Gandara
Every time there is a new build or patch, WvW maps are [obviously] emptied.
Organized servers / guilds can take advantage of this and take down a T3 Tower / Keep / SMC with little to know effort because players who normally would be nearby, know enemy movements, etc… are not there and are less agile to respond.
I’ve seen this happen often, seeing a Tower, deep in enemy territory speed capped with little trouble because one server was organized enough to get all their players on right after an update and rush a tower, before the other server has the manpower to defend / able get into a tower.
It’s easy to say “learn to play” or “this happens at Reset”, but I believe that a mechanism needs to put this in place to inhibit such occurrences, especially to prevent fully upgraded locations to fall faster than they should, when at Reset everything is T1.
There is unlikely an easy solution (there never seems to be when it comes to changing this game), but two ideas that don’t seem too unreasonable:
- Lock out WvW for 5-10 minutes to allow everyone the chance to update and load into the game
- Prevent new siege (aka rams and catapults) from being place for 10-15 minutes to allow players to saturate the maps again
On the grand scheme of WvW play, it probably matters little, as one might argue that if a server can organize that fast and the other server couldn’t, the location was bound to fall. But often these events can trigger a House of Cards event, where that server’s locations fall shortly after losing a strategic point. Also, no one likes losing a T3 tower when your computer takes 5-10 minutes to load into WvW

Each server isn’t comprised of the same skill, same players, or time people play. There is a vast variety and the match ups group “like” servers together, not guaranteeing a super balanced fight.
As groups and guilds shift servers, the balance will always be in flux.

If siege were less expensive, it would truly be called Siege Wars.
The reason why it seems so expensive is that the number of people who actually place siege are in a very small minority, so to those people who don’t run JP’s or make decent coin from loot, see the issue exacerbated.
For example, say you stock up on some siege, four Arrow Carts, two ballista, two catapults, and a trebuchet.
That’s 92 silver.
Somehow you lose Bravost on EBG. You set up the treb at the keep to knock down the wall, and use all the siege you bought to resiege your tower, to keep those pesky invaders away for good. Not an unreasonable amount of siege for that tower.
Golem rush. All your siege is burned. You are down almost a gold, especially if you died fighting (repair cost). And you lost Bravost. QQ.
Unless you are zerging through the battlefield, taking towers, a keep, and SMC, simulating Scorched Earth on your opponents, getting mad loot, getting that gold back through regular game play might take you a couple hours, or longer if you escort dolyaks and run repairs.
So you understand better on why people are reluctant to place siege.

Portals I’m okay with, mostly.
Temporal Curtain can pull you off and you have no idea that it was even cast (for a counter), I’m not okay with. I have stability skills, but I don’t know to use it when a Mesmer can cast at on the cliff below me, out of line of sight, and pull me off.

There is no hacking going on.
1. Place AC right up to the gate.
2. Shift camera to see inside.
3. Kill all things.
It’s the counter to the catapults that are fire against gates to knock back ram users and kill them.
I feel like it’s a bit of a cheese, but there is nothing wrong with it. Set cats out of line of sight and as far back as you can or higher up out of the way places. Catapults still work if backed up against the wall (and appearing like they are halfway into the wall).

oh and you where loggin while we take Lowland Keep and where loggin as we take jerry and aldons….
oh i have forgotten to mention that we deff it for i while and would go on with it if the lovley guys from aurora hadnt shown up
no offens but i think we can“t loggin faster than you it was luck that we had a commander and a few guild mates at ts at that time so we could do it.
Well at that point, it was like dominoes, you had momentum and an organized guild who took advantage of an artificial lull in our server population. Hard to mount a defense when in the time it took for people to run to the castle, you were already in the Lord’s room Pay to win
And let’s not forget AG helped you out quite a bit in taking our towers. So while we were busy taking our keep back, AG was sweeping our towers with your treb support
But let’s ignore that and give DTK a round of applause for superior tactics Though it must not work so well against a full server, because the only time you took us out was after an update

To the dozen+ Aurora Glade members camping the chest (top of EBG JP): some people just want to do the puzzle in peace, let me get my rewards and I’m gone. It’s like an unspoken rule not to camp the chest.
Ran with the [WvW] crew a bit today and crossed paths with [PX] a couple times; fun battles, win or lose (some of both).

I figured the ram builder(s) were griefing, but I have yet to hear it’s because of someone on our (Gandara) server switching servers. At least I hope it’s not.
AM choo-choo’d Aldon’s with an army of golems today… well I think the official count was 6-7, but it was down before a handful of people could react.
Whoever was QQ’ing a page ago about Gandara cheating, please give examples otherwise people are going to think you are just making stuff up.
We are slowly closing the gap with RS… 2 days left! Please get unlazy, I don’t want to move up tiers. :P

Wrecked a couple RS zergs on EBG tonight with some nice command leadership. Of course, RS returned the favor outside QL not too much later. :P
To the AM’s that read this… we thank whomever decided it was a great idea to place a Superior Treb on your south outer wall, at Overlook, to hit SMC. We removed that mistake quickly.
Can someone from RS explain why I see so many Flame Rams up in your towers (QL was a major offender this past weekend).
All in all, I’ve been enjoying this match-up. Have had some good fights.

This achievement is an exercise in frustration. People fighting for kills, yelling at others to drop combos, and neigh impossible in WvW without some luck.
Before Dailies could be done with normal gameplay, minus the 15 types maybe, but now it’s a chore.
I agree… it should be ‘participate in combo’.
Anet seems to have not tested this in normal gameplay with random people, and just used idealized scenarios and called it good. Some poor QC.

It appears it’s going to be another long week for Gandara.
If the rumors are true, saying many Arborstone players swapped to Augury for the week, it’s essentially going to be 2 vs. 1, holding onto the few towers we can, and getting cleared overnight. And sure, we have a couple hours a day where we can do pretty well, but that’s about it.
Yeah, QQ, right, this isn’t fun… hope Anet adds incentives for outmatched servers to play to give us a chance to fight back.

Lol you guys are taking it out of context. No one said anything about teach you a lesson no idea where it came from.
Since I’m the one that said PS set out to teach a lesson on Reset, it might have been a bit harsh, and not really wanting to dredge it up, but I also did not want you to think that I was pulling quotes out of thin air:
Saint Scarlet from RoC“What happened was we got fed up of Gandara keep qqing us and telling us they’re the best. This week is the 1st time we have had every single guild back in action since 2 weeks before xmas. So we decided to show you just why we got to T3 with our guilds. We play well together and all set out at reset to show you what you’ve been missing….”
From A GW2guru thread (yes, that I made).
So in that context, it did feel a bit like ‘teach a lesson’ as this was the first time we (AR and Gandara) saw what is said to be a typical server dynamic at Reset.
Not calling names or anything, just wanted to clear that up.
I’ll admit it’s a decent strategy and a nice way to get an early lead on points & upgrades and a psychological blow to other servers that very well could impact the way they play the rest of the week.
Gandara
One of the [RG] players informed us that the map sweep on Reset, by Piken, was to ‘teach us a lesson’. So the golem train was to prove a point that they had enough organization to build an army of golems without supply camps and came prepared.
Appreciate the kudos, Wamgor.
I was hoping that PS would give us (the other two servers) a break and leave our Keep, in EBG, standing. We never got our Keep to T3 today, AR lost theirs during a sweep of their land prime-time, and Gandara lost their Keep earlier than we did yesterday.
At this point, PS is just beating the dead bodies that are the servers of Gandara and Augury Rock.
This has definitely been a low point for me, in regards to WvW, this round. Had a few fun battles, but I’ll be glad to be done with this week.
If Piken is truly showing their strength, I hope the upcoming WvW changes doesn’t lock you in with too many bandwagoners and ruin your chances for a fair fight in the upper tiers, after next week, by not being able to get enough organized groups (guilds) on at the right times.
