Let me get this straight, you say that ‘the company is greedy and not looking out for players, only their profits’, and yet isn’t banning people a way to make a loss? Taking away players does not increase profits. It can however scare people away. Thing is, they are thinking of the best interests of the game, not their wallet. Do you know what kind of damage those items can cause when left abusable? It’s not like they are banning anybody who touched the exploit. They banning people who abused it like crazy. However I believe they should offer a way out. Item wipe of the character or account in exchange for the unban. But the thing is, the expoit has to be obvious it’s an exploit. Otherwise it can be viewed as tramping on the playerbase and cause an uproar.

Wrong. If you’re able to make mass amounts of ingame gold there is no reason for you to buy gems. You can simply convert your earnings into gems to purchase anything they place onto the store. There’s nothing stopping them from banning you – hell you might even go buy another account.

I’m extremely disappointed in Arenanet. First the karma /food vendor bs, then the lack of WvW updates and the culling and the bugs and the class imbalances/broken abilities, then the big middle finger to their manifesto and the ascended gear and the kittenty Lost Shores lag filled zergy extravaganza.

The game is good but the company has proven that their pre-launch good will and reputation was nothing but a bubble that has burst.

I will NOT be purchasing any expansion from this company and I’m quite happy that I haven’t (and will not) spend a kitten dime on the gemstore.

The term “slippery slope” comes to mind. Many players here have years of MMO playing experience and they can smell rats from a distance. And they are sounding a warning.

And thats exactly the problem! people measuring Gw2 like any other MMO even though its not! Then you get statements like At max level there are only 2 zones to play in or to get everything in this game is a massive grind!

I bet one of the reasons why they created ascended armor / FoTM was because of such people who are now complaining about it saying it will deprive them of all the content they themselves chose to ignore anyway!

There’s absolutely no reason why they needed to increase statistically superior gear and attach that to new content only 3 months out of the gate. None. They could have added the infusion mechanic to exotics, could have released ascended into the MF set with new looks and made it much more expensive than exotics.

They didn’t. They chose the lazy, cheap and easy way out that also alienated a kittenton of their playerbase. There’s also other forms of progression they could have added to the game vs gear increases. The fact they chose to go with gear grinds just speaks of uncreativity and potential to completely disregard what their game (used to) stood for.

My question exactly. It’s not really possible to take some time off from the game, and come back and be on an even footing the same as in GW1.

Either way the balance team is rather awful. 3months since launch and the balance of the game hasn’t gotten better imo. Not drastically so anyway.

To add to that, there is so much broken kitten in every class. How many times have they said they’ve fixed a trait/ability only for it to be still broken? How many traits just don’t work? How many runes just don’t work? How many sigils just don’t work?

If you want to start, how about you start by making a post in each profession’s thread about where you see that profession (as it stands) and where you want to take it, what needs to be improved/what need scaling back and why. That’d give you great feedback.

I highly doubt you’ll do that though – your handling of the ascended gear situation has completely jaded me to your ability to factually communicate with the playerbase.

I’m pretty much done with the game after this whole debacle. I wish I could refund, but from what I’m hearing: since I was a sap that believed in this game and its (original) vision, I can’t as I bought it the day it opened.

Their whole handling of this issue has been complete, total and utter horsekitten. So you complain about some imaginary gap in reward between exotic and legendary, when the only gap was cosmetic not statistical – so you introduce an actual stat gap between exotic and legendary. This is the same kind of stupid kittened up logic that ruined the ending of ME3, “Uhh we don’t want robots to kill you, so we use robots to kill you.”

If they really wanted to create a 2nd tier, then they would have added Ascended gear to the Mystic Forge as an intermediary in the very same way that items like Abyssal Scepter or Foefire are already in there. Those items take a significant more time investment than regular weapons – but also significantly less than legendaries. BOOM! Problem solved!

The fact is, they have kicked their philosophy of gear parity to the curb, lied to their customers, treated them like idiots with a totally disingenuous, paper-thin reply then continued to ignore them and ultimately attempt to silence them. Never thought I’d see that from this company – it’s quite sad.

You won’t be getting anymore of my money Arenanet. My guild has pretty much abandoned this game and things like this are the reason why. Instead of adding creative progression into the game, you have went with the tired old method of adding gear. It’s PRECISELY what you said you WOULDN’T do!

You could have added so much more to the game over time to keep hardcore players here:

- New traits
- New combo fields, combo mechanics
- New skills
- New Elite skills
- New exotic runes with rune combinations and mechanics
- Refining WvW and adding purpose and progression there

…and instead you chose the easiest, dumbest, least creative, least fun method you could, that by the way also completely invalidates your manifesto (which I had on my guild site for months): gear grind.

Good riddance.

I’ve taken a break from the game. I thought the new content would bring me back but….with the knowledge of having to grind out another gear tier on my return: I don’t think so. It’s basically destroyed any interest I had in returning to the game. I have some alts too, no interest in having to grind this ridiculous treadmill with them as well.

As for ascended gear, to reiterate what Chris has said (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news/A-message-from-our-Studio-Design-Director-Chris-Whiteside), it’s not intended as a treadmill, but rather as a tier of rewards that can help bridge the gap between Exotics (a few hours of effort to acquire a piece) and Legendaries (hundreds of hours of effort to acquire one). They’re currently only available in the Fractals of the Mist Dungeon, but we’re going to be adding new ways to acquire them, both inside of WvW as well as elsewhere in PvE.

I don’t understand this. This argument isn’t plausible in the kittening least. There was no gear gap between Exotics and Legendaries. You want to talk about effort – there were the Mystic Forge exotics that took way longer than regular exotics to obtain, with the gifts and the bottles of elonian wine, but also way shorter than legendaries.

THAT was the middle ground – THAT was the middle tier. Instead you add a statistical upgrade on new gear and introduce a stat gear gap yourself. This argument is totally disingenuous and utter trash. Worse than you guys not communicating, is you guys communicating these lies and thinking your customer base to be stupid.

Pre-launch through beta ANET marketed themselves as a very responsive, iterative, active and communicative company. What happened? Your responses to this question are lacking and a real response is needed.

By “personal gain” he means player progression, and there is a clear lack of it in this game. In other MMOs, progression is usually achieved through gear and the gear treadmill.

Here that treadmill is more of a short walk and thus not capable of retaining players. The cosmetic treadmill is there yes, but it’s still shorter than the typical gear statistical treadmill of other games and therefore not capable of retaining players for the long haul either. If there’s one thing that the sucky drops have proven, it’s that the items and gear loot tables in this game lack diversity.

While playing for fun is great and refreshing, that is only one half of the puzzle, similarly as only playing for character progression is only one half. ArenaNet needs to bring the pieces together and make content that introduces character progression paths that are fun and worthwhile.

This is why the game seems stale and boring post 80. With that being said, for $60 this game was an absolute steal.

Not sure why they just don’t take glyph of storms and add it to a fall damage trait but give it a condition for air and fire and there you go.

I think it’s absolutely preposterous that there are people in here trying to defend the fact that 7 of the 8 professions in this game has this trait but elementalists don’t. They’re probably the same people trying to defend the fact that 7 of the 8 professions in the game also have an interrupt in their downed state kit but elementalists don’t as well.

Sorry Johnny, I had the wrong name. I described the trait correctly but I used the incorrect name. The “One With Air” trait is the one I meant. It’s useless. Even if you were specc’ing into air: it’s useless. You’d have to stay in air ridiculously long just to get it to its max speed and as we’ve already said, perma swiftness is already possible without it.

Heal Glyph in Air attunement + Windborne Speed + Static Field + Arcane Wave = renewable perma swiftness. While this is easier with the air cd trait, it’s not needed at all. This simply highlights the stupidity in our traits but that’s just imo and neither here nor there.

All of that is with Staff btw, yes. Again, while the pretty numbers are definitely nice, you need some staying power. Unlike thieves who can wear full beserkers due to their innate mitigation mechanics, you must be able to take a hit.

10 air for Zeypher boon is worthless. You can get perma swiftness in air without that trait and since it doesn’t stack with swiftness and only works in air, what good is it doing you?

With such a squishy build you’re better off spending those 10 in water for the extra vitality and the condition removal upon water attunement. That’d increase your survivability by more than you think. You will not miss the 4% critical chance you’ll lose.

I also don’t think full beserker is worth it. Your damage is still below a thief’s and you don’t have damage mitigation mechanics like stealth and evasion to make it realistically viable in skirmish fights where you will certainly be focus fired. I suggest beserker amulet, accessory and rings, and either valkryie (sp) or power toughness vitality gear.

Selo I have a hard time believing you are in optimized gear on a level 80. I am not the person to be defending the state of the elementalist, but you are flat out wrong.

Staff is prime for WvW and It’s all I use there. You know how many sieges I’ve defended once they broke through using frozen ground, ice spike, meteor shower, lava font, unsteady ground, eruption, static field? I find it impossible that you’ve ever used that combo on a geared elementalist because you would not be here saying you cannot do damage.

I am not saying other classes don’t do better damage, I’m saying you don’t know how to play this class. Try telling me you have more WvW experienced than me, a WvW guildleader and previous Titan Alliance leader.

We host 3x weekly WvW Raid Nights, nights that we specify to be on and participating in WvW. Why only 3 nights? Well those are just the nights we require members to be on. We play the game competitively, but still focusing on the fun.

I’ve BEEN on a server where we’ve done this to the other two. It’s not fun. It’s not competitive. Soon enough, you’ll get bored. Soon enough, you’ll stop queuing. Eventually, either you’ll quit the game or transfer to another server; which’ll simply gut this server’s community (as you won’t be the only one) and just restart the cycle on a different one.

This needs to stop.

I’ve been on a Tier 1, hell HoD in its prime was even beyond T1 – it was in a tier all by itself, and with free server transfers still open, that is NOT what IoJ should strive for.

I’ve been on a server with 3-5 hour queues and I won’t tolerate that anymore. Last night I queued for EB and was in queue for hours and never got a pop. It’s almost 2 months of this kitten and with free server transfers penalizing any promising server with a good community / instant queues and absolutely gutting others, this game is going to go down the kittening tubes.

I’m organizing a petition to boycott next week’s WvW matchup until Arenanet gets serious about protecting, preserving and prolonging server/guild communities. Please look for my post, my hope is that all that care for their server and guild communities and/or play WvW as their primary form of content take part as we attempt to send an unmistakable message to Arenanet that their policies are utterly killing this game.

Honestly i was highly amused one day when i discovered that Stonemist Castle has Cannons placed on the highest level of the castle on all 4 of those loooooooong paths that stick out.

After over a month of playing that was the first time i ever noticed those cannons, and i cant have been the only one since i NEVER see anyone go up there… i went up there because i was just fooling around and i only noticed them cause i spotted an attack and was like…“there is a cannon here..”…makes me sad that no one on my server knew about them in that Golem picture a few posts up

I hardly doubt my voice means anything along with everyone else’s here, but if it adds just even an iota of pressure for ANet to fix this issue – then I’m going to add it.

You guys need to fix this, and fix it fast. Most WvW guilds for the past month have been absolutely gracious with the amount of leniency they’ve given you Arenanet. They have played this game throughout you:

- Stuffing their servers beyond capacity, (look at henge)
- Openly allowing free server transfers far past a sensible date that have negatively affected WvW and server communities, (look at henge)
- Having a severe lack of progression & rewards for WvW (look at henge now)
- Dragging your feet dealing with botters, hackers and exploiters
- Serious culling issue in WvW

Now, the culling issue has gotten worse. Much worse. At it’s current level – it’s absolutely unacceptable. The prospect of going into another server reset with this culling issue the way it is is disappointing. Most of my guild were pretty frustrated/disgusted tonight.

This ruins the game. This makes the game not fun. In my guild, we pride ourselves on being organized and skillful enough to be able to take 2 or 3x our numbers at times simply through coordination, skill and teamwork. It is IMPOSSIBLE to do that when we cannot see anyone.

Losing fights because you were outplayed? We can deal with that.
Losing fights because we were zerged? It sucks, but we can deal with that.
Losing fights because WE CANNOT SEE THE ENEMY FROM START TO BEING FINISHED? UNACCEPTABLE!

Not sure how much longer you expect people to put up with this.
