It may be a terrible first impression, but it’s an honest first impression. You can expect the rest of the game to be terrible if you don’t like the champ trains in Queensdale.

I disagree.

I think the Queensdale Champions reduce the game to its worst level. There are many fantastic and diverse areas and events out in the world.

Players will also gravitate towards these kinds of simple mindless loot opportunities when they are in the game.

Unfortunately, this leaves many other engaging group events in the world untouched and other zones desolate.

While I applaud the players resilience for staying with such a dull manifestation of the game, I feel Anet should take an approach akin to paternalism* and remove the Queens zerg, in order to force change and diversity.

This may upset some players, who feel they should be able to play how they want to play, but sometimes the world demands an authority or organization to guide us gently towards perfection.

Who is with me?

NB:

**"Paternalism" comes from the Latin pater, meaning to act like a father, or to treat another person like a child, limiting some person or group’s liberty or autonomy for their own good.

Anet’s plan is clearly working, just look at player numbers….

…o wait.

Then look at the other massive mmo in the game; WoW is accessible to all sorts and has over 7 millions subscribers. The ‘top of the range’ tougher player is the minority.

My wife gave up here after a few days. Alas. Dungeons would’ve killed her anyway…

But is that a recipe for success?

I don’t think so, but time will tell.

They don’t exactly encourage new players to get into the game and are probably a barrier to increasing player numbers.

More accessibility in dungeons for new players would contribute to a more sustained world population, I’d assume.

Getting booted out of AC as a random for not being 80 is pretty confronting and alienating.

If you want more players, make them, and the culture surrounding them, more accessible and inclusive for new players.

If not, don’t.

From Best To Worst Class Design.....?

Well, Engineer is the ONLY class class i’ve enjoyed levelling. The rest get to 30 odd and die of boredom. Warrior was particularly frustrating as its basically the same, with the same 5 skills, all the way.

And I just hate clothies, so I can’t comment there.

With the tool bar, Engineer seems to have such variety. So I just level them. Same race, same class, and thats it, haha

Maybe because its broken and stupid and halting map progression and needs 50, 000 threads on it.

Anet needs to get their act together. It is pretty pathetic.
