Clearly you have read the title of the post but either you glossed over the post itself or didn’t comprehend what the post meaning was

I shall reiterate: the poster did not say jumping should be removed he/she said that the game at least gave you an option to progress through the game without participating in that sport.

This point you seem to have neglected.

The game was going “forward” handsomely without forcing people to have to do the jumping. Now that has changed and the poster has made a valid comment about it.

I was talking about making jumping optional and how it is the same as removing it, you condescending kitten . Personal story is something people want to do, to make jumping optional would be to remove it entirely from personal story, therefore all extra content cannot have any form of jumping as its “must do” content, jumping must purely be “optional”.

Therefore, my point is that all personal story/living story content becomes a single flat plane with no originality or intrigue because some people cant handle basic jumping.

And I did read everything before me, I read a hell of a lot of pages before me, just because ive found an angle to try and get the complainers to understand why they are being selfish doesn’t mean I didn’t understand the original post to which I am not replying . This is a feedback thread and i’m giving feedback to other peoples feedback, the world isn’t just everyone agreeing with each other.

All I’m hearing here is the typical nonsense I’m used to hearing from people on these forums.

“Recently, there has been a focus on things I don’t like, stop doing it because I don’t like it and I can find other people who don’t like it”

In other words, because you lack the enthusiasm or skill to do something, you want it made optional so you don’t have to do it. Well guess what, this is an mmorpg, that means a lot of people play it, and a lot of people like this new map and like the jumping elements it presents. Have you ever considered the feelings of the people that want more of this and are kittened that the stuff they like to do is made “optional” to suit your needs? When does making things optional, to suit one particular groups needs, start and end? Where do you draw the line without another group complaining?

Now I understand that it can be frustrating to not be able to do something, but just because this is an mmorpg, by genre, doesn’t mean you can dictate how it should be played. That’s generalisation, that’s stereotyping games. I for one, love that Guild Wars 2 is actually doing some things different to try and mix things up and to see how it goes. I don’t want another kittening point and click text game that gets stale after you realise there’s no depth to the gameplay other than more point and click, over and over again….with different skins…there’s plenty games out there that are like that, go play one of them.

Just because you cant do something, doesn’t mean it should be made optional, you are expecting this game to pander to idiots if that is your expectation. You know what, sometimes bosses kill people, lets take away their damage so everyone can do it. What’s this!? somebody cant jump from A to B? Lets make everything involving spacebar optional and all main content easy as walking in a straight line. Do you see my point? You are literally limiting the potential for the game, how can we have glorious backgrounds and worlds to navigate, if it has been created for people that cant even jump. How can the main storyline be kept interesting if it must always exist on a single, flat plane…

To say that jumping isn’t a part of this game, is to blindly turn your head to 10-30% of the games content. In reflection to my original statement, you are choosing what you think this game should be and bitshing about everything that doesn’t fit “your” expectations.

Reminds me of Champions Online.

there i can hold shift at any moment during the fight and my toon goes into a blocking stance. I can also tap said key if CCed to break the CC and get temporary immunity.

Didn’t try it in PVP, but in PVE the game felt alive without going poor man’s DMC with rolls and flips everywhere.

i miss my character on champions online. but i can never go back to paying monthly :p

My issue with males is that the way they hold their two handed swords. As a fan of FF7 i want my character holding the sword aimed down, all male characters essentially hold them pointed up which i think looks stupid.

I really wish they allowed us to choose from stances (gem store maybe?) that affected how we held our weapons and ran with them.

Actually, Greatswords and axes should’ve been held in two hands, straight, pointed up. Look at Witcher games.

that’s the benefit of computer games, historical accuracy based on logic need not apply. i want to hold my two handed swords blade down cos it looks much cooler to me than pointed up (goes with armour n stuff better) just like a lot of people want to hold it in various ways as well. would also make characters more unique but meh, im going off topic. i think females have better weapon stances. Een take staff for example, there’s a proper pose as opposed to just standing there

Did you laugh at my humor, Equilibriator? Or did it failed you?

I was kidding. It is a marvelous idea. I get stun like non-stop in WvW when I"m getting chased, but I’m sure many would disagree with this idea. Ps: I’m a Ranger, and lightning reflex can only do so much… But honestly, giving everyone a stun breaker would be not good. People usually only need one (if any at all) in PvE… and that would make the game a lot easier overall, which isn’t what some of us wants. I have to time and use my Lightning Reflex strategically. If I get one every few seconds (Endurance 100%), it would no longer be necessary for me to carry LR at all, making my favorite skill from gw1 useless.

yeh i missed the sarcasm :p, then make it so the stun break has cooldown, even if you regen full endurance again, you still have to wait X period of time :p

my thinking is they could use this as an excuse to make pve a little harder, giving more bosses moves that actually do something other than just damage you can zerg through. but this is why i ask for opinions, i can only think about this idea from my limited perspective

then perhaps limit it so it only works if you are not under the effect of anything – including stun itself? Only if you get knocked down to save you time otherwise spent on your bum. That way it doesn’t punish builds like the warriors hammer stun lock build.

Add another button function that allows you to use your entire endurance bar to break stun, assuming you have 100% endurance at the time to do so. Its a simple idea but has many applications that work on many levels.

Now you can diversify your build a bit more because you don’t have to pick at least one stun breaking utility. (obviously you don’t ~have to)

In pvp or wvw, if you decide to use a full endurance bar to break a stun, now you can’t dodge for a while, this way its not OP and you wouldn’t always use it just because you can. (that and everyone can do it)

In pve more bosses can be designed with stunning in mind, given that now everyone is guaranteed to have at least one way to break stun regardless of their build.

Seems like it would add a lot more potential to the game design. Would you agree or disagree?

I like the new traits and i understand where they are coming from by making it 5 points now equals one in terms of adjusting your build.

what i dont understand is why they had to make it that way for progression/levelling, i already have all my characters at lvl 80 so i have not been effected by this at all asides from having a few new traits to play with (love my ele now, thanks for that).

surely keeping it as five trait points instead of 1 big leap works better for people levelling, then just take the UI and make it shift 5 at a time so doing that is quicker (togglable so you can still spend one as you level up) . You dont have to go and change how you get them.

i think that if there was anything to take from this, it is that the desired result of making the levelling process more spaced out so that you are always feeling like you are earning something has been a total backfire. People seem on large to simply be claiming the opposite, now they arent earning anything for greater periods of time, they are being deprived of skills that they could have achieved earlier that made the game more fun to play, all that seems to have changed is that everything just takes longer to get more fun.

you should change the levelling and trait unlock to the way it was before, figure out a -new- way to make levelling more fun, dont just take whats already there and drip feed them it instead of letting them enjoy it all at once.

(an idea coould be to grant low lvl people some kind of mission system, something akin to dailies that simply grants them exp boost or attack boost for a period of time or a basic yet fun enhancement stone for a weapon or armour,a mission where they get told something like “sparkly fen is in need of a hero, do 5 events there to restore balance”) idk its an idea but you get my point, you should be thinking of new ways to liven up the game, not ways to change whats already there into something else, that way you can only ever upset some people at the chance to please others which imo isnt worth it.)

new is better but keep the old.

You are doing that to yourself. You know the cut-off for the free trans charges is still 15 hours away. Go do something for 10 hours and you still have 5 left to login.

There’s 24 hours in a day. There’s still 15hours left in the day in the timezone Anet is in.
Anytime within those 24 hours is still “on time”. Just because they don’t schedule their releases around your work and leisure time schedule or your own personal timezone doesn’t mean they are late or breaking promises.
If anything, you all are overreacting 15 hours before the deadline for the end of the day.

do we know if auras and footprints carry over with legendary skins? im wondering if the weapon has to be legendary for the extra aesthetics

Yes they do. Weapons that have a legendary skin applied to them are visually identical to the original legendaries that unlocked the skin in the wardrobe and provide the exact same additional visuals to your character.

then they should add a feature where with legendaries you can choose to have the aura and footsteps be toggle effected, and you can have them effect you when you swap weapons (whilst obviously still having the legendary equipped).

I say somehow give the people with a legendary something to make them feel special again, rather than just refund it in some dificult to decide way.
(perhaps duel weilding actual legendaries grants a slightly more unique aura, etc)

dont need mounts in pve, we have wp EVERYWHERE.

however, it wouldbe cool in wvw if you could build vehicles that were 2x faster than walking and could hold multiple people or something, like the mole people carriers or something. That way you have to put resources into it and it can be destroyed relatively easily, so one person drives back and forth giving people lifts.

They should add very rare events similar to scarlets invasion to all major cities. Whereby, like maybe once a week or slightly more often, a major city gets picked at random and attacked by some sort of flash mob or riot, boss, etc. The server gets an announcement, told which city it is and by participating in the defence of said city, they get a chance of getting a rare item (created specifically for this event, dependant on which city you are defending). (the reward being account bound so people actually have to do the event to get the item)

The whole map is fighting and all those npcs in the city, dependant on if they are warriors or civilians, will either be running around screaming or joining in the fighting.

…just an idea, especially seeing as we are about to have a new dragon, could be his minions that attack in varied formats

tbh they should just change the event around dungeons that block you getting in. They shouldnt be on some long timer where you cant do anything till the event starts again, it should just doable all the time so when people go to do the dungeon, they dont have to either ‘sit there and wait’ or ‘guest’.

Hopefully they start teaching players about combo fields as the amount of times iv’e had to explain them to people is just insane.

i went so long in this game not knowing about them, in the end i found out because i was telling my mate about combos (in regards to switchign weapons regularly to avoid cooldowns) and he went and did research and came back with all the info about combo FIELDS, he then proceeded to tell other people about this awesome thing i told him about when in reality he had just taught me about it xP

Id love it if they added a Psychic class, a class that holds their weapon/s with telekinesis and uses various waves and whip like maneuvers with weapons to form the basis of its attacks (similar to some Mesmer attacks but much more specialised to raw damage without conditions at the 600ish meter distance). Armour would be medium.

my other problem with your “insta switch” idea is the way wvwers and pvpers will abuse it. you switch gear dependant on your situation at the click of a button, wherass if you have to equip one at a time you can get caught with your trousers down. Much the same way npc items that gives u skills don’t have a hotbar, its kind of guild wars 2’s way of saying these items should not be for gaining an unfair advantage. not for regular and easy use. (of course now you pretty much cant use them anywhere so I think they should give them a hotbar now :P)

don’t see why you have to be against dueling so much, I think it is nonsense to be against it.

  • I have no interest in fighting world bosses. Should ANet remove them or should I ignore them? That is how I feel about your interest.
  • You told me many times that there are other alternatives. I told you many times why that alternative does not work.

Because we’ve all seen it before and have no interest in dealing with it again. I’m certain Anet is paying attention to that sentiment and you have been told many times, there plenty of places for you to go dueling.

Saying that you don’t like something that is an established part of the game is not a good argument to refute somebody elses opinion, that just makes it look like you should be playing another game.

An example of how you sound is this: “I want the game to be first person, I should have the option of first person because I want it and don’t like third person”, someone would say to me “no, because we’ve all seen it before and have no interest in dealing with it in this game. I’m certain Anet is paying attention to that sentiment and you have been told many times, there plenty of other games you can go first person and this isn’t one of them.”

To me the solution is simple, have a few select pvp areas in the game for duelling that exist within a main city or map, but to the side out of the way. when within these areas you can send a duel request or receive one. But only if you are within the area.

However, this is pretty much exactly what pvp is already so frankly I don’t see the point.

To the OP, I agree with other people, I don’t want open world pvp, there is lag issues, spam issues, many issues. What you are basically complaining about seems to be “I want other people to see me fighting so they think i’m cool because people currently find me far to annoying to join me in pvp 1 vs 1 but they would totally do it all the time if it was open world”

Right, they are talking about the items on the town clothes list that were removed on December 17th. This includes:

Casual Hoodie
Cherry Blossom Shirt
Country Lace Gathered Shirt
Designer Hoodie
Dragon Emblem Shirt
Fitted Casual Shirt
Layered Vest
Leather Hoodie
Ornate Ruched Shirt
Silk Brocade Vest with Shirt
Striped Silk Vest with Shirt
Khaki Cargo Shorts
Riding Pants
Riding Boots
Riding Gloves

The last three items still exist as part of a costume set, but their individually sold versions were removed from the gem store.

I totally missed this, wasn’t playing actively at the time. I wanted to buy some of those :O

i want to know what will happen to the devil horns that existed from the first haloween, they released them as a free purchase, in any quantity and i have one on pretty much every character. It is literally horns coming out of any characters forehead which is awesome (costume). What happens to somehting like this?

I think the reason for refunding the dyes as unidentified dyes is due to bag space issues. If you are both an altaholic and a dye collector (as I am), you might have several characters with over 200 dyes each. If ArenaNet tried to refund each color duplicated on an alt, you would very quickly run into over full bags and no where to store the created dyes. So by giving unidentified dyes, they will stack nicely and give you a shot at unlocking something new.

are you honestly thinking that millions of people have bought multiple abyss dyes? your having a laugh like. Wouldnt everyone benefit from abyss dyes being cheaper, atleast they will be worth more than normal dyes and lets face it people will buy them up to sell later, which will drive the price right back up in no time.

the reason i say it should be the specific dye is because it removes the initial exploit which is banking people 2000 gold from spending 50 gold :/

its not the unidentified dye thats the problem really, its why they are doing it i dont get. It would be incredibly easy to refund the exact dye you have multiples of.

I am also concerned because, all it would have taken is one nod from one person to a gold seller and the gold seller could have bought up dyes to make easy gold earned officially in the mass. Its all very unusual.

Im not gonna lie, i too checked the marketplace for cheap dyes to buy but to no avail they were already all gone.

What i dont understand is, why are we being refunded unidentified dyes instead of the specific dye we have doubles of. This idea seems to literally be giving thousands of gold to a lucky few, whilst punishing countless others who have bought things like 2 celestial dyes and 3 abyss dyes to put across their characters.

Is there any second thoughts being put into this wholly unjustifiable action (which tbh is very dodgy given how gold sellers n stuff could massivley have benefitted from this)

I… don’t understand. How can anyone ever think this is getting better. How is this getting better? I am not bashing you, I swear. Please, explain to me how is this getting better. Because each new update is sending me into an abyssal depression towards the game’s future, and I am seriously worried about them not actually being able to turn this around away from the incoming crash zone.

Are you kidding me? I have never seen the such a major city change in games, LA is one if not the most important city in the game and it looks like they are about to change that.

Even Ragnarok Online literally blew up two cities and turned them into smocking craters, then filled them with a boss battle hard enough that you had to gather half a server to go through it. Lineage 2 did much of the same. The ways in which the Living Story is developing so far have no explanations nor make any sense whatsoever, and this continues to worry me. Scarlet should have no means to do anything of what she does, each time she tries she should lose resources, yet she still has enough to blow up the most iconic city in the setting.

because LA if you think about it isnt defended from the air, even in the standard storyline it was ships and men (never knew why all those dragons in the final fight of arah story never just smashed LA, would have been easy to just fly over and crush it….instead they send an undead army and only one dragon which didnt even push to LA itself :/). As for resources, whos to say that since you smshed each group, that they havent been resupplying, etc. Scarlet won them over with various promises, how shes keeping them im not sure….thats a hole in my opinion, toxic allliance should have no reason to side with scarlet anymore, we killed their “demi-god”, but ,aybe that just riled them against us.

my point being that these are huge factions, our actions dented them but we didnt wipe them out, we just stopped their immediate plans. Now they are sending what they have left to LA for vengeance.

So living story kinda is plausible within the world of guild wars 2.

don’t forget 100% mf probably means you have twice the chance of loot than normal peeps. If the items is 0.01% chance to drop, that’s now a whopping 0.02% chance at 100% MF. You’ll probably see more kitten loot tho.

yeh I don’t find their relationship to be at all charismatic or interesting. Im not sure if you guys hung around them when the toxic spores were about but Kasmeer even stated that her clothes were an illusion, thus she is naked all the time, something to which Marjory reacts a it dumfounded too. This whole lesbian thing keeps being forced down our throats and just seems like a cheap stint to the (vast) male populace of the game, much like how batwoman was a lesbian (and I believe the artists quit over that or something because they recognised it for the cheap gimmick it was).

Its not storytelling, there is no clever character development, its just “visualise these two having sex because were going to keep hinting at it like a bad coca cola advert”.

I like Roxx and Braham (partly because their voice actors aren’t terrible) because there actually seems to be some sense of character to them, they aren’t just a sexual pun and as a whole they seem to be a lot more on the level. And I like the new asuran, its a cool idea that she’s basically disabled and had to overcome it with smarts, speaks to the asuran way.

As for the story, it is being horrendously slowly drip fed to us. Feels like technically all these living world story patches should have actually more or less all come at once. Molten alliance, toxic alliance, aetherblades they could have happened at same time, it wouldn’t have changed the flow of the story. Then the watchworks being stolen, sided with the marionette. That much content took near enough a year to give out to us (broken up by the various other events which are fine where they were like winters day, halloween, the adventure box thing, etc). The living story just feels so slow that its incredibly easy to lose interest. Imagine reading a 300 page children’s book but you only got 1 page a day, even when its at the boring parts, that’s what this living story is like.

Don’t forget the primary reason people think that it is LA (in my mind) being targeted is because of the video clip which showed the asuran gate in some kind of post-destruction shot. The asuran gate that looked incredibly similar to the one in LA.

That and the green light. I hope theres a nice big twist, but it seems like LA is the target.

What I wonder about most is what is the poison for? Is Scarlet trying to poison mordremoth, cos he is in her head? Or is she actually working for him unintentionally and maybe the poison could act as some sort of pale tree killer, thus freeing the sylvari minds to Mordremoth (potentialkly) and suddenly he has minions. Perhaps the pale tree is the one keeping mordremoth asleep, who knows?

They should just take the item that requires you to complete the game in pve and make it an optional item towards the legendary. Then make it so you can either complete all the pve content, get to a certain massive level in WvW, or get to massive lvl in PvP(or something balanced like that compared to completing all pve content). The item you get for completing either of those 3 being interchangeable in the recipe. That way whatever you do specifically in the game can benefit you for your legendary without forcing you to do a huge portion of the game you shouldn’t have to (depending on your preference).

(I realise there’s still a lot of pve content either way but lets be fair, your not gonna be able to find enough stuff in wvw or pvp to make this balanced. Pretty much anything you do in pvp or wvw is everything you can do, you don’t have enough variety to keep it balanced)

And while they’re at it, make the Gift of Fortune optional too. And the precursor! Cause those are just SO much effort, man. It’s almost like they don’t want everyone to have a full collection of legendaries. Which is extremely repressive of my gaming experience.

Why the sarcasm? Slightly over the top don’t you think. Im talking about taking the biggest pve element and replacing it with either wvw or pvp to satisfy people that do those things specifically.

cool, so long as they are intending on fixing it I don’t mind. If people are doing it properly I have no problems, its just I don’t like this idea of high difficulty end game content being exploitable and thus making is very hard to find a party as anyone wanting to do them just pays to do it instead (i.e. people aren’t getting better)

In a nutshell I am sick to death of going to dungeons to see almost every party request saying things like “pay 10g to learn how to 1 man skip dungeon” or “at end of dungeon, pay to join”,etc.

there is clearly a broken mechanism in a lot of these dungeons that people are exploiting and it is incredibly frustrating that this is being allowed to continue.

Can you do something about it please?

VOICES
different battle voices would be nice, I understand the cut scene voices cant change as that’s a lot of unnecessary work but why cant you earn or buy different voices for when you are actually fighting. I hate that my two female characters have the exact same voice, I want my evil character to have an evil voice, my battle hardy warrior to sound nails, my noble guardian to use holy expressions etc.

I really feel like this is a simple yet beneficial idea, earn voices. Of course other characters would hear these voices. It’s just a whole new level of customisation.

(if you need an excuse for why they are different voices in cutscenes then just make the earned voices, ‘voice crystals’ made by asurans to modify a persons voice or some other sci-fi jargon excuse)

DYE AND RECIPE
I also really feel that recipes and dyes should be account shared, not individually character bound. It is incredibly frustrating to have certain recipes on one character who doesn’t know that craft skill whilst another does but needs the recipe. I realise this isn’t an easy mistake to make but at same time I don’t want to have to hold onto recipes forever and when i’m constantly making new characters its hard to plan what should go where. I genuinely feel that this sort of limiting is very bad for the game as I never feel like im earning these things and im constantly second guessing who I give them to.

COMMANDER TAG
add a vote system or some kind of system whereupon commander tags can be given different colours depending on how good a commander someone is. I say vote system because a wvw map of people could be working under a commander the thought was very skilled and deserved a higher tag so they vote for them and this way commander tag is not only just a purchasable label but something you earn up tiers once you purchase so people can know you are actually good at your job.

as for the squishyness, as a mesmer i always found the combo of dodge rolling, blink and the stealth clone. the two handed staff( as secondary weapon) also has a sort of blink move that teleports you back, the swords make you immune to damage while you use a certain move. With your clone pop skills like mind wrack, you also have one that grants you 1s of basically incoming damage immortality for every clone you pop so thats 3s of imortality. In the end if you use all these skills in an apporpriate order you can stay relatively unharmed. not to mention the other skills you already mentioned.

thats basically what i have to do already, sort of a fix but not rlly given that you have to constantly draw your weapon every 20s your not in combat or so.

Is there a command to keep it perma drawn?

Basically, when an asuran runs, with a shortbow on its back, the shortbow wiggles as tho it were attached to the head and moves far to much to be considered attached to the body.

Frankly it looks very silly and frustratingly crap considering i have to spend the majority of game-time looking at it.

Basically, i have 3 lvl 80’s. Normally i can log in with them (any map anywhere) from the character select screen in about 20-30s or something normal.

Recently however, my main character has initial ligin times upwards of 15 mins, or it does not work at all and i get an error and have to reopen game.

Now the weird thing is the other two characters will be fine, i can send them to same map and no problems. i swap back to the main at the problem persists.

So i finally successfully get in with main, move to another map, log out then back in to test, problem persists.

Just now as i have been writing this, i have finally gotten into the game after about 10 mins of loading.

So in summary, there is something specific about one of my characters that is giving the character persistant bad map loading. If only when i first select the character and try to join game.

Seriously, our whole servers ip keeps getting attacked on ring of fire, suspiciously whenever a certain server mounts a mass attack.

We need a proper chat system hosted by guild wars 2 to bring this game back to equality….how are we supposed to deal with hackers outside guild wars 2…..
