It looks a very great deal better in game than on the screen shot, the lightning effect just doesn’t show well in a single frame.
So every now and then my staff gets a little bug where the “charging” effect of the Lightning Surge skill remains on the staffs head after and it looks pretty wicked! I think it would be pretty awesome to make a new staff skin based around it.
( it’d be a money maker on the gem store I guarantee it! just hook me up with one and some gems to say thnx for the idea 8D )
(edited by Fiddle Irk.9710)
15 v 15 would be optimal and prolly all we could manage
a bump here so this doesn’t get lost =)
Are there any guilds on HoD or YB that gvg? My guild has only been able to find one gvg this whole season, very sad =( . Both of your servers are very high pop so we hope there are a couple of guilds that would like to fight outside the zerg. msg me in game or on this post (i’ll try to check it but in game would be preferred 8D ) Let’s have a good fight!!!
The only way that I have thought of to get “balanced” WvW competition that defeats population imbalances is having a low player cap on each map and overflows with only the main scoring. I don’t think this is a great idea either tho because guilds that want to run together and contribute would have an impossible time trying to do so and being in an overflow would have as much point as EotM.
Orrrr, an idea I brought up once before about some type of proximity debuff that weakens the uber blobs that run around with 60 people ‘cause they can’t fight well enough without.
I said not affect open field. affect in place same way as guild buffs. and If your THAT outnumbered, you should not be fighting open field anyways
Umm, just a noob ( only silver vet here ) idea but, how about outnumbered buff act like a super bloodlust? I mean, if you have to fight THAT many more than your team, give the outnumbered team like +200 to each stat?
Better Idea, make it grading. make it so for every person over your teams numbers gives a +10 stat! so the second would not get screwed cuza 3rd.
Like if top pop has 60 pple, second pop has 25, third pop has 10. second pop gets a + 350 to stats, 3rd gets a +500. but this would really hate on roaming teams.. so make it applicable to towers n keeps only, like the guild buff area. That way, we’all can fight on equal terms in open field(not counting numbers) but when you are defending points, you get buffed according to the population difference (so the scrubs like me that try to defend a point have a fighting chance against a map blob)
I think we can all agree, this is getting out of hand and becoming far less enjoyable.
The 60 man zergs. (or rather, the blobs as a zerg would imply they’re being lead by a single mind with coordination, but they’re usually not. It’ll be a small core group on ts and 30+ pugs looking to karma train)
WvW has become even worse than the queensdale champ train in that, everyone on the map gathers up, spams 1 a bunch and either rolls over the enemy because they have far superior numbers or scatters like roaches because they’re getting creamed.
Now granted, there are good “zerg busting” guilds out there that try to fight these (I’m in one and 20vs60 is just a bit more than we can handle) but a regular commander, without his entire force on ts and running synergized builds, has no chance at all.
This is not a cry thread about “fairness” though, but a question of “who’s having fun” in these fights? The members of the 60 man blob who spam 1 and hope they can tag a few of the enemy? The 20 man squad trying desperately to defend their fully fortified keep against this mindless monster? And what could/should be done about this?
So an idea was given, not by me, but I like it and want to propose it as something to be considered and discussed, about implementing a “proximity debuff” to balance fights somewhat and maybe even discourage “blobing” a bit. It could go along the lines of: every 5 players over 30 in “x” proximity results in a 50 stat point debuff. (just a rough idea folks, don’t get hung up on these numbers) Something like this could really take the wind out of the sails of the karma train and return a player vs player element to wvw, making it feasible to fight these groups and more rewarding to have coordinated teams rather than massive numbers. And even with a “300” stat point debuff at 60 people, c’mon you still have 60 people.
A couple of questions pop into my mind with this though. If I’m commanding and don’t want the massive debuff, how do I keep people from blobbing up on my tag? Possible solutions: give commander ability to hide their tag from all but their squad just like joining a squad allows you to hide other tags. (I personally like this idea for guild raids too. We use the target to follow our driver but if he could hide his tag from all but us, it would allow individual parties to target specific enemies and not lose our “tag”) Also, and this has been brought up many times before and still remains a good idea in my opinion, allow commanders to select a tag color. Zerg getting too big? “blue squad full, need people on red tag”
So I’ve become bit long-winded but would appreciate a quality think tank here and who knows, maybe Anet might even listen if we come up with something good =)
I honestly think displaying your wvw rank to your own team in one way or another is great idea as the less experienced could heed the advice of the greater experienced more readily. Either icons or simply use the rank as the title (I’d much rather my silver colonel than “veteran of the mists”)
Only a WvW player laughs and face palms at the same time as his entire party dies in a dungeon (that he’s doing because he’s flat broke and needs to buy more lemongrass) and ends up soloing the boss.
I bet Chuck Norris could take on a legendary defender =P
Most of the people that post against the nerf (and I’m one of them) is because of 3 reason.
1) They get that Anet nerf crit damage as a step to have more build diversity and not only direct damage build for PvE. But its such a bad and ineffective way to do that. They need to fix condition damage in group or bring a support that need more link to you build. Nerfing crit damage don’t help to bring more build diversity. Its just a useless nerf.
2) The 10% nerf to damage was a half truth. Yup it work for some build. But a lot of stuff wasn’t count and a lot of people end up with a 15%, 20% or even 25% nerf.
3) Divinity stuff was not only nerf harder, but it lose its identity. Its was an hybrid gear that got most of their damage from crit damage. And now its only a hybrid gear will small damage. With the low power they have, Divinity NEED a high amount of crit damage to be worth something.
You forget though, divinity runes and celestial gear (what I use on most of my Ele gear) received a base boost of 6% to all stats, therefore allowing you to mix in a couple of zerker or assassin pieces to bring the power and crit back up without suffering armor and health lose.
I run death shroud Necro myself, mostly in wvw. The vast majority of my critical damage came from my trait line, not my gear. I was nerfed pretty kitten the damage. So now I don’t hit nearly as hard when i’m trying to hit hard. That’s a big deal! ………..buuuut, on the other hand, that squishy little thief trying to single out and back stab casters, the very thing I built my Necro to counter and destroy, doesn’t hit me as hard either, and I still win =)
PEOPLE, THESE CHANGES DON"T AFFECT JUST YOU! THEY AFFECT YOUR OPPONENT TOO.!
So you can’t just assassinate someone in 3 hits anymore huh? Might take a little skill to win the fight instead of just spamming huge hits because of your gear now huh? You might need to know when to use your skills instead of spamming them at the get-go so you’re opponent doesn’t have a chance to fight back huh? Bummer….
And to be honest, if they way you’ve been playing forever isn’t as effective anymore, why not try something else for a change? Doesn’t it get boring just repeating the same sequence over and over? I mean, I’ve played Necro since release and have used just about every type of build you could imagine for it, it’s what keeps it interesting instead of just "same ‘ol same ’ol. ( And no, I’m not biased on this with just Necro, I play every class and recently Ele more than the others) It’s not like A-net didn’t give us more options to choose from now. Thieves, you can still just stealth away like always and you have at least a couple more survive ability option to choose from, so try them out instead of relying on overpowering. Warriors, you’re still oped because heavy armor get all the perks of not relying on toughness for your defense and if your healing signet isn’t as ridiculous as it used to be any more, you might have to use a healing skill like the rest of us?
What I’m getting at is there are lot’s of options out there. You can adapt and maybe even have a little more fun with the fights ( the thrill of “I won that!”, not “he didn’t stand a chance I killed him so fast” ). And if you insist on doing what you’ve always done, remember: Your opponent won’t be hitting you for as much either.
I’ll add a vote of approval and appreciation! And I’m glad there aren’t nothing but people crying on these forums. Nothing is ever “perfect” but this patch rocks Anet! Thank you for all the hard work you did on it 8D
I’m not bothered by that really, and am glad I got it. It’s just like….darnit, I coulda used those mats on a different piece!!
So after almost two years of playing, my first “big” drop comes. An Ascended malicious helm chest from fractals. Exactly 12 hours after I craft my ascended helm…………. Can I get a rebate?
What really gets to me is not the rarity of precursors and ascended chests, but how imbalanced to luck is. Happy for the folks that get one but It really kinda ticks me off when people get when people get two, three, four or more, yet I’ve been playing since shortly after release and never gotten one. Try to spread the love around a bit Anet!!!
Maybe old topic here but just now getting into this myself.
For those of use trying to craft ascended armor silk price is a pain, but the real kick in the family jewels has been wool, cotton, and linen. Why are prices so high? Well, quite simply because you can only get these mats from salvaging armor and no matter where you are, the drop level of armor corresponds roughly to your character level. So if all your characters are level 80, then what? I can’t get low level armor except for grinding low level dungeons for tokens? I have to delete a character and level a new one up? Why on earth should level 78 armor drop for me from a Tamini in Gendarra Fields in the first place? The way I look at it, if I want high level drops I can take my level 80 toon to a high level area. I would think it would make more sense for the drop level of items would correspond with the area level.
Ahh thnx. Sell it is I guess =P
Recently I’ve had a couple of rings drop for me that I’ll never use and have know idea what to do with. I was told I could sell them to vendor for a whopping 4 silver but…
Anyways, I noticed that you can select them to be a component in the mystic forge and am wondering if anyone knows what the other components and possible rewards might be?
Love it when Deso laughs after they win a fight they were losing by bringing in the blob! Yes, it IS hilarious when it takes 4 times as many of you to beat us!!! =P Keep up the good work!
Couple of ideas for outnumbered buff. As it is now, to have the outnumbered buff you have to be the lowest population by 3 to 1 in a borderland ( I think that’s the ratio). This is fair but, what about when you’re trying to defend your home borderland and one server has a 60 man blob and the other has 5 people while you have 10? Thus I feel home server deserves priority for the outnumbered buff on their borderland.
Also, I feel the buff should be more than just experience and repair negation. Would it not make more sense to make it similar to the bloodlust? Stack on it as well. 30 vs 10 will never be fair but a little more buff would even things a bit more.
10 minute warning on a new build? And most all siege dissolves for the new build. So what about all the gold spent on this siege, much of which might be bought with gems? Say perhaps you just spent 20 gold on building omega golems and siegeing up your server"s keep, like what just happened twice in a row last night and tonight. Tough luck eh? I know for a fact that I’m not the only one this has happened to, nor am I the only one to find it utterly “kittened.”
the worst part (well not the worst but….) is they won’t even fight you one v one (deso players)!!!!!!!!!! three times in a row i smoked this deso guard ( as ranger), and not once did i stomp him. let him get back up each time. yet he gets a buddy and beats me…… guess what? he stomps me right away. less than classy dude……
In addition to the insane numbers, what might this be Desolation? Didn’t know arrow carts could hit that far inside from that far away, legitimately…
Ah, nevermind, you ticked us off. your points are ours UW =P
Shout out to UW! Our night crew has come to a consensus. We will help you take second over Millers, so get online!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and yet anet is advertising for more people when it cannot handle those it has! is this company run by 12 year olds?
I just switched to another server from AR..and now am learning just how good player membership was in AR. I mean, was just with a zerg that failed to cap a keep that AR would have caped with 25% of the number we had… I was tired as kitten about being always outnumbered there in AR but seeing first hand how much of a factor that made in player skill base! It’s like, wow!
Can we get another filter for say “usable”? I mean honestly, if I’m trying to look over armor skins, why do I want to see all the medium and heavy that I can’t transmute? OR make transmuting transcend armor type, at least for appearance. And for weapons, I can’t use a hammer, I don’t need those listed…
I know that most of the Fergs are honest players, but the [HP] guild (Harpies Pride I think) DO have hackers in it. I’ve seen them move like they have STACKS of swiftness in combat, zero cooldown for skills ( bull charged 4 times in a row) and ignore control effects ( ran around with a guards scepter 3 immobilize glowing around him). So if any Fergs read this, pay attention to them and please report them as I can’t get their names
Sry Chiolas, not a troll here, just a player that is stating that we don’t need all the negativity directed at the dev’s as of late.
Want them to heed our suggestion’s folks? What makes you think calling them incompetent will inspire them to do so? This post was not intended to be an argument over whether or not they should be thanked, I honestly didn’t expect any further posts on it, just a simple spurt of gratitude for what they do do to balance out all the whining out there. As I said before, yeah there is allot that can be done to make it better, there are issues, both personel and general, that need to be fixed, but what we do have is pretty sweet and will only get better as they work to improve it. Basically, just have some patience and cut them some slack is all I’m saying. And maybe even show them some love, might make them a little more attentive to us than dissing them will. =)
Looking over the forums a bit recently, and I see allot of complaints and negativity directed towards Anet and its staff. While I do agree with many of the complaints and “suggestions” I also realize that it is impossible to be perfect and please everyone, and I hope everyone else will stop for a moment to consider these simple facts as well. The Dev’s are not gods, they are people just like us. They can make mistakes, they can make an error in choices. BUT I think they are doing a much better job at remedying these thing than other MMORPG companies. Take into account: we don’t have a monthly subscription fee, we don’t have to “pay-to-win” (as in, everything you really need can be earned with game play, money spent is mostly for cosmetics). Ever play Vindictus?, a game by Nexon? The worst company ever, whose sole purpose was milking money from dumb American teens( Korean based). Their servers would crash for hours or days at a time. Half the time, when it was up, you could not enter any instance and ALL of the game was instance based. Sure, you could NOT purchase any “NX”, (that companies equivalent to gems), and be the weakest, unwanted player on the party…….but who wants to be “that guy”?
Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had my share of run ins with Anet. My account was banned for a couple of weeks AFTER I reported someone hacking it and using it to bot with. Yet after more info, and backup from friends, they re-instated it. I’ve had posts deleted and been warned for “insulting specific players” (people hacking) but I know they are just keeping forums clean. Heck, they even changed my name to the current ’cuz I was “irking” them. ( to irk; is to highly irritate someone)
All that being said. Thank You Anet staff! You put out an awesome game! Thank you for your hard work to please us playing. Thank you for the many hours you spend developing the graphics for the great number of maps available to us. Thank you for your best efforts to encourage team cooperation!
I’m not trying to get on their good~side here with this post. I’m sure I’ll be a pain to them in the future as well. But I will say this, cut them some slack! GW2 IS the best MMORPG there is. And if you really don’t like it, well then go back to where you were before!
Here’s an idea, get your buddy to play somethin other than thief. We would all appreciate less of them xD!
(only semi-joking)

Read the prerelease of patch (from DEV not player in general), pets for rangers can now detect and use reveal.
The problem with stealth detection unlike all the other games listing stealth revealers is that no class has perma stealth in GW2. Thieves can maintain it for quite awhile, but it is by no means perm. That’s a huge overlook for people complaining about it.
The question is, making a change for ranger pets, not that rangers didnt need some love, makes other classes stealth a bit less useful in group dynamics.
Wait and see i guess.
I beg to differ on the perma stealth. A former guild mate of mine could do just that, and taught me how. He could get four heart-seekers inside a blinding powder, rinse and repeat when stealth about to run out. I could only manage 3 when I made a thief to try it out in pvp but even that will do the trick. He would then run full zerker with other little tricks and the 100% critical in stealth and hit people for 15K and re-stealth if they didn’t die after the next couple of dagger slashes. Is that not over powered or what?
You must be new here… allow me to explain.
When one team has literally no coverage, then the other two teams fight over their territory. We are not allied, far from it! We are trying to deny each other points.
If GoM was really playing hardball, we would just camp AR BL 24/7 and get an insane PPT. Instead we have been focusing FC all week. If anyone has a reason to complain it is FC, because they should have WAY higher PPT than AR, except that we focus them.
The sad truth is that AR is getting rolled by the “leftovers” from the FC vs GoM war. But you don’t need to think about this as a demoralizing defeat. Some of my favorite times in WvW where when we were constantly being destroyed by DH. Don’t worry about “winning” and focus on doing the best you can with what you have. If they send 50 people to kill your 5 man, take it as a complement. <titanlectro.5029
I guess I must be wrong. Never seen both zergs come together and crush our small one between it.. Never seen both side of our EB come up under attack at same time. Never seen GoM skip over FC zerg to hit our tower. Never seen FC hit our zerg in the back when we were attacking GoM tower then pull off . I am sure I was mistaken when I was in our keep( in EB) and both FC and GoM were hitting from North and South at the same time. (I’m sure you would have been fighting over the lords room if we hadn’t repelled you both……) I am certain I must be wrong about witnessing GoM constantly zerging Speldan and FC constantly zerging Pangloss whilst all your camps stay held and untouched.
A tough fight I love, a rollover is disappointing, getting rolled from both sides, time after time, ticks me off. Being told I am mistaken after I’ve observed for weeks… well I guess I AM just plain stupid. Sorry about that.
And to my fellow Anvil Rocks. I won’t give up. I was ticked off earlier because Vel was easily taken after I’d spent many hours and much money upgrading it (fully upgraded in all areas, most (not all) paid for in time and $ by me and my guild) and could get no assistance what-so-ever from anyone on the map to do the same with Mendon.
Don’t lie about teaming up against us GoM and FC and I won’t lie about the fact that AR is being very stupid right now and trying to just run around with mini zerg for stuff that will be quickly recapped whilst ignoring defending what we do have.
(And P.S. to the dev’s, NUKES would be fun, although maybe a 7.5 second cool down would be more appropriate ; ) )
Congrats GoM and FC. You have officially ruined WvW for me. Your blatant alliance is disgusting. Not only do you both outnumber us, you need to team up against us? PATHETIC. Not only pathetic but you’re driving off any new players we try to get into because no one really wants to be rolled over by a twenty to one mob, much less try to face two servers doing so. Not much fun when you can’t get out the door, not much point.
And those complaints about arrow carts ruining wvw in the other thread, about how they’re a “crutch” for low population servers now? After this past week I wouldn’t feel bad at all about one shotting a whole zerg with one. So dev’s, in my opinion, crank’em up even more. In fact here’s a good idea, add some nuke’s to the arsonal so I could one shot a whole BL. To be fair, give ‘em a five minute cool down…..
Sorry Darkothe for being the first to “whine” but this sucks bad for all of us in AR and is driving off the few we can muster, including me. Have fun dukeing it out 1v1 with GoM, we’ve pretty much given up.
I’ve several friends that are getting a tremendous # of disconnects. since the last patch i’ve had 5 (less than 2 hours ago) is anyone else having this problem? and why does it continue? I doubt I’m a first to complain about it but it’s getting bad.. I have premium internet and top knotch computer so I don’t think it’s on my end of things and last thing I or party members want is for me or them to get d/ced mid dungeon or pvp battle.
Hey Anet! I’ve been a victim of a botter for about a month and a half. my account was terminated for a week, the suspended, the re-instated, then the botter showed back up today….. here is a dmn good way to amply-fie the security on peoples accounts. Nexon.com (horrid company that i hate but..) has a mmorpg called Vindictus. the suggestion I have for you is to mimic the second password system they have. it’s a total mouse based password on a fluctuating number grid. key logger’s cannot copy
