Warrior has pretty much only one “strong” setup in terms of damage at that’s GS. We can’t burst like that with any other weapon save for a very glass cannon MH Axe/Rifle build.
I will say though that I recently made an Ele just to see what the skills were, yeah that class is not just a make one to level 2 and hop into PvP class. That was -awful-.
I run a rifle build which can burst for about 17k over 3 seconds, comes with 1600+ toughness, 20- 22kish HP, and 2 defensive utility skills. It’s no glass cannon. I think you underestimate how well the class can perform in a wide range of builds.
And then someone with a brain rolls through your volley and you do no damage. Also the Rifle burst is probably the most telegraphed move in the game. As long as people aren’t asleep at the wheel it can be easily avoided as long as they see you.

To be honest you are going about the wrong way. You can’t think of yourself as a point defense because in order to succeed your role has to be dynamic. You have to cultivate map and point awareness and know when to back off.
If the enemy is zerging heavily you shouldn’t just stand in the middle of their zerg to give yourself a few extra seconds of point control. The reason there is such a zerg mentality going on in sPvP right now is because people don’t yet understand that to counter zerg they need to divide and conquer rather than face the zerg head-on.
Conversely you have to know when not to abandon a point. If the situation arises where you know you can take on a couple people without becoming a martyr (as you should be able to considering you are defensive built), then by all means do so.
Remember, you are not helping your team by waiting to spawn.
People DO know how to beat the zerg. The problem is that you get more rank and glory for NOT playing the right way and just smashing faces. I’m all for that, just not when I’m trying to play an OBJECTIVE based map.

Was testing this out last night, trying to have a balance of offense/defense but with the Hammer/Mace/Mace I need a team to take advantage of the CC I give out. I don’t have a 5 man team I run with so I have good games and I have crap games. I change builds and weapon sets pretty much everyday, yesterday I was having fun with a glass cannon Axe/Axe/Rifle.
A class that can go invis to avoid a 4 second window of damage explosion doesn’t have issues killing them? Well that’s surprising…
Brb..teaching my giant Norn Warrior how to go invis at will.

I actually just went back to a Hammer/Mace/Mace build that I used waaaay back. I use stability stance on all builds. I haven’t used endure pain in ages, CD was too long for my taste.
Are you saying that theifs speccing glass cannon HS are taking PvP more seriously than a Warrior that doesn’t take endure pain or a weapon with a CC?
I’m more concerned with the fact that 80% of lighr armor looks hideous.
And those masks…what…just..WHY?
I mostly PvP, but on the times I’ve tried to level I find it to be very annoying. It seems the main source of PvP is storyline quest or looking around for events. I don’t like having to walk around looking for events and hoping they’re at a stage I can join and still get decent exp. I want to just kill crap on my own or something.
PQ’s didn’t go over well in Warhammer, I don’t really care for them much here either. Thankfully PvP is seperate heh.

I don’t think anyone can deny that this game is very poorly designed in rewarding defensive playiing. I think they should increase the bonus for killing on a defended node to 15-20 points instead of 10.
Perhaps also a a 5pt for dieing while defending or something.
I originally wanted to say that you should get a passive like 3pt tick now and then for standing on nodes for defending but this would encourage botting more sadly.
I would not like this for the simple fact that once a server rotation gets to Capricorn I leave because I detest that map. If I had the option I’d join servers that didn’t host it, but I don’t. I don’t feel I should be forced to play a crappy map, so I leave it.
I don’t know why people come here and post their super awesome counters to these builds in ideal controlled 1v1 setups. You act like I haven’t already had to use my 2 rolls and my stability to stop something else. There are 4/7 other players to deal with at any given time.
Not everyone is running a build with CC weapons/utility either.
atm joining tournaments solo is just stupid… dunno what anet was thinking when they thought “hey lets que randoms vs teams”
I dunno, probly the same thing that Dota, LoL, HoN, WoW etc etc thought when they let people queue premades in the same pool as solo queue players?
Guardians have better sustained but I’ve been ripped apart by some Guardians now and then wondering where exactly the damage came from.
Sword/Shield and GS setups can put out some surprising pain and offer good defense too.
We have a pro team? All I know is Anvil Rock get’s stomped on in WvWvW.
I’d rather it just have 3 maps.

i very rarely die to someone due to their quickness burst so i’m going to have to go with no. it’s really not that hard to avoid if you know what do look for. and if you’re the type of person that is going to rage quit pvp because of it then you are probably not going to be satisfied no matter what because there will be a ton of things that always own you.
Please stop acting like you don’t die and get blown up by the random Warrior or Theif popping up from behind you because you were busy dealing with their teammates in a team based game and get destroyed in a few seconds because of quickness.
I don’t rage quit. I just know a bad mechanic when I see one. There’s always those people who come onto the forums and are like “oh it’s for noobs only etc etc” yet there is plenty of evidence to the contrary if you do any tourneys at all.
Burst will always be king in PvP. Frankly, I’m amazed that Mesmers aren’t packing the AoE quickness elite more than they do.
Quickness adds nothing of value to this game. All it does is take TTK down way too low to have any sort of enjoyable fighting experience. Yeah, you can dodge it in a 1v1, I’m not talking about a 1v1. I’m talking about team environments. Someone drops 1 CC and your stability is on CD? Dead.
Games should not be like that.
Took me forever to realize that my stability wasn’t doing jack against immobillize. I kept glazing over the tooltip because I see “immune to all CC” and I’m like oh good, see ya immobilize.
Wronnnggg. Have to blow a condition remover to get it off. The worst one are thosekittenentangling roots though, if you don’t roll out immediately after scrubbing the immobilize you just get stuck in again, so annoying.
I think this ability is actually the true cause of all the QQ and crappy cookie cutter builds we have floating around currently.
Without Quickness, HB, HS, PW etc etc would not be an issue, they would just be solid strong skills that can be focused on in a build to maximize their damage.
Burst is already pretty ridiculously strong in this game atm, why ANet would want to give teams/players an ability to do it even faster seems like a bad move. I think removing Quickness, or at the very least nerfing the speed increase(maybe 33% instead of 50%?) would do way more for the current game than nerfing HB’s or HS etc directly.
