Hammer lacking?

my BIGGEST issue with the hammer is: its horribly anti-climatically tiny. the head of the hammer should be semi obnoxiously huge, not like a hammer you’d buy from home depot.

— anywho, i like the hammer. aoe damage like a boss, knockback, and stun.

80% of the PvP Hammers look like absolute garbage, it’s a shame. Hell, alot of the Maces have as big or bigger hammerheads than the Hammers. They look so dinky in the hands of my giant hulk sized Norn.

I am dissapoint.

Good Synergy between GS and Staff?

I’ve personally never seen how Staff/GS work together, at least in PvP.

Staff is weak dmg, condition based supporty stuff. I find if you’re going to use GS you’re probably going to be stacking Power, so you might as well make the offset make good use of it.

I enjoy Sword/Sword or Sword/Pistol myself.

I use that trait as well, 3 back to back 2 condition removers is great verses condition builds.

3 heals back to back can save you many times.

3 short stabilities are good, you can pop this without interrupting stomp as well, I always use it to stomp.

The only pain is after dieing/starting a new match it takes forever to put all 4 back on lol.

Ok so I play a Hammer/GS Warrior with:

26k HP
3.2k Attack
2.1k Toughness
3.3k Armor

I am not a glass cannon.

I run Bulls Charge, Balanced Stance, For Great Justice, Signet of Rage with Healing Signet. I also have 6/6 Dolyak for regen and regen based on Adrenaline level, passive healer setup heh.

I’m able to survive Theives for awhile now, HS spammers are probly the easiest. However KILLING one of you kittens, especially ones that don’t use HS seems to be getting harder and harder.

How often can you guys evade/go into evasion? I feel like 50% of my attacks are evaded or miss.

How often can most of you go into stealth? I know one of your heals goes stealth so thats what, ever 20/25 seconds? What is it where you guys disappear in a cloud of smoke at a certain health point?

Is there any way to shut you down during the elite spin move?

Just having a really hard time nailing you guys down and killing any of them. I don’t know where the misconception came from that you guys are so squishy, you’re not and the evades and stealthing make up for it quite nicely.

Have a heart and help a lumbering hammer wielding oaf out.

I run a glass cannon GS/Sword/Sword spec. 4% extra damage with each mantra running, I healing, nuke, stability, condition remover. I sPvP mostly. Damage potential is pretty nice, iswordsman can crit for 4-5k by himself and 4.5-7k Frenzies from me. That’s not even counting GS skills.

I think they are fine and do the job they are meant to do. I’ve been able to clear conditions out the wazoo within seconds thanks to the mantra which has one me some fights.

I blow up but it has less to do with the mantras and more to do with me being well, glass cannon heh.

Mesmers cannot mindlessly spam phantasms…they have 12-15 second cd’s. They do an attack once every 4-5 seconds. Pay attention and dodge it or destroy them if you can. Spotting the real mesmer with phantasms is easy, they look like ghosts and only ever do 1 move.

I run a glass cannon 4 mantra build. We’re not all the same.

Also Time Warp>Moa all day.

I play a Hammer/GS Warrior with 26k HP, 2.1k Toughness, 3.3k Armor and 3.2k Power.

I can survive theives for awhile but the problem is nailing them down. The good ones have way way way too many attacks that allow them to evade or move around too much. Add in 1-2 stealths to give a minor reset in the fight and it just becomes a headache.

Trying to land Hammer moves on any Thieves who aren’t braindead HS spammers can be such a pain in thekitten They need to pop out of stealth immediately after taking damage too imo.

Mesmers are only a pain if they are tanky built, otherwise just find the one that’s moving around and casting things you know the phantasms can’t cast.

Healing signet works fine in PvP if you’re built to be tanky.

Full 30 in Defense, toss on a Soldier neck and rock around 2k Toughness and 3.3k Armor, have regen from Signet, regen from Adrenaline levels and if you want you can toss in the rune set that gives regen with 6/6.

You can survive for quite awhile in fights actually. I mean if you’re being focused by 2-3 people yeah you’ll probly die but I mean at that point none of the healing skills are gonna save you heh.

Nah, WoW still has the biggest group of losers that I’ve seen. Nonstop kittening(sometimes guilty myself if my team is just -awful-) etc. The only reason people don’t quit in droves is the debuff.

I actually think it’s better to let the quitters come and go, when a quitter gets stuck in a game they turn into a kittener. Rather have silence.

I think the warhorn turns people off because it offers no offense at all and both skills have what, 20/25 second CD’s? Just feels like a situational swap weapon more than a keep it on weapon.

No enemy cast bars, the enemy HP Bars/Status bars are at the top of the screen which is terrible because I have to actually watch their character for dodging etc.

Having to watch the characters to see what they are doing instead of having ez mode cast bars telegraphing it to you is what they were aiming for.

Cept moves in this game have the most subtle animations ever. I’m talking about knowing what to interrupt or dodge.

Cast bars aren’t that big of a deal, what I really need is buff icons above their heads instead of at the top of my screen where I’m not looking.

I thought this was going to be about addons for customizing things.

I really really need a customized UI, this one is terrible. No enemy cast bars, the enemy HP Bars/Status bars are at the top of the screen which is terrible because I have to actually watch their character for dodging etc.

If there’s ways to move this stuff or turn on buff/debuff icons to display above enemy heads please tell me, I need it badly lol.

I can’t say on the thief thing, but I know that my glass cannon mesmer can hit for 3500-4k with the 3rd downed state attack illusion. Some of us are nasty on the ground. shrug

If you want to complain about grinds go do sPvP. Upgrade your looks maybe once every 10 ranks, people who have been balls out playing are still only in 30’s maybe 40’s. Ranks increase quite a bit too.

Longbow is exceptionally good in a team environment. Burning damage can crit and arcing shot can consistently crit for 4-7k every 10 seconds.

Adds great randomness to your teams dmg output (I’d run it longbow / axe-horn)

However, rifle is also strong in single target dmg and you’ll start a FAR greater chance in a 1v1 situation with a rifle.

Pretty sure Burning, along with any condition based damge, can’t crit at all. News to me if Burning is special.

Longbow is shorter, trust me you’ll feel it if you keep using both. There is a trait to increase Longbow range, although I don’t know how far it goes to. I assume 1200 though.

The problem with taking so many physicals is though that he is susceptible to CC himself and conditions would just keep stacking up pretty bad. I can’t give up Balanced Stance regardless of what build/weapons I’m using, it’s just needed too much.

You could get the rune set that makes shouts remove a condition. Then you can scrub 2 with shake it off at a time. As for priorities…

Bleed/Confusion/Burning are the only real damage ones you have to worry about. I wouldn’t freak out and scrub them off though until the stacks get higher or you see them unleash their biggest stack builder(for example a Warrior bleed after/during a Flurry burst, or after the Necro drops a bunch of crap on you etc).

Immobilize needs to be removed only if you’re melee/in serious danger of being dogpiled

The rest are meh, Blind only lasts one swing, Poison damage is weark but it does reduce healing but most people aren’t healing that often anyway.

Chill can be really annoying but it’s rare to even have that condition anyway.

Weakness causing the fumbles(glancing hits) can be bad too but most are short duration and you can just play defensively until they pass and then unleash your rage on someone.

Just my thoughts.

This build’s probably really crappy without proper team support. I run Hammer/GS tanky build, I love the Hammer but it’s really meant for use in supporting a team in a team fight. If your team isn’t making use of the openings you give them you’re better off just going for a real burst build or something.

I have been thinking about running multiple physicals though, perhaps I’ll try it tonight when I get home.

For wahtever reason I can’t edit, but I wanted to say that I had dabbled with the regen rune set before and I wasn’t impressed with the passive regen on it. I think I settled on the Undead rune set instead for good condition damage and extra toughness plus 5% toughness turning into condition damage which was good as I had 1900 toughness.

I ran a bleed build for quite awhile before using GS/Hammer tanky build I have now.

I ran Sword/Sword with Rifle though. I found that it was easier to survive by jumping in, getting a good amount of bleed rolling and then swapping to rifle, using the knockback and kite them with snare while building up more bleeds with the Rifle 1 attack.

I wouldn’t care so much for damage but I would like a healing one. Considering this game doesn’t have dedicated healers per say I would like to know what I’m contributing if I’m attempting to do so.

we need damage meters. i NEED to know how much damage im doing so i can compare them to other spec’s damage.

How does this make me braindead? You should be able to TELL how much damage you’re doing, LOOK AT THE NUMBERS. I can’t tell how much healing I’m putting out on other people. Even if numbers fly up there’s tookittenmany. There are dummies to go test on in the mists, use them. The reason we don’t need damage meters is because that’s pretty much what everyone DOES.

Either you burst or your condition. That’s about it. The cookie cutter builds have been around for quite some time, you’re not going to magically stumble on some powerful build, it’s all been tested.

The fact that you mentioned a damage meter already indicates perhaps you’d be better suited to PvE, there is no way to meter or tell how good you’re damage was in PvP because it’s too sporadic and random in fights.

The point of having more jewelry is that you’d be able to actually customize your stats more.

As it stands now your stats are from three places: Base, Traits, Neck. You could say runes but they are pretty small.

The neck is the highest chunk of stats your character will get. If they were to break up the amount of points the neck currently gives out, lets say 750 in 3 stats for sake of arguement, to 3 pieces instead of one, this would allow you to mix and match stats over 3 pieces instead of having to heavily invest in 3 specific stats because thats just how the neck is.

At least the leaps stil move you to pretty much on top of what you wanted. The point of this skill is not the movement but the stun, blowing this thing is huge. Messes up a whole CC chain that I use to focus people down. All the skills need fixed asap.

If you want “twitch” use the mace MH and sword OH. Give you 2 parries and an interrupt. Of course, this game has no cast bars so interrupting something important is…difficult. Also get yourself a single target stun, link that in with an axe/shield or something for more interrupting with shield bash and some damage from an eviscerate. Hammer would be more control but it’s slow and wouldn’t fit a “twitch” playstyle.

At least you keep your points, just ignore playing the objectives and follow the herd owning eachother. You’ll end up with 150-250+ points regardless of being swapped. Win is only worth 45 and that’s only if you played enough of the match.

I’m not trying to be top of anything, I was really interested in the rank 30 gear cause it’s new and exciting. I actually don’t want to play the game anymore as it’s become a hardcore grind and has too many issues. Of course I expected there to be some sort of grind, as that’s what all mmo’s have. I don’t think I’ve played 1 with this sort of time requirement just to hit max rank, which does absolutely nothing for your character but give different pixels.

Borderlands 2 comes out tomorrow, btw. woot.

I imagine my warrior will stay in Pit Fighter gear for a loooong time. Torchlight 2 comes out this week as well.

because pve need grind, pvp need skill

a cooler looking noob(not personal offence sorry) is worst than a default skin pro player

That made no sense at all…if PvE needs the grind then why is it 10x faster to max out than PvP which should only need “skill?”

I have no doubt there will be armor/title rewards specific to an actual RANK, not this rank that we have now, based on tournament wins etc that will let the “good” PvP’ers stand out from the crowd. Why make the standard PvP gear be such a retardedly long grind?

I think the banners feel weak, reading the tooltips anyway. I’ve never actually used them though so I don’t know.

I think the shouts and physicals are fine, as are most of the weapon skills. The thing is we’re just not a “flashy” class. Warriors usually never are, we’re just there to pound the crap out of someone with our barehands/weapons with no magic etc.

If you build likekitten expect to play likekitten

There’s a trait in the discipline tree that makes movement skills break immobilize. Take it. GS gives you 2 outs, Hammer(what I use) gives you one, Sword would give you another one on short cd.

Stop building glass cannon. I run 27k hp with 1.9k toughness and still have 3200 power. I don’t kitten on people but no one kitten’s on me either. Thieves and mesmers have to work to get me to go down and I can pound on them for quite a bit.

Try playing a support role, we actually do good. Take the warhorn and shouts, spec up to healing shouts. Team will love you.

We have options, use them.

I run a tanky Hammer/GS build and rely on the Hammer alot for teamfights mixing the GS in when the Hammer skills are on CD and to give me some extra damage potential.

The problem I have with Hammer is the burst skill has a -terrible- time trying to hit people going down a hill/ramp. You fly through in mid air instead of towards the ground and it seems to have a 50/50 chance of actually causing a hit on your intended target whether or not they were in the AoE radius.

It drives me nuts. I can’t sit there and hesitate thinking “They’re trying to back out of the focus, I need to land on them and keep them locked down, but do I risk blowing this 10 sec cd or go for it and possibly get a stun.”

I’m also on the fence about being interrupted during the animation, I swear I can’t interrupt thieves during HS spam with the Hammer knockback but I don’t know, it’s so hard to tell what goes on during combat sometimes. This isn’t really that big of an issue for me, just annoying heh.

At this point I feel like heroic leap in WoW is working better than this thing, please fix it if possible.

I haven’t cried at all about the skill, nor did I say I die to it. I don’t. I beat 100B warriors back when i was using Dual Swords condition build. You’re assuming. I believe we know what happens when you assume.

I was pointing out Quickness as being the reason people think 100B’s is so baller when really it’s just decent.

Here’s a few answers that I think would teach many people about the HB situation and how to get over themselves:

  • Frenzy only lasts for 4 seconds every 60…avoiding the warrior for 4 seconds isn’t hard
  • Frenzied warriors take 50% extra damage…CC and kill them
  • Only players who don’t pay attention get rolled by Hundred Blades
  • Have skills/abilities to negate CC
  • Warriors relying on CC+HB+WW are usually weak as hell
  • Cry less over being a weak high-damage build

Pick your poison.
Frenzy was already nerfed. Its possibly the worst way of getting quickness in the game. Deal with it.

Why are you posting like a pompouskitten I play a Hammer/GS warrior with 27k HP, 2k Toughness and 3200 Atk. I run Stability in every build. I don’t care about 1v1’s. The problem is when it’s a coordinated team burst. Quickness makes reaction time incredibly small and 60 seconds isn’t that big of a deal. Hell I can almost get an entire HB’s off just in the span of a Hammer stun and I don’t use quickness at all.

You also act like a GS glass cannon Warrior isn’t going to pop stability while they do their combo either so they can’t be interrupted.

Okay, I’m going to break it down:

1) Many warriors don’t use a greatsword JUST for hundred blades. Most weapons have skills that will hit for much more on a certain skill.

2) Given that wielding a big long two-handed sword is cool as all hell, expect to see it as the main weapon

3) I am assuming you’re talking about PvE. Everyone knows a GOOD warrior, will swap between different weapon SETS (i.e. go into their actual inventory) if the situation calls for it. For example, upon doing Catacombs runs to get my Ghostly Greatsword, I had a hammer.

Why? Because of the knockback that renders breeders and howlers totally useless.

Need to kite? Longbow.

Need to gain distance and get back quickly? Use a sword. I also see people using an axe as their offhand, simply because it is great for AoE.

The thing isn’t even that great, despite it’s name. I struggle to get more than 5 – 6.5k without criting with my 100b. You see, using 100b leaves you COMPLETELY open to damage. You get routed. Most times, unless someone else is taking aggro, you can’t afford that.

Fight a champion on your own and tell me how good 100b is.

Go to structured PvP and tell me how good it is, when you get an ele dragon toothing your face in. First thing I would do if I saw a warrior and knew he used 100b + stun, (because I would after seeing it the first time) is drop a high damage AoE DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF ME. upon seeing him.

100b is fine.

Sword/Sword/Rifle works fine in PvP, optimal? No, but it’s doable. I ran it for awhile, focus on condition damage and defense. The goal is to outlast. You may want to save the OH Sword bleeds for slightly later in the fight, people will try and scrub the early bleeds. Once you see bleeds drop off, pop em and your burst skill and stack them right back up. If you’re fighting melee then swap to rifle, knockback and cripple. Kite while bleeds drain them.
