2: Doesn’t give her any rights to take credits for the works for others. If someone hired you to, say, paint a painting for them, that doesn’t mean they gets to have all rights to claim they did all of the work and basically ignore your existance. This is not a counterpoint, especially since living story is going to be the closest thing to new content for the moment

Actually, that’s exactly how it works. If someone pays you to create something for them, they can legally claim the copyrights to it and claim authorship of it because it was completed as a "work for hire.

Go and tell any big name artist taking commissions on the internet that they don’t deserve to be credited with drawing any sort of commissions and that the people who commissioned them should have full permission to claim that they drew it.

I dare you.

Do it.

That means she’s going to turn up in future stories, make us do all of the hard work and then steal the credit for it all.

1. How often has any other council member shown up?
2. We were asked to volunteer to aid Kiel and the Lionguard on both occasions of her being in the story. Yes Marjory discovered Mai Trin’s Identity, but she was hired by Logan, not us. Nobody forced you to do living story.

1: Kiel is Trahearne 2.0. She will find a way.

It really matters little in the long run. For all we know, this might be the last time ever we see either Kiel or Evon in a story.

Kiel should be awfully busy with politics now that she’s a council member, and pretty well tied to lions arch. Key word “should.”

That means she’s going to turn up in future stories, make us do all of the hard work and then steal the credit for it all.

I hope that wp cost reduction wont pass 1%

I hope that reactor fractal will be a fail and remake of current one with raven asura

I hope we will be able to kill Kiel

and so on everyone that voted on her

I disagree on everything except the “kill Kiel” part.

Killing Kiel personally would be great, second only to killing Trahearne.

I just wanted to make it clear that by voting for Kiel, you basically said “I want characters like Trahearne and Kiel to take over my story from now on.”

So if Anet decides to let Trahearne take over the story in the future, don’t act surprised about that, because that’s what you voted for.

Gnashblade's only hope to win the election.

First one is much better but if they decide to give her a unique face, they should try to stick close with that expression. She got like the " I am serious and will stab you if you mess with me look." ;3

Well, she did secretly assassinate that council member, so that face fits her.

I don’t know where you’ve been, but here in Tyria Captain Ellen Kiel has proved countless times she’s a very capable, competent leader and a shrewd person.

This is the funniest joke I’ve ver seen in my life.

Ellen Kiel has never done anything on her own. She relies on thousands of adventurers to do her dirty work for her, she fakes death the moment she realizes she might be in potential danger, and then walks in and claims credit for it all. That’s not the sign of competence OR capability. That’s the sign of a cowardly glory hog. And to add to all of that, she doesn’t even reward these adventurers. So she’s a selfish, cowardly glory hog.

Hell, Evon Gnashblade provides people with free silvers. Which is literally more than Kiel has ever given any of the adventurers who actually saved the day. I am siding with the guy who gives you reward over the credit thief who refuses to even admit the possibility that she didn’t depend on thousands of adventurers.

The Dragons might not be evil.

I don’t know about the other dragons (they might be neutral or such), but if the Sovereign Eye is of any indications, Zhaitan seems to like toying with his enemies emotionally…
by invoking the name of your Order mentor, and telling you that they're waiting for you.
Last I checked, that’s a pretty mean thing to do, even if you’re a literal force of nature.

I think a decent solution to this would be to introduce NPC henchmen who can join you in story path dungeons.

Everyone who played GW1 will know what I am talking about.

I should point out that I recall the popular opinion of most fellow GW1 vets is that heroes “ruined” the game by giving the community increasingly less reason to interact.

Not that I am agreeing or disagreeing, just felt it needed to be pointed out.

That’s why I am suggesting that they should only be available for the story path. So people can complete the personal story and Arah story without waiting forever for a group, but if they want the goodies from the explorables, then they’re gonna have to team up with other players.

I keep seeing the argument. “Evon is a real Pirate” And “Kiel is a good two-shoes” But you gotta remember these two kittens will be in charge of our HOME BASE regardless of pirates or not, do you want a lying, backstabbing merchant setting your prices in Lion’s Arch and making decisions based on “His” Best interest.

Yes.

That would make for a far more interesting future for the Living Story than “Mary Sue #3636262 wins again!”.

Boss ideas for the future

HP Reducing boss

This boss wouldn’t be capable of immediately melting down a glass cannon, dealing low damage in general, but compensates for it with an attack that inflicts a debuff that lowers a player’s max health, and maybe even an AoE attack that inflicts the same debuff on multiple players. Obviously the AoE attack wouldn’t be spammed, and should be a rare attack. So this boss punishes all attempts at tanking. Also, the debuff cannot be removed until the player dies or the boss is defeated. Obviously, you can dodge the attacks that inflicts the debuff, though I’d like to see them unblockable.

Additionally, this boss could summon weak minions that dies in few hits. However, the boss can put a lot of minions on the boss arena, so the DPS adds up. Also deadly with the boss’ special debuff

Stealth-ish boss

(This one is a little complicated (perhaps too complicated), please bear with me)

This boss is normally invulnerable against damage (or at least has a massive toughness stat normally), so the player party has to activate some kind of a mechanic to make him more vulnerable to damage. The player party has to cover the area in darkness somehow either via magic or by turning off some sort of switch (depending on if you want this to be magical or scientific in nature). [This will be a channel. I will explain why in a moment)

When that’s done, each player will get the buff “Undetected”, which basically means “The Boss cannot see you”. The boss will remove the darkness somehow, and proceed to try and look for the player party. There will be weapons or items throughout the boss area that can be used to make the boss vulnerable to damage, but they can only be activated by a player with the buff “Undetected”. Once a weapon is used, the entire party will lose that buff and the weapon can’t be used anymore in later phases (but can be reused if the party wipes). The player party must sneak around and stay out of the boss’ sight and attempt to activate one of the weapons.

The boss will regain his armor after he loses a certain amount of health. That’s the moment where you cover the area in darkness once again. This time around, he will summon sentry drones/minions to fly around and try and detect the player party. He will summon a few more if he loses more health. Also, if a player starts channeling the darkness switch on the final phase, when he has let’s say 20% health left, he will immediately cease all attacks on the player party and rush straight for that player in an attempt to interrupt him. On the final phase, a part of the player party should move the boss as far away from the switch as possible so that he doesn’t interrupt the player.

As for his skills, I imagine he should have AoE attacks that can suck in nearby players if they’re close to them, including those with the “Undetected” buff. It also interrupts.

The darkness switch will return after the boss’ armor is back up, or after a short time if the entire player party loses the “Undetected” buff.

Eldrake.1543

Who else feels that they were underutilized? They show up for two zones (Blazeridge Steppes and Fields of Ruin), one storyline (the vigil storyline) and one special event (ambushed by renegades in the open world for killing their leader).

Now, I understand that they’re less likely to be around when Ajax is dead. However, I still feel that Anet should utilize them in more zones. Maybe in a mini-expansion themed around Charr?

This isn’t a foreign plane. It’s not alien technology. And it’s not the property of political or military enemies. It’s someone else’s money. And Gnashblade, being the crook that he is, is going to keep it for himself. Do you really want this crook in office?

At least Gnashblade is honest about being a crook.

Kiel, on the other hand, is far and beyond dishonest about being a crook. She lies to bolster her own ego (stealing the credit for the Southsun event and Aetherblades event) and has blown up a Lionguard ship (which likely had crew members onboard)

So, let me ask you one question. Would you vote the crook who admits to being a crook, or would you vote the crook who doesn’t admit to being a crook?

Vote for Captain Kiel for Captain’s Council, she’s the member that Lion’s Arch needs!

Kiel didn’t do anything. She merely herded all us heroes to do the dirty work for her, and claimed the successes as her own.

She blew up a serviceable Lion Guard ship, which is bad enough by itself, but to make matter worse she did this at a time when the threat of the end of life as we know it (see also: Elder Dragons) looms over all. Tyria can’t afford such a waste of resources and materiel. She should have been relieved of command immediately pending further investigation – but she wasn’t, and there was no investigation. And now here she is vying for a seat on the Captain’s Council…

Something is rotten in the city of Lion’s Arch.

Don’t forget that SOMEONE had to be onboard that ship to sail it. And I am pretty sure autopilot doesn’t exist on them.

Yes. Belcher’s Bluff has nothing to do with skill. It’s literally 100% luck. Basically, every time you lose it’s not because you are bad, but because the RNG decided you should lose. Similarly, if you win it’s because of luck.

This is probably the worst minigame I’ve ever seen in a MMO. Disgraceful.

Eldrake.1543

Personally, I feel that the NPCs are not difficult whatsoever. That would imply they’re actually challenging or fun to play against. Which they’re not.

There’s no difficulty whatsoever in drinking against them. It’s nothing but 100% luck. In other words, it’s Mario Party except there’s no fun.

Either Anet should make them more like PCs, make them play fair (equal health and refreshing) and let them use their signature techniques only once, or just stop making minigames ever since they need to use overpowered NPCs for whatever reasons. The former would be best.

Anet clearly wants to make engaging minigames, but to do that Anet needs to stop making minigame design decisions despised by everyone in the entire world. Only then can it be potentially engaging/exciting/fun.

Can't take another sample detector from Levvi

in Last Stand at Southsun

Eldrake.1543

I was a Necromancer and went over to pick up a detector.

Later, I was attacked by a veteran karka out of nowhere and gave me one of the ten seconds knockdowns. To survive, I turned on death shroud and ran away. This made me lose the detector.

Went back to get a new one, but when I click “Could I get another one of your sample detectors”, I didn’t get a new one. Going through the other dialogue trees didn’t work, and logging out and then back in didn’t help either.

Now I am not going to get angry at Anet. I understand that they can’t fix every single bug until someone points it out, but I felt like warning other players so they don’t get this bug, especially if they’re necromancers.
