other leaks and breaches from around the internet.

Can you explain this a little bit more? Are you saying people got keylogged on Mustang forums and a hacker is thinking, “Maybe he plays GW2”, and tries the username/pw?

When on your friends list it says:

Does this mean you have them added but they do NOT have you mutually added?

Also when on your friends list it says:
“johndoe.7890
Online
(Does NOT display character name like normal)
Level 80 Warrior
Fireheart Rise (Jade Quarry)”

I think this means you are mutually added but what about when it doesn’t show their character name and the account name is greyed out but still online?

I don’t expect to see any major revamps until the first expansion or major content patch.

I really want to make this this feature is enabled on my account, how can I check to see if it’s activated?

When I log in GW2, I do NOT get a message asking me to verify my account. I check my email address often too and I do not see a bunch of spam messages saying my account was trying to be accessed.

If the LFG was cross-map but not cross-server, at least let the player type in a description like “CM exp” or “CoF story”.
