1. Give Outnumbered or low WvW population players a means to resist zergs from rolling over T2/T3 towers.
2. Tower/Keep walls are AoE focused death traps against zergs, not a defensive position. Add reduced damage and condition duration buffs on walls.
3. Normalize night capping gains with player count.
4. Reward Scouting/Defending.
5. Give us more anti-zerg mechanics. The nerfed banners just prolong stalemates.

We don’t need to test skill balance in WvW, everyone just blobs anyway.
Gandara
Anet, you allowed us to buy Weapons/Armor with Dungeon tokens.
Please let us use Pristine Relics (or a new token type to combat the hoarders) to buy Weapons and Armor!
RNG for Ascended Weapons & Armor is brutal. You get 3 chances a day from the Daily Tier Chests, so you can’t even farm fractals for drops. The very thing we need Ascended for, especially higher tier fractal, we only have a chance 3 times a day of getting.
Some people are blessed by RNGeezus, most are not. It’s frustrating and demoralizing.
One Pristine Relic per fractal (20 or 30+) per day would discourage farming single levels and encourage running other levels…revitalizing a game type that’s stagnated.
Or give us a token in each daily chest that would allow us to buy an Ascended Weapon/Armor chest so we don’t have to wear our lucky socks, jump 3 times, and throw a kitten across the room because that’s what happened last time we got an RNG Ascended drop from a chest.
Please, think of the tossed kittens.

I think it’s more the fact that it’s another item that makes a strong group stronger.

Joining Meta Maps is SOoooooo Frustrating!
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Esprit Dumort.3109
I have to join an active map to get the meta on a HoT map done.
1 join later…
“You have joined too many parties recently. Please wait a moment before trying to join again.”
20 minutes later of trying to join Full Maps and I still can’t find an active map.
Arena Net… come on please do something about this!!!!
I really want to smash some baby Quaggan because of this crap that you require.
Jeezus so annoying!!!!!!!!
I’m sitting here on LFG for 15 minutes and I still can’t rejoin a party. What is this crap?
Doing stuff in HoT is such a headache.
Do something about this mega server BS so I can actually play the game in peace!

I would like the idea of using the research pages to acquire Ascended weapons/armors since it seems beyond T3 backpiece it won’t be needed.
Gandara
So it sounds the very content that initially required Ascended armor and weapons only gives players one chance per day for the drop they need.
Gandara
In all fairness the Molten Boss event is announced as ‘Bonus Event!’ which implies that the more expedient players should skip them.
Most players doing the suggested exploit cannot beat Mossman otherwise. I’ve seen the attempts.
Gandara
Still a problem.
My favorite part is when it shows the JP loading screen but then switches to DR loading screen and spends 30s loading back into Divinity WHEN I WAS JUST THERE!!!
Gandara
I’m having this exact problem too.
Got in once, but that was after many tries and haven’t been able to get back in (20+) tries.
Anet makes this an achievement for a collection, but can’t spare the bandwidth to allow everyone to try.
Happy Wintersday.
Gandara
When I finished my first tier collection, I was excited to craft the first piece only to discover it required another Ball of Dark Energy. After 120 Laurels and 50 Ecto later with nothing but plus 1 Agony infusions to show, I threw up my hands and shouted (ask my g/f)* ‘kitten this S**T!’* and put the items in my bank to collect dust. I spent almost 4 months of laurels and 30 or more rare salvages for no Ball of Dark Energy.
The Infused Ascended Fractal Capacitor was based on a lot of work and time in fractals…ecto and mist essence was a by product of all the time needed in fractals to collect the Pristine Relics. The Legendary should have a similar concept but at a higher magnitude. Not with this bull RNG that Anet uses.
I’m happy to scavenger hunt and complete hard challenges, but RNG should be buried back in a Dredge cave where it belongs.

Having issues with a “full” Guild Hall, when <5 people are there too
Gandara
We just completed the Gilded Guild Hall mission and only 5 can be in the guild hall at a time.
We have 60+ people trying to get to our Guild Hall and we can’t because the hall is full.
Does anyone know how to fix this???
Someone was saying the the Guild Hall instance grows with the number of people getting in. If that’s the case, it’s not working properly.

It would be used more for harm than good. It was made more difficult by Anet once already, so they have shown their opinion already.
Last time I got whispered was to get flamed for Auto-Attacking a downed player to death. Rarely ever good.

Change server = Problem solved!
Then you have forever queues and the imbalance shifts even more. There was a post higher up that said a very similar thing.
Gandara
That match-up is not fun for anyone.
This is a Mist war right? Imagine if they introduced Mistlock Instability to the server as they cap more. “As your Server captures more territory the Mists affect you more and more.”
Imagine, the enemy uses an elite and dies!! Or the Mossman stalking the high PPT players across maps! So hilarious See list below:
Mist Stalker: The Mossman stalks you through the fractals.
Impaired Immunity: Conditions applied to you last longer.
Outflanked: Enemies do more damage when attacking from behind or the sides.
Fleeting Precision : Your critical chance is reduced.
Stormy Weather: Lightning periodically strikes.
Losing Control: Outgoing control effects have reduced effectiveness.
Keep Them in Line: Damaged enemies gain boons when unattended.
Ill and Chill: Poison, chill, and confusion have unintended effects.
Last Laugh: Enemies explode when killed.
Agonizing Expedition: You are frequently afflicted with agony.
Playing Favorites: Untargeted enemies take half damage.
Lethargic: Reduced endurance regeneration.
Bloodlust: Combat is agonizing. Get a kill for relief.
Overextended: Take damage when you deal critical damage.
Frosty: Periodically leave a patch of freezing frost.
Social Awkwardness: Nearby allies reduce your healing effectiveness.
Antielitism: Elite skills cause death.
Tainted Renewal: Regeneration, protection, and vigor have unintended effects.
Stamina Outgoing: damage is reduced when endurance is low.
Agonizing Expedition: You are frequently afflicted with agony.

Boon stripping is not spammable whereas group Retaliation is. Boons are spammed at a high rate in large groups, something that wells and null fields can’t match. And that is assuming the boon stripping attack lands and is not Evaded, Missed, or Blocked.
Necros tend to see less play time compared to other classes in WvW too.
Gandara
I don’t even know what to call it XD
The grey trim above the skills on your skill bar that allows you to change skills…it does not disappear when you are in combat. You get the option to change skills but since you are in combat, nothing happens.
Most of the time you know when you are in combat, but I don’t know if that is a bug or feature now.

I feel like most people who disagree are on strong servers and don’t understand how demoralizing it is for Red and Blue to be overwhelmed by Green the majority of the time.
This week Green servers (in my matchup) have been going out of their way to farm the Red and Blue groups, skipping over towers and keeps to engage and disrupt the other sides. They have large numbers, they know they can win, and they are essentially bullying the other sides.
I understand that it’s part of the game, and “deal with it” and “QQ”. But the balance is such a joke that it discourages players from enjoying WvW. My g/f commanded Blue for an hour or so the other day and her tactic to keep people around and actually complete objectives? Run away from the Green zerg who were essentially stalking the group the entire time.
Gandara
I remember that a dev once responded to the accusations of siege trolls never being punished to effect of ‘people have the right to play the game as they wish’. And that was that.
How people ‘play’ is definitely a matter of opinion and perspective, but there should be a line drawn somewhere, and I would say siege trolls are across that line.
every server has siege trolls, its unfortunately a fact of wvw, you can ban people for using supply even if its for no troll purposes, much as I would love for them all to be banned myself, you cant ban people for being a jerk
Being a jerk is one thing, but the actions some of these ‘jerks’ take are rather extreme…there is a difference between placing a Ballista at an enemy gate and maxing out your Keep’s siege limit with Rams and Ballistas.

Twice now in as many fights I’ve had the the GW2 game client crash on me while fighting the Karka Queen. I have no problems doing any of the other world bosses, but it seems the client has problems with handling the massive amounts of players (so I would guess) in Southsun in such a localized area.
By the time I load back in, the boss is dead and my kill credit has been reset so I do not receive the reward.
This happened to a guild member at about the same time.

I’m on Gandara and suffering from the issue at this moment…can’t even connect. Been playing from the US for 2 years and 99.9% (estimated) of the time I have no issue and good ping.
By the way, how do you find the IP of the server you are connecting to? (to traceroute)
Gandara
I was able to complete the event twice, Taxi’d people in while it was active on LFG Tool. Look for taxi’s if your server is having issues.
Also, people are purposefully bugging (i.e. exploiting) the dolyaks now and farming the Champions (with enough people, scaling) that spawn indefinitely trying to kill the dolyaks who don’t move.
Gandara
Too short? What are you talking about, the lengthy (aka stalled) events have me playing the story for well over a day now!!
:)
This episode has been quite rocky.
Gandara
Fenris is waiting for Dolyaks, but the Dolyaks do not come to Fenris.
Gandara
This is why releases like this need to be so polished. Anet draws everyone’s attention to this, releasing new content, new weapon skins, and fun events. But all it takes is one disastrous bug like this to turn so many people away, not only from the events, but the game itself.
Ultimately it’s not fair for a traditionally good set of developers, but when you are a AAA MMO you can’t afford such significant mistakes.

Zergs were the downfall in previous LS events and from what we’ve seen:
S2E1: Instanced – Success
S2E2: Instanced – Success
S2E3: Open World – Bugged
So it is.
Gandara
League of Legends, … , … ? Can you please spell them out?
Gandara
Recently the core members of our guild have been discussing how we enjoyed playing the game together, but because lack of a lot of content (LS chapters are a day of activity at most) and burnout we want to stay together and enjoy other games.
What computer games do you enjoy with your guildmates while you wait for interest to return or new content to come?
(I guess this bit off topic, but I wasn’t sure where to post this.)
Gandara
Since every other title is essentially some sort of farm or another, allowing WvW’ers to show off their rank (starting at some non-zero rank) seems fair to me.
Gandara
Gandara checking in 3rd week as Red, similarly perturbed.
Would love some rotation on the maps.
Gandara
Taking back the other keeps is also easy…take the reactor, throw down a couple rams…might be slower but just as straight-forward.
Badlands is almost always outnumbered (not always with the “buff” though), which seems odd as the same number of servers have access to each side as far as I know. I guess it’s the fact that it’s not only the higher 3rd ranked servers (per tier), but the lower bracket ones too.
The regular WvW maps are a bit more balanced though; Red Keep in EBG is far more defensible than the other two Keeps. Plus, it’s a game, the devs don’t want to make the sides so unfair that it discourages players to actually play the game. But that’s what they’ve done in EotM.
Gandara
Why was Red Keep made so weak and indefensible?
Ever since Edge of the Mists was released, I’ve played it quite a bit. I enjoy the map, the simplicity of the objectives, and the versatility of what you can do.
Except when we are the Red Team.
Playing Red is demoralizing and rage quit worthy. One of our best assets, The Workshop, is that Keep’s worst enemy. People don’t go to Workshop to take other towers or keeps (okay, sometimes). It’s used to take Red Keep. Workshop should be renamed to Get-Into-Red-Keep-with-No-Effort.
Just to rub salt in the wound, Red Keep is practically nothing but destructible walls and doors. It’s nigh impossible to hold. No decent choke points that the enemy couldn’t easily circumvent. Holding Red Keep against a determined zerg is a joke.
Green has the numbers.
Blue has an amazingly defensible Keep.
Red is the other two’s play thing.
Did the EotM developers think that giving Red the Workshop that no one would think to use it to take the Keep? It seems like such a massive oversight.
Red is already considered the ‘weak’ team, but to give them such a horrible section is like punishment, discouraging us from playing.
Gandara
Thieves don’t realize how much the rendering buff aids them, with 1-2s windows to attack then disappear again. By the time a player gets their bearings, having lost target, the Thief is off again in a puff of smoke.
What other class’s “counter” involves spamming CC’s and AoE’s in hopes of getting lucky? At least with Mesmer’s they lack the amount of Evade and escapes available.
A class that can reset a fight almost at will, that needs to be taken down by spam and lucky CC’s, or properly timing 99% of their attacks is asking for skill that no other class needs against a class that requires marginal skill to be very effective.
Stealth needs a counter, besides being lucky or extremely skill.
edit: yeah, I’m necro’ing a post =VD=
Gandara
Perhaps the logic was that Red side has access to an infinite number of mobile siege units, and can easily and quickly take out walls or keep. To balance that, they made the Keep vulnerable to its own attacks. A high risk / high reward scenario.
Though let’s be honest, the only time Workshop siege is used, is to take the Red Keep…and maybe a tower or two if the Commander is feeling bold or adventurous.
Gandara
Depending on server zone [NA or EU], after given times [1:00am or so], all structures tick for half the points.
That way people who can’t sleep or just happen to be in daytime when the vast majority is in nightime can still play, and have an impact on the score, but it can’t be the same impact as daytimers because it just isn’t the same effort.
It makes no sense for the majority to run around killing each other during the day, just so that some come later and conquer everthing with Walk toggled on.
I feel like this is one of the more favorable “solutions” to the issue, that I’ve seen in a while.
To build on the idea, or expound on it, have the points per tick scale based on the population balance of the map. Have it normalized to the highest population of the 3 servers:
Server X population: 100
Server Y population: 50
Server Z population: 25
Points normalized to Server X population (for the tick): 100
Therefore, at the tick for points:
Server X – 1:1 points (1 point for each point they have)
Server Y – 2:1 points (2 points for each point they have, half of X’s population)
Server Z – 4:1 points (4 points for each point they have, quarter of X’s population)
At each tick, the normalization factor is recalculated, and the GW server tracks max population though the tick, to avoid gaming the system (max out the map, to mass cap, and exodus right before tick).
I’m sure there are plenty of flaws to the system, and one could even give a 5-10% point bonus to the server with the most players, to reward the coverage they have (and not to have them feel punished for being active).
With such a method, the Nightwatch issue sees some balance, and the low nightwatch coverage servers still feel like their efforts are rewarded. It may not completely fix the issue, but it won’t be such a blowout, in my opinion.
Gandara
Yup, our overflow only defeated the red Knight and those people only got a chest. Half way through the event map chat is filled with shouting and complaining.
This whole LS event is bugged and horribly implemented.
Release: Loot drops are sporadic at best.
Patch 1: Still not fixed.
Patch 2: Now even less people get loot.
Patch 3: Forced game mechanic now causes even more hate and vitriol across servers and overflows as the loot system only awards the players who win and promotes rage quits when people see the event starting to fail, which negates any chance of last minute success.
What gives Anet? You encourage teamwork, but you give us no breathing room to work as a team with the insufficient time / ridiculously high Knight health.
Gandara
(edited by Esprit Dumort.3109)
Maybe it’s Anet’s solution to AFKer’s?
Gandara
Anet would be in a far better position if they at least acknowledged that there is the issue, especially with so many bug reports and threads on various forums. Players instead think that Anet is hiding or refusing to admit there is an issue. Even it isn’t true, it’s still damaging to their reputation and overall bad PR.
Gandara
Same issue on Gandara.
Heard some people saying that the first time for main server and then as each overflow is created, that the event actually works. After that the event bugs out in existing servers and overflows. Not sure if there is any credibility to those comments.
Gandara
Same issue with the loot, out of three events only two Knights dropped loot chests. One event I got nothing despite getting credit for all three Knight kills.
:(
P.S. – Please increase core drop rate please

(edited by Esprit Dumort.3109)
I’m a bit surprised that a bug that can flip a T3 Keep in a couple minutes or less, with nothing but a bugged skill, doesn’t warrant a hot fix. /s
Gandara
Scouting is key, as already stated. Most Golem rushes will either abort or fail once they are spotted with a couple minutes of advanced notice.
I will acknowledge that Omega’s can make it a bit trickier. Recently I’ve seen servers go for a tower/keep wall, staying as far back to minimize siege, as opposed to a door, which is often front loaded with siege.
Gandara
Has anyone looked into doing 3rd party logging via the in-game API as we see in the Event alert websites and Trading Post websites?
Gandara
Such a debuff would cause so much strife and in-fighting among groups and pugs that servers might tear themselves apart by trying to limit such a ‘Crowded’ debuff. The negative implications would outweigh any positive gain.
As such, the zerg fights would be 100% more enjoyable if the skill lag were fixed. I’d rather they address that vs. the imbalance.
Gandara
Surely u can find many friends In your US neiberhood. Do those European friends of yours play at 5 AM or sleep? How often do you see them?
You must not understand the concept of friendship, to make a comment about having friends that only live within a timezone or two. My game-time overlaps quite a bit with my EU counterparts, it’s not as different as you assume.
The beauty of the internet and MMO’s is allowing people from around the world play together, and arbitrarily restricting who you can play with, by timezones or time of play, totally ignores and insults players who don’t conform to a “prime time” schedule.
Honest question: Are you trolling? Because your comments are so close-minded, that it seems that way.
Gandara
When you are losing in a fight, isn’t it reasonable to call in reinforcements?
I mean, yeah, sure, it sucks when you are totally primed for a 1v1 or 2v2, and suddenly you get rolled by a large group. But…it’s World versus World…not Roamer vs. Roamer.
It’s the risk you run by roaming on your own or with a small group.
