Hi All;

I am an experienced PvP player. Rank Dragon. Can play full support Ele (Auromancer build), Bunked Druid (S, Sw/D), and Mes (Sw/Sh, Sc/T) in order of preference. I am a mature team player and I never rage! I can use TS for communication as well. I can fluently speak English and have elementary knowledge of Deutsch.

I reached T5 Ruby last season while unable to find a team and going through the win/loss soloQ horror as such. Therefore, desperately looking for a team. If your team got a spot for any of the above three classes, please give me a shout ingame, pm me or write here.

Why. Why is this even a thing. A group of two, fine. A group of three, kind of pushing it. But a whole group? Seriously? What the hell? That’s hardly fair. I’m not sure what the devs were thinking. I can understand guild missions and such, but honestly having a whole team of guild members is just ridiculous.

Is there a way that Anet could separate these things? Like putting premade teams in a separate queue so we don’t waste my time on that kind of bullkitten? Or limiting the amount of people in sPvP premade teams into no more than two or three?

I hope Anet does something about this. I like the game and all, and yes I know that in this game pvp will never will be balanced (ever), but at least make an effort to show that there is something to be done to keep the imbalances in check.

Also, it doesn’t help that some people didn’t buy HoT. You take it up the kitten unwillingly if you didn’t buy the new expansion.

This is the exact opposite that should happen. PvP is a “TEAM GAME” not a solo PvE crap where you can roam and don’t care about others. It is a team game and should be played in premades and not solo! So instead of creating stupid threads asking Anet to not allow premades, you should rather not play solo or just stick to unranked or PvE things.

Polls are fine but Anet needs to understand that instead of players modifying their approach and direction towards PvP development, it is Anet who should direct their players to the best way they can offer their product and gradually players will fall in line. For this they need to apply basic logic and do things which would justify the name of the game, ie “Guild Wars”. So they need to ensure taht “Guilds” actually have wars, be it WvW or Ranked PvP games, with PvP specific rewards, PvP specific motivation, separation from PvE and lastly removing soloQ in Ranked games and keeping it only for Hotjoin and Unrankeds.

The developers definitely need to work towards a direction where people play Ranked only for the love of Ranked system and specific honours associated with it and participate in it as a team member rather than a solo hero who cares less about the team. Anet need to take away any sort of PvE achievement from Ranked games and keep the reward tracks only for Unrankeds. This will hugely benefit the PvP community, without harming PvEers at all.

I again agree to your point where the PvP development team certainly needs to work on the MMR system appropriately. If they do, this will address a lot of issues, however in addition to this, they need to prevent individual players who don’t care about the teammates and want to play as they themselves wish to do from destroying the core essence of team play. If it is a 5v5 mode, the entry needs to be in that mode only as a “team” rather than bunch of individuals who are clueless about others.

If Anet implements this and simultaneously work on the MMR system then we all will see, how enjoyable the PvP experience becomes as such.

Hi guys, I have been searching for a PvP guild for quite some time but to no avail. I wish to find a guild which regularly runs PvP premades and is have 4-5 teams where guildies are playing together. Continuing to use both PIP + MMR is going to be yet another epic fail, leading to countless of pointless blowout matches + MMR hell for some. You should either use random selection within PIP range or MMR only for balanced matches. The player base is way too small to make anything else work. Also the current scoring which rewards 499-500 and 0-500 loss the same amount of PIPs is a fail, because it leads to many players quit after just 100-150 point loss at start. Season 1 had problems, but had way better scoring system.

False, every other team game in the world allows you to enter as a solo player.

What you mean to be asking for is in-game, automated tournaments, because you need a system that supports the entire population, not just the 30-40 people that are online and have the time to make and coordinate a team.

The idea is to remove barriers of entry and increase the accuracy of sorting and ranking algorithms, not increase the barrier of entry to the point where it effectively kills off 99% of the population of players while dissuading new players for entering.

Well your point is certainly valid where Anet’s PvP development team certainly needs to work on improving the algorithms of sorting and ranking, but at the same time, they have to work towards the direction where a game mode is being played as it should be as such. If soloQ is removed, it will better the entire community of true PvPers actually. Because see, there is a very simple example, a player can be kicked from a Dungeon party if he/she is not doing well or a player can leave a party if that party is bad etc. But the same is not possible in PvP as its a competitive mode and people will end of losing pips/tiers etc. and remain in a win/lose cycle because they are bound/forced to play with players who wants to do what they want rather than what the team wants! That is not what a 5v5 or 10v10 game mode should be, isnt it?

Having said, that Anet can think of developing different modes where people can just simply 1v1 or max 2v2 and be happy and no bothering playing in teams.

Not necessarily. Atleast for me it would kill any desire to PvP. Im a solo player at heart. And while I have entertained the thought of fighting as a team. And even have joined a couple. Ultimately my playstyle works best when I am self reliant. And I contribute more to the match when I am not worrying about what my team mates expect from me in each individual fight.

Which means the number of parties I can join is MINIMAL as the likelyhood of there existing a team where I can maintain my playstyle and level of effectiveness is almost zero due to how the GW2 combat system works and what teams in gw2 expect from certain classes and builds.

So for me atleast. The removal of solo que WOULD infact signal the end of PvP for me. And likely signal the start of a large reduction in the time I spend in GW2. Ultimately leading to me finding a game where I am not restrained simply because I don’t want to be chained entirely to the expectaions of others in HOW I do my job.

If the GW2 community ever becomes results driven (That it was accomplished is all that matters not HOW it was accomplished) instead of mechanics driven (How you do something is more important that succeeding). Then it might be okay for me.

But that isn’t going to happen.

See I understand your point and I am sure there would be a lot more players who would think the same. However you need to understand that PvP is a team game at the end and as your statement says, that you want to play as you want rather than what your team wants, eventually fails the entire concept. Also saying that a competitive game mode should not be result driven is contradictory in itself. What else should it be driven otherwise!?

Having said that, the game has Unranked system where there is no need for teaming up and you can enjoy your mechanics and not care about the results. For Ranked games, it has to and should be a team game in true sense.

The Pip system is more of a grind and luck rather than skills. To seriously develop PvP, the concerned team needs to understand that PvP is not a solo game rather a team game and that is how it should be played. Therefore, you need to remove solo queue. Players who wish to play PvP have to enter in a team of five as premades. You may keep entering in team of two and three but then the matchmaking needs to be that such teams don’t meet a full premade.

Seasons so far have resulted in matching solo players against full teams and there most of the time, the team compositions decides the game even before the start of it. Therefore, establishing the simple rule of players playing PvP have to enter in a team of five will solve all the above problems, because people will form teams and use class combinations accordingly besides, players will team up with players as per their skill sets.

Please think about it and hopefully try implementing the same. You will see that PvP experience for the most of regular PvPers will drastically improve and become enjoyable.

Lastly, please remove PvE loots from PvP or at least from Ranked games. This will help keep PvE players away from destroying Ranked games and improving overall experience for all.

A lot of the above issues will get solved, if Anet dissolve SoloQ in Ranked games. Ranked games should always be in full team which will mean people will fight in Guild teams or with friends whom they meet over hotjoin, Unranked or anywhere else and like to play with as such, and in fact it will actually add to the value of the Game’s name as Guild Wars. SoloQ is more of a lottery and nothing else…and PvP is and has to be a team game.

The company just needs to delete SoloQ system and ensure that players can enter Ranked games only in full premade. This will sort most of the things out coz people will then try to match up and play closely with others players based on skill levels and experience.

Thus SoloQ should be for Unranked while for Ranked it has to be at least in full premade.

I am a decent DH player and can also play Shoutbow/MM to some extent. I am looking for a decent PvP guild/team. If anyone needs a DH please post it here or wisper in-game.

Getting ‘stuck’ in ruby is a very important topic regarding how best league should operate. We changed matchmaking to make the ladder more prestigious and so far it has done that. Divisions are aligning with skill level much better than season 1. The product of this change is that the bulk of players who hover around the middle of the mmr curve should stay in sapphire and ruby. Win rate will level out at 50% because there are plentiful players of similar mmr in the same division.

Should average players be able to climb out of the middle divisions by grinding? This removes prestige and can make matchmaking worse within a division, but always allows a sense of progression.

Should average players stay in the middle divisions because that’s where they belong at their skill level? This retains prestige and only improving skill will allow climbing, but rewards and progression stop at some point through the season.

Is there an incentive that could be added to league games for players who have reached their appropriate division and can no longer climb?

Sir, the PvP system needs to be changed. The concept of soloQ has to be eliminated and Q can only be done in a premade set of 5 or at least 3 players. This will eliminate players getting paired with randoms where none have a clue of what the other wants and would to a good extent save good players from have consecutive win and loss cycles.

PvP is a team game and should be like that only. SoloQ and lucky win streaks makes no sense, takes the fun out of the game and makes the concept of team play redundant.

The real problem here is that PvP in a 5v5 setup has to be a team game and soloQ is nothing but luck. Such a setup is actually not meant for soloQ. It has to be a team game. The thing that results in such win one lose one situation is that there are hardly any dedicated PvP teams/guilds. If there were such guilds which prepare dedicatd premades, then such situations won’t arise for good players.

Those guys who progress via SoloQ are either super pro players who carry their team on their own or are those who are just lucky.

I personally slacked in the last tier of emerald for a week before suddenly reaching the last tier of Sapphire in few hours on a particular day. I slacked in that tier for some days before finally entering Ruby.

In short, the game apart from better matchmaking needs dedicated PvP guilds

What my experience tells me that if I am in a group of friends on TS where we try to implement a particular strategy, the game is more enjoyable irrespective of win or loss. The wins are more of course.

However, if I soloQ then it is just horrible. There is a rare win after series of losses and three consecutive wins via soloQ is just not possible.

The solution is more organized PvP guilds where people make teams and play together. PvP in such games is not and should never be for soloQ

Having said that, I am a Druid player this season. If any team needs one, please invite ingame.

SoloQ is a nonsense and people need to avoid it. Players need to learn big time that anything other than 1v1 is a team game and for it, you need to play with your friends whom you know how they play and vice versa.

I personally suffered in SoloQ a lot, but then met PvPers in the games and kept adding them as per my liking. Now when we go, we go premade usually and the games are nice. The win to loss percentage has improved and it seems nice.

Please remember that PvP in MMO is a team game and not any random solo feast.

Guys and specially veterans, is there any dedicated PvP guild which does PvP premades in both Unranked and Ranked plus any particular server which is predominantly known to have PvP players?

Since I joined a few months back till date have not seen any dedicated PvP guild. Of course there are Premade teams but how about guild itself?

The crashes have settled in for the time being but as per the feedback from the support team on the OOM issues, the 32-bit players will have issues ahead, hence they recommend for a 64-bit system upgrade.

I myself cannot upgrade to a 64-bit OS just to play this game. For the time being the only option left is, either to play the game with reduced settings or go ahead for a refund and forget this game.
